Statement of Subway Master Emmet, regarding the thing that was not his brother. March 8th 2XXX. Statement begins.

Emmet: “It’s not your fault.” Everyone says that. That is hard to believe, when it was my brother. It is not Ingo. Never Ingo. It took him away from me. All my memories, tainted by that thing. It makes me sick. Clear bile up my throat. Burning. Grieving. But at that time, it was all I had.

Emmet: Sometimes I wonder. If Skyla and Elesa hadn’t saved me, would I have joined it?

Emmet: ... Nevermind, that’s stupid. It would have turned me into a doll or something. (He laughs. It’s soft, cold and off-putting.) Jokes on it. It’s dead and I’m alive. The end, bye.

?: Hold on, may I ask a few more questions–?

(Sounds of cloth moving and a chair screeching on the floor. Hurried footsteps. A pause.)

Emmet: No.

(The door slams shut.)

HISUI PMD AU

So I’ve been going through a bit of another rough period lately and have turned back to my DS system, one of the few gaming consoles that doesn’t seem to terribly hurt my hand (yay!!)

I picked up PMD Sky again, and seeing as I had reset my file at some point but didn’t make a new one, I inserted Ingo and Akari into it — Cyndaquil for Ingo (hero), and Eevee for Akari (partner)!

I think it’s very fitting since Hero character has total amnesia except for remembering their name, and Partner character is someone with an outgoing personality who’s just joining a guild.

I’ve been getting really attached to it, and so I’ve been thinking about a little AU with some adjustments to it. Hence these doodles I’ve been working on for the last few days (mostly warmups/practice to try and tighten linework with my non-dominant hand, so no hatching or handwritten words for this one ^^;).

I may develop more to this. It’s been so so fun!!

Ingo’s fighting very hard to retire from Wardenship after seeing a whole train fall from the sky and land on the other side of Hisui. Unfortunately, this is a track he can not disembark until either him or Sneasler become permanently indisposed.

He’s also doing great! Don’t worry about it!

"Are you waiting on a train?"

Some context for the image under the cut:

It was common for Pokemon and items to slip through the space-time distortions. What made this occasion memorable was that an entire train station platform slipped through during the night.

Akari went to investigate when she heard the report. Despite it being early in the morning, she wasn't the first one to arrive. Ingo was there, sitting on a bench, deep in thought.

"Hey, Ingo," Akari greeted as she sat down beside him, cradling her sleeping Rowlet, "Are you waiting on a train?"

"Good morning, Miss Akari," Ingo said, blinking as if waking from a dream. "I'm afraid no trains will be coming into the station today. The tracks stop after a point, uncoupling this station from its sister stop."

"Maybe they'll be reconnected one day? After we sort out this whole space-time distortion stuff."

"That would be the most favorable outcome, yes."

Ingo relapsed into his thoughts, a shadow cast over him. A hush fell over the trio.

When the sun rose far enough into the sky to burn away some of the fog hanging around the station, Ingo finally stood up and readjusted his worn out hat.

"Let's prepare for departure, Miss Akari! It's an excellent day to make tracks in your journey."

"Yes, let's!" Akari sprang up, eager to start the day.
