CRT isn't taught in grade schools. History is. If you don't want history taught just say so.
This kind of thing is nothing new for natives. Just about the whole country still celebrates our genocide every year.

I have to wonder how many people celebrating AI translation also complain about "broken English" and how obvious it is something was Google translated from another language without a fluent English speaker involved to properly clean up the translation/grammar.
Because I bet it's a lot.
I know why execs are all for it—AI is the new buzzword and it lets them cut jobs thus "save" money and not have to worry about pesky labour laws when one employs humans—but everyone else?
There was some outcry when Crunchyroll fired many of their translators in favour of AI translation (with some people to "clean up the AI's work") but I can't help but think that was in part because it was Japanese-to-English and personally affected them. Same when Duolingo fired many of their translators in favour of LLM translation. Meanwhile companies are firing staff when it's English to another language and there's this idea that that's fine or not as big a deal because English is "easy" to translate and/or because people don't think of how it will impact people in non-English countries.
Also it doesn't affect native English speakers so it doesn't get much headway in the news cycle or online anyway because so much of the dominant media is from English-speaking countries and English-speakers dominate social media.
But different languages have different grammar structures that LLMs don't do, and I grew up on "jokes" about people speaking in "broken English" and mocking people who use the wrong word when it was clearly a literal translation but the meaning was obvious long before LLMs were a thing, too. In fact, the specific way a character spoke broken English has been a way to denote their native tongue for decades, usually in a racist way.
Then Google translate came out and "Google-translated English" became an insult for people and criticism of companies because it was clearly wonky to native speakers. Even now, LLMs—which are heavily trained on English compared to other languages—don't have a natural output so native English speakers can clock LLM-generated text if it's longer than a sentence or two.
But, for whatever reason, it's not seen as a problem when it goes the other way because fuck non-English readers or people who want to read in their native tongue I guess.

I feel like actually making my own post instead of being annoying in the tags of someone elses
I feel like much of the fallout fandom has a very “my way or the high way” line of thinking. its either “this incredibly flawed faction is actually based for everything they do, no question” or “if you like this incredibly flawed faction for any reason and play their ending you are a terrible person”
but to truly understand a fallout faction in order to break down what makes it the way it is, you should play through their ending. even if your opinion on them doesnt change in the end. its important to know about how they work, how they think, what they do and have done.
because no matter which way of thinking you are, you get to see All Sides of the faction. the good and the bad. for instance legion fans will always say the ncr is bad because taxes and bullying local towns into joining their territories etc. but like. the legion commits daily cultural and Actual genocide. AND they have tribute, which is just their fancy word for legion taxes.
or the lyons chapter of the bos. they are nicer most of the time, they are more helpful than other chapters, but they still have GLARING issues. elder lyons is so focused on eliminating super mutants that it becomes an obsession that blinds him to the other ways he could help the capital wasteland. the fact that the bos wasnt interested in helping the people dying of thirst and radiation poisoning from the water until doctor li showed up and said james had done all the leg work for them. but even then lyons was hesitant, and only jumped into action when she said the enclave controlled the purifier now. and then STILL sends the lone wanderer for the geck with no backup unless the player actively seeks out star paladin cross.
you have to read into these things. blindly following a faction and ignoring their problems is why the old world was so shit leading up to the great war. the government cracked down on free thinking, unionizing was illegal and was considered literal treason. chinese americans were treated like shit and some were put into concentration camps. all the fear, all the propaganda, all the racism and hate and scummy corporations brought down the old world and left us with the wasteland we all know today.
and yet so many fans these games have somehow attracted completely miss that message and repeat the same line of thinking that blew the world up in 2077. its nuts. the whole franchise and its lesson. right over their heads. they are willing to ignore it because wow cool giant robot! wow cool guns that turn people to goop! wow based mummy man! wow cool ranger armor!

Well to be fully honest it takes some special degree of idiocy - or naivety perhaps - to work with disney and expect them to do it right depicting a civilization that, despite all or RR's pandering, is not at all Western.

i don't trust anyone whose entire presence online is being some kind of misery vulture.
if it looks like you couldn't wait for a disaster or war to start up, so your entire online presence is righteous posting about it, i consider that good reason to distrust you. i don't believe for one second anyone spends that much time on it, who doesn't get a kick out of it

i am gonna need Music Theory For Dummies or something because WHEW even the basics went right over my head

So I have never spent any amount of time looking at a map of nyc in all my 31 years of life, so getting on Google maps and staring and studying and Realizing™️ some shit has been hilarious and surreal.
I did not know that their famous subway does not connect to Staten Island.
They were not kidding, that island is Long
The Statue of Liberty is technically in New Jersey waters???
The statue is way further inland (in-bay?) than I realized.
Hell’s Kitchen is larger than I gave it credit for
It’s also like. A block away from Times Square
It always fucks me up that Central Park is. So. Rectangular. Perfectly rectangular. I Know nyc is “a grid system mf” but the park still looks like that image of Colorado superimposed on a natural borders map of the us. It looks weird.
I am not, however, surprised at how fucking massive the park is. I Knew one (1) thing about the city, and it was that.
I truly did not understand that the City is on 3 separate fucking islands. Like I know I have no concept of anything and I know I’ve never had any special interest in nyc, but the more I look at it the more I feel like I’ve never absorbed any information about it ever in my life.
Yonkers.

Look, I love Käärijä but wanna know what the funny thing is? I wasn't rooting for him alone. I had him fourth. I would have been ecstatic for 15 different songs winning! Meanwhile, Sweden fans tunnelvision. They only supported L o r e e n. "Yaaas women winning twice!!!" They did the same thing with Hold Me Closer last year. Spain's fans did it too with SloMo. If you don't place them high, if you don't agree, they tear you to shreds. It is *fucking* maddening. No other fans are like this. No other fans are this unwelcoming and toxic. Look, I love Sweden, I am partially Swedish (Mikkelsson), I've loved 10 of their songs over the last 14 years, but this is why I don't want them to host! I shouldn't hold a grudge for the actions of the fans, but this is *t i r e s o m e as all hell*
