pro tip: you cannot haggle the price at an op shop

yes, we’re a charity shop. no, I can’t reduce the price, I’m a volunteer. I’ll check with the manager.

she’ll also say no.

yes those pants are $50 they retail for $500 yes we get them for free -

this is a charity shop, raising money for disaster relief.

yes those shoes are $100, they retail for $900, they’re designer. yes they are a little scuffed leave me alone I work here for free.

we have donated clothes for a reasonable, cheap affordable price, stop haggling with the tired volunteer cashier over the price of designer high heels.

go buy them at the store for a thousand dollars new instead of a $100 slightly used if you want them so desperately.

Part Five of KarmaGotMe's Op Shop Finds!

After around 4-5 hours of wandering around in Albury and North Albury hitting up the op shops, I ended up with a decent amount of loot and... this.

Is it a triceratops? Is it some other form of dinosaur? Or is it, as it is so elegantly labelled, a LIZARD? Who knows? Whatever it is, the dish is cool, it made me laugh, and I couldn't leave it behind.

These are my boards I made for NCEA Level 3 Photography last year (I got excellence with scholarship!!!!!).

My theme was Forgotten Objects. Board 1 focuses on the origin of the objects. I took photos in a local op shop and of where/how I store the objects at home). Board 2 focuses on the artistic nature of the objects. I arranged them into gradients, blended macro photos of the objects, and also placed them on monochromatic backgrounds relating to the objects. Board 3 takes a more scientific approach. I created gallery style labels and displayed the objects as if they were part of a museum exhibition. Across the boards the objects get more and more organized.

They are intended to be viewed in order (left to right).

Tumblr doesn't really like the high resolution lol

heya, hope you’re well :) Today was a rest day for me. I woke up at twelve-ish, had some breakfast outside with Prue, and got ready for the day. I then went op shopping with my mum and scored a rlly cool Scrabble mug that mimics the colour and font of the game tiles.

It also had a ‘triple word’ at the bottom of the mug and the letter distribution for each person in a game, which I thought was really unique. I love novelty mugs so much, I could never have enough of them haha. After that we did some shopping and then went home and had some dinner.

It was hot before, but has cooled down now, which I’m thankful for. I’m looking to get a better sleep than I did yesterday, so I’ll have a hot chocolate and head to bed. Anyways, I think that’s gonna be all for now. Thanks for reading and take care of yourself <3

i can’t stress this enough. if you want some new clothes, go thrifting. if you want some new decor, go thrifting. if you want some books or notebooks or whatever the fuck it is, GO THRIFTING. there’s so much good shit you can find at the thrift store, and it’s cheap and good for the environment because you’re essentially upcycling things!

i’m not forcing anyone to thrift shop; it’s just a better option than going off SHEIN or target or something.
