Natalicio de Wendy Orlean Williams, vocalista fundadora de Plasmatics, nacida en Webster, Nueva York, EUA, quien, si viviera, hoy cumpliría 74 años. Una figura de culto del rock que con Plasmatics creo un monstruoso híbrido de punk y metal que tuvo un gran revuelo en los 80's. Aparte de la música, su imagen estrafalaria, sexual y perturbadora y sus espectáculos impactantes, donde hacía volar autos, destruía guitarras con sierras eléctricas y muchas barbaridades más, atrajeron a propios y extraños, algunos horrorizados, pero otros gratamente fascinados por su gran propuesta artística. Su espectáculo y experimentos estéticos, como simular una masturbación sobre el escenario o tapar sus pezones solo con pequeñas tiras de cinta adhesiva, serían después imitados por gente como Madonna o Lady Gaga. Después de una memorable carrera con Plasmatics y su banda homónima WOW, Wendy se retira en 1991, con su esposo Rod Swenson, a Connecticut donde, en 1998, logra quitarse la vida después de dos intentos fallidos. Su esposo Rod declaró en ese entonces fuertemente devastado: "La amaba más allá de la imaginación. Ella era una fuente de fuerza, inspiración y coraje. El dolor en este momento al perderla es inexpresable. Apenas puedo imaginar un mundo sin Wendy O. Williams en él. Para mí, un mundo así está profundamente disminuido".
