The thing about Toshiro-Laois is that people are projecting too hard to see that it's understandable to become frustrated—especially with Toshiro as an immigrant in a culture with wildly different communication rules—with a man who isn't meeting you halfway to understand you. And like, it is unfair to just implicitly expect that of someone. But that doesn't make someone malicious; it just means they have to be more cognizant that language is inseparable from a social aspect—a power aspect—and that everyone has their own semantics, which you must plug in.

Here is when it becomes malicious: There are normative modes of communication that everyone is expected to emulate. Deviation is punished, and that hegemony never moves to accommodate new semantics unless it controls it. Whose semantics are seen as 'normal'? Who is expected to [implicitly, quietly] assimilate themselves to that norm, doing the heavy work of communication lest they be unheard or ignored? Power and language are contextual; both Toshiro and Laois have the right to be angry, but both need to put in the work to find effective ways of communicating that eschew this power play. Now apply this to everyone ever.

Holiday retail shifts this year are turning me into an unironic hallmark villain. If they play any iteration of 'my favorite things' again I'm committing arson. I'm reaching the end of my rope. I look at the calendar and there's still two more weeks to go

ricky just stomped over anyone saying he was out to steal the girl. he got his chance to have gina, not even steal her bc she point blank told him she just broke up with ej, and he did not go for it. he loves her so much and understands her so well and he knows its not the time to be piling something like that on her.

On like a mechanical level Fionna and cake ending was good and made sense but on an emotional level they just kinda stumbled into it? Feel like Fionna wanting her world back was more about her learning that magic is dangerous and scary than actually realising there were things about her world she liked, cake just kinda…. Stayed magical so that conflict didn’t even need resolving, and they totally backtracked on Simon wanting to use the crown for the sake of using the crown and only talked about him valuing others lives over his own. So. Gumlee was awesome tho. 6/10 I guess

Ngl, the fact that people are trying to erase Dr Bright from the wiki doesn't even look like they're doing it to fix things. It feels performative and like they're trying to sweep Admin Bright's existence under the rug instead of acknowledging what happened or trying to fix things.

Especially considering most actual harmful things about Bright family most likely won't be changed at all.
