And I think it's ridiculous how we tend to overlook the fact that Nico di Angelo, son of Hades who can shadow-travel, face the Lord of the Dead in his own palace AND convince him to help save Olympus, navigated the Labyrinth ALONE without driving himself insane, and summon the dead with Coke and Happy Meals (not to mention an entire army of t h o u s a n d s), was 10-12 years old in the entirety of the PJO series.

Plus, the dude's an earthbender AND necromancer in one. OP, if you ask me. And rightly so.

So yeah, thinking he might just be the most powerful half-blood in the series.

Cao Ang has been my blorbo for a long time because he is a fascinating contradiction. he achieved nothing and did nothing of note, but seems to have left a significant impression on those around him. Cao Cao expresses regret for him on his deathbed. Cao Pi talks about how he should have been the rightful heir. Lady Ding was willing to disobey the most powerful man in the empire in order to get the smallest measure of justice for him. His death always struck me as, well, a feel-good narrative told by a guilty conscience. Cao Cao could have ordered any one of his bodyguards to give up his horse, but he didn't. It makes sense in the coldest, most logical way. Why lose an able-bodied fighter for a brat? You can always make more. I came up with a bunch of scenarios of what "really" happened, but in the end i realised it doesn't matter. Cao Cao still left his son to die. the horror comes from the ambiguity itself. I also wanted to explore how his actions would impact the remainder of his children. They realised overnight that they were all disposable and no one was safe. the real tragedy doesn't come from Cao Ang's death, but his father undoing all his hard work. Ang tried his best to give them love, curb their worst impulses, and foster good relationships between them, only for his father to stick them in the Sibling Royale. Climb to the top and uproot all your competition. ect. ect.

But I am an optimistic person and I believe true love can pierce the veil and save the day and all that. Cao Ang's ghost continues to haunt the narrative and in the end, he manages to effect his brothers in some way. Cao Pi comes to realise that, hey, this kinda sucks, actually. i think we're emotionally stunted and perpetuating the cycle of violence. maybe i don't have to trample all my brothers to preserve my own life. maybe i shouldn't become exactly like father. hmm much to think about. Cultural Context, for those interested:

the opening scene is based on Cao Pi's poem "Traveling on the city wall." His poems are notable for being very emo, he talks about feeling isolated and unfulfilled despite having every worldly possession. I decided to connect it with Cao Zhi's (ahistorical) bean poem. the metaphor is less profound, but what can you do? he is the lesser poet after all ;))) .

I've done basically nothing but lay down and be exhausted since kirb2k over 2 months ago, but I did at least get the kirbox orders fulfilled. Petunia - everything ive read has like two meanings, one is Resentment and Anger, but the other is the desire to spend time with your partner. It fits Ash's story arc pretty well :3

Breakfast. It's his favorite meal after leaving the Empire, and staring a day without being hungry is shockingly good for morale. Ash would be a whole ass breakfast, eggs, pancakes, hash browns, grits, coffee, etc. (or Insert whatever your regional breakfast of choice is 😂) Post Empire he allows himself to indulge more often.

2. Why does your oc look the way they do? What are your reasons for their appearance?

Ash is BLUE bc he's a Chiss! He actually started out as a Mandalorian OC so he was vaguely alien but then i changed his story and liked him being Chiss and in the empire 🤪

He dyes his hair blond for a while after defecting, just because he can. He's got control over his appearance for once so he does the queerest thing u can and fucks up his hair :3

5. What kind of abilities and power level does your oc have? Why did you give them their powers? What's the in-universe reason?

Baby boy is force sensitive and was trained by some Impressive folks in the Empire, and YEAH he's a little op but! that's ok bc i mentally ruined him with trauma :3

Ash actually learned how to use the Force IN the Empire, which was part of the main thing that lead him to defect, so he's actually a little scared of the Force. He's only seen it truly in the context of the Dark side, so he rarely taps into that side of him.

Other than that he's just a really talented Speeder Bike Racer (which he doesn't REALIZE is bc he's force sensitive, but that's ok he's trying his best lmfao) - the reason i worked that into his story is literally because while i was working on Ash, I was like listening to the radios from Nascar races bc i think they're funny

16. What aspect(s) of the universe's lore are they connected to? Do they change/add lore to the universe?

YEAH BC why the fuck not, star wars is a goddamn mess of a universe anyway

yeah so Ash doesn't really interact with the movies much aside from one BIG thing, he defects on the day the first Death Star blows up, but like, before it's blown up. He and his team help revels blow up the Empire Base they were stations on, which was a communications base, that would have been responsible for immediately alerting other imperial ships if the Death Star needed back up. (i just always thought it was like, maybe a little weird that none of those big star destroyers launched an attack immediately on Yavin, It's not like the rebels won with firepower lol they essentially got lucky that the DS had that weakness)
