albinnaux is like a failed griffith from berserk. both of them committed hard to childhood dreams beyond the reasonable point where everyone else would have given up and albinnaux did eventually give up but not before costing him almost all that he'd worked for. and like asogi kazuma, determination made things worse but continuing past the point where they should have tried another approach and its only after he gave up that things got better.

I was talking about how shipping does not come naturally to me. i don't see any character in a romantic or sexual light until im externally exposed to it, its just not the default. long term exposure or the work works hard to convince me, thats usually what it takes. The only ffxiv ocs that are in relationships are the ones where the core concept im exploring is the relationship itself like noyu and lau or cynng and maud, otherwise while i conceptually know most of them have dated in the past like mathilde or cookie or yvontel i can only really think about it in the vaguest sense unless i put a lot of effort into it.

at which point reversalsun said "I think you should ship alby with Jannequinard" and that caused me so much psychic damage that my brain went into overdrive for like 20 minutes. i love janne he's one of my favorites, what a pathetic man, but he's... yeah.

albinnaux likes competence and janne is ... the exact sort of useless noble brat albinnaux thinks is the scourge of ishgard. also you know they know each other right? its like seeing that idiot you knew in middle school and he's still an idiot. oof yeah im struggling you picked pretty good opposites the one similarity is that neither are traditionalists although albinnaux pretended or at least gave plausible deniability while in ishgard. does he even like men??? i can say that pre arr albi would hesitate being seen with janne because of the possible reputation hit by associating with an eccentric slut. reputation would also be why he never befriended haurchefant. stephanivien's high status makes it less risky. he'd probably like laniaitte actually if privately thinking her not ambitious enough. also in my first draft janne and albi are first cousins. i like half ditched the house durendaire idea though so idk where that stands. this fact i only remembered because i thought about how funny it would be for albinnaux and carvellain to meet in limsa. i originally made albinnaux a durendaire because i thought it would be funny and also for the family drama. but as i build his story i realized i would make more sense for him not to be from the big 4.

of the npcs albinnaux would most likely date minfilia. she's someone who believed in him at his lowest (patch 2.5?) so it was the right time and place. and i think their personalities are pretty compatible. with albinnaux you need someone who can bend and give to meet him but will also hold their ground when its important. albinnaux is cold on the surface and runs hot deep underneath. minfilia has a mild demeanor and strong convictions so i think she'd be able to meet him where he is. like when albinnaux isnt playing nice to cosy up to someone in power his natural demeanor is a little prickly and not a lot of people can handle it which is why he often hides it. as much as he's been burned and embittered albinnaux has also had a strong moral core so he attracted to people with strong morals and ideals who care about things like justice and the greater good. more generally because of his repeated failures he admires people with strong convictions and high competency. he would never admit any of this. and then on a personal note j just dont really like age gap romances so unless its for a specific purpose i'll usually chose people in the same age range. oh yeah and narratively i wanted albinnaux to get that little spark of hope before crushing it hahahahaha

i also think discussions of spirituality and religion would be interesting between them. albinnaux was raised orthodox halonic but came to disavow church and religion seeing them as tools to oppress the people and keep the highborn in power. minfilia though is very spiritual and religious she's basically head priest to the hydaelyn cult. and him getting crystal mommy visions and powers is uh an experience. so its the first time he sees faith as a non negative though he isnt about to worship anyone ever. cant remember if i told you but in arr albinnaux sees himself as only the warrior of light and worthless on his own. i find albinnaux and minfilia to have compatible personalities but faith and religion just might be the driving wedge between them. idk how it'd turn out. in arr albinnaux would probably find that devoutness off-putting and is generally wary of any overtly religious person being so used to the inquisitors. that its hydaelyn adds another layer to it since albinnaux all at once feels grateful, jealous/power hungry, and resentful towards hydaelyn. and also the twelve are well known but hydaelyn worship is like that weird side cult thing right?

