#please don’t ignore rafah
Text
Israel has planned its latest bombing campaign around the American consumer. They waited for the Super Bowl to begin before they launched a violent attack on Rafah Refugee Camp.
So between the noise of Beyoncé’s new album, Taylor Swift cheering on her boyfriend and Usher’s performance, we are viewing the corpses of dead children.
We are truly living in dystopian times.

If somehow you haven’t seen by now, while the Super Bowl is being aired, Israel is striking Rafah.
The people of Palestine had been told to go there, they were promised it was safe.
And while this is happening, even though earlier several tags on Palestine were trending, only one or two are now.
I haven’t written any posts personally on Palestine myself. I didn’t feel I had anything to add here aside from reblogging and boosting whatever I can but please. We can’t forget Palestine or its people especially now.
This has gone on too long and gone much much too far MANY times and now is when we need to push harder.
Many of the heads of Western countries are either beating around the bush and wasting time, or outright denying the things the Palestinian people don’t have the privilege to ignore. They don’t have the choice to look away from their pain, or the pain of friends, family, neighbors, their country. And even through all of this they’re still trying their damn hardest just to live. And we all need to listen.
So now, especially if you live in a western country like I do, now we step it up a notch. Now is the time if you haven’t already to read up on Palestinian history. Listen to what the people of Palestine are saying. Hold firm on the boycott like never before. Any and every way you can donate, do it. eSIMs, aid, anything that will reach. Save as much evidence as you can. Videos, articles. Don’t let Zionists pretend all of this never happened.
Even if you think there’s nothing you can do, I’m telling you, keep going. Even if you feel you can only give a little, if we all give a little together it becomes much more.
Hit imperialism where it hurts. In the wallet. Follow the BDS instructions, find protests in your area if you can, boost as much information about Palestine as you can find, call your reps, and do not lose hope. The people of Palestine are not dead. They are holding on even through all this and we all owe it to them to do the same.
A Free Palestine will happen in our lifetimes. But it will be hard fought. So go out there and fight hard! The governments can’t hide from their own people forever. The companies can’t bleed cash forever. The people will win. So push until we do. Do not look away. Free Palestine

No thanks, I won’t get on my knees and beg Jew haters to please maybe care about me for once, the whole Jewish community is over that. I don’t believe in any way that you are good faith, but if miraculously you are, then here’s your explanation
You reblogged several posts whining about an ad that was put in the Super Bowl with the message that… Jew hatred is bad, and to not engage with it. Very evil, I know. It also contained a scene of a Jew and Muslim helping each other clean up Islamiphobic vandalism. It had no mention of Israel, has no connection to Israel, this ad has been in the Super Bowl since 2022, the only thing that people are mad about is that it was created and funded by Jews, and its message is that Jew hatred is still a very prevalent and dangerous thing that gets Jews hurt and killed all the fucking time
You yourself said you didn’t even watch the fucking ad, then why do you feel the need to spread this bullshit? I get that you think that Jews control the media and that every acknowledgment of Jewish existence is akin to a hate crime, but could you at least keep that stuff private, because this is an embarrassing show of bias and ignorance
Not a Jew hater but okay.
I shared the posts because Rafah got attacked during the Super Bowl and I figured people should know so I reblogged the posts I saw that mentioned that Rafah got attacked. Should I have looked up the Super Bowl ad itself to double check/verify whether or not it was an 'antisemitism is bad' campaign or a 'hey btw Israel is right to genocide millions of people' campaign? In hindsight, yeah, I really should have. And I'll try not to make that mistake in the future.
Also I don't think I've watched a Super Bowl since like 2016, or at least no further than 'oh half time is on? OK cool bye'. I wouldn't know if an ad campaign's been going on since 2022 anyways
No, I don't think Jews control the media? That's just fucking stupid. And no, I don't think every acknowledgement of Jewish existence is akin to a hate crime. I've reblogged tons of posts decrying antisemitism and violence against Jewish people over the course of the past few months, let alone over the entire course of me having a Tumblr.
Of course, I suppose I (someone who's not Jewish) can't really be the ultimate judge on whether or not I'm antisemetic, even if I try to keep any internalized societal biases in check with the facts and logic I'm aware of. IDK if one anon can either though.
I'm sorry I offended you though. I'll be more careful to double check/verify stuff in the future. Whether or not you choose to continue following this blog, though, is up to you ultimately.

