Aki here again 💗
Happy that you’re accepting requests again!
Can I ask for a feel good scenario where Ran and Rindou are drinking at Rin’s apartment after an exhausting day. Just brothers casually talking about life. Rin got a girlfriend and Ran is single so let them talk as well about a girl Ran loved so much but doesn’t want her to be involved in his job. He just wants to watch her from the background. I just want to know how you will write the haitani brothers conversation I think you will make this as something that will make is smile 💗
Then a few days after that conversation, Ran accidentally ran from the girl 🥺
Anyway, dont push yourself too much since you’re not feeling well. I hope you will feel better soon Albie!
💗💗~
A/N: Hi Aki!! I’m so happy you submitted a request ૮₍˃̵֊ ˂̵ ₎ა. And thank you so much for thinking about my wellbeing. You are such a sweetheart ˚ ༘ ♡ ⋆.˚! My health is a lot better now! I hope you are taking care of yourself too ( ๑ ˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و ♡.

“Kampai.” The brothers quietly clink their hard blown whiskey glasses then savoring the smooth texture and vanilla taste. After a long exhausting day, Ran and Rin needed a quiet relaxing night in. Rin offers up his apartment since he had a bottle of whiskey he wanted Ran to try and he has the apartment to himself. Usually the brothers would go out to Bonten’s owned clubs, bars, or lounges with the other executives but tonight, they want to have family time just like old times.
“This is really good.” Ran compliments the whiskey Rin provides. He nods, “You know, it’s been awhile since we drank just the two of us.” One of Rin’s eyebrows quirks up, not understanding what Ran is talking about.
“We go out drinking at the bars just the two of us before.” Ran shakes his head, leaving Rin in confusion.
“No, I meant like this. Drinking at home together.” Probably the last time they drank at home together was when they were in the Kanto Manji Gang before they evolved into Bonten. Back then when they lived together, after a long day they would drink like this and talk about the future.
“Right.” Ran and Rin drink in comfortable silence, thinking back to their childhood when it was them against the world. “So much has changed.” They have gone through a detention center, juvie, encountering their respectable leader Izana… joining South and after his defeat they followed Mikey.
“It has.” Ran twirling the liquor in his hand, “You have grown up well, Rin.”
“HA?” Rin literally choked and spit out his whiskey, “I grew up to be a notorious and one of the most wanted criminals. Where in the hell do you think that’s me growing up well?”
“That may be, but you’ve matured and not as hot headed anymore. You used to get so angry and eager to pick fights.” Ran chuckles, “You were like an angry little puppy ready to bite anyone and anything.” Rin flusters, his cheeks red from embarrassment. His older brother compared him to a non intimidating animal, he shot his pride of his hard work.
“An angry little puppy?!”
“Yeah,” Ran is smiling while continuing to tease his little brother, “you were like those little doggies. What were they called again?” Playfully tapping on his chin, “Oh yes, a chihuahua.” Rin is close to exploding and beating his brother up, “But now, you’re more like a wolf.” Rin’s anger slowly simmers down.
“A wolf?” Ran nods, Rin’s anger dissipates.
“Yes, you’ve become strong, protective, intelligent…” Ran’s lilac eyes stare into Rin’s curious eyes, “I should thank your girlfriend for that.” Ran’s proud smile fills Rin full of pride, drinking to it, he couldn’t have done it without her. “Proposing to her any time soon?” Rin again nearly spits out his whiskey. “You two have been living together for 2 years. Don’t tell me you haven’t thought about it.” Ran finds it adorable how red Rin looks right now.
“I… may have thought about it.” The end of his sentence gets quiet, in truth Rin has been thinking about proposing to his girlfriend for a long time.
“Awww,” Ran is elated to hear that, “soon there will be little Haitanis running around.” Rin’s face is even more red, of course he wants to have children but talking about it makes him shy. “I hope you have a girl so I can spoil the little princess.” Ran grins happily, he knows Rin and his future sister in law will have the cutest babies.
“Not like I can control the sex of the baby…” Rin drinks his whiskey to wash away his shyness, “What about you, aniki?” Ran tilts his head to the side, uncertain what his little brother is asking. “Are you still not over her?” Ran’s lips drop, he knows who exactly Rin is talking about and it is you. You are still the only one he will ever love. No one can compare to you.
