New York: Restaurantul preferat de israelieni a pierdut steaua Michelin
“Anul acesta, la New York, există un spirit de reînnoire” În cadrul faimoasei ceremonii de decernare a stelelor Michelin pentru cele mai bune restaurante, “Peter Luger”, restaurantul de carne preferat al israelienilor din New York, a pierdut steaua Michelin pentru prima dată în 38 de ani. Legendarul restaurant de fripturi a fost deschis în 1887 și a devenit un punct de reper culinar, istoric și…

I Make The Best Damn BURGER in All of New York
I Make The Best Damn BURGER in All of New York
. . . MINETTA TAVERN Good Burgers, but Far From The Best . . New York’s Best Burger Who makes it? Or who makes, plural, New York’s Best Burgers. Well first off, Minetta Tavern does not make the Best Burger in New York. Far from it. And of the Burgers at Minetta Tavern, forget the highly overrated Black Label Burger, the Minetta Burger has it beat, though there are better Burgers in New…

Pro Wrestling Illustrated: August 1995
in focus
By Craig Peters
UNCENSORED? UNWATCHABLE!
It was an unprecedented break with style in March when PWI Weekly used the space normally reserved for a cover story to print an editorial condemning the WCW Uncensored pay-per-view event. But it certainly wasn’t uncalled for.
After all, WCW Uncensored was perhaps the worst wrestling pay-per-view event in history.
Of course, it wouldn’t have been so bad had expectations not been so high. After all, the advance publicity for the event promised unbridled mayhem, unrivaled violence, and unsurpassed thrills.
What viewers of the event got was unparalleled boredom.
I was one of those viewers (though, thankfully, I watched the event at a friend’s house; had I paid for WCW Uncensored, I’d be really angry!). I can honestly say that I haven’t had so much anticipatory excitement for a pay-per-view in years.
Sadly (but to their credit), only The Nasty Boys and Harlem Heat came close to raising the kind of hell needed to rise to the occasion. For the rest of the competitors on the card, WCW Uncensored was nothing to censor, nothing special, nothing worth spending $27.95 to see.
What a disappointment!
And more so after I learned a few bits of information.
Like the fact that apparently there’s a TBS/Ted Turner policy of standards and practices that says there ought not to be too much violence on television. (I wonder if the people who came up with this policy watch TBS and the Turner-owned Cartoon Network, which airs tons of Tom & Jerry cartoons, among the most violent stuff on TV.) And the fact that because of this policy, viewers of WCW Uncensored were treated to camera angles that showed a wide view of the Tupelo Coliseum crowd rather than Big Van Vader trying to bash Hulk Hogan’s head in with a chair.
[Perhaps the most ridiculous part of WCW Uncensored was when Hulk Hogan beat Big Van Vader in a strap match by dragging Ric Flair to all four corners of the ring (above). Any Sandman-Cactus Jack ECW match (opposite page) figures to be more violent than anything shown on WCW Uncensored.]
Call the event WCW Censored To The Max.
It is also because of this policy PWI has learned, that the Blacktop Bully-Dustin Rhodes match was edited down to cleanliness. Say what? That’s right, edited down. The match was not aired live; it was videotaped earlier. The match had gotten significantly bloody, and the more violent and bloody portions had been edited out of the tape.
This in uncensored?
Maybe somebody ought to explain to the people at TBS that wrestling is a violent sport. That is to try to legislate the violence out of it is impossible, and that to try to not broadcast the more violent aspects of it is like trying to broadcast a basketball game without showing the ball going through the net.
In a word: absurd.
And what would have happened had, say, Sting’s head gotten busted open during his match with Big Bubba Rogers? In all likelihood, it would have been like Lex Luger vs. Ric Flair in Baltimore on July 10, 1988, when an important title march was stopped on the smallest hint of blood. Anybody in the Baltimore Arena that night can vividly remember how outraged the fans were.
Perhaps the most baffling portion of the evening was when Hulk Hogan dragged Ric Flair to all four corners of the ring to win the strap match. Unfortunately, he was wrestling Vader at the time. Shouldn’t the match have been ordered to continue?
Stu Saks accuses me of being a convert to ECW only because the office has moved to the Philadelphia area, and ECW is convenient. Perhaps he’s right; had the office moved to a location near Pittsburgh, maybe I’d be singing the praises of Steel City Wrestling. Maybe not. But the fact of the matter remains: There is more censorable wrestling action in a typical broadcast of ECW’s weekly television show than there was in more than two hours of the WCW pay-per-view event.
If you’re going to have a pay-per-view event that promises to be ultraviolet, don’t edit out the violence, and don’t cut away to the crowd during violent portions of the card. Above all, don't even consider having such an event in the first place if the TBS standards and practices are such that the event isn’t given a chance to succeed before the opening bell rings.
WCW Uncensored was unwatchable… and unforgivable.