thank you for the response. no hate or anything but i think talking about these things is what gets us somewhere! i defo do think think this is something that we will all never agree on and that’s fine but hope that we can continue to have conversations around it
just to pick up on the idea that - “celebs don't know half the shit going on in the world. they don't have the education, world view or the time for it and that's the sad reality. it's always a losing cause waiting for celebs to come through” - i think this is a very privileged and ignorant stance to have. there is no one stopping you from seeking out the knowledge, open a book, watch a video, do a google search. if we as people, in the context of palestine as this is what we are talking about, are having to wade through this biased media narrative and fight for what we believe to be right then celebs have the same access if not more, to educate themselves. that should not absolve them of responsibility.
@copsehamilton on twt/x said the following which i think best words what i believe a lot of people are trying to say about lewis’ stance - “I promise you guys, you can be a Lewis fan & have conversations as his fans about how he uses his platform. We all come from different backgrounds & our lived experiences are different. For those of us who have lived and breathed the Palestinian liberation, language matters”
this is especially what i was trying to say when talking about the stance that celebs are taking. wording matters because unfortunately celebs do have more reach than us and right now palestinians are fighting not just the settler colony but the rest of the western world - their appreciation when someone posts shadowing light on their situation means more than anything to them, they are begging for people to share their stories because that’s how social change happens. while i say this please do not think that this absolves western nations, humanitarian organisations from their responsibilities, but imagine if a celeb was to post that no humanitarian aid is getting in to gaza through the rafah crossing - it would reach a target audience that perhaps could not be reached by regular people who are sharing & posting, or by politicians etc.
i don’t know, i don’t want to clog your inbox so will just leave it there, but i am glad these conversations are being had
honestly i'm frustrated reading some bullshit takes these celebs have been sharing the past few days. outright support for the colonizer and their lies. onesided foul cries, i've seen them. it's disgusting and needs to be called out. they're loud and wrong out of whatever influence, ignorance or privilege they have.
i mean privilege is literally synonymous with most celebs isn't it? so that tracks. and that's what i'm saying. they're privileged as fuck. for someone so out of touch to start educating themselves they first need to even clock there's something wrong somewhere. that they're probably on the wrong side of history. you feel me? and we're expecting these people to pick up a book and influence others then it's over before it can even start.
lewis is privileged in many senses too but one thing he's not allowed is ever taking a step wrong. we see that every day. and i'm not victimizing him, it's just a fact. he's decided to champion social and political causes and he's actively trying to educate himself and do better in these spaces. and he does from time to time but it's always nitpicked to hell with always losing focus from the actual cause. same happened with this one. first it was his silence that was harmful and now it's his neutrality that is harmful. so like business as usual with the moving goalposts.
and let's not forget, if you're his follower you know where he stands. so what has changed?
yes, language matters. but it's also important to know where the discourse has gone. the nuance is lost. he simply said let's have peace and let's not kill children. what's wrong with that? what's wrong with being on the side of innocent lives? how did that turn into oh look he's promoting genocide? he shared links for funds of the orgs working in the region, he legit amplified them to his 35m followers like everyone wants him to, he's still getting hated on. how's he getting called worse person than that racist piket spawn?
imo at the end of the day this is misplaced anger. we're all feeling helpless for Palestine. we can see how the world's moving. we want more voices in their corner. which is valid and so is the disappointment. but there's global superpowers supporting is*ael and vetoing ceasefire so let's ask this one guy who mind you wants ceasefire, to change the world's direction? how is that even an option? seems to me he's just an easy target for frustrations and pain everyone is feeling atp (both are valid btw) but how's that fair to him?
and yeah, you're probably right. we might never agree on this. but same. no hate at all. these are terrible times and i do want to learn more too.

I’m so distraught. I can’t stop thinking about the body parts of children hanging from the walls of Rafah Refugee Camp. And the world doesn’t seem to care. People are so easily fooled into just caring about celebrities and sporting events.
Please don’t ignore Rafah. Please don’t be an easy consumer of celebrity culture. Please use your voice until the end.