“I will never be over her. [Y/n] will always be the one I love.” A sad smile on his lips, he gulps the last of his whiskey before pouring more liquor into his glass.
“Then why don’t you get back with her if you’re still in love with her? There’s no point loving someone and not being with them.” Ran lets out a bitter laugh before taking another drink of the whiskey.
“It’s not as easy as it sounds, brother.” Rin scoffs and rolls his lilac eyes.
“Really? How so?”
“Her father is part of the House of the National Diet.” Rin is speechless. He knew you were wealthy but didn’t know about your family, “And he was one of the representatives who is against gambling, weapons, and prostitution.”
“Oh shit.” Knowing this newfound information, it would be complicated for you two to be together.
Ran stares out the glass windows, thinking back to his time in high school when he first met you. No, it wasn’t through school. It was by chance… a lucky chance he got to meet you. You went to a prestigious high school, known for high society families. He remembers your school uniform, your high pigtails, your designer backpack and your fearsome attitude.
[Flashback]
Ran was having a bad day and skipped school to do whatever he wanted to do. It’s not like anyone could stop him, he and Rin owned Roppangi after all. Stopping him would be the worst decision a person could ever make.
“Ah!” Some girl spilled her drink on Ran’s clothes, a vein popped up on his cheek. “I-I’m so sorry!” He noticed her uniform, she’s from a prestigious high school and an angry smile appeared on his face.
“Sorry, isn’t going to clean this up girl.” Ran used his height to intimidate this girl, who was cowering before him. Until you appear, stepping up in front of her, to shield her from him.
“Here’s some napkins.” You were clearly not deterred by him and shoved napkins into his chest. “If the stain doesn’t come out, then go to XX Dry Cleaners and put it under [L/N].” Your last name sounded familiar to him, but he couldn’t place from where.
“You think I would go all the way there to drop this off?”
“For someone that is crying about a spilled drink on their shirt,” You let out a small smirk, “yeah.” Ran was a little startled about your attitude, he thought all you privileged girls would be the same.
“Look… Pigtails.” He noticed your giant high pigtails, “I don’t have time to go there myself.”
“Really? It doesn’t seem like you have any place to be at, Braids.” You mocked his dumb nickname he gave you, challenging him, “If you did, you wouldn’t be standing here and taunting us.” Ran laughed, you completely got him. He really didn’t have any place to go, he just didn’t feel like going to the other side of town to drop this off.
“Miss [L/n].” A man appeared next to them, a sleek black car rolling up beside him. “Are you and your friends ready to go back?”
“Yes, you’re right on time.” You smiled cutely, the man opened the door for you and your friends to get in. You rolled down the window to look at Ran one last time, “Braids, if you really care about your shirt then go to that dry cleaners.” Looked back at the man and told him to drive, leaving Ran behind.
Ran scoffed, you had the balls to stand up to him.
It had been two weeks since he last saw you, until… he felt someone tug on his shirt. Ran looked down to find… you. “Pigtails?” He was surprised to find you at the same spot where he first met you. You seemed to be relieved to find him.
“You never went.” There was a look of confusion on his face, “You never went to the dry cleaners I recommended. Why?”
“Why bother going all the way there?” Ran playfully shrugged, there was a look of disappointment on your cute face. “Were you waiting for me or something?”
“Obviously,” You boldly responded, “I went there to see if you dropped it off almost every day and you never showed up. You know how much of a waste of my time that was?” Ran cocked one of his eyebrows.
“Why did you go there instead of just calling the place?” You got quiet. Ran snickered, towering over you. “Did you want to see me that badly, Pigtails?”
“As if, I just… want to make sure you got it cleaned is all.” You looked away, not wanting to make eye contact with him.
“Care that much about me, huh?” Ran teased you some more, “Well since I worried you so much, why don’t I take you out for desserts?” You faced him again, your cheeks heated, making you even more adorable.
After one date, it turned into another and another. From dessert dates to picnic dates to movie dates to amusement park dates. Ran even helped you sneak out of your bedroom window to go out on late night drives on his motorcycle to go stargazing. Ran fell in love, hoping this would last forever… but young love never lasts.
