Notice how he/him lesbians aren’t mentioned anywhere in the original post. Like, sure, there are tons of lesbians with very nuanced genders whose identities intersect with being a man in some ways, but when a lesbian says “I don’t want to fuck men” and your response is “wow you’re a terf and a lesbian separatist” then you’re literally bordering on sexual harassment. You’re saying “you not wanting to fuck me makes you bad”. I have no idea how I can be expected to be in community with someone like this. What’s next, are you gonna say that the reason I’m not attracted to men is because I need a good fucking?

I've been doing a lot of reading lately about the history of vampires in fiction and how the vampire as we know it today first entered literature, and the subject is honestly fascinating. The traditional folklore around vampires and vampire-like creatures is largely very different from what we'd think of as a vampire today, and it's also very different from how vampires appeared in even their earliest literary incarnations.
For one thing, there's nothing particularly alluring about most traditional vampires. They're bloated corpses that have crawled out of their graves, not dashing mysterious counts in lonely castles. They're not a particularly stylish or sexy monster.
However, from pretty much the moment that western literature first turned to the vampire myth for inspiration, writers saw something in the concept to sexualize. The poem "Der Vampir" (The Vampire) by Heinrich August Ossenfelder is often cited as the first ever true literary depiction of a vampire (published 1748!), and it is about a man corrupting a chaste and religious woman through his unwanted kiss/vampiric bite. John William Polidori's 1819 short story "The Vampyre" is widely seen as the first work to truly codify vampire fiction, and the titular Vampyre Ruthven is in large part inspired by the womanizing Lord Byron. Le Fanu's Carmilla depicts an intense attraction between Carmilla and her victim Laura. Stoker's Count Dracula is a man with overly flushed lips and hair on his palms, marks of Victorian fears of sexuality.
From the very start, vampires in literature have been a sexual monster. They're emblems of the seductive and terrible—the kiss of death that you can't help but be drawn to anyway. A violent forced intimacy that will corrupt you and drain away your very life force. There's a great deal of xenophobia and fear of the un-christian in early vampire fiction as well, but the fear of sex and sexual assault have always been a driver of literary vampires' horror and allure. Writers seem eternally split between desire for the vampire and revulsion at that very lust, even from the moments that the creatures first graced the page.
There's a great tradition of vampiric fiction both using vampirism to evoke sexual predators and making vampires themselves desirably sexy. Thus, given that it is very concerned with sexual assault and bodily autonomy as themes, often uses predation by a vampire to evoke sexual violence, and is deeply horny about vampires and blood drinking, Jun Mochizuki's The Case Study of Vanitas is actually one of if not the best modern successor to the canon of early vampire literature. SCREENSHOTS I GOT FROM THE JEREMY JORDAN LIVESTREAM YESTERDAY. especially love the comments on his duck drawings. he was very proud of some of them since he needed to practice before the stream. he admits he does not draw much lol

ok i don't know whether what i'm about to assume is true but based on your icon and username i would say you're more of an eddie girlie and not a buck girlie (please correct me if i'm wrong) and if that's actually the case i just want to say it is SO refreshing seeing an eddie stan being so bucktommy positive, i feel like crying lowkey 😭 i bet there are more like you but sadly i haven't seen any (aside from maybe one person on xitter but i also don't know if they are an eddie stan and i'm also wondering if it's just you at this point) so i just want to say you are very VERY much appreciated like i could literally kiss you right now !! if you're not an eddie stan excuse my ask 🙈 but it still doesn't change the fact that i appreicate you
so you're not wrong i guess, i mentioned this in another ask but my reading of buck and eddie's sexualities has never really been about b*ddie, so i think i'm less attached to the pairing than others. I also like them as characters for different reasons i guess.
buck is my favourite because i see a lot of myself and my own experiences in him (especially my childhood), and then eddie is one of those characters that i look at and am like "wtf is wrong with you? i need to figure you out."
also at the end of the day i'm an adult, like i loved eddie in s6 because character wise there was a lot to dig into, but i'm not married to him, right now the thing that has me excited about 911 is buck and tommy and i'm not gonna pretend otherwise because of weird loyalty to my tumblr url.

One of the things that is always present in the back of my mind is both my mother and my godmother also have a tumblrs and I don't actually know either of their URLs (never thought to ask), and whenever I'm interacting with a new blog that's even vaguely in their respective fandom spaces I'm reminded the chance it's them is low but never zero. Which is fun.
