In short: Yes, I like botw better.
Here are my reasons, though!
I know a lot of people view it as the better experience, which is completely subjective and valid if you do and like it better, but I just view botw as being better in almost every way.
I will give it to totk. The dungeons have a lot better atmosphere. The game has some extremely high highs with the build-up to the wind temple, the whole great sky island segment, and the final boss is a much better fight (though dark beast ganon has a better theme song imo).
Other than that, I prefer botw. Totk has a much grander story, but it's completely mishandled. You can argue that totk has a great story but has poor execution, and to me, execution plays a big role in what makes a story good. You can have good ideas bit it all falls apart if they aren't executed well which ends up making the story bad. It's not that totk has a good story with poor execution, it has good ideas but the bad execution leads to a poorly told story. (I hope that makes sense). Botw has less of a story and is more like a set of events. Botw has history and backstory that is told more organically. Link has amnesia so he slowly regains some of his memories of the past with some people trying to help fill him in. It feels more real...in a weird fantasy way. I guess totk is similar with how we see Zelda's memories, but not really? It's weird to explain. Everything 100 years ago is felt in present day botw while in totk most of those things don't really matter as it happened so long ago. Things only start to resurge because Zelda wanted to investigate under the castle. Totk also has twists like a story. Idk if this is making sense but that's how I feel on their stories. There was just not much botw could mess up on story wise as the way it was presented.
Gameplay wise I can not lie totk is technical marvel with the zonai tech. That's the most impressive thing about it. Tbh building contraptions isn't my thing though, it takes too long to make and experiment with a machine when I can just do whatever that machine was gonna do much faster. I see why people have a lot of fun with it though, it just isn't my thing. One thing I HATE in totk though is the amount of menuing I have to do. Elemental arrows had a serious downgrade. Yeah it's cool to fuse stuff to arrows, but not when I have to do it to ever single individual arrow and if I want to try something new I have to scroll past 50 other items in a single line. It's just tedious. If I want to use a good weapon I have to go to the menu, drop an item, and menu again to fuse it to a weapon that will still break. Item breaking is still an issue but it's more annoying and the weapons no longer look cool. Totk has some cool abilities, but idk I'd trade them all for remote bombs lmao. I hate going through caves, especially early game, and having to deal with the rock walls where they want me to fuse a rock to a stick 10 times to get through one cave. There's just a lot of little things gameplay wise that bug me. They doubled down on botws gameplay issues and added some more annoying ones. I don't even have to mention the sages abilities, that's a whole mess.
On the topic of gameplay, botw just has the better world. Idc, exploring that world for the first time is an unforgettable experience. Totks main world is too similar so the magic is gone. The sky and depths are also unimpressive and repetitive. Botw also has the benefit on how the word felt so lonely yet alive. Everything had a purpose or a story. The world has a history. And totk just doesn't have that. Outside of the upheaval, totk doesn't really build on botws world that much. I was hoping to see if they would've added new towns or see how they'd rebuild hyrule, but they really didn't do that. We only got lookout landing, which doesn't really count as a town, and a bunch of building stuff lying around which is cool I guess. Hateno has a school and Terry Town expanded a little, but with the estimate of about 5 years since botw it makes you wonder...what have these people been doing? We can theoretically build Terry Town in one day. There could be new towns.
Totk is a sequel that doesn't really acknowledge it's predecessor which is so odd. Botw stands on its own and is an overall more cohesive experience. Everything in the world feels purposefully crafted for that world while totk just slaps things on top of it with not much thought. Botw has some amazing world building while for totk it's either "the Zonai did it" or has some contradictory world building. For example, the old sages lifted up the sky islands so that Link would be protected from Ganondorf shenanigans, but then other sky islands suggest how they've been around long before Rauru since young Zonai used to train in them or something. There is also how Zelda says Link never leaves her side, but people she interacts with on an almost daily basis do not recognize him and how even treat as if he doesn't know some facts about her. So either she is overexaggerating by a lot and/or lying in her own diary or that people in hyrule have the collective memory of a rock. There's also Zelda supposedly never giving Link the champions leathers yet as a gift, but we see him wearing it in the beginning. Idk there's more contradictories, but I haven't experienced this for botw??? Totk is so disconnected and disjointed in comparison.