As Ran became more and more involved with violent gang activities, your father was selected to be part of the House of National Diet. Your face was plastered in family photos in newspapers, magazines, and television. This became Ran’s greatest fear if other gangs knew of your relationship with him, you would easily be targeted. He could never let anything happen to you.
Ran never wanted to be the one to break your heart, but it had to be done. He broke things off with you, said you two are from different worlds it would never work out. The tears in your eyes shattered his heart. He wished he could pull you into his arms to comfort you but he held back. It would hurt much worse.
[End Flashback]
“Was that the last time you saw her?” Rin asks after hearing Ran’s sad love story, Ran still looking outside the window with a sorrowful expression.
“No, I have been watching her from afar.” After all these years, he discreetly observed you from a distance. He saw your high school graduation, your college entrance ceremony, your many academic award ceremonies, your college graduation, your first job out of college, your first promotion… he never missed a single important event in your life.
“Did she move on?” Ran witnessed you going out on dates, of course Ran wasn’t happy about it. He saw you the other day with another man, he was so close to wanting to take him out but he held back.
“She deserves to be happy.” Rin frowns when he sees his big brother's grim smile, reaching out to grab his shoulder. Ran faces him with a look of surprise.
“You deserve to be happy too, aniki.” Ran’s downturned eyes widens, “I don’t want you to live in regret and forget about your own happiness.” Soon, Ran’s grim smile dissolves into a warm soft smile and he pulls Rin into a hug.
“I won’t live in regret and forget about my happiness when I have you.” Ran truly meant it, as long Rin is by his side life wouldn’t be so bad. “Your happiness will always brighten my life. So, cherish your woman and have lots of babies.” Rin’s face deadpans and shoves Ran away from him.
“What am I, a baby making factory? Go make your own babies.”
“Why are you being so shy? You know you would make cute babies! It’s in our blood.”
“Stop saying weird things!” Ran laughs loudly, the rest of the night they talk about customizing a ring for Rin’s future wife and brainstorming on how to propose to her. Ran hopes after Rin gets married, they will continue to have these types of nights together.
The next few days, Ran happens to be close to the dessert place where he took you out on the first date. Feeling nostalgic, he decides to go in to grab a mont blanc. Ran accidentally knocks the door into someone, “Sorry about that.”
“Sorry isn’t enough to clean this up.” Huh? The voice sounds so familiar, his lilac eyes widen when he meets yours. Your hair is down and styled, your dress is fashionable with a light stain from your drink, you have upgraded to a designer purse, the only thing remaining the same is your fearsome attitude. He is surprised to be right in front of you, he was so used to seeing you from afar. Why are you here of all places? Were you thinking of him too? His heart starts racing at a blistering pace. “Well?” You tilt your head to the side, coyly.
Ran lets out a soft smile, thinking about his own happiness like Rin wanted for him, “I know a dry cleaner who can get that stain out.”

More angsty facts about Aya (As requested by the lovely @kolokolna)
💙 (Last words?)
Probably something along the lines of "... I'm... Sorry."
I can guarantee it's one of two things
She either killed herself
OR
She died protecting someone.
Either way it'll be a tearjerker
💧 (Worst pain?)
This is a tough one.
Probably seeing Aki's ribs get broken, the look of shock and pain on his face... And that's before the sound it made...
(Imma need to write that up some day :D)
🔷 (Ever abandoned something precious?)
Short answer? Yes.
What? Aki, accidentally.
When? Back when they were kids.
Why? She... She didn't notice that his footsteps had stopped behind her.
Has she forgiven herself? Not a chance in HELL.
🔵 (Traumatic events?)
*looks at backstory*
*looks at Aya*
Maybe a few...
Particularly memorable was the time that she was shoved down the stairs by a few people she thought were her friends and broke her arm
Or the time she was cornered in an alley and beat half to death with stinking fish
Or the time she was shoved in a box that was taped shut and dumped in a river (Same people as the fish incident)
Or the time her girlfriend left her because she was already too broken
Or the time... You get it.
Of course she tries to suppress the memories, they're TRAUMATIC
Does she succeed? God no. Sometimes, temporarily.
It helps for her to have hugs and cuddles
And warm drinks
Or just alcohol
Alcohol works too
❄ (Biggest regret?)
Oh
Oh lord does she have regrets
Her biggest one?
