Something a little different today, if you don't mind. I unearthed this relic last night. From Murray Katzen Records, part of Murray Katzen Productions, the creator of the classic sci-fi tv show, Spacetime Sally, if you're here, you're probably familiar.

I present to you 1970s garage rock band, The Reverend, His Minions, and Me and their debut 5-song EP 'This Generous Empty Offering' - here's a youtube link with song chapters, if you'd prefer.

Murray Katzen, producer of the original Spacetime Sally wanted some of that variety show money in the heyday of the 70s. Sonny & Cher. Tony Orlando & Dawn. The Osmonds. The Brady Kids. SId and Marty Krofft even had a Bay City Rollers Saturday morning variety show.

Katzen also wanted that Partridge Family action. He also saw how the kids loved the music interludes in the Scooby-Doo cartoons. I certainly didn't. You know, all of a sudden there'd be a montage of the gang being chased through an abandoned haunted factory/fairgrounds/mansion and that hippy music would kick on, "Sha-na-na-na, na-na-na, na-na" and they'd run through all the doorways in a hallway multiple times.

Anyway, The Reverend, His Minions, and Me, was Katzen's ticket into the music world. They recorded this EP, This Generous Empty Offering, and they imploded, leaving Katzen with some nasty debt and a further tarnished reputation.

Track 2, Fantastic Starlight, was written for the Spacetime Sally show, but never used and unfortunately shelved.

Welcome home! No wait...ah sorry welcome my neighbor!!

(Disclaimer: this is based off of @/starling27444 "welcome my home" idea and I do not own welcome home that belongs to @/partycoffin this is just a little fun thing I'm making)

Welcome My Neighbor was a financially successful and critically acclaimed educational spin off show of welcome home join Patches Bashful and her colorful neighbors taking part in nonsensical fun! And teaching puzzling solving skills while learning the value of being not only a friend but a true neighbor one big family!

In this spin off it had 16 puppets in Total (not counting the actual neighbors of welcome home making an appearance) however the show only focused on eight neighbors much like it's original counterpart

Patches Bashful taking the place of Wally Darling as main character contrary to her name Patches is shy but she also balances charisma when needed even though she's terrified she's willing to be brave for her friends (she's not self aware)

Pepper shanty replaces his cousin Barnaby b Beagle pepper also happens to be Patches best friend he's very bold yet sarcastic if necessary normally unnecessarily though pepper and his twin sister Penny own a ship called the "S.S Oreo"

Dream honeysuckle replaces her wife Poppy partridge dream is described to be very calming and put together making sure her dear neighbors are kept in check (she's self aware) dream owns a therapy which is called "Cloudy therapy" much like Poppy, Barnaby, and Howdy Dream's puppet would switch between normal and live action however unlike them she was the tallest saying to be around 9ft

Clover honeybee taking Sally starlet's place much like in the original show of welcome home Clover was always seen near Sally helping her put on plays this does happen in welcome my neighbor but not often clover is used to teach puzzle solving skills to a younger audience clover and her older brother's have a little news paper business called "buggy news and more"

Bonnie Bonnibel replaces Eddie dear however unlike our dear mailman Bonnie works in a detective agency that she owns which is called "lost and found services" where she'll solve any case faster than clover could bring flowers to a hive however Bonnie is clumsy very clumsy especially when she uses her wings (Bonnie's an angel in disguise only willing to show her wings)

Lucky bug replaces Julie joyful however unlike Julie, lucky is shown to be very annoying working as a fortune teller she'll probably give you the wrong fortune on purpose (she's self aware)

Star Midnight replaces frank frankly much like in welcome home star is the villain of the story causing issues and problems for our neighbors setting up adventures that takes up the entire day

And finally Mellow creame replaces her enemy howdy pillar working as a ice cream lady mellow would be featured in episodes handing out ice cream sometimes even partaking in the neighbors antics mellow's job is called "Ice cream and fun"

It's believed that inky splotch was supposed to replace home due to the fact that she only communicates through squeaks and of course Morse code much like how home uses onomatopoeias (creaks and bangs)

The other welcome my neighbor puppets would make an appearance in different episodes depending on what it is

their names were as follows

Dottie spot (whom made more appearances than the rest) Dottie is the milk lady she calls her job "Sweet milk and tins" she's a silent type however when trying to say something she's swiftly cut off by something

Inky/inkurali splotch (she was normally seen in the background helping her neighbors) only communicates through squeaks and Morse code sometimes chirps inky makes paint and other equipment regarding it

