The funniest part of The Witch from Mercury's ending is that Prospera just gets to be Farmland Meemaw.

Although, in writing this post, I think I've come to realize that the reason she doesn't get arrested is like... there's nothing that actually ties her to anything. The Assembly League had enough information to start an investigation, but couldn't really get past the start because of how uncooperative Belmeria was at first. Quiet Zero and Aerial both dissolved into space dust, so there was no physical evidence to connect her to Quiet Zero or even Quinnharbor. She also never made any megalomaniacal announcement of her intention, so all they have to go off is Suletta telling the Assembly League inspector her mom was there, which she could just as easily be like "uh, I was wrong!"

And look at her, she's just a lil' old Farmland Meemaw in an oversized cardigan and neckwarmer because she's a little chilly, she's harmless.