Not killing her parents in their sleep.
Every time she hears a wheeze in Aki's breath, or sees him wince when he rolls onto his side...
Or, hell, when she sees him with short sleeves.
It hurts
It hurts her to see how she's failed to protect him.
💦 (Self-destructive?)
Aya?
Self destructive?
Naaaaaah
Just when she's awake
Or asleep
Or breathing
She's not willing to actually take her own life and put that on Aki
But she'll definitely just give in when she has zero appetite
Refuses to accept help even when she really, really needs it because even if it hurts her to push that hard it's fine because she doesn't really matter
She doesn't see that she matters to other people. She's always willing to sacrifice herself for others' stupid causes.
And she'll stop taking her meds so she can drink
Tried cigarettes once, absolutely hated it and will never ever try again.
🌊 (At her worst?)
When she's feeling depressive, she usually shuts herself off.
Which is awful, because what usually helps her is talking to someone
But she can't just talk to someone
The thought sends her into anxiety, which only makes things worse.
She'll usually curl up in a ball in her room and cry for hours until she can't cry any more, then she'll wait for a while to make it less obvious that she was just crying all day
Some things that seem random will set her off, and send her into a depressive spell, or sorta make her shut down for a while...
Either way p l e a s e hug her
She'll fight against it at first, but it'll genuinely help her and she will 100% cry and hug you back rambling thanks into your ear mixed in with apologies for getting your shirt all wet.
She doesn't deal with emotions well AT ALL
☄️ (How does she handle her trauma?)
Not well.
Her trauma is something she learns from. Her emotions are things that help her with decisions...
And they're also the cause of her many, many sleepless nights, bouts of unintentional self-starvation, and more fun things to do when slowly killing yourself from the inside.
She'll never really open up to someone she doesn't trust, but once you get past her shell she's just a big softie... And a mess of trauma and insecurieties.
She will 100% always do her best to hide her pain, but her walls get weak around people she trusts, because she doesn't like lying to or hiding things from them.
📘 (Sad writings?)
I should've been stronger... If I'd have fought a little harder, or I'd been a little faster... He wouldn't have gotten hurt. I failed him. He needs me, and I failed him... I don't even deserve to live. It's pointless to keep on breathing and repeating the same cycles over and over again just to get hurt... I don't want to see him get hurt again. I can't see him get hurt again. God, I can still hear that sickening crack... -Aya
🔹 (Scars?)
Aya, with scars?
Naaaaawwwwwww
Unless you count the ones absolutely COVERING her torso and arms.
Some of them might have been self inflicted.
She's got this... Lump, on her ribcage. Back from when it broke and didn't heal properly.
Don't touch it.
She tries to not be effected by her trauma too much.
She...
Fails, mostly.
Always gets up too early, goes to take a shower and finds herself just... Unable to turn on the water some days. She just can't do it.
Has trouble with anyone touching her, especially guys.
Oh god the barking of a large dog messes her up
Even worse if she sees it
Expect her to lash out if it runs at her
She has a few large, jagged scars on her stomach/chest area from the times (yes, plural) she was stabbed with a bottle.
Her left arm still aches when she uses it too much from when it broke
She's sort of just always in a little pain? You listen close and you will hear a slight wheeze in every breath.

This is for @yugirl-with-dragons, happy birthday! I’m sorry, I’m not sure whether I’m late or not, but I hope I’m not! Anyway, I hope you’re having a great birthday, and I hope you like it! ^.^
--------------------------------------
"Okay, so, hold the sword-" he sighed exasperatedly as she held the weapon with two hands instead of one, like he had told her. "No- no no, not with two hands just one, I've already told you that!" Her head snapped up at him in frustration.
"I can hardly carry this thing with two hands, let alone one! This sword is too damn heavy for me to carry!" He grumbled in annoyance and stalked towards her in frustration. He tore the bladed weapon out of her hands to demonstrate how "easy" it was.
"How is this too heavy? This is one of the lightest swords we have on this ship!" He turned and glared at her as he swung the weapon around with ease.
"Well, excuse you, you've had years of experience with this! My father would never have let me even take a glance at a weapon without scolding me! This is the first time I've seen a weapon in person!" She waved her hands around wildly in exasperation.
