Taína Cruz’s first New York solo exhibition opens September 7th, 2022, 7-9 pm @ HOUSING.
Including a series of oil paintings, videos, sound installations, and small sculptures, this exhibition explores African-American and Puerto Rican folklore and ritual traditions and oral histories in their present-day manifestations. In this body of work, Cruz summons the spirituality and mysticism of a 400-year lineage of healers and enchanters. The artist invites the viewer to become part of a ritual where magic reverberates across all aspects of modern Black life—everywhere and in everything.
