ok my two fav reads of this year are a power unbound by freya marske and perilous times by thomas d. lee! a power unbound is the 3rd in a trilogy and is romantic fantasy historical fiction - EXPLICIT, not ya. i have seen it shelved as ya and. it is not lol

perilous times is a fantastic interpretation of arthurian legend with current themes of climate crisis/spec fic!!!!!!! plus the cover is the coolest thing ever, literally the main reason i bought it and when i took it to the counter the cashier was like omg that's the coolest cover so iykyk

ALSO not read recently but a fav is the charioteer by mary renault! underrated lgbt classic i hadn't even heard of it before i picked it up. so so SO worth the read. wwii historical fiction with gay drama. i am trivialising it but it's soooo good and her prose is just chef's kiss. all three books are!