In the fighting game Skullgirls, Parasoul Renoir (voiced by Rie Tanaka and Erin Fitzgerald) is one of the original playable characters. Parasoul is the Princess of the Renoir family and the older sister of Umbrella. She has red hair with bangs that sweep over her right eye. Parasoul wears a high neck, long sleeves, and a mini skirt all in black. She also wears a silver necklace with a cross of St. Peter identical to the one worn by her mother and a pair of black flats. Parasoul favors a Luger pistol and the Living Weapon Krieg, which looks like a large, black umbrella. Collect all the accessories of Parasoul Renoir costume from Skullgirls for Halloween and cosplay.

This is a fun one. “Hi, Anna. Hi, Brian. I’m a chef, and I was always —” Chef! “I was always fascinated by the eating scenes in your show. So much so that one time I said to myself, ‘Fuck this,’ and I stopped the binge watch because we were locked down because of COVID. There is one specific scene at the end of an episode where Chuck and Ira are eating some meat, I guess. Please talk about those scenes, because obviously they are very important for you and Dave. Take care, Nuno.”
Oh, yeah, that scene where they’re eating meat, um, they go to both… they go to Peter Luger and, but — the episode starts at Salt Bae and ends at Peter Luger. Well, we were saying a lot in that episode about the intrinsic quality in things. Um… I think food — David and I think that the way people share mealtime in that space, and the kind of fellowship around that, always means something. In New York, the restaurants also say something about access and power and taste. And the show exists in those worlds. And so each of those things comes from hours of conversation and planning and thinking. And they all work — if they work, they all work together. So I’m glad when people like you, Chef, catch that and pick up on the significance of it. I don’t, like, wanna say too much about what each scene means. I really like leaving that up to the viewer. But there is zero doubt that it’s really important and significant to us.
How do you pick the restaurants? Or, like, what the characters are eating? What do you mean, how? Like, what — like, when you’re storyboarding, are you at one point like, “Okay, Chuck’s gonna be eating X in this scene?” Well, maybe some — Is that just kind of in, like… you just know, intuitively? Or is it —
No, we talk, Dave and I talk about it, and we’ll talk about it with Beth, too, who works with us on the show. And then, um… Or do you ever — Or we’ll talk to our locations department and — what? Do you ever, like, eat something and then think of the scene in which they’d be eating it after? Like, are you ever inspired by the food? Or is it always the other way? Well, you’ll go, we’ll go to a restaurant… yeah, any time I go to a restaurant, I’m like, “Could this be, does this make sense for the show?” But also, the meaning of the different restaurants in the city.
—————
I use index cards to, to put acts up with David. David and I do that, David writes ‘em, usually. You have a full season, though, lined out in your office. Yes, we use, for the season, we will put on a whiteboard — for the episodes, we do that, like, they go up on a whiteboard. But it’s still words, it’s not — and, and the visual thing’s just what follows what. So yes, there’s an order, and we’re looking at the order of scenes. But when I was young and I started watching and becoming obsessed with movies, I, it manifested in me by memorizing dialogue. Like, I think in terms of dialogue. My outlines are dialogue-heavy. I think of story in terms of the things people say. Mm-hmm. And that’s, you can see that in our work. Different people approach this stuff differently. I really like the way words sound, I really like meter. So for me, I need music, ‘cause sound is so important. So I have music going a lot of the time when I’m writing. And that music has a rhythm, and then that affects, maybe, the meter of how, like, the pace of the scene but also the meter of the dialogue. And then in my head, the dialogue, there’s a meter. That’s what pushes the story forward. And I’m always hearing it. I’m thinking in, I’ll say it out loud. I’m, I’m, I’m big on talking the story out and, and hearing it, and this goes, happens, and that happens, and that’s what helps me. But the visual stuff really helps people, and I think the main thing is, like, however it works for you is valid and I would just keep doing more of that until you find the thing. I mean, sometimes I can’t write a scene until I have the right music. And then sometimes I have to have no music and, and I need to just hear the, ‘cause I can’t quite find the meter, and the meter of the words is, is just… when the meter’s right, when I feel it bah-bit-dah-bah-bit, you know, however that works — that’s when I can, that’s when I can really go and fly.

