Having the realisation that because my hair has grown out, so has Nina's.
I hope Nina realises that her hair is long enough to be styled around people she trusts. Because if it's long enough to style, it's probably close to how long it was when she was a witch elf.
If she realises this when she's alone? That won't go down well. She needs to re-associate long hair with pride in her current self, and not pride in her witch elf self.
One of my friends did a "Show your OC before and after their trauma" and it got me thinking.
Thinking of an elf's hair being super important. Of long hair being a symbol of pride and status in some cases.
Nina having super long hair as a witch elf, her being super proud of it, of being skilled enough that she hadn't damaged it in battle yet. We joked yesterday that Nina's kill count is probably insanely high, and she has no idea.
This is Nina nowadays. She's going through it. But losing her hair was a last year thing. She lost a Lot of her hair in a housefire, so it's super short and uneven.
Anyways. Elf hair being a symbol of power and pride and Nina being a witch elf, part of the the kill-on-sight race that is dark elf, with gorgeous, long hair, vs masquerading as a high elf, the most self-important elf race, and having short, messy hair.

[What to do when someone Incredibly powerful finds out about your heritage? You fear for your life, of course!]

Nina didn't spend long in town on the final night of the Throng. There was *way* too much on her mind.
Her thoughts were barely comprehensible. Witch Elf. Priestess. Murderer.
And someone powerful knows knows. Nina had crumpled the second he looked at her with no faith, and her poor excuse of a wayshard.
"You wouldn't believe me if I said no, would you."
"I think you just gave yourself away anyway."
Running to her closest confidant in Kriegstor, Nina pulled her aside and told her everything.
"I cannot flee, he will send people to hunt me down...!"
Grief filled her every word. The tears that sprung up in her eyes earlier had been tears of joy. Of knowing her full name. Of knowing who she is. Nina Charoi Nemethova.
Those tears were now tears of fear, knowing that no matter what she did, if Nina did something ever-so-slightly wrong, if those stronger than her caught wind of it, that would be it for her.
A shadow warrior could cut her down before she had the chance to raise her staff. Before she could finish saying "Veritas".
If there was any uncertainty of her heritage before, it was gone now.
Nina was a druchii. And she must redeem herself, or die by the hands of those that once stood by her side.
From now on, Nina had to watch her every step.

12 HOURS UNTIL BUMP IN. AAAAAAA
i have made myself some vanilla chai (I FOUND THE BRAND WE USE AT ONE OF MY JOBS IM SO HAPPY) and i am trying to wind down for the night. up in checks watch that isn't there six hours to get ready to leave!