"Then why are you here?! You said you wanted to have your own freedom, and yet you complain about not being able to pick up a sword! Things are different here in the real world than the little cooped up world you've lived in your whole li-!" She cried out in anger.
"I'm not trying to complain about the damned sword! It's the way you're teaching me! Your treating me like I should be a skilled swordsman when you know where I come from. Yes, I want to be free, but give me time to adjust! Give me time to get the hang of things before you start pushing me too much!" The deck was filled with silence other than Aki's constant heaving for breath. She growled in frustration. "You know what! Forget this, I'm done for the day!" She stormed off down into the entrance of the hall which led to the personal chambers. Bruno, who had been busying himself with maintaining the ship looked up at him sheepishly.
"I was planning addressing that issue with you myself, but at a later time. Though, she basically summarized most of what I had wanted to say," he explained, slowly hunching up his shoulders out of fear the blue eyed captain would yell at him. Bruno could hardly see Yusei's blue eyes from underneath the dark shadow that his long black fringe cast upon his eyes as he tilted his head down. Yusei clenched his fist and whipped around to face Bruno.
"She wants her own freedom she says, she asks if I can train her and she complains! She's seriously pissing me off right now!" Bruno winced at how furious Yusei sounded as he began pacing back and forth frustratedly. "It's like she's purposely doing this!" He raised his foot and stomped it against the ground furiously. "What am I doing wrong? I'm treating her like I would a new soldier recruit! And she still doesn't get it, how does she not understand how to hold a sword?!" He whipped around and turned to face Bruno, who winced at how angry Yusei looked.
"W-Well, that's the thing," he mumbled sheepishly, twiddling his fingers together. "She's not a recruit soldier, she is- was, the daughter of a nobleman. She was raised to be a," he raised his hand and made quotation signs with his fingers. "Perfect child. She's not used to combat at all, and I get that it's essential that she learns how to fight, however, I agree with her that you are pushing her too hard. It's like handing an infant a gun and expecting it to get perfect and clear shots. Give her a few days to adjust to this new life, and maybe she'll become a better combatant than most of us here, who knows. For now though, we should give her some time to calm down and wait until she's ready again." Yusei sighed and nodded in understanding.
"I think Bruno's right on this one Yus! She's not used to this at all, she'll get used to it eventually!" The two looked up to see Crow sliding down on one of the ropes connected to the mast of the ship and landed gracefully next to the two men. "She's in her what, late teens? Just give her time, she's got the motivation to live life the way she wants to, but you gotta give her time, it's only been what. Two days since she got here?" Bruno nodded in agreement. Crow looked up at Yusei and Bruno. "Tell you what, why don't Bruno and I help you next time you have a training session with her?" Yusei sighed reluctantly and nodded in understanding.
"I think Bruno's right on this one Yus! She's not used to this at all, she'll get used to it eventually!" The two looked up to see Crow sliding down on one of the ropes connected to the mast of the ship and landed gracefully next to the two men. "She's in her what, late teens? Crow looked up at Yusei and Bruno. "Tell you what, why don't Bruno and I help you next time you have a training session with her?" Yusei sighed reluctantly and nodded in understanding.
"I guess you have a point, I'd appreciate it the extra help, I honestly don't know how to deal with her." Crow and Bruno looked at each other and smiled.
"Alright, now that that's settled, I'm gonna go take a nap before I make dinner," Crow spoke up. Bruno looked at him and smiled.
"I've got to finish doing maintenance on the ship." With that, the three parted ways. The day continued to drag on, though, Yusei couldn't help but be slightly worried when Aki didn't show up in the dining hall for dinner, but he knew better than to make contact with her, he assumed she was still furious from the day's earlier events, so he left her be. Eventually, the sun began to set, and the sky was covered with the of so familiar dark blanket of stars. Seeing as the day dragged along and was uneventful, Yusei wasn't too surprised when he found he wasn't tired. He sat up to face the wall after what he guessed was about an hour or two of tossing and turning on his mattress. He sighed and rubbed his eyes as he stood and decided to go out and stare at the stars. The wooden floorboards released soft groans as he walked out of his chambers and onto the deck. He was surprised to find a certain red haired woman standing out towards the corner looking out in the distance, he turned his eyes to the left and found a sword. Yusei turned his eyes back towards her once more as the sound of her grumbling caught his attention. He walked over to the sword and as he picked it up, he noticed a small amount of blood on it. His eyes raised in curiosity as he walked over to her.