🍔 Review № 585 ━ 📍 Peter Luger Steakhouse ★★★★☆ • Peter Luger Steakhouse opened in Williamsburg, New York back in 1887. In 1984 they got their first Michelin star, and they’ve held on to it for almost 40 years now. Williamsburg has slowly but surely become a very hip area, but the restaurant has kept its classic styling and interiors. Their menu contains a Luger-Burger for 20 USD, which is only served during lunch hours and consisted of a 1/2 lb beef patty in a burger bun. We added cheese and bacon for 2 and 8 USD respectively. We had problems choosing between french fries and the German fried potatoes for 16 USD, but the waiter convinced us to choose the former. While we waited for our food we got a basket with bread, butter and steak sauce to start with. • Our burger came served with all ingredients on the side, and after assembling it we almost considered eating with utensils, considering the restaurant’s status. But we let our instincts rule, and ate with our hands instead. The patty was the immediate star, with clearly dry-aged beef and an excellent crust. The bacon tasted amazing, but was a bit chewy for its size and pretty hard to chew through – a bit of a disappointment considering how expensive it was. But the cheese was shiny, prettily melted and well worth its asking price. The bun had a slightly too tall crown and a bit difficult to eat, and the heel got a bit soggy towards the end due to all the beef juices. The french fries tasted nice, but considering their price we regretted our decision a bit. • Peter Luger Steakhouse definitely know their meat, but the burger had a few problems that stopped it from achieving greatness. And with such a high price tag they can’t really afford any mistakes. But you should still visit them for a simple cheeseburger or some of their other meat dishes, because this was one of the cosiest Michelin star restaurants we’ve ever visited. ━ @peterlugersteakhouse #burger #burgers #burgertime #burgerporn #burgerdudes #burgerlovers #food #foodie #hamburger #hamburgare #newyork #newyorkburgers #🍔 #🍟 #🇺🇸 (at Peter Luger Steak House) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ci1qTD3Dmqa/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Eleven Madison Park
The first restaurant in this list is "New York's No1 vegan restaurant" Eleven Madison Park.

Le Pavillon
One of Jessica's favourite French restaurants in New York is Chef Daniel Boulud's Le Pavillon in One Vanderbilt. The restaurant is frequently visited by stars from Mariah Carey, Bill & Hillary Clinton to Taylor Swift. The natural landscape designed by Isay Weinfield and the traditional French cuisines with a contemporary spirit have placed Le Pavillon on top of the New York's cool list.

Sushi Yasuda
The well-known Japanese restaurant Sushi Yasuda with fresh fish flown in from Japan in New York is Jessica's next recommendation. With a classic bamboo setting, the restaurant ignites a sense of minimalism in Japanese's lifestyle, as well as hard working culture that Jessica Minh Anh appreciates.