I'm trying to be vague but there's a lot to say, I'm sorry. I really was enjoying this game at the beginning but the more I played the more I noticed or saw things that bugged me and just kept adding up and up on each other. Botw was never like this for me. It's just more cohesive and I like that. There are so many other things I haven't brought up like the repetitive cutscenes, or missing characters/characters that SHOULD know Link but don't (namely Bolson and Hestu). But this post is long. I can't keep complaining about this game. Botw really is that one of a kind experience, and totk tries to replicate it but worse. Botw had a vine that totk lacks. You feel so alone, but you meet knew people and make friends. You build connections as you learn about the past and help those around you. There is no story, you're just a person going through the motions and exploring the vast world around you. Totk can't replace that for me. I'm the main character playing a side role in a disjointed world where not much makes sense. Everything is similar in all the wrong ways.
And most important of all, they took away Link's fun dialogue and personality now he really is bland asf and used to defend that he wasn't.

Hi. Sooo, while it won't match up 100%, for both my own creative freedom and also because I definitely do not understand it all the way, I based this mostly off of the ranking within the Yakuza. Since. Y'know. Yeahhh. This post is mostly a simple-ish thing for me to explain what exactly it is that the Executives DO and also sort of how the other ranks function. And also a bit of rambling about Archer and Ariana. oops

Going into more detail under the cut!
The boss, or the Oyabun, is obviously Giovanni. Don't feel the need to explain that one a whole lot. Giovanni runs the whole operation. He makes the decisions. He's at the top. He's the one making money.
Archer and Ariana both fit the Saiko-Komon and Wakagashira roles, but for the most part I think it would sit like this, with Ariana as Saiko-Komon, and Archer as Wakagashira.
Archer deals with many of the business aspects, especially after Giovanni left. Before that, however, he fit the role of Wakagashira more. He was, forgive the pun, Giovanni's dog. He went everywhere that Giovanni did. His main purpose is to organize the different operations of Rocket, especially higher-risk ones. He also manages the business and financial side of Rocket, though he shares those responsibilities with Ariana.
Ariana functions as a public face of sorts. While Archer deals with most of the technical aspects of the different businesses that run under Rocket, Ariana is the one who forms the relationships. The different science branches of Rocket are under her jurisdiction as well.
Petrel and Proton both fit the Shateigashira. They're the ones in charge of the different admins and grunts. While Archer organizes the missions, they're in charge of actually getting it done.
Proton is in charge of Security, and much of the bloodier side of the fieldwork. If there's a dispatch mission, he'll be the one running it. Proton's personal team is the Inquisition. Their purpose within Rocket is, very basically, to punish and/or acquire information. They are feared internally for being ruthless, and having very little internal repercussions for their actions. The worst of Rocket usually end up as Inquisitors, or other people under Proton's management.
Petrel runs Rocket's medical services, and the stealth side of fieldwork. He gets the missions that require infiltration. If a Rocket manages to get inside the police system, Petrel put them there. When he's at headquarters, he's usually either organizing teams or running the infirmary. Typically, the only time he ever actually performs medical services is if it's a high-ranking member.
The admins of Rocket form the Kyodai and Shatei. High-Ranking admins organize teams of low-ranking admins, who are in charge of their own teams of grunts. Each reports to the next, who then report to either Proton or Petrel. These are the people who make up the majority of Rocket.
In terms of the Executives, there isn't an official difference in rank between the white uniforms and the black. That only signifies where they work. Archer and Ariana work in business and organization. Petrel and Proton work in the field. That being said, there's an informal hierarchy amongst the Executives. Street smarts Vs. Book smarts. It doesn't help that Archer and Ariana are/were the ones with direct relationships to Giovanni. Petrel and Proton report to Archer, as he's the one making decisions over which missions are important or not.
For a while after Giovanni disappears, there is very much a power struggle between Archer and Ariana. They both fight to hold Giovanni's position. This is a continuation of the more personal struggle they had between each other, though that was more one-sided. Archer was very jealous of Ariana's relationship with Giovanni. The two were married, and while Giovanni wasn't necessarily the most loyal husband (Cough cough he cheats on Ari with Archer. She is well aware of this) the precedent remained, and he doesn't like it. Ariana does not have any particular problem with Archer, though she doesn't like how Giovanni takes advantage of him. There are several times that she tries to subtly warn him away from Giovanni. Archer willfully ignores this, and instead decides that her going up to him and saying "Giovanni is using you" is her trying to be sneaky and get him off her man, since CLEARLY she's jealous that her husband prefers his company to hers.
Eventually he figures out that, no, Giovanni did NOT in fact care about him more, and the tension between Archer and Ariana settles.

