After that and a series of parahumans all attacking, the Dragon Teeth guy gets room to act and all he does is blind Jack a little. That's it. Doesn't even injure him. He just throws some foam over Jack's eyes which allowed Tecton to punch him.

That was apparently enough for Gray Boy to deem Jack a loser and loop him. Which you'd think Jack's passenger would have an issue with and get Gray Boy to look the other way, but he's apparently special in that regard and gets a pass from the whole communication thing Jack has going on.

But no, Jack never loses to parahumans.

Reading Interlude as a Sol fictive has been an absolute experience. If you had tacked onto the end of Begin without saying anything I'd probably have thought nothing of it, it matches so well

So sometimes I wonder a little how it compares to Kazuya Negishi's work for Begin since, even though I did a translation of Begin, I don't have an original text this time for Interlude to guide my words or the plot. It's tricky!

you're spending way too much time trying to find an explanation for everything you do and think, aren't you? you feel like all of the answers have to come from inside of you, since that's the role you've grown into. from the outside, people think you have it together. they see your open arms as invitation, and therefore keep leaning on you. at first, it was okay, since you wanted to help. but slowly, you're being dragged further and further down. you need help, too. but you're supposed to be there for everyone else. you're the one they go to when they're struggling. you've put everyone else first, and now you feel like you can't allow others to know that you need help. please, stop telling yourself you're fine. deep down, you know you aren't. things don't have to be this way. you can let those people in. if anything, they will be grateful that you reached out. can you imagine how nice it'd feel to take a break from dealing with this all on your own?

i am now trying to parse out a meme somebody posted casting Itto from Genshin Impact and Douman from F/GO as the Virgin and Chad meme because like. I deadass do not understand the comparison here besides “both are buff japanese dudes from rival gacha games”. Like is it just “Haha Itto isn’t as buff as Douman”?????? What’s the argument here?????

Like, the problem is that on a character comparison level it’s just nonsense. These two have nothing in common and don’t even fulfill the same narrative role unless you start grasping at straws over the definition of “clown”. Itto is a funnyman frat bro, he’s a wacky comedic relief character based around being a hotblooded shounen anime delinquent type who gets up to silly, petty antics. He’s even less threatening than Team Rocket on their goofier days because he’s not even a villain in the first place, he’s just a boisterous, friendly meathead. Douman meanwhile is a literal posterboy for the Evil Vizier archetype, his whole role in the narrative is to run around and ruin things, manipulate his “bosses” into destroying themselves, and to taunt the protagonists and rub salt into the wounds of every person he ever meets. The jester motifs in his design represent his mockery of the world around him, they’re not there to indicate that he’s literally meant to be a funnyman. One of these characters is comedic relief, and the other is a deadly serious recurring villain, and These Are Not The Same.

If you really want to make a joke like this, you should wait until Genshin starts really showing off more of the Fatui in the main story, because the Fatui do serve the same narrative function and motifs as Douman, like the whole “invocation of clown imagery to represent that the character is making a mockery of the world around them” thing. Or if it is just a whole joke about “haha this character isn’t as buff as this other one”, at least make that context clear so that your memes don’t look utterly incomprehensible.

Ykno, I've been thinking about the way discacc has a bit of a running theme with Dancing. Between The Dance (metaphorical dance to describe the entire time they weren't being upfront about things), goro's happiest memories with his mother being of them dancing, and then the literal dance marking the end of The Dance...

There's a theme.

Couple that with the fact that the original name of discacc was going to be Discordant Harmony (until I googled it and found it was a mlp episode and I CANNOT have that), and we get a definite theme.

Harmony, music, and dancing.

That's the source of the series name, Steps to Harmony. Recycling the use of Harmony from the original thing I had in mind, then coupling the fact that this is a series of steps towards them achieving their "harmony" (since discacc will Not be the end of their emotional problems lmfao) AND dancing imagery.
