im all for making fun of and criticizing the way booktok (and booktube) aestheticize reading to an insane degree, making it more about being percieved as a reader more than like. actually reading. but some people on here lump the most normal things ever into the booktok consumerism pile?

like yes, booktok/tube places a lot of emphasis on the visuals of "reading", but then someone on here just went and said that simply "not wanting to damage your books" is a stupid booktok thing??? what? it's not vain or pretentious to care about your posessions, especially if they mean a lot to you. simply wanting your books to remain in good condition is not the same as having 100 unread books, or five editions of the same book, or books you hated, purely because they look nice.

and someone else said that having a yearly reading goal was also a stupid booktok/tube thing? since when? i've met people who set themselves yearly reading goals before youtube even existed. it's literally just a new years resolution, but tailored to a specific hobby?

#911 lone star #repeat after me #owen is not the main character because this is an ensemble show #i mean as a general rule you really should stay out of people's inboxes to bitch at them about something you know they don't agree with #but also people are allowed to call out the show for trying to get clout for diversity and then making it the owen strand show #and not even the 'owen strand is sooo good at being fire captain' show which would at least get us firecrew scenes!#it's now the 'owen does anything BUT fire captain because that's basically like sitting on the bench' show #which is a shame because there are a billion police/fbi procedurals i could watch if i wanted to #but i don't i want the found family hopeful wholesome 911-verse #and when owen IS being captain or being dad to TK or one of the team or a friend for the other captains his scenes are so good!!#i love those scenes and they give us more content for the other ensemble characters #and THAT is a lot of the complaint about the screetime is that it's majorly going to one character doing outside stuff #so not only is it not centered on the other characters but they don't even hardly get to be involved!#ANWAY #don't mind me just tired of hearing people say no one can be mad because owen is the main character #if this was a show with 2 mains and a handful of supporting characters or the show was named after owen in some way i'd get it #but literally he isn't the main character and that is why people are upset

i had a dream the limbus crew had to go get info on a new distortion that popped up in a romani village in some corner of the backstreets and they had to go stealth, couldnt just fight their way to the distortion for some reason; they had to fit in. and since gregor is the last sinner, n13, he got last pick for outfits and he had to go in this. his mantits were out.

oh, it's not that exciting, it's actualy awful. i mentioned it towards the tail end of chapter five of rm. it's basically what cartman used to call kyle when they were growing up. a really cruel fucked up nickname.

the sp boys used to be fucking horrible to kyle because cartman ruled their elementary/middle school. and when cartman and the boys saw kyle in the hallway they were like "what are you doing here, broflovski? trash day's tomorrow" or omg whenever he walked ANYWHERE they made the "Beep! Beep! Beep!" trash truck noises, but worst of all was that they used to dump out...Full Trashcans On Him. like spoiled milk, rotted food stuffs, glass bottles that werent put in recycling, crushed aluminum cans that cut his cheeks, all kinds of awful, foul smelling sludge...sigh. :/ ily so much baby jersey.

also, if you want to cry extra hard, i think that being covered in all that disgusting lunchroom trash, feeling it soak thru his shirt, stink down to the skin, pool around his shoes, get buried in his hair -- just feeling that dirty and disgusting and Unclean was one of the factors that made his ocd so severe and it's a large part as to why he takes scorching showers and rubs his skin raw bc especially if he smells something weird or its trash day, he gets triggered & has to SCRUB.

but anygays! you bet your ass that tiny lil stan was giving them ALL the business rippin around on his bike brandishing his hockey stick like a big sword, running them out of town and back to their mommas crying and screaming bloody murder all in that giant wayne gretsky *ravenstan vc* yersey...they were SCARED, lolllll!!!

which is a very interesting juxtaposition to sweet, gentle stan very lovingly picking all the food debris out of his kyles beautiful curly whirly hair before marching him over to the bathroom where while kyle showers, stan always sits on the toliet bc their running joke is that kyle might drown ( yes yersey also can't swim ) while stan listens to rock n colors his nails in w/ sharpie or stolen nail polish from shell.

Honestly growing up is realizing that normal people don’t have to set timers to remember they’re cooking ramen… which notoriously only takes 3 minutes to cook… and maybe I do have adhd

#Trying to explain to my sister in law that I sometimes accidentally set a microwave time to 1 minute when I mean for it to be 20 seconds #and I go ‘oh it’s fine I will just stop it at 20 seconds’#but then in those 20 seconds /I then forget I’m cooking something/#bc my attention is drawn away #and next thing I know I’ve got a cookie that’s literally on fire in the center #and the way this is such a common thing for me #(not necessary w a cookie lol. I understand merch is expensive, she is an artist, all artist merch is expensive but I feel people complain about Taylor’s more than others.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I do think it’s expensive and the quality varies widely BUT I also think it’s market price and quality. I agree that other artists have similarly priced merch and it’s not always great quality. There’s definitely a trend of calling Taylor a capitalist and connecting everything back to that, as if she doesn’t profit off her very own handmade art. Now, UMG is profiting off someone else’s art, but they have her permission to do so. I think that overall, UMG’s merch department is not run well and is not fan-focused which is difficult for us because we are so accustomed to Taylor putting the fans first always. I will say that UMG has changed their return policy from the Lover days so now you can return something just because you don’t like it at no charge. You used to have to pay for return shipping which often was 10-20% of the item price, so you would end up paying like $15 and have no item to show for it. I also think the designs have improved. The quality is definitely hit or miss in my experience, but the return policy and ease of canceling items before they ship has improved my experience. But the prices are comparable to other companies/artists/etc from what I’ve seen.

#everything is just really expensive now #take your complaints to the federal reserve!#lol but really i feel like we focus on the wrong people for these things #and there’s also the factor that people like to complain online #and feel like complaining gets them clout or bonds them with others #it’s always easier to bond over negativity #i think it’s also noticeable with taylor because she realease so much and has so much going on now #that there are more merch collections than ever #so it FEELS more expensive too because we all want things from every album and the tour etc etc #that’s not a criticism but just another factor in why we feel this way #plus the whole resale market factor which I won’t even get into #ok hope that helped!!! lol

Everything from "Books 60+ Authorship Debate" to "Similarities to the Winchester Brother Killings" to "Hellhoundslair.com Libel Suit" to "Disappearance of Chuck Shurley" to "Unsolved Murder at 2009 Convention" to probably more that I'm forgetting or that Sam and Dean never learned about