OK SOMEEEE gripes
im ACTUALLY extremely conflicted on some of the present day stuff and i think its mostly down to the characters
like im very happy with jeff, and i think he's fine as is - brilliant, even, bc hes a genuinely refreshing take imo as opposed to what they could have easily done (i.e unlikable, distant from it all husband). not that he would be CRAZY or unreasonable to resent shauna, but like... its just fucking so much funnier + more interesting to me to see a character kind of just go with it, rather than to have them stew in angst. like i think its more interesting and allows for them to explore different beats than what you'd assume they would if you'd just known the basics of what shauna was up to. imo
similarly i was happy with adam as a character, too, and i think they developed him well enough for who he was and how he functions in this story. im glad he didnt turn out to be javi (if he was, i guess, bc he still could be technically that kinda suck wway more now tbh booo) and whilst there was nooo way he was gonna survive if he was just some guy which he was
theres also guys like kevyn. my jokes aside abt how scary he is im kinda fine with him, and i do actually makes some kinda sense that hes a cop + that he's now so straight-laced. some loser divorced dad. and it'd be a good comparison to natalie, and the lifestyle she lives now and how their paths diverged. however i kind of wish they'd... just let him go? like i wish he'd been at the reunion, and they'dhad that exchanged and then he'd just walked away to his wife and kids and her back to the yellowjackets no return no return no return huh what was that YEHA. my point is. i feel like there's no true resolution between them two thats organic and it just kinda feels weird to keep him around past that. i know they need a cop character for whats happening with shauna now but it just feels kinda ... bizarre to have him playing that role with that creep dude. bc whilst i do prefer limited characters in a show like this and to keep it tight and clean it just feels weird for it to be him and for it to be THAT insular AND, again, for him to keep sticking around when i dont feel like theres anywhere for him to go.... like its kinda DIFFERENT with the other cop dude, bc he isnt pre-established and he does kinda just function moreso as just. a fucking yuckhead fuckhead but instead its just this weird uhhhh. and kevyn is back! um. he will continue serving this purpose and we will never touch on him and natalie again. bc we shouldnt ofc but it also feels weird to have him there without ever mentioning it LOL
who else. fuck. like i am also very conflicted abt tai's wife and son like.... they do just feel a bit like- theyre just there? and i think that DEFINITELY makes some sort of narrative sense with tai, and with her whole deal- she has it all, she has everything but she has nothinnggg but... IDK KINDA SAD MAN. bc its weird i'll go back to this with jeff and callie, but it does make SENSE that the non-yellowjackets characters are always gonna be secondary with the story theyre telling in more ways than them just being secondary characters but with how fucking impossible it is to reconnect with fucking ANYONE after everything they did/went through BUT ITS LIKE... like i said i kinda like jeff and ironically his absolute lack of personality became a personality, whereas with simone&sammy i feel like theyre just kinda... SUPER functioning and that does kinda make me worry because whilst i know a lot of ppl are yelling for tai/van endgame... i dont know it feels weird to write them off fuckin completely which is what i feel like the show might kinda lean into at some point...😭like i want more for them, and from them. and i also sorry i also hate fucking "scary child who sees the supernatural" trope SORRYYYY its so tired to me and so lazy . give this kid some proper fucking development
and i think its also another issue im having with the present day stuff. theres too many characters rn and its being misspent. like do not get me wrong im not against quirky elijah wood BUT i feel like misty's ENTIRE. FUCKING. ARC. RIGHT. NOW. would be so much more fucking effective if she was alone and tracking down natalie by herself and kinda struggling with that. OR if they kept up her rapport with jessica- like have her tag along, whether it'd be under the guise of a fixer or not, and maybe have her cause some tension bc again if eel like.. ITS SO MUCH WEIRDER just having jessica's entire stint just come to an end in the way it did and it would have been a much more solid throughline into s2 than to bring in elijah wood whos just genderbent misty and its like . ok its just nott.... INTERESTING TO ME... SO WHAT. SHES FOUND A GUY LIKE HER? WHO CARES MAN. IM SAYING THIS AS A LITTLE FREAK WHO CANT CONNECT WITH OTHERS & YEARNS FOR KINSHIP, LIKE... I JUST FEEL LIKE ITS KINDA BACKWARDS AND REGRESSIVE AND NOTHINGGGG. jessica was a much weirder fucking dynamic and i think could have been interesting and i do think theres ways they could have had them both pursue natalie but now its just... ehhhhhh like

