Out of all the characters' dynamics I will literally always return to the Sannin because how could you not... the deadlock. The fallout of decades of love.

There's nowhere they can go from where they are. No way to fix it. Because it's been too long and there's been so much time to grow bitter. They've hurt each other in too many ways to be able to see eye to eye in ways that no one else could. Because they knew each other so well, knew everything about one another or thought they did. And in the end that knowledge is only used to twist the knife.

The love and hate and exhaustion in their relationship is just so palpable.

Oh, we're gonna be here all day!

I'm not gonna talk about all of these but feel free to ask about them.

I'm kind of weird with my ships in that I honestly don't enjoy wholesome content too much. I need some drama, I need some nonsense!

Kabuto's inadvertently become my go to plaything cause he's just,, all over the place. But I end up having to create my own content cause I have very specific situations I want him in. For example, I don't just want him and Tsunade to be messing around. I need it to be set during the Search for Tsunade specifically during the week Orochimaru let's her think everything over. They would kidnap Shizune and Kabuto would disguise himself as her so he could manipulate Tsunade. Tsunade's not stupid though so she tries to get Kabuto to slip up - situations ensue!

It's the same with everybody else I ship him with. Jiraiya would be during the Three Tails Appearance when they both so happen to stay at the same bathhouse. Kakashi requires an entire AU where Kabuto doesn't reveal his identity during Konoha Crush and stays undercover as an intern at the hospital. Deidara during the Fourth Shinobi World War specifically with Naga!Kabuto. Same with Obito. Sasori when he lobotomized Kabuto to become a sleeper agent. Guren, Anko, and Shizune would be simple hate sex at any point really.

Of course, the OTP is OroKabu but I personally don't imagine in many wholesome situations. There's always some kind of medical malpractice or manipulation going on. Although, they're normalcore in my Road to Ninja AU (but they're literal opposites of themselves). I also like to imagine them more chilled out in Boruto. Kabuto's in his 40's, he's tired.

OroTsu is special to me because they're so lesbians in STEM coded. They are the same flavor as Moira and Mercy, Shinobu and Tamayo, etc. Both are so wrapped up in their own research and goals, it's all they have to talk about. They understand each others passions whether they support them or not. They may be divorced but they keep having drunken make-up sex and fighting the next day.

OroJira is all about Orochimaru using his shapeshifting to its full potential. Or deluding himself via Kabuto. I don't care what anyone says, he's sentimental. OroJiraTsu was peak trauma-bonding during the Second Shinobi World War. Perfect opportunity for one bed trope.

I don't think I put it on the chart but OroSaso is just weird, weird sex. They had a messy breakup and now they're fighting over a boytoy. Horrible all around. Love them.

I’m a big fan of 2nd person narration and this particular work delivers it beautifully. I also adore the way they wrote Schlatt - the fear of death, the understanding and semi-acceptance of all the wrongs he’s done to everybody, and his response to it all being just Well fuck *proceeds to drink more* - he’s so very much in character.

That very specific, and honestly pretty fucking sad implication at the end hit me in a way I wasn’t expecting too, actually-

You get it all: functional pumpkin duo, dadschlatt with Tubbo and Fundy, Tommy getting away from Pogtopia!Wilbur, a happy, hopeful ending-

When I say that in the DSMP, Schlatt is the character that could have had it all and changed the course of the the story towards a much brighter future, this fic is what I mean.

That last chapter always gets me, i swear-

OR, Schlatt gets a visit from a certain time traveller the night before the election and that changes a few things in the lore’s future.

Basically, it's just more Manburg Cabinet working out, although slightly differently and taking longer. I love the broship that Pumpkin Duo has in this.

The lack of heavy angst in here is a real breath of fresh air for me, btw.

ALSO, kids are treated as kids! I repeat, kids are treated as kids!

Swagtopia AU by PrincessLunaLover

It was supposed to just be a secret rescue mission. Tubbo was going to get his father free from prison and let him run into the wilderness, voter fraud charges be damned. But then Fundy found out about the fake charges, and went to Quackity for legal advice.

It wasn't supposed to end with Wilbur publicly executing his own son.

Ahhhhhhh Swagtopia AU, my beloved :,)

The title speaks for itself no? An AU where Wilbur cheats to win the elections and it’s all dandy and good until Fundy finds out and decides that justice should prevail.