Toasty sweetheart his puppet was said to be the most expensive due to the fact he would switch between animation and puppet Toasty is a magician he was based off rubberhose cartoon animation

Dizzy and Dixie Honeybell they work in slimy's circus they are the most certainly rude neighbors putting themselves above others typical

Hallie harmony owns a little bakery called "the Sunny side up bakery and treats" she's a pumpkin witch that lives in the woods with her pet Raven star and pet black cat Spooky

Slimy sugarpelt (whom was married to Bonnie bonnibel) Slimy owned a circus called the "starcaught circus" which is why she never really made an appearance in both shows

Vinyl melody (traveling DJ) which is why she also barely made an appearance in both shows only making appearances in musical episodes or anything related to music such as birthday parties, normal parties, or a chill afternoon

It's said that welcome my neighbor was created due to the fact that there were to many neighbors in welcome home prompting them to make a spin off series which started in 1968 then like welcome home was taken off the air sometime around 1974 it's unknown how many seasons this spin off had in total not being able to find any media or dialogue we were able to recover promotional material and the neighbors themselves which we share with you next time

This misfit colorful array of puppet neighbors all a different species will happily welcome anyone in their large neighborhood much like the small neighborhood of home welcomed them into theirs

Today Live! Can’t wait to sit down with old pal, Steve Conte, who's got one of the greatest rock voices I’ve ever heard (he was Paul Simon's vocal stand-in for years). Steve’s played with just about everyone throughout his career, has a classic Chuck Berry story, for one, and countless other great rock tales.

Steve’s first road gig was touring with Blood Sweat & Tears in the mid-80s, right around the time I began booking him at The Rock ’N Roll Cafe on Bleecker Street in New York. From there, Steve played with J. Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf, the before-mentioned Chuck Berry, toured with Billy Squier, Willy Deville, Eric Burdon, was a member of reformed New York Dolls and has shared the stage with an innumerable number of his heroes from Sam Moore to Springsteen. Steve’s been writing for, recording, and touring with former Hanoi Rocks frontman Michael Monroe for the past 10ish years, supporting Guns & Roses, The Foo Fighters, and Motorhead.

Steve's solo debut, The Steve Conte NYC Album, included a tune, OK DJ, which earned him the #2 Coolest Song of the Year, behind Bruce Springsteen, on Little Steven's Underground Garage... members of the Foo Fighters, Alice Cooper, Mott The Hoople, The Wallflowers, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, to name a few, joined Steve on the album.

Steve’s "covers" album, International Cover-Up, enjoys much airplay on Little Steven's Underground Garage. The opening track, "Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight" was voted #5 Coolest Song Of The Year, behind The Monkees and Ian Hunter, and his Gimme Gimme Rockaway was another Coolest Song of The Week and signaled the solo recognition he’s long deserved.

Steve’s new single, Fourth Of July, co-written with Andy Partridge of XTC, serves as a preview to his upcoming LP, due in 2024, as a follow-up to his acclaimed solo album, Bronx Cheer, released on Little Steven’s label, Wicked Cool Records in 2021, which featured the single, Recovery Doll, which also enjoyed a week as the Coolest Song In The World, on The Underground Garage.

Backstory:

Nine was born in the small town Port Lions in Alaska, where he didn’t stay for long as he was soon abducted by Dr Brenner and turned into one of his projects and was tatooed with the number ”009”. Unlike most of the other projects he didn’t have any telekinetic powers but instead only had telepathic powers. While growing up he became close friends with Eleven

Nine was the only other subject than Eleven to survive One’s massacre of the workers and subjects at the lab. Then a few years later he and Eleven escaped the lab together when she accidentally opened the first portal to the Upside down.

Personality:

”Oh Nine, where to begin with you”. If there was anyone more confusing than Eleven when they found her, it was Nine. Nine is a very quiet person who prefers to listen then talk. He’s a little oblivious and is in his own little world a lot of the time. He’s not the most emotive person either and only shows it to select people or in very emotional circumstances. He has terrible social skills after being raised in the lab is and his go-to introduction is ”I’m Nine, i’m from Alaska”.

Because of his rather neutral personality, people get suprised when he does show emotion. For example when he first watched cartoons on television like reruns of ”The Jetsons”, ”The Flintstones” and ”Scooby Doo, Where are you?” people were suprised to see how invested he was, sitting with his mouth gaping way to close to the screen.

