Female crane fly (family Tipulidae) laying eggs. I knew some species lay eggs in soil, but wasn’t expecting it to look this silly 😆

While most crane fly adults don’t feed (they’re not giant mosquitoes!), most larvae eat dead plant matter. Larvae are an important part of the soil ecosystem because they convert organic matter into nutrients that plants and other life forms can use. Crane flys are also an important food source at all stages of their life for everything from spiders to song birds.

lord of the flies gotta be my favorite classic literature and also one of the most widely misinterpreted pieces of literature in history. no that book is not about how man's savage desire for blood lies just beneath the surface and it is not about how all humans are inherently evil. it's about how the education system (specifically british) fails our children and how boys in our society are bred and raised to be violent and romanticize warfare. it's about how society takes happy innocent children and turns them into monsters. it's also an allegory for growing up--- being suddenly thrown into a world with no grown-ups to look out for you, where you're allowed to be a kid anymore. it's about losing your innocence. get your nihilism out of my face

I will scream this into the void until I die. Yes, she is a kid, and yes, she has anger issues. But she has had and continues to have all of the resources available to her. Give her the benefit of the doubt as much as you want, but as we saw in season one, sometimes teenagers are just angry jerks. She makes a compelling character because she really is the worst of high school. The kind of kid who doesn't try gets everything and still wants what you have. That's fucked up.

She has a good family, she has success in the palm of her hand. She is actively choosing not to help herself. And it pissed me off.

Kipperlilly Copperkettle is a jersey. She is a bully. And I agree she could be reformed. But at this state? She is killing other students and is wanting plenty of them dead.

She outright got Kristen expelled and has been hating on Riz since Freshman Year for... what? Because his dad is dead? That's bullshit. It's ignorant, and it's entitled. Feel bad for her. But at the end of the day, her viewpoint is just that of an entitled bully. She is jealous because she lacks the empathy to understand the hardships of what she views as advantages.

And may I remind everyone that other high schoolers have been the villains in seasons past. (Biz, Penelope, Dayne, even Raugh and Aelwyn) people do deserve hands, and they do deserve a second chance. But at the end of the day? If someone continues to be a jerk when given resources then they're going to keep being a jerk.

Thinking about when I climbed a big boulder at the end of the day to wait for my crew boss to turn up with the bus and found a perfect snowshoe hare foot just loose up there. ooOOGUH don’t worry about asking this question! it’s been a LONG while since i’ve answered it and i’m always happy to answer it again!

i ship mauram because when i came into the fandom, the only maurice ship was roger x maurice. and i was already a diehard rogermon fan and i really didn’t like the vibes of rogice, so i was like no i won’t be shipping that 😭😭😭! i ended up settling on maurice x one of the twins because of the naturally joking nature the fandom assigned to them and i narrowed it down to sam because he was the sweeter twin in my mind. it kind of was like i wanted a lotf relationship that wasn’t entirely toxic like a majority of them are, so i made my OWN HAIBAOAJSI! and then i figured out that @maurice-memes (a god, btw) shipped them tOO and we kind of created a fanbase for them from there?

all in all, i wanted some lotf characters to have someone that would be happy and healthy as a ship and i desperately wanted to ship maurice with someone, but didn’t like his current standings and the twins were fair game!