GO AWAY DUUDE. have confidence in misty to be able to CARRY this shit, cmon, bc no offence elijah but SHE WAS WAY BETTER AT IT! bc thats whats so GOOD ABOUT THE SHOW OTHERWISE- you have the confidence to let all these girlies to carry their plotlines by themselves, so dont slip!!! I FEEL LIKE THERES SO MUCH MORE THEY COULD DO WITH THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SHAUNA/CALLIE IF THEY PUSHED FOR IT MORE, BUT ITS JUST... again its in this such an awkwwaarddd position where they only bring her in to be difficult it feels like. and the thing is? shes being reasonable. MORE than. shes totally justified in all the shit shes doing. but bc of the unfortunate way its framed she comes off as...... sadly.... unlikable which . again AGAIN IT SUCKS. BECAUSE SHES A TEENAGE GIRL AND THIS FEELS LIKE THE FIRST SHOW IN A LONG TIME TO HAVE A CAST FULL OF UNLIKABLE FUCKING TEENAGE GIRLS BE THE BEST EVERRRRRR AND SHE COULD BE SO GOOD MAN SHE COULD BE SUCH A GOOD WAY FOR SHAUNA TO LOOK INTO THE PAST BUTEE..... they kinda just write her off too and bring her up to cause complications obly. thats all it is. and i dont know i do get it i dooo get it bc again it makes SENSE with shauna and who she is and where her life is that the presentation would thereforebe kinda more her perspective but also... i do just feel... ITCHES. LIKE IM CLAWING AT THE WALL
ok last thing maybe idk. idk how i feel about lottie at all. its strange. i felt like she..... was kinda not present enough in s1. does that make sense ever at all. i wish we had more from her and her whole visions thing, and she had as much focus in the past as the others did from the very beginning. bc i feel like in s1... we didnt see enough of her in that regard? like we got her- we got bits of her. but not enough of her-her. bc im fine with her kinda story on paper (ish) and how its playing out but i t does feel weirdly unba;anced across s1 / s2. and its throwing me a bit there

Formerly Titled "The Chicken and The Snake"

For all intents and purposes, Kyoko Mogami was a chicken.
Which wasn’t to say that she was a literal chicken--though depending on who you asked--perhaps she was. She was as much of a girl as any other girl on the planet, but when she was born, the fates had looked at her soul and decided: chicken. And, so, her skin was marked with the elegant swoop of a hen.
Sho hated his animal soul. He had been marked with the diminutive mark of a chihuahua. He always said that he could have had any other dog, and of course, he got the least threatening of them all.
He never told people about his soul-kin, opted to wear long sleeves to cover every inch of his skin, and instead saved all his money from a young age for tattoos. Every lie, every joke he made about the animals that shared his soul, he tattooed across his skin until he was an everyday menagerie. The only people who knew the truth were Kyoko and his family, and the earliest tattoo artists. Everybody else bought into the myth of the boy with a hundred souls. In any case, it made for a hell of a stage persona.
When Kyoko moved with Sho to Tokyo, she realized a lot of people were like him. Hiding their soul-kin. With other tattoos. Well-placed scarves and clothing choices. Though it wasn’t always out of shame. A lot of the times it was always out of some sort of ill-placed prejudice. Tokyo, she found, was a lot louder about the prejudices associated with the soul tattoos.
She saw a lot of people turned away from jobs because the managers didn’t want to deal with certain animals. Kyoko knew she was lucky because a chicken was at least neutral to most people. She was a dedicated worker. Occasionally loud. But reliable to get her job done. It was easy for her to secure the jobs she needed to support her and Sho through their move.
Unlike Kyoko, Sho remained jobless until he secured his manager and contract. Because if Tokyo was prejudiced against certain animals, it wasn’t kind to those who tried to hide, either. Nobody in the city knew which of Sho’s tattoos were real, which ones they could trust. So, they didn’t trust him at all. Not that this bothered Sho.
He thought of the whole situation as some sort of elaborate game and let it fuel his songwriting. Which eventually turned into his first single. “Trust,” he called it.
Ironic, given Kyoko learned with the release of the album that single was on that Sho Fuwa could not be trusted at all. Sho was cheating on her--though in the end, maybe it wasn’t cheating if they weren’t technically dating, so much as roommates with history--and Kyoko remembered that Sho’s bravado was just that. Bravado.

I'm gonna try to do a better job of documenting my progress on IEMs, I made a pair of headphones last year and wasn't organized enough with it lol so here we go
DIY IEM progress!
I'll tag future progress as #iem to keep track
Let's start with some definitions!
Frequency response:
Frequency response is a headphone/speaker/IEM's ability to produce certain frequencies, displayed in a frequency response graph:
The X axis is the sound frequency in hertz, the Y axis is the volume in decibels. The higher it is at each point, the louder that part of the sound is. For speakers, ideally, you want everything to be perfectly flat, no part of the music louder than any other part, but for headphones and IEMs the shape and sensitivity in the ear means you want it to be louder in the subbass(20-400ish Hz) which gives you that nice rumble when bass hits and the upper midrange/lower treble(1k-10k hz), which emphasizes higher vocals and percussion sounds like cymbals, bells etc. With the airpods max you can see there's a respectable bass boost, but the midrange isn't quite as high as the person who graphed them would like it to be, as shown by his "ideal" target response represented by the dotted line.
