From what I've been able to observe, unfortunately, some (but not all) anti-shippers seem to spend their precious time charging against shippers' work in a bad way. I have really never posted anything like this at all. If you look at my blog, it is embarrassingly fixated pretty much on one subject, maybe two. But I am feeling different about what is happening now. And I am hesitant to post this because my blog is really just about one thing, that I love and that is fun and beautiful. And who wants to mess with that? But I feel an urge to express this, perhaps to help explain what is happening in the world right now, so I am.

I think what is happening in Israel now taps into a very real, deep-seated fear that a lot of Jews have, that there is a possibility that we can be slaughtered. It happened to our grandparents in Russia and Poland. It happened to our great uncles and aunts in Germany. We haven't seen such wanton slaughter in a while. But we have seen it, and there are people still alive who have experienced it! This specter lurks in our collective consciousness and has suddenly become extremely real.

That fear, of give the right people the chance, and they will slaughter us, is something we have heard as lore, And now, here it is.

And I don't know how many other people in the world actually feel this way, can actually empathize with that existence. I imagine blacks in America might have a similar fear. And certainly there are tribes in Africa who do experience this as well, with all of the horrible conflict happening there. But your average red-blooded American, or blond haired Western European, or northern Slav has never felt this fear.

So that is why I feel compelled to write today. No one wants to live in a world where the possibility of slaughter is real.

And to those who will respond that this is retaliation for oppression and colonization, I would say, they slaughtered us before the land of Israel existed, they slaughtered us in their own lands when we lived there, over centuries. It is not retaliation for anything, except perhaps for Abraham choosing Isaac over Ishmael.

The radicals hate us and will always hate us. They hate, they teach hate, they act on that hate. And so we will defend against it.

And as Golda Meir so poignantly said, we will only have peace with the Arabs when they learn to love their children more than they hate ours. Hamas sacrifices their own people to kill us, and kill more of us, and everybody loses.

I fervently pray for peace and mutual understanding, and for this horrific bloodshed to stop.

We will never stop talking about world peace as long as there are still wars occurring wherever they are. Wanting world peace is always relevant and always justifiable. War has existed since the beginning of human history but that does not mean that war will always exist as long as humans exist.

Our history is mostly about war and a little of our history is not about war, we can increase the part of our history that is not about war. It is possible for humanity to go further without wars. We can end all wars, world peace is attainable. I am for peace. ☮️