"Hey," he greeted. She cried out in surprise and he could see her visibly wince and jump, and almost off of the railing. He quickly dropped the weapon and reached his arms out to catch her before she fell overboard. His arms rested around her waist, steadying her as her hands gripped the railings to the point that her knuckles were white and she heaved in and out, probably still frantic. He pulled her away from the rail gently as he backed up and gave her space to breath. Her face was flushed red as she quickly brushed her clothes off and fixed her appearance. She looked up at him with an annoyed look on her features, almost a pout. Her face reminded him of a small child pouting for not getting something they wanted.
"What do you want?" She crossed her arms over her chest and leaned her weight against her left foot. She leaned back so she could lean against the railing. He sighed and held up the sword and motioned to it. Then, as he looked at her, he noticed the small piece of cloth torn off and wrapped around her hand.
"What were you doing?" He raised an eyebrow and motioned to the bandaged hand with his eyes. Her eyes widened before she uncrossed her arms and put them behind her back.
"N-Nothing, why?" He sighed and walked up to her before reaching behind her and forcefully grabbing her arm. He pulled it forward and accidentally pulled her forward as well, sending her tumbling into his arms. She quickly pulled away from him, but he would not let go of her arm. "What are you-?!"
"How did you cut your hand? Did you do it intentionally?" She winced and glared at him coldly.
"Are you kidding me?! Do you really think I'd do something so foolish?!" She finally found the strength to tear her arm out of his grip. "I was practicing trying to hold up the damned sword, but I dropped it and without thinking I grasped the blade with my hand, and it cut my palm open!” He paused in slight surprise. She had been practicing? That wasn’t really what he expected her to be doing, he thought that she’d be asleep or something else. He eyebrow quirked in suspicion.
“Why in the middle of the night?” She looked away from him.
“Because I thought you’d be sleeping and not nagging me. Guess I was wrong about that.” She frowned slightly before looking up at the moon. “Plus it isn’t as hot as in the daytime.” He hummed in understanding.
“It is indeed incredibly hot out here.” He sat down and hesitantly patted the spot next to him. She huffed and turned to face the other way, but accepted the invitation and took a seat next to him. She crossed her legs and leaned her elbows against her knees as she stared up at the stars.
“I was never able to really see the star or night sky like this back at that place.” Her head turned down to look at her hands.
“Why don’t you just call it home?” He stared at her and frowned slightly as her eyes drooped sadly.
“Because it never felt like a home. A home is supposed to feel warm and comfortable to you, but that place just felt cold and lonely, empty even.”
“But your father was a senator, you probably were surrounded with lots of people how could you be lonely?” He honestly didn’t understand her mindset, but if they’re going to be staying on the same boat, might as well try.
“Yeah, people who only cared about me for publicity and my father. I’d rather have been alone than be used for something like that.”
“Oh.” There was a silence for a few seconds that stretched on as the waves continued to splash and the clouds continued to move and the stars continued to twinkle.
