actually it's kind of funny how people will say Alex's fatal flaw is that he 'doesn't ask for help' and that it's his determination to handle things on his own that leads to his deterioration and eventual death when his whole introduction to the present-day timeline was a very literal cry for help that simply went ignored

what if Alastor rejected Vox because of the contract holding him. what if he actually did want to be with Vox, business partners or otherwise, but was afraid of him being a weakness and getting hurt. what if Alastor had to choose between rejecting and humiliating Vox, or getting him killed. and after their fight Alastor left for seven years in part because it hurt him for having to make that choice. but at least Vox wouldn't be hurt again, and after losing to Alastor he'd move on.

only for Alastor to come back, find Vox is still obsessed with him, and have to keep finding ways to hurt him so they're distanced from each other.

better to hurt someone you care about than kill them, or die trying to protect them before you can make things right.

Was thinking about what we might deduce about season 2 based on the trailer for season 1.

Season 1's trailer is very heavy on clips from episodes 1-3. There's a lot less from eps 4-8, and almost nothing from 9 or 10 (save the shots of Ed putting on his Blackbeard armour, and Stede falling out of bed, both of which are entirely divorced from context.) It also doesn't even hint at romance - the only clue is the song choice, "Crazy on You."

Of course, with Season 2's trailer, they're not obscuring the romance anymore, so we can't use this as a 1-to-1 blueprint. But I think it's a pretty safe bet that they're showing us a lot of content from the first half of the season - they're not gonna give everything away that easily, obvs.

And both with the trailers and the show itself, the songs are so carefully selected and play a huge role in tone. So the choice of "Because the Night" is important information. It means pathos, it means romance and lust front and center, and I think, just as the song flips between minor and major keys, it means both tragedy and joy.

also as a guy who has been known as the Fallout New Vegas guy for nearly a decade. saying that the show retcons fnv is a bit of a stretch. i’m personally not happy that todd and bethany esda are approaching this given that they’ve treated fnv as the stepchild that they hate because people like it more than their own kids. but i also don’t think it will be That Deep

update: seen the tweet from emil pagliaro (sp?) about how it’s not a retcon, considering he also clarified the timeline. so now i have a lot of theories

i’ve kind of had a realisation. aziraphale is a hedonist (obviously) and maybe the reason he keeps rejecting crowley over and over again is not just because he’s scared of their respective head offices, but also because he knows that he would loose himself in crowley. he‘s loved him for so long, and we see time and time again that aziraphale cannot deny himself the things he loves (food, books, wine, etc.). what if he keeps rejecting crowley, because he knows that once he taps into that infinite well of love he has for him, he‘ll never be able to go back. we know he‘s terrified of taking risks and with pursuing crowley, he‘d be risking ruining their relationship and loosing himself in the process. and if that’s not enough reason for you, i want to remind you that azi is an angel, and being an angel is all about being prim and proper and upholding all the rules. never taking risks, not just doing what’s right but what’s expected of you. crowley turned his back on that a long time ago, when he fell. he‘s been a demon for at least 6000 years now, breaking all the rules and following whatever wild desire he may have, has basically been his job description since the beginning of time. it’s not as easy for aziraphale.
