my absolute favorite thing is that they changed it so LUKE would have the most interactions with percy at camp

luke showed him around, luke explained how the camp and gods worked, luke told him about the pact of the big three.... in the books, most of that was taken up by annabeth, but i LOVE that they changed it to luke because it would've made the betrayal hurt 10x more!!!!

in the book, luke's betrayal didn't hurt that much cuz they didn't interact a lot when percy was still at camp. like, when he finally defected i felt more bad for annabeth than for percy, but in the show..... omg when luke defended him from clarisse and that scene where percy prays to his mom to tell her that he made a friend "who really liked him" and he was talking about LUKE 😭😭😭😭😭

Ares saying he hates his own kids and the worst day of the year is when they visit him makes my heart break for Clarisse more. Clarisse fights so hard for scraps of her father’s attention and Ares sees her as just another nuisance. He doesn’t care about her unless she’s able to serve him. But Clarisse (like Annabeth) thinks she just has to work harder for him to love her. In her mind, it’s all her fault. Which is why she is so angry when little punk Percy strolls in at twelve years old, no training and unclaimed, and immediately defeats the minotaur. In three days hes already got the gods attention and his father claimed him. Of course she’s angry.

Grover after noticing the way Percy and Annabeth interact with each other like they've already been married for forty seven years and have three cats together:

I love that the show is giving Grover so much more screen time and is really diving deeper into his character. Particularly his reaction to his uncle’s death.

In the books, he was a little shocked when he first saw his statue at Medusa’s place but he quickly moved on.

In the show, he was visibly grieving and the first thing he said to Augustus was that his uncle died and he doesn’t know how to talk about it with his friends. Or rather, he doesn’t think they’d understand.

There’s just this clear divide between his perception of the world and Percy and Annabeth’s perception.

It’s the little ways that they remind us how young the kids are, like Percy asking how to make the car go backwards. He’s a 12 year old from nyc of course he doesn’t know how to put a car in reverse

The show really hits you with the fact that Annabeth is the head counselor for the Athena cabin. Like, obviously she’s been there for a long time, but none of her older siblings are more fit for the job? How many others who are more experienced and older have already ventured off on deadly quests, never to return? Just how much death and tragedy has this girl witnessed at camp?

Fuck every percy jackson "fan" who is still complaining about percy & annabeths HAIR COLOURS being different then in the books. I hope Nico is blonde so that all of you cry and scream like fucking toddlers

It is completely in character for Percy to say he has some dumb questions, then ask incredibly valid questions that no one has brought up till now

In the show, Echidna explains that monsters trach demigods by smelling their fear; it’s part of the hunt. Once a demigod is aware of who they are and why they’re in danger, monsters will come for them. Annabeth was constantly hunted by monsters from the age of 5. MEANING THIS LITTLE BABY ANGLE WAS SCARED AND ALL HER STEPMOTHER AND FATHER DID WAS MAKE HER FEEL LIKE ITS HER FAULT!!! SHE WAS SO ALIENATED FOR TWO YEARS AND BLAMED HERSELF!!!