Differences in frequency response can help you predict how different headphones will sound, with peaks and valleys at different areas emphasizing different parts of the music. Here we have the upper midrange focused moondrop variations with a peak at 3 kHz and a noticeable downward slope in the bass creating a relaxed sound where the bass is noticeably separate from the rest of the music, compared to the punchy, bass-focused Sony Z1R with an uninterrupted subbass shelf and a valley in the upper midrange:
IEM:
IEM stands for In-ear monitor! These are different from earbuds in that they go directly in your ear and provide a seal.
Airpods are earbuds because they sit loosely in your ear
Airpods pro are IEMs because they have rubber tips that fit into your ear canal
Drivers:
A driver is the thing in a headphone/speaker/iem/whatever that makes the sound. The one you'll be most familiar with is the dynamic driver, where a coil is attached to a diaphragm that gets moved by a magnet behind it. There's other kinds like planar magnetic drivers, balanced armatures, and electrostatic drivers that give varying levels of detail in exchange for different timbre, punch, clarity and other things that nobody can really define or measure so they just lump it all into one category called "technicalities". For this project I'm just going to be working with dynamic drivers because I do not want to deal with that shit! Please and thank you!
So what am I doing?
Now the fun part of IEMs compared to headphones is that there's lots more room to have multiple drivers! With headphones you're (usually) restricted to one driver playing the whole frequency range by itself. With IEMs, the components are small enough that you can start playing with crossover circuits, which can divide the range between multiple drivers, doing stuff like delegating the bass to one driver while another driver does the midrange and treble. Some iems can get obscenely complicated with their driver configurations, but for my purposes I'll be limiting myself to two dynamic drivers, one tweeter that plays the upper midrange/treble and a larger woofer that plays the lower midrange and bass
My concept, based on sony's Z1R iem, places the larger driver behind the smaller. Having one driver in front of the other acts as a low pass filter, and the amount of low-frequency sound that gets blocked out will depend on how large the opening above the smaller driver is.
The shell will be 3D printed resin(I'm hoping I can use my work's printer but if my boss says no I can outsource it like I did last time) and the drivers will be harvested from two cheap but very competent IEMs, the moondrop quarks and the 7Hertz Zero.
Both these iems are fairly balanced(the 7hertz certainly moreso than the quarks, I highly recommend them if you've never tried good IEMs), and that goofy looking peak at 3K makes me think placing the crossover frequency(the point where one driver starts and the other begins) at that point might be ideal.
They'll be coming in the mail soon, and I'll come back with an update when I've cut them open to harvest their parts!

In my canon, Shou deals w/ too many issues after Claw goes down, including but not limited tO:
- Legal baggage, court witnessing, interrogations, several meetings w/ government workers & sometimes even struggles to prove himself innocent. It plays into his luck that he's a minor.
- Housing & social issues, he gets assigned a social worker & has to sort out his life, protest against moving out from his home cuz he's not ready, and have his mother attend many hours of paperwork to properly become his legal guardian.
- School. SCHOOL. He hasn't received education in nearly 3 years, and would start middle school a few months after settling with his mother. ( which means he would be one year behind ). Very new & insane experience for him.
- The parts of Claw which hasn't given up yet and just pop into existence every few months, sometimes even going after him cause he's technically the reason they've lost everything. Most of the time they aren't much of a problem, they're mostly weak, or are they?
- Emotional baggage. Restlessness. CONFUSION. My guy has spent his whole life just grinding to beat up his dad and bring him to his senses. He grew up in a terrorist organization, he doesn't know how to just fucking LIVE. His whole purpose for living is gone & not only that but he failed MISERABLY at it. now what? NOW WHAT. The bad guys were defeated but by no means does he feel well like a good guy should feel.

