Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl: this is the curse of the Black Pearl
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest: actually that was more like the curse of some people who happened to be on (and in one case distinctly under) the Black Pearl. Anyway this is the REAL curse of the Black Pearl

A Besotted Look at Elizabeth Swann's Costumes in Dead Man's Chest
I'm not an expert but let's dive into some of the best costumes I've ever had the pleasure of seeing.
Here we see Elizabeth's wedding dress (including a close-up of the details). It is similar in style to the two dresses she wore in the last movie in Port Royal, while also clearly being fancier. The color matches the dress her father gave her in the last movie but the style is more like the dress she wore at the end of that film - where it was clear she had more of a hand in choosing it. While this could mean that this gown now represents her as an adult, I think it indicates again the constricting environment from which she will soon escape (and to which she likely never returns).
Female representation: 9/10 It's a gorgeous dress and would be very fun to wear. It is a bit low-cut (for current sensibilities, anyway), but one important thing makes up for that. Keep in mind that it is canonically soaking wet most of the time she is wearing it, but it is never anything less than modest and beautiful.
Practicality: 7/10 Obviously it would not be great for adventuring, or she wouldn't get rid of it so quickly. I would think she could have sold it for supplies, but it makes for a more interesting plot point when she is a stowaway.
Here is her complete outfit for pirating. She had a different hat as a stowaway, which was straw (presumably cheaper), but obviously this one is great. The coat is similar to her costars' and I really like the giant sword belt. How much of this outfit do you think she already had? Because I feel like the sword, at least, was hers before this started. I also like what she did with her hair, possibly cutting some for the disguise but mostly typing it up to be out of the way.
Female representation: 10/10 Sort of a weird rating, since she is dressed in men's clothes. But there are a lot of ways to take advantage of that fact which were avoided here. It's all sized perfectly and looks very comfortable.
Practicality: 10/10 Presumably, she was working on that first ship and the outfit wouldn't work if it weren't practical. It's a great costume for a pirate to have and she easily does anything she wants to while wearing it.
This is the same outfit as above, just without the coat and with her hair down. I like the detail on the waistcoat - see the pattern? And all the little buttons. The cuffs on her sleeves as well as the silhouette add a bit of femininity that her costars' costumes lack while still being passably masculine. While the previous outfit was clearly a costume, this one seems to fit her perfectly - her hair is loose but kept out of her face by the hat, for example. It seems very lived-in and also foreshadows that she's not planning on going back to the fancy dresses anytime soon.
Female representation: 10/10 As above, it's just fantastic. I do like it more than the previous outfit but both are wonderful costumes for the (almost!) only woman in a pirate movie to be wearing.
Practicality: 9/10 The flowing hair is somewhat less practical (even if I prefer it), but otherwise it is definitely one of the most practical things Elizabeth ever wears. It's perfect for her adventures in the jungle, on the beach, and defending the Black Pearl from the Kraken. No notes.

can't stop thinking about how in dmc jack treated james like a dog (whistling when he wanted him to start digging for the chest, the deleted scenes with giving him the other shovel to carry + having him clean his boot) and james takes it first because of wanting to stay by elizabeth but then because he was waiting for his moment to take the letters of marque + either the compass or chest and get his life back
and of course he gets the letters and the heart and gives them to beckett --
only for beckett to treat him like a dog as well ("you summoned me," the sending off/shooing gesture on the dutchman when it was time to drop off the chest, "he'll obey it's what he does") but this time james has to take it because he sees no other path