but there's also the fact that personally i don't find minfilia interesting so im not like excited to think about her. im pretty good at taking my biases into account when evaluating things impartially. which is how i came up with minfilia for an answer but that doesn't mean i like it. i also considered haurchfant who i personally like much better. haurchefant's ... a LOT when the player first meets him and i wonder if that might be different if albinnaux is the wol since they know of each other by reputation if nothing else. "the fortemps bastard" and albinnaux had all sorts of gossip trailing him in ishgard (part of why he snapped) and now he's also a deserter. albinnaux also definitely snubbed/avoided haurchefant as a kid so while albi never directly bullied haurchefant i can see him walking away without helping. of course both are professional enough to work together. if haurchefant had acted like he does in game albinnaux would have wanted to run for the hills but would have grit his teeth because he has a job to do.

rocky starts aside hauchefant like minfilia is also that mix of bending and unbending. he's more easy going than albinnaux but will also hold his ground. he has strong convictions and is someone actively moving towards his goals which albinnaux would be similarly drawn too. i also think there's an interesting mix of albinnaux who's been repressing himself in a lot of ways for years and hauchefant who's one of the least repressed ishgardian we meet (stephanivien is probably the other). i think the biggest stumbling block here is that they are fundamentally oriented towards different things. both acknowledge the injustices of ishgard but with minfilia and albinnaux its ideals first and everything else is to back those up, while haurchefant seems more physically grounded in reality with a keen eye for the here and now.

stephanivien was another consideration. he's such a freak i love him. it helps that he and albinnaux are already good friends. they just get along very well. he's his little funny rabbit. they believe in a lot of the same things too though albinnaux rarely said those things out loud. steph said: guns will make knights obsolete and undermine the power of nobility and albinnaux thought hell yeah finally youre so right bestie. i can see them chatting through the night talking about the future. one thing they'd have to overcome is when albinnaux confronts him about something i can see stephanivien dodging and deflecting where albi would have preferred to be met head on. i can also see steph being a little too much to deal with if albinnaux is feeling tired or grumpy. whether he says it or not is another thing but albinnaux really admires stephanivien for being unabashedly himself and wholeheartedly pursuing his own interests and ignoring the expectations for high house sons. albinnaux tried to have both and ended up not achieving either which is something that pains him so seeing steph is like looking into the sun.

this was very challenging since by default i mostly think of these as platonic, but i guess they could work as romantic. oh and there's no conclusion to this or anything its just a thought experiments. shame that i think about 100 faster than i type. and writing things out is such a pain so it usually doesn't happen.

hi aby,i enjoy reading your BB theories and about the lords of stars ,do you think the lord polaris(the butler) might related to Brighton hotel(?) where Sebastian and OC will investigate? I personaly think lord vega are twin girls and are well educated children(i dont believe 2 adults would fit in a small bed in vega room),so they might be in the school where snake and finny will investigate?Im sorry for my bad english

My ideas about the lords of the stars being at the different assignment locations really hasn’t changed since the last few posts I’ve made about them.

Here is a recap of my predictions on this:

The manor: I expect Lord Polaris to be stationed at Heathfield Manor, since that’s the place one would most expect to see a “butler”. There’s blood being collected there, and we know Undertaker sent Polaris to obtain “food” for real Ciel. This suggests that Lord Polaris is capable of traveling long distances in very short times, since Yorkshire is the farthest away from Brighton (more on that later).

There are also all those maids... and Jane is potentially a candidate for Lord Polaris (and even “Knife Dude”), since she strikes me as a good parallel to the Angela Blanc side of the Ash Landers/Angela Blanc combo, from s1 of the anime. If Jane is Lord Polaris, or if Lord Polaris is there, then Mey-Rin really might die soon after her flashback ends. Depends largely on the answer she gives to Jane’s offer of employment/switching sides.

The orphanage: This is where Finny and Snake have been sent. From this assignment, I predict we will see flashbacks from Finny and/or Snake. So far, we’ve really only seen snippets of their lives before meeting our earl and Sebastian.

I agree this is where Lord Vega should be, and I agree it’s young twins. I’m not sure whether they are boy and girl or both girls. However, I’m also leaning towards girls, since their speech pattern reminds me, frighteningly, of Bluer’s little twin sisters, who also speak in unison and with bubbly voices. Lord Vega was also sent out to get “food” for real Ciel, so the orphanage might be another blood collection site.