“I don’t want to be known as just, ‘The Senator’s Daughter,’ I want to be known by my own name, and being tied down in marriage certainly won’t let me do that.” Yusei paused as his mind flashed back to the man that she was supposed to be married to. His fern green eyes glimmered with a sick sadistic need of something as he looked at Aki, but he’d rather not find out what that need was and what it had to do with her. Something about him had just set Yusei off and made him upset. That stupid cowlick hair of his for some reason deeply pissed him off. The dude seemed like a complete manipulative asshat straight off the bat as soon as Yusei made eye contact with him. “Then, I stumbled across you at that bar. I guess I found that we, in some ways, were similar at the time. Both trapped in a curse, we’re both trying to get out of it, and a few other things. I guess, no, I knew then that I had made my decision. I had wanted to be free, so, when I saw your ship, I snuck on it. I honestly don’t know why I chose to sneak in with you guys, but I can’t say that I regret my decision. I’m glad I chose to do this, I really am.” She looked up at him. “And I promised myself that I’d work hard to try and meet you guys’ expectations so that I wouldn’t be left behind. So, that I could come on par with you guys. I refuse to play the part of the rich girl who’s damsel in distress and can’t carry her own weight.” A fiery look of determination flashed in her eyes. Yusei suddenly understood why she was upset, he was holding her image to someone she refused to be. Perfect. She refuses to be perfect, she’s been living in a society that’s been harsh if she doesn’t act in a certain manner or play her part. “But I can’t do that in a span of two days you know. I wish that was possible but it’s not, but I’ll try harder.” The look she gave as she said that made his instincts scream at him to do something, just anything to let her know that she’s not alone at the moment, but he held himself back. Would she be upset? He doesn’t know, he still doesn’t know her as an individual person. The only thing he knows is that she’s determined to have the freedom she desires, and that she’s the daughter of a nobleman, but nothing else. He reached his hand out towards her, but hesitated. His mind kept screaming at him to do something even as he withdrew his hand, he didn’t know why he pulled his hand back. He just did. He could tell she had been waiting for something, but a look formed in her eyes, but he couldn’t describe what it was. Maybe it was sadness? A miserable sort of acceptance maybe? He didn’t know what it was, but he regretted not doing anything the minute that look flashed in her beautiful eyes. Overcome by the new sensation of guilt for not doing anything and many other things, he stood up and briskly headed back to his quarters, murmuring nothing more than a simple good night under his breath. As soon as he reached his quarters, he realized that was the last thing he should’ve done. He sat on the bed frame of his mattress and placed his hand over his eyes in frustration. God he fucked up, he kept cursing himself, he should’ve tried to talk to her more, not just run away! He wound up falling asleep, but not without the guilt traced on his face. The next morning, he woke up startled by the sound of gunshots. He quickly bolted out of his room and grabbed his hat and coat as he ran out onto the deck, but was greeted with a surprise.
“Crow, Bruno! What the hell is-?!” Crow and Bruno had a look of shock on their faces at how well Aki’s aiming was. She held a gun with a target board a couple of meters away. Three bullet holes all extremely close to the center of the target.
“Holy shit,” Crow murmured, aghast with what happened. “Yo! Izayoi! Why didn’t you tell us you could use a gun?! If you told us earlier we would’ve just let you be!” Crow waved his hands exasperatedly.
“That’s the thing,” She turned around to face the two men. “This is my first time using a gun, but I have a good aim.” She shrugged sheepishly, seeming a little surprised herself with how well she did with a gun. The twins came sprinting out onto the deck as well.
“What happened,” they shouted in unison. “What was with those gunshots?!” They paused as they registered the sight before them until one jumped up in excitement. “That looks so cool! You using a gun and all being badass!” The other twin smacked the first in the back.
“Language Rua!”
“Sorry, Ruka.” Aki smiled and laughed softly while rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly.
“It seems that what you needed wasn’t more pushing, just an adjustment,” Bruno pointed out. He specifically turned and looked at Yusei. “Maybe as time goes on and with more practice your aiming will get better.”
“Yeah, I’ll help out,” Crow piped up excitedly. Her eyes widened at the statement in shock, but softened. Yusei felt his chest tighten as he lost his breath for a short moment. Her amber, almost golden under the sunlight, eyes glimmered with appreciation and hope. He could tell her exact thoughts just from her eyes, he looked at her and tried to make it as clear as he could without saying anything. She turned and looked at him. ‘You’re not alone anymore.’ Her eyes widened in understanding at the new revelation, and she smiled.
“Thanks you guys,” she murmured. Her voice was a bit shaky and her head was downcast. The twins quickly noticed, and Ruka stepped up to her.
“W-What’s wrong? Did we say something bad?” Aki began laughing softly as she lifted her head, wiping tears from her eyes before they shed.
“No,” she sniffed and rubbed her arm across her eyes, a certain spot of the fabric of her sleeved shirt appearing darker. “I just really appreciate the help.” It was a while later after the events of the morning that Yusei realized, there was so much more meaning to that sentence than she let on. She’s glad, she doesn’t feel as alone as before. She’s at some form of peace.
“Maybe I’ll find mine as well, just at a later time.” He pulled back the sleeve of his shirt and stared at the mark. His own special little curse. He frowned slightly at the thought of it and all th pain it brought him. “Maybe someday I’ll be rid of this curse.”