Schlatt and Wilbur basically switch roles and with them, lots of other things change. (I love this idea so much.)

Dad!Schlatt is a thing and the Pumpkin Duo dynamic reminds me a bit of an edgier Happy Duo - that married couple who can't stop bickering. They’re great.

Fundy gets a lot of spotlight, Quackity is really intelligent and gets to show it, Techno and Schlatt are old friends, and Sweater Duo angst is a thing, so really, what else could you want??

(Also, this fic is finished, I'm not sure why it’s marked as WIP, but it might have to do with the hints to a possible sequel that just never came to be.)

How I feel about this character: NO BUT HONEEEYYYY, LEMME TELL YOU - i only got hooked on naruto bc this snakeperson!!! fr!! when i first saw orochi, i knew they were going to be one of the very best characters - i love orochi!!!

All the people I ship romantically with this character: i'm a multiship trash so it's no wonder that i also ship a lot of characters with orochi - my main otp for orochi is jiraoro!! i've recently got into madaoro as well as orotsu too, however my one true love is sakumo x orochi, also?? koji x orochi too bc i'm a whore

My non-romantic OTP for this character: i really like the idea of amado and orochimaru as a crazy scientist brotp - it's been eating my brain for some time now lmao

My unpopular opinion about this character: they are not as evil and unfeeling as they like to think ( and present ) themself to be - hear me out, i get that everything orochi did is BAD and AWFULLY INHUMAN BUT- you can see the emotions bubbling under the surface, they cry when killing the sandaime, they are visibly sad that nawaki ( and later jiraiya ) died, and so and so. for that reason i loved the turn the character had in boruto, even tho oro was nerfed a lot.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: a filler where they and jiraiya talk - either during the time they were on the same team or while jiraiya tracked them. we got something like it once but it was so brief that left me wanting more ( we also get to see that orochi took a technique that jiraiya uses and adapted it to fit their own abilities, which makes me so happy bc in a way that's orochimaru's own way of acknowledging that jiraiya is talented )

my OTP: sakumo x orochi and jiraoro for sure, but also?? orojiratsu & jiramadaoro ftw

my cross over ship: ofc it's gonna be muzan/orochi bc reasons

a headcanon fact: orochi sometimes ( not often, of course ) visits jiraiya's grave. doesn't say a word, nor prays or anything like that - but they sure smile when a warm breeze passes them when they are leaving, a sense of familiarity to it - as if jiraiya is watching over them from wherever he is ( spoiler: he is, and he's so happy oro came back to konoha )

This is something I've put in my fics but I think the reason why the Sannin were never going to be able to stay together forever is because none of them were ever going to compromise on their beliefs. Orochimaru was always going to do what they had to to stay alive and Tsunade and Jiraiya were always going to put the village first.

Because there's this expectation, at the core of the village system itself, that they'll always place the village first. Above their teammates and friends, above their family, above their lives. And Orochimaru was never going to do that. Was never willing to.

Just spent like 30 minutes discussing the absolute funniest possibility for the Sannin's romantic relationship. I.e. they just never talked about it but Orochimaru has always known they're romantic and just assumed the others did too, Tsunade realized like 4 years after they stopped talking and went WAITTT..., and Jiraiya is just always under the impression that they were completely platonic (despite extraordinarily obvious evidence to the contrary)

Do you think there ever would've been a way for all the Sannin to see eye-to-eye on something, or are they always destined to stay stuck in an eternal deadlock?

OHO y'all are asking me the real questions.

Honestly... I think a key aspect of their dynamic is that for a really long time they just. Assumed. That they saw eye-to-eye. Each of them was walking around thinking they were all on the same page while they weren't.

I think they had this crazy-close connection, but they were always looking past one another while thinking they were looking at one another. For lack of a better word... I think all three of them have big egos. They don't always look past their nose.

I certainly think that they could've changed. That they could've begun to actually see one another. But it would've taken time that they didn't have, seeing how things went. Had things gone differently –– Ame, Dan, Nawaki, etc. –– they might have been able to grow.

I think these difficulties only made them grind in their heels, though. They only became more stuck in their ways the more they went through. And so... deadlock.