Same goes when they heard him laugh for the first time while reading his favorite comic series. They were hanging out in Mike’s basement a few days after they found him and Eleven and all of sudden they all heard a soft laugh and looked with confused expressions at him and Dustin asked shocked ”Did you just laugh?” and Nine then showed them the comic where Lois Lane goes back in time to krypton and steals Superman’s dad from his mom.

He can also be quite protective of his new friends and family and is extremely loyal to them and would basically explode people’s brains to save them.

Powers:

Telepathy:

Mind Reading.

Empathic abillities.

Speaking telepathically with people.

Mind manipulation.

Minor mind control.

Give people headaches that can range from small harmless ones and ones they die from.

He can also help El with her telepathy by kinda helping extending her telepathic range without the need of a sensory deprevation tank.

Strengths:

Telepathic abillities.

Good music taste.

A damn good poker face.

Weaknesses:

Using his telepathy in big crowds is harder and gives him headaches.

Overuse of his powers can cause exhaustion.

Like Eleven he also has claustrophobia after being locked in a dark room as punishment for whenever he failed one of Dr Brenner’s experiments.

He also has ptsd from the traumatic experiences the hawkins lab brought upon him.

Posting this link here in case anyone else is interested in it. I found a channel on Dailymotion that uploaded the full Partridge Family 2200 A.D. cartoon, so if that appeals to you like it does me here you go.

My only advice is don't allow cookies on the website, since I did at first and it instantly caught my adblocker so I had to go an un-do that to actually watch the episodes.

DC PRIDE #1 has me living for many different reasons so let's go through it story by story

The Wrong Side of the Looking Glass

the mad hatter storyline being pretty much a retelling of kate's upbringing and the fact that her being a lesbian is one part of that but not everything thank god

wonderland parallels keep you more interested in the story bc you know it's mad hatter, you just don't know why he's doing it; just another one of those "i know the ending so the question is how they got there"

By the Victors

constantine just being like that and trying to get gregorio and his husband in bed with him - my guy this is why you constantly run into exes and one night stands i swear

the fact that m and gregorio just casually team up just gets me bc this just further confirms that m will call his friends on missions not just because they're qualified (ref: m being unsure if extraño could undo the, and i'm paraphrasing here, "time blood magic") and calls his friends to join him just cause he can

m's reference to the love story between patroclus and achilles made my heart hurt since it kind of parallels him and andrew and i almost checked the writer before realizing that it was, of course, the one and only Steve Orlando - midpollo's saving grace

also can i just mention how much i love gregorio's costumes they show in this? becuase BOY are they a fantastic, dignified kind of hot; thank you Stephen Byrne

renee being a badass is always amazing

also the fact that she was admiring the defense attorney that would sometimes be arguing against her case is such an Inconvenient Crush that i would love expansion on

i love that you can see the lipstick stain on her mask - that's the reality of kissing in costume, kids

the way they draw all the women's outfits has me so happy and i esp. love renee, valeria's hair as well as the question's coat - it's just so nice to look at (all my love to Skylar Partridge and José Villarrubia)

ant harley and aunt pam being antiheroes soothes all my mortal wounds

btw i love how Amy Reeder draws them; they have such a bad history of being sexualized and it struck me when i finished reading that not once was i uncomfortable with the angles or body proportions and i got to read two antiheroes who are women and bisexuals! and being able to be comfortable with their framing and writing the whole time

harley having cartoon logic as her meta ability is so close i can taste it

the coloring is gorgeous - thank you Marissa Louise

also this format of people arguing while also beating up a villain or carrying out a complex plan is my favorite - i love the dynamic and the dialogue of relationship speak and fighting a large plant monster

i think harley's mallet is alive and honestly that's great for her

"He's the Light of My Life!"

i'm going to be impressed with myself if i don't cry at alan and todd's story

damon being impatient to meet alan is great and i love the flashbacks to when father fought son like "no duh we have issues making smalltalk"

JIMMY AND ALAN I'M GOING TO CRY HE LOST HIS LOVER IN THE TRAIN CRASH THEN BECAME A GL

alan being bad with common slang in the lgbtq+ community is such an Old Queer staple

the fact that they're still kind of awkward at the end but working on getting to know each other is such a breath of the fresh air that is real life familial relationships

Clothes, Makeup, Gift

andy's whole aesthetic is offending me with how cute it is and good lord Lisa Sterle draws us enbys really well

her full body panel with the moon in the background is just amazing - thank you Luciano Vecchio and Rex Lokus

this action is pretty hq not gonna lie

love that brainy is just like "well ok i guess we have an unconscious criminal with us; how are you liking the movie?"
