Pachyphytum bracteosum
Mexico is home to a large assortment of wonderful succulents belonging to the Crassulaceae, or Stonecrop Family. Among these, the species in the genus Pachyphytum are notable for their cartoonishly balloon-like leaves, often with pallid pastel colors. They usually grow on rocks (often on sheer cliffs), and they have inflorescences that nod at the tips, like a scorpion's tail. This one is Pachyphytum bracteosum, and although it has red flowers, these are almost hidden by the fleshy pale-green sepals that clasp them. From the state of Hidalgo.

Some comparison pics incoming!
Pachyphytum compactum. First two photos from today. Trimmed them and put in into fresh mix. I think I prefer the darker lava stone on top..
The third picture is how they looked in 2019 before I got my LED lamp blasting them 13 hours a day. What a difference!
For even more comparison last pic is with one pot still untrimmed, you can see the section where the leaves are shorter and spaced apart!
Next we have Tulista pumila, formerly classified as Haworthia. Three years apart
It's so cool watching them grow

×Pachyveria cultivar
We received this cultivar without a name, but a ×Pachyveria is a hybrid between a Pachyphytum and an Echeveria (the × indicates its hybrid origin). It looks very much like an Echeveria, but its extra-thick leaves, and the large sepals enveloping the flowers, are traits inherited from its Pachyphytum parent. Pachyphytums are all native to Mexico, as are most species of Echeveria.
