The June Something - Day 8
Based on these questions.
What is a fandom that you never thought you'd get into, but did? Bonus: How did you end up getting into it?
So once upon a time, I really, really wanted to get into Arrow and The Flash fandoms. Seriously, the male leads in both are just...WOOF! There needs some slashy times going on! But I never really got into them that much, mostly because there just wasn't enough slash potential. I think I wrote a couple of Oliver/Tommy fics when Tommy was killed at the end of season one. And then I remember writing a Flash/Captain Cold fic, because I had a wee bit of a crush on Wentworth Miller, the actor that plays Captain Cold. I pushed, and managed to get out an occasional (albiet short) Barry Allen/Oliver Queen crossover written, but I never felt that the voice was quite right. It was a fandom that I just could not get into because I wasn't confident in the voices I was writing.
And then popkin16 sat me down, adjusted my slash goggles, and pointed me at Cisco Ramon/Harrison Wells.
If any two male characters on a current TV show deserve to be slashed, it's Cisco and Harry. They're both brilliant characters, and both have snark for DAYS. If there's one thing that I absolutely adore, it's snark. (I'm looking at you, John and Rodney, Danny Williams, Monroe, Blair, and Claudia!) I read a little bit, and then when the mood struck me, wrote my first ever Cisco/Harry story.
I do really like Cisco/Harry, so I think that once I finish my current rewatch of PoI, I may attempt to watch The Flash. I got uptight about watching The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow only because it was three running shows that you had to basically keep straight in a spreadsheet as to what aired before what, and then watch them in order. It became more of a task than a pleasure. But I think I've successfully killed that thought, and am just going to rewatch The Arrow, and maybe later on, Legends of Tomorrow.