i started to make a post abt this earlier and then scrapped it, but like, long and boring details aside, i guess really what i'm still thinking about is the way in which content warnings are, probably inevitably, sometimes so insufficient as to be actively worse than nothing—
like, okay, the specific thing i encountered this morning was a fuck-or-die sex pollen fic tagged as 'no archive warnings apply,' which is obviously, uh, debatable, given that the trope is kind of inherently dub-con at best, but the author had tagged for 'sex pollen' and 'fuck or die,' so i guess those individual tags do give readers a sufficient-if-not-generous heads-up that, like, here be dragons or whatever… but then i actually read the fic in question, bc while i feel neutral abt the trope i've often liked this author's work in the past, and like, the actual consent issue that fucked me up a little was that the sex pollen wasn't just an organic phenomenon or lab accident or whatever, as often, but rather deliberately inflicted on the leads, and not by yr run-of-the-mill Evil Experimenters/Torturers/what-have-you, but rather by… the narrator's ex's sisters, as payback for… his ex's having broken up with him???
which, fine, whatever, people sometimes do fucked up shit and you can certainly include that in a story; but the love interest's reaction to discovering this is just to be 'amused,' while the narrator is like, i'm just relieved my ex is still willing to talk to me! which again, fine, whatever, people do shrug off serious violations of their autonomy out of a desire to maintain social bonds, that also isn't unrealistic or unreasonable to portray in a fic; but that entire aspect of the situation got literally less than 2% of the fic's whole word count devoted to it, i guess because we're in Romance Land where the only thing allowed to have actual emotional weight is intra-relationship developments, and anything outside that context is just meaningless scaffolding, even if in real life it would be a pretty fucking big deal, and probably pretty traumatizing, to find out your ex's family had literally poisoned you???
anyway, sorry, i guess i couldn't restrain myself from going into excruciating detail after all, but tl;dr it's just like. it frankly made me feel much weirder to encounter that plot point in a context where other, more familiar dubcon tropes had been warned for, because it made me feel much more uncertain that the author actually recognized it was an issue! i'd have preferred it if they'd just slapped an 'author chose not to use archive warnings' on the whole thing!

reminds me of a fic that fucked me up much more a while back, where a character had consented to sex and consented, too, to poorly-defined punishment, but the form the punishment ended up taking was deliberately-careless penetration that caused the character pain on purpose, and neither the character nor i were braced for that, and while i guess you maybe couldn't say it needed a noncon label, because technically both sex and punishment had been agreed to, it definitely was like. while you-the-author may technically have your bases covered here in a legalistic way, this was definitely a pretty deliberate bait-and-switch that was triggering both for the character it happened to and for me! and like. was it effective as a reading experience? honestly, yeah! i got an emotional journey out of it that really mirrored the character's—method reading, if you will. but do i still resent that author for it, literal years later? also yeah.
anyway i guess basically the thing is like. i'd much rather know i'm venturing into unknown territory and be on my metaphorical toes, than have situations like the above where like, everything is supposedly safely tagged, but the author's standards for that aren't the same as yours, and then something slides between the cracks to sting you?? like, i'm (hopefully obviously) not opposed to content warnings, and do typically provide them on this blog, but there's an extent to which it's like. a guardrail that gets dislodged when you put any actual weight on it is more dangerous, actually, than a wholly unfenced drop…

I feel like DAI and more specifically having the Inquisitor be the Inquisitor would've been a lot stronger if Bioware had really leaned into the fact that you don't actually have a choice in being there to begin with and that at the beginning of the game a Quiz who isn't happy about this is all but outright threatened into serving the Inquisition's interests (the advisors pretty much openly say that if you refuse to help them they'll just let the Chantry murder you). There are a couple points where Quiz can vaguely mention that there is no other option for them, they're with the Inquisition whether they like it or not, but it feels like the game is really uncomfortable with actually acknowledging it. I don't know, I feel like the story would be stronger if it went more into how the Chantry and Chantry-affiliated organizations (like the Inquisition; they can say they're not with the Chantry all they like, but when the four initial leaders include the Right and Left Hands of the Divine and a former Templar Knight-Captain who's only not one anymore because he got cold feet at the idea of killing a human noble and they were supposed to be a Chantry organization before the whole "heretical claims about Andraste having a herald" thing that claim rings a little hollow) will straight up force people they have power over to prop them up whether they want to or not. Especially with the reveal that the previous Inquisitor was a Dalish mage (potentially just like the current one) and that got covered up because admitting that the last Inquisitor was about as far from the Chantry ideal as possible would be inconvenient. And this barely gets acknowledged! You would think a non-human noble Quiz would have some rather pressing issues with this reveal!