The sanatorium: This is where Bard and Lau have been sent, and I expect to get flashbacks from either or both of them, too. We know very little about them before meeting our earl and Sebastian, too. Bard was found as the last man alive on a battlefield. Lau’s impending arrival to England has been mentioned during Mey-Rin’s current flashback, and it’s a good setup to learning more about him when we get to his assignment. Particularly since the sanatorium supposedly caters to war veterans. I expect Bard and Lau to go in as war vets suffering from PTSD, and that’s a really good lead-in to get their backstories.

Lord Canopus should be there, since that one does have bleeding wounds... according to the bloody bandages in their bedroom at Sphere Music Hall. There’re also rumors about a nurse there with special healing abilities, and I wonder where Blavat is now... and what new scam he might be pulling. Could he go from fortune-teller to miracle-worker? Possibly. If he’s been released from jail, he would likely go back to work but with a new gimmick, even a new persona. This, instead of being a place to collect blood, might be a place to transfuse it... to Lord Canopus, as well as to any more renal failure patients that help provide funding. The vast majority of “Vega” and “Polaris” blood collected probably ends up here, since the renal patients in Bath never received “Sirius” blood. If Lord Canopus is here, too, then “Canopus” blood would also be delivered here.

The resort: Our earl and Sebastian have gone here, and this is where I expect real Ciel/Lord Sirius and Undertaker to be located. If the Viscount of Druitt shows up again, I can see this being where, too, since it’s a lap of luxury where some of the elite have decided to stay... indefinitely. Lord Polaris could show up with “Sirius” blood for real Ciel, as well as with updates on what’s happening at the other three locations. Since I think Lord Polaris isn’t a bizarre doll or a human, I expect Lord Polaris to be the main transporter of blood and relayer of news.

This assignment will be saved for last. Here is where our earl and Sebastian will likely learn the fates of the servants and other allies they sent on the other three assignments. If Tanaka isn’t at Phantomhive Manor anymore, then he’s probably here. Here is where we will get more information from Undertaker. Here is where Undertaker might also have to fight Sebastian again... as well as reapers from the organization. Someone will respond to Othello’s dove, you know...? 👀

Depends. I write when I can come up with a good reply and I post when I see something I like. I dont queue. There is no real rhyme or reason to when I post. Sometimes its 30 times in 30 minutes and sometimes I don't post for a month. I try not to take more than a month for thread replies, though this doesn't always work.

Para to multi-para. I dont format and I don't really like anything too flowery in my writing (personal preference). Rp partners don't have to match length, but I expect some amount of effort to be put in. If I write 10 paragraphs and get a sentence in return, I probably won't feel inspired to reply.

Donte Lau

Donte, along with his younger sister, escapes from the restrictive family and tries to start a new life. The beginnings are not easy, especially when he meets his new neighbor, Adriel, who discovers that something is wrong with Donte because he can have completely conflicting and irrational behavior in a short time. However, Adriel did not give up despite being rejected many times by his friend. He urges him to see a doctor, and this saves Donte's life because it turns out he had a brain tumor. Fortunately, the doctors managed to help him and he recovered. When he regained his full strength, he was able to convey to Adriel what he really felt for him 😍🥰

i wonder where my ffxiv ocs would be on that meme. so few of them are in relationships... let me count on my fingers... rikfa 1... maud and cynnig 2... .... ... lau and noyu makes 3 ships. yeah that's it, everything else is like vague thoughts "lol what if"s like i had a stray thought to make a haurchefant ship with albinnaux or cookie cookie (yes his name is indeed Cookie Cookie or just Cookie for short) but those thoughts were never hashed out enough to be canon/

the short of my 14 page dissertation: bisexual homoromantic… kinda. and uh a lot of sex and ambiguous relationships but very little committed romance for both of them

funfact: noyu has tall vibes despite not being tall, so much so that i myself forget that he is not tall.

