Hi this is very out of left field but my friend and I have been wanting to making peeps wine and I went down a rabbit hole looking for instructions and found you via the original person's page. Do you have a recipe we can try out? We're new to anything like this and the battlecrazed-axe-mage account hasn't got back to me. If not that's fine
basically just follow any mead making tutorial but replace the honey with an equivalent amount of peeps. Roughly you need about 1.5 kg of sugar per 4 L of mead (3 lbs per gallon). Use the nutrition facts on the peeps to figure out how many you need for that sugar content.
If it's your first time brewing I recommend getting a kit so you have the right supplies and sanitizer.

I would just look up the username here, but whoever screenshotted the bitch and posted it on Quora also censored the urls.
for this one, i didn't need a username. the text in the post was enough. i went on down to the Search Bar and asked the Don for the exact phrase of "peepswine moodboard" comin' from tumblr. and i wouldn't accept anything that didn't have that exact wordin'. luckily, they handed me the link directly to the post i was lookin' for without any hassle. i grabbed it up and filed it away back at my office.

I keep getting asked by the other students and lab techs/assistants/professors what the dark bits are. When I tell them they're the eyes, everyone so far has been creeped out.
And I laugh and tell them "They know what we've done, and they judge us for it."

Sorry for the silence, it's been a busy time here (but not with the peep wine. I'm checking on them today but last week we took readings and they're fermenting! Just very low ethanol numbers right now. But that makes sense as it was only a week out from the start)
I was asked for the recipe for this wild experiment. Here's what I have so far. Please note that we have done the 186 peeps but also 164 peeps and our "wild card" batch of ???? Peeps. 186 is the proper amount to get a 1.1 specific gravity according to a calculator online. We didn't have enough peeps for two proper batches as we did the calculations in the lab. Who would have thought 350 peeps wouldn't be enough?? 😂
😂😂 the recipe is not entirely precise but:
Peep Wine Recipe (experimental)
Ingrédients:
4.5L water
186 peeps
Half-ish a packet of sparkling wine yeast (or other high-ethanol-tolerance yeast)
Melt the peeps in a pot with some of the water. DO NOT HEAT ABOVE 160°F. Heating just to like, 40°C is fine (yes those are two different units. I am Canadian and someone gave me a F temp but we used C to monitor)
You just want to melt the peeps to a point you can mix them with the yeast without lumps and you can put them in the fermenting container easily.
It will foam A LOT. Most of this foam will re-liquify but some will just end up staying as foam because of the gelatin (we assume)
Put the yeast in warm (30-40C) water according to the directions.
After the melted peeps have cooled a bit, and the foam hopefully has gone down, pour into the container. Most will re-liquify as I stated above. Add the remaining water to fill up to 4.5L
Pour in the yeast when the peeps are cool enough, make sure it gets into the main liquid peep mixture, not just on the foam.
Seal the container and have an air lock on it.
Please note that if the foam is too high it will be pushed out into the airlock. If it gets out of the airlock, it will solidify on the air lock, closing and pressurising the container and that's not great lmao. Foam will get everywhere when you open it. You can probably guess how I know this. Yeah...
As for how long to keep it fermenting... That's what we're gonna find out 😂😂

Can you share any tips/values from peep wine? Ive picked up a a lot if free time, and perhaps the ingredients,
Make sure you dissolve the peeps slowly! The yeast create a lot of tiny bubbles which normally dissipate instantly, but the gelatin gives them enough structure to turn into a ton of foam if you're not careful. Start by filling no more than 1/3 of the vessel at a time!

Seeing the peepswine reminds me of the adventure with that horrible sparkly yellow gel candy ice cream topping stuff you used for brewing the one time.
It was especially wild seeing the stuff staying very stubbornly on the shelves until about 4 months back, where they finally made it to the clearance rack and the price dropped week to week in an increasingly desperate unspoken "please, for the love of God, just take them," which ended with a shelf full of them for 3¢ a bottle.
I wish I'd gotten a picture of it.
Honestly 3 cents is probably more than it's worth
The stuff I brewed from it legit ended up tasting like battery acid, and I chalked it up to the citric acid maybe? Like my logic was the corn syrup all got fermented out and left only the sour, bitter flavors
Except then recently someone showed me a video of a creative brewer who made booze out of Mountain Dew and ended up with a pleasant citrusy wine, and that's got HELLA citric acid in it, right? So I have no idea what could've happened with the yellow glitter goo. Maybe it's just evil ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