I don't know, I just feel like the game admitting that yes, you are supposed to be a good little technically-not-Chantry puppet would've been stronger than "oh yeah, you're totally in charge, do what you like"? Since the implication is already there and all. It could also have been used to make the inner circle feel more like friends than coworkers, with them acting as your personal support in taking control of the Inquisition in your own right rather than as a figurehead instead of basically just being your subordinates (notably this would also give recruiting Sera an actual purpose beyond "she's a companion, go get her"; the Red Jennies having a presence among the servants is a lot more useful if you aren't sure whether or not you can trust your spymaster to have your best interests at heart, after all). If you want to keep the advisors as friendly figures you could put some higher authority above them who's trying to keep the Inquisition to Chantry expectations or something. Also it could potentially lead to a crisis situation like at the end of DA2 where you could choose whether or not to properly split off from what the Chantry wants, with companions either sticking with you or turning on you based on what side you pick and other factors (probably not whether their approval's been maxed out since that's harder to deal with when you can't check your companions' approval (bring back the ability to check approval in DA4 please Bioware), but maybe personal quest shit).
Basically I just really wish the game a) acknowledged that an unwilling Quiz is getting royally screwed over all through this game regardless of the power and prestige that comes with the title because they don't want to be here and aren't allowed to leave and b) allowed for a schism within the Inquisition between what the Chantry expects and what the Inquisitor wants to do. The former because it's really annoying how it skirts around that and the latter... well, just because it would be fun, honestly.

Collaborative filtering works by collecting the likes and dislikes of many people on a collection of items (in this case, books). It then looks for books the other person has read and ranked highly which you haven’t read and recommends them to you. In this case, relationship marketing allows an individual to gain exposure to a product that suits his individual needs that he would otherwise not have known existed. Relationship marketing allows customers to receive relevant Information: An effective Relationship Marketing program provides customers with sufficient information to empower them to make correct purchase decisions. A very good example can be seen on the various on-line airline booking services. When a customer signs on with these on-line services and tries to book a flight, most of them provide the customers with a variety of choices that are in most cases sufficient to allow the traveler to make an appropriate travel plan. The most important thing about this system is that it allows the traveler instant comparative information which enables him to minimize transaction time, and in many cases maximize savings.
RELATIONSHIP MARKETING AND PERFORMANCE OF COMMERCIAL BANKS
All relationship marketing activities are ultimately evaluated on the basis of the company’s overall performance. However, as a firm’s profitability is influenced by a number of variables largely independent of relationship marketing activities that may include leadership style, capital base and technological know-how, it seems appropriate to conceptualize relationship marketing outcomes on a more concrete level when investigating possible antecedents. chapter 3 of help me live again
On Monday, Lucas drives Max to work. They talk the whole time, just catching up on everything they missed. It feels right.
As Max grabs her bag and gets out of the car, Lucas tugs on her arm. “Wait.”
Max turns around. “What?”
Lucas pulls her in and kisses her softly. “That’s all. Have a good day.”
Max walks into the bookstore giddy. For a while, it didn’t feel like she even had a boyfriend, but now, everything is perfect.
But when she walks into the shop, Dory is sitting behind the counter, head in her hands, sobbing.
Max drops her bag and runs over to her. “Dory! What’s wrong?”
Dory sniffles and shakes her head. “It’s nothing. Don’t worry, hon.”
Max obviously doesn’t believe her, but she knows she shouldn’t pry. If Dory wants to talk about whatever’s making her cry like this, she will.
“Okay.” Max grabs her bag and walks to the back room. Technically, her shift today is working the register, but she felt like it’d be awkward to just stand there while Dory is upset, so now she's wandering around the store room, looking for a way to procrastinate going back to the front.
She does not succeed, but she sees Dory walking past the store room door, wiping at her eyes, so she takes the chance to go back to the register. She sets her bag down and pulls out the notebook she uses to track the sales she makes. Having this notebook helps her stay organized, and being able to see all the work she did that day gives her a sense of purpose she didn’t know she needed.
However, business today is slow, giving her plenty of time to dwell on what had Dory so upset.
Maybe it wasn’t one specific thing. Maybe she just broke down. Max understood that all too well—for the past few years, the weight of the trauma, the anxiety, the memories sometimes all came crashing down on her at random times and she couldn’t help but fall apart. It’s been better lately, but from time to time, she still feels it. She still feels the pain that lingers, refusing to let her live in peace.
But she doesn’t want to feel like that anymore. She won’t let herself feel like that anymore.
There are no incoming customers, so Max heads to find Dory. She isn’t in the store room or her tiny office. She finally finds her among the bookshelves, mindlessly reorganizing the A-through-D shelf in the mystery section. She sniffles every few seconds
“Dory?” Max says.
Dory looks up, clearly startled. “Oh, hi, Max. Do you need something?”
Max shakes her head “No. I just wanted to let you know… if you want to talk about anything, I can listen. But if you don’t want to talk about whatever is bothering you, I completely get it. Just want you to know that.”
Dory’s face softens and her eyes fill with tears. “Oh, thank you, hon,” she says, wiping her cheeks. “It’s nothing, really, just… I had a fight with my daughter.”
