The Invisible Guest has one of the best plot twist ever for a film but, I hate how the original title, Contratiempo, was changed because of the translation. It's direct translation is Setback hmmm, but they changed it. I really thought it's a horror film because of the word Invisible, without thinking it's about the law, a case, a murder, a psycho, revenge and a film that consists of overlapping lies and liars. It was not rated highly for me because we all knew what's the twist in the halfway of the film. However, it's good that this film, attract a lot of adaptations in other countries.

Mirage (2018)
The mysteries within Mirage are compelling enough to make it worth a watch, though a dozen questions raised during the conclusion threaten to cause its collapse. Other movies have used its premise before but not quite like this, which makes it unique.
In 1989, a 72-hour electrical storm opens a "passage" to the future. Through his television, young Nico (Julio Bohigas-Couto) receives a warning from 2014 and avoids a traffic accident that would've killed him. By communicating with the boy, Vera Roy (Adriana Ugarte) has altered the past and now, she no longer recognizes the present around her. Meanwhile, young Nico investigates the event that would’ve sent him running through traffic in the first place: the murder of a neighbor by her husband (Javier Gutiérrez Álvarez).
There are two plots to follow and they’re connected by a mystery. In the previous version of the past, Nico confronted Angel Prieto with the bloody knife, ran into traffic and was struck by a car. Angel then confessed to his crime and was arrested. Now, the twelve-year-old is trying to gather evidence to put him away - a challenge considering his age. In the present, Vera is a little slow on the intake. She’s looking for her daughter, her husband and/or a way to contact 1989 and undo whatever Nico did to change her world - it could've been anything between that night and today. Got that? Now let’s dig in properly.
With Nico and Vera (presumably) only being loosely tied together, you’re not sure what will happen to Nico in the past. For all you know, something might happen to Nico and then the present might revert to the way it was before. Alternately, something Vera discovers in the new present might help the boy in the past, which might then bring back her husband and daughter. It’s fun to wonder about what's coming next while piecing together the mysteries.
When it comes to the dramatic aspect of the story, Adriana Ugarte is entirely responsible for its success. As an outsider looking in, you quickly wrap your mind around the time tunnel stuff and it can get a little tiresome watching her bewilder everyone she meets with her stories of a daughter that “doesn’t exist” and a boy from 1989 she met through a TV. Thankfully, she makes her character's desperation palpable and you become invested in her quest with relative ease.
The other versions of this story I’ve seen before both included a serial killer, which elevated the stakes in a way this film never quite manages to. The film is also quite long at 128 minutes, which allows scenes that should’ve been cut to remain. At one point, for example, Vera discovers a book an author wrote called Mirage, all about a boy in 1989 who said he communicated with someone from the future. She presents this as proof to the Inspector helping her (Chino Darín) that she isn’t crazy but if anything it makes her seem much loonier than before.
During the final act, writer/director Oriol Paulo (who co-writes with Lara Sendim) makes several major mistakes with a big revelation about Inspector Leyra. To anyone watching, it was obvious that he had a much bigger part to play in this story than seemed at first and it’s true: he is the grown-up version of Nico. Not only that, the reason Vera’s daughter is gone is because she and Nico met and fell in love in this alternate present, preventing her from meeting and starting a family with her previous husband. This raises a whole lot of uncomfortable questions. Nico spent 25 years waiting for her, knowing she would one day ride a specific train at a specific station. He might not have gas-lit her into falling in love with him, but this whole time she’s running around and he never fills her in on what the new reality is like. More problematic is the ultimatum she gives him once she finds out the truth. She commits suicide so that he has to contact his younger self and alter the present once more so he can save her - big yikes there. Even before that, the man is a police officer, investigating his own wife as she’s accusing Mr. Prieto of murder - the man he accused of murder as a child. I’d love to see what kind of insane courtroom drama would follow this story.
Despite one blunder after another during the conclusion, Mirage is compelling to watch, the performances are strong and the premise intriguing. As something you’d watch at home for the price of a subscription, I can recommend it. (Original Spanish version with English subtitles, November 12, 2021)

Sobre cineastas españoles contemporáneos
Oriol Paulo (Barcelona, 1975), escribió el guion de la película "El cuerpo" (2012). Además dirigió esta película. La película está interpretada por Hugo Silva, un muy mal actor, y por Belén Rueda, una muy mala actriz... La película es malísima. Todo el guion está lleno de trampas y esto cabrea y acaba dándote asco todo lo que tiene que ver con el ser humano. Más de ocho millones de dólares recaudados. Y después Oriol ha conseguido hacer más películas. Y también una serie. "El inocente", basada en una obra de Harlan Coben. Esta serie se ve bien. ¡Ojalá que este siempre fuese el nivel de las series! Él es el director de esta serie y ha trabajado con otras personas en el guion (Jordi Vallejo y Guillen Clua). Hay que decir que trabajar en una novela para escribir un guion es más fácil que trabajar en un guion de la pura nada.

Sinuoso
Este thriller espanhol tem uma inegável inspiração no universo complexo de David Lynch, onde nada é o que parece ser e tudo pode ser o que o espectador quiser que seja.
Bem produzido e interpretado, com um ambiente claustrofóbico de um asilo de loucos, todo o filme gira em torno de uma paciente manipuladora que não é o que parece, nem tampouco o que ela afirma ser. Um complexo labirinto de tramas com um final aberto às mais fantasiosas interpretações.
Com duas horas e meia de duração, poderia bem ser uma mini série, em que os autores manipulam os espectadores com quase tanta maestria quanto a sua protagonista os psiquiatras.

This Spanish thriller is undeniably inspired by David Lynch's complex universe, where nothing is what it seems and everything can be whatever the viewer wants it to be.
Well produced and performed, with the claustrophobic atmosphere of an insane asylum, the entire film revolves around a manipulative patient who is not what she seems, nor what she claims to be. A complex labyrinth of plots with an ending open to the most fanciful interpretations.
With two and a half hours long, it could well be a mini series, in which the authors manipulate the spectators with almost as much mastery as their protagonist, the psychiatrists.
