“Anyways, what I’m trying to say, I guess, is that I’ll protect you ‘til the day I meet my maker,” he says quietly, assuming she’s asleep.
He’s surprised by her responding hum. A smile curls over her lips and she murmurs, “goofball. We’ve already met the gods.” She reaches out, eyes still closed, and cups his cheek in her hand.
“Then I guess I’ll protect you long beyond that.”

One major thing that struck me in season 1 of my Heroes rewatch is that SO MANY characters in the show kind of baby Peter in really gross ways once you think about them. It's... very familiar treatment, I'm sure, to anyone who's neurodivergent or struggled with mental illness. That sort of condescending way people coo and think you’re adorably incompetent or something like that.
Talking about how Peter is going to hurt himself and others with his behavior, acting like he's incapable of taking care of himself, etc., etc.
From my memories it does get BETTER past the first season, but uhhhh... I don't think it ever fully disappears from how other characters treat Peter.
And yeah, into the third season (I skipped the second) and getting to Dual... yeah, Nathan says Peter has a habit of letting others down in a way in this really kind of patronizing way.
And also in Dual, I find it interesting that when Angela said, “My sons have been disappointments and I wanted another chance. I wanted to give you a mother’s love.” Sylar’s lie-detecting ability only goes off with the second part, suggesting she honestly does consider her sons disappointments (at least at that moment in time).
Heck, even future!Peter kind of treats his past self like this (a sad commentary on how this has been internalized)... I get it’s all part of the kind of crazy sequence of events needed to get Peter to the future, but MAN does it say something about how he sees himself that he just shoves Past Peter into another person’s body to get himself out of the way.
But I remember that one post about how part of the appeal of Enemies to Lovers is that frequently the enemies relationship has to involve some kind of RESPECT, and I think that really applies to Petlar. Or at least Petlar as a functional relationship.
When Sylar has underestimated Peter in canon, he's paid for it dearly (looking at you, S3 finale). I think a post-S4 Sylar is anything from amused to annoyed by people who try to infantilize Peter, as he knows damn well by this point what the man is capable of.
Just imagine some character, cooing over Peter like a baby in a pram, while Sylar is flashbacking to the Nail Gun Incident.

Sharing this stunning commission @kenobiwanx made for me. Thank you so much for accepting this work, your art is wonderful and warms my heart!! 🖤
When I decided to watch Heroes a few months ago, I didn't expect these characters to touch me the way they did. I can identify so much with Sylar in many ways, and Peter has won my heart despite all the frustration (affectionate) I felt, I felt for these two. The complexity and potential of their relationship, particularly after The Wall, is certainly compelling and I'm so glad I fell for them.
@gamebird I thought you might like to see this 🖤

Y'know maybe Peter and Sylar really did get together in the end since they seem to be inseparable in the ebook between Heroes and Heroes Reborn.

for the ship meme: peter x sylar
hero loves villain back to the light what more do you want!!!
they're two sides of the same coin, in power but also in personality - just imagine them growing up with all circumstances reversed! the show literally proves Peter would've been no better at handling the Hunger than he. they get each other like no one else in the world ever could
we only got scraps post-show but. Sylar being Peter's literal powerbank, and Peter basically bullying (almost) everyone into accepting Sylar's presence by declaring them a package deal?? hello???? can i hear a HELL YES

This is a day-by-day account of what happens between Peter and Sylar when they were trapped inside each other's head in The Wall. It is a collaborative writing project between gamebird (writing Peter's sections) and means2bhuman (who writes Sylar's sections). Sections are divided by XXX. After each division, point of view switches and the story continues from the other character's perspective.
After a hiatus of several years, my writing partner and I will be resuming! Expect the first new chapter in a month or two.

turns out the mob boss likes gardening and stargazing, which obviously immediately skyrockets him to the top of my favorites list

Say what you will about the show overall, but I still really appreciate how NBC Heroes had canonical enemies to friends.
(And in my mind, to lovers).