these two are my first ffxiv characters who i made because i needed vehicles for miqo'te worldbuilding. their story spans their entire lives so this is just a snapshot. as a counterpoint to say aurele or the forest lesbians exploring non traditional miqo'te society, lau, noyu, and chet explore what queerness looks like within traditional miqo'te society (please refer to my post where i argue being lesbian is being the new straight) these two are the tale of hypercompetative toxic masculinity having a bad time, the 40 year long rivals to friends to lovers slow burn to the backdrop of miqo'te society dynamics.

lau and noyu dream of being nunh, but was that really such a good idea? so they both start on a quest to be the best there ever was, the strongest fighter out there! they're very shounen manga sports anime the novel is my head actually starts with noyu as a child noticing gender differences, how boys are encouraged to be competitive, and how the nunh is really cool.

the two meet up while adventuring (training) and they end up in the same party. it does not go well and the two are immediately at each others necks. this is early in their adventuring career, possibly their first party, i imagine they're in their late teens. so its a very rough start, but during the final boss there's a moment where they just click and take down the boss, and the memory of that spark haunts them. noyu is a gladiator a sword and shield tank and lau is a pugilist a punch boy. after they finish the job both are like im done with this dude. but over like the next year they end up in the same party several more times and after many hurdles find that they actually work very well together. doesn't stop them from beating the shit out of each other for fun in their off time. They eventually start regularly partying together and after a few more heart to hearts go from rivals to friends AND rivals. this is like golden age arc or training montage depending on how you're feeling. from like 21 to 29? they work as adventurers ever seeking stronger enemies to fight and honing their own combat abilities.

the next part is the "main story" where they take up with a new tribe and spend like the next decade competing to be nunh and theres 2 nunhs and they change like every few months/years so its always exciting. each has grown into his power and is where he always wanted to be in life. and yet over the years comes a sense of growing dissatisfaction. hell yea midlife crisis time because are they really my character if they don;t have at least 1 existential crisis. this is also the beginning of the romance yeah lol its been 15 years. where despite trying out various relationships their mind ends up going back to the other. ex: lau messes around with someone but afterwards thinks about noyu. they start living together but still dont talk about it. its not until like their mid forties that they realize "maybe i never wanted to be nunh, maybe i just wanted to impress noyu/lau" and of course its more complicated than that. slowly but surely comes the realization that maybe gendered expectations are bullshit and this isn't making me happy and that they find happiness in the company of each other. so they dump their community responsibilities go off into the sunset be deadbeat dads (*). (and spend years later apologizing for it) * i imagine nunh aren't directly responsible for childcare (though some choose to be) but as a more general community wide mentor figure. though it also varies community to community. so its not actually quite as bad as a deadbeat but they do definitely wasn't fair to the people they leave behind.

and they become adventurers again. partly because they don't have a lot of marketable skills besides fighting good, partly because midlife crisis they don't know what they're doing, and partly out of nostalgia for their old adventuring days. but of course there is no return to the past and how they remember things may not be totally accurate. there is no reliving one's youth. and so its this strange mix of the familiar and the new, and the things they thought they once knew are strange and its unnerving. they spend a lot of time revising places they'd once been and among those is noyu's hometown where a lot of his sisters still live (lau didn't have the best relationship with his family so he has no desire to return). i've been recounting the plot. but the plot and characters are all just an excuse to explore miqo'te worldbuilding and various themes like gender and society.

ok. so lau and noya wander around clueless for like a year or two visit noyu's sisters and find they rather like being those two weird gay uncles so they settle down in noyu's hometown and retire/become baby sitters to the various nieces and nephews and they get married. and over the course of the next decade or so they reflect and come to terms with their past and eventually do reconcile with the tribe they left behind and lau's remaining family. i wouldn't say they end up on good terms but there's no resentment, they make amends. and during this time they adopt a pair of orphaned sisters so they really do become dads in the end. the ending scene is them in their 60s sending off their girls who have decided to become adventurers.

gay dads was always endgame it was just a long road to true gay fatherhood. its only after lau and noyu find home within each other that they question, destroy, and rebuilt their external physical homes.

edit: i realized i might have made something easy to misinterpret. their story isn't about them accepting that they're a little gay. nah (almost) everyone in mirror society is a little gay they don't have a problem with that. its that lau and noyu learn that they don't need to compromise their love, that they don't need to love each other AND also be nunh.