“You have a daughter?” Max asked, surprised. Dory had never mentioned having children, or even a spouse.
Dory nodded, a wistful smile coming over her face. “Yes, I do. Lillian. She’s… twenty-seven now.” She sighs. “We’ve never gotten along that well. She had more in common with her dad, but when it came to personality, we were very similar. Too similar.”
Max gets that. She and her mom both have very big, outgoing personalities, and they used to clash often because of it.
“Does she live here?” Max asks.
“No, she moved to Florida for college and stayed when she found the love of her life.” From her tone, Max suspects Dory isn’t a fan of this love.
Dory sighs again. “Oh, well, I don’t need to bother you with my problems. It’s really no big deal.”
It seems like it is to Dory, but Max knows not to try to dig any further. Dory opened up a lot to Max, and that was nice—it’s good to know Dory trusted her after only knowing her for a week or so.
That evening, when Steve drops her off at her trailer, her mom’s car is parked outside it. It’s been a while since they’ve been able to talk, so—especially after talking to Dory today—Max plans to walk in and try to initiate a nice conversation.
But when she pushes open the door, fumes of cigarettes and alcoholic drinks engulf her.

The Department of Purgatory
There is this fanfiction crossover - technically a multicrossover if you look hard enough - that I have been making between Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss, and Metro Exodus with the events taking place after Artyom meets his doomed fate in Novosibirsk while trying to rescue his wife. Of all the ideas that I came up with, I decided to create my own depiction of how Heaven operates in comparison to the chaotic mess that is Hell. One of these ideas involves the depiction of how mortal humans are processed after death and it is a culmination of inspiration from various sources namely TheTroxa's artworks of Rafael blessing Charlie's hotel, ExplosmEntertainment's Purgatony's compilations, and the game Have a Nice Death.
Now there is more to this than just a simple organization whose job is to process souls between Heaven and Hell. The person who is in charge of the whole show is none other than Death himself and his depiction is more or less the protagonist from Have a Nice Death. Yet, he occasionally returns to his original form when dealing with his fellow archangels and Lucifer himself. This very individual surrounds himself with an army of office workers who read through the very lives of sinners and saved - people who have minimized their sins at best or done much on behalf of their fellow human beings with genuine purpose in life. No page is left unturned, no second of human life is left unchecked, and no privacy is given in the eyes of the department. Here in Purgatory, they judge who is deserving of their eternal paradise or punishment.
While there are those who are part of Heaven's ranks may perform these duties, it is entirely staffed by the saved population. Now to fit this with Vivzie's depictions of the afterlife, I decided to include some human elements like accidental clerical errors which leads to some interesting moments where a sinner gets sent to Heaven and saved into Hell. When you have an organization with an endless number of bureaucratic workers, Death can't oversee every single problem so this would involve a subsection of the department whose job is to sort out these problems before they devolve into a far worse situation. I call these guys the Purgatory Investigators but the name shouldn't fool you since it's less like detective work and more akin to special forces infiltration. The whole concept of these investigators is that they are specifically organized to either find out where the sinner is living in Heaven or infiltrate the society of Hell to bring the souls to where they should be. The former is relatively easy since sinners have their habits and personalities that make them stand out from the crowd; however, the latter is a completely different affair with investigators forming safe houses all across the Realm of Hell to operate and maintain the deception that no one in Heaven cares what goes on in Hell.
There is another subsection of the department that I like to refer to as Purge squads/units with their entire idea being that they are trained to take no prisoners, leave no witnesses attitude. Sometimes a sinner is deemed too dangerous to the saved to be left alive or outright refuses to be sent to Hell after seeing what Heaven is. They are a heavy-handed approach that is akin to an average day in Door Kickers 2 and Ready or Not. They are also used in case someone in Hell was actively seeking out the investigators and discover their true identity, causing an immediate response to terminate their existence with extreme prejudice. It is an unfortunate way of life but that is how the Department of Purgatory treats those who try to interfere with their affairs. Now there are those who are on their radar but haven't justified a response for Death to personally tackle them - Blitzo should count himself lucky that no one is after him... yet.
I also went through the added effort of making the Department of Purgatory have this habit of finding skilled and deceased individuals across various different universes and timelines so I could justify why certain characters get involved. For one example, Death's second-in-command is the male Courier from Fallout New Vegas while some of the coworkers of the protagonist in my fanfic are more or less shoutouts to various franchises because I like their characters and settings to justify some acknowledgment. This could be V from Cyberpunk 2077 or Richard Sharpe from the television show acted by someone who dies a lot.
