This was really hard for me because I haven’t seen Bates motel in about 3-4 years and I tried to write these with the best of my memory so it may be a tad bit fanon more than canon! First Ever Ship

Favourite movies: Smilin' Through (1932), The Batman (2022), Scandal Sheet (1952), The Big Combo (1955), Rebecca (1940) 2. Decent movies I liked / appreciated but not loved: Woman in Hiding (1950), Lost Horizon (1937), The Thrill of it All (1963), The Blob (1988), Sleepy Hallow (1999) 3. Best scenes: the flashbacks (Smilin' Through, 1932); the car chase / Bruce and Alfred at the hospital / goodbye between Batman and Catwoman (The Batman, 2022); the final shootout / at the opera (The Big Combo, 1955); the final boss battle (Uncharted, 2022); explaining what happened to the builders in The Thrill of It All (1963); confronting Maxim (Rebecca, 1940). 4. Favourite genres: romance, drama, fantasy, noir. 5. Favourite directors: Matt Reeves (The Batman, 2022); Joseph H. Tom Bateman, Annette Bening, Kenneth Branaugh, Russel Brand (random...), Letitia Wright, Emma Mackey, Armie Hammer, Gal Gadot, Rose Leslie, Ali Fazal, Rosie Dwyer. 9. The best wasted premise: Repeat Performance (1947). It's one of the films with the most wasted potential, and all due to an endless series of stupid decisions. Had the protagonist been smarter and less melodramatic, the film would have been a gem. 10. Best premise: The Big Combo (1955); The Batman (2022); Rebecca (1940); Sleepy Hallow (1999). 11. Favourite cast: The Batman (2022). Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, John Turturro, Andy Serkis, Peter Sarsgaard. On a smaller scale, it's Smilin' Through (1932) with Norma Shearer, Leslie Howard and Fredric March (a small three-man gem of a film) and The Big Combo (1955) with Cornel Wilde, Richard Conte and Jean Wallace. I'm just finding out how amazing Richard Conte was as an actor and it's glorious! 12. Favourite on-screen duos: Norma Shearer x Leslie Howard / Norma Shearer x Fredric March (Smilin' Through, 1932); Robert Pattinson x Andy Serkis / Robert Pattinson x Zoe Kravitz (The Batman, 2022); Doris Day x James Garner (Move Over, Darling, 1963; The Thrill of It All, 1963); Cornel Wilde x Richard Conte x Jean Wallace (in any combination) (The Big Combo, 1955); Joan Fontaine x Laurence Olivier (Rebecca, 1940). 13. Favourite on-screen relationships: Batman + Catwoman (The Batman, 2022). They do them so much justice in this film that there's barely any competition. Lt. Leonard Diamond + Susan Lowell / Mr. Brown + Susan Lowell (The Big Combo, 1955). Both relationships are more than a little dysfunctional but so fascinating to watch! Steve McCleary + Julie Allison (Scandal Sheet, 1952). It's fun and easy to follow, and a bit cheeky. Moonyeen + Sir John Carteret (Smilin' Through, 1932). I liked Fredric March in the film, too, but it's obviously about the undying love between these two that makes the film as touching as it is). Maxim de Winter + Mrs. de Winter (Rebecca, 1940). 14. Favourite characters: Batman, Catwoman, Alfred, The Riddler (The Batman, 2022); Lt. Leonard Diamond, Susan Lowell, Mr. Brown (The Big Combo, 1955); Steve McCleary, Julie Allison, Mark Chapman (Scandal Sheet, 1952); Deborah Chandler Clark (Woman in Hiding, 1950); Maxim de Winter, Mrs. de Winter (Rebecca, 1940). 15. Favourite quote: Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again. (Rebecca, 1940). 16. Favourite fact discovered in 2022: Cornel Wilde and Jean Wallace were married when making The Big Combo (1955) and Ida Lupino was married to Howard Duff when he played her abusive conniving husband in Woman in Hiding (1950). I've also just found out the director of photography for Rebecca (1940), George Barnes, was married to Joan Blondell between 1933 and 1936. That's random... 17. The most overrated film: I think every film is pretty deserving of the reputation it has really. 18. The most disappointing film: Repeat Performance (1947). Just because had they made some smarter decisions it would've been a classic, and a really unique classic at that. 19. The biggest surprise: The Big Combo (1955). It's very tense, seductive, maniacal and powerful film. I miss those. 20. Best cinematography: John Alton (The Big Combo, 1955). It's absolutely marvelous! Greig Fraser (The Batman, 2022); George Barnes (Rebecca, 1940); Emmanuel Lubezki (Sleepy Hallow, 1999). 21. Best set design: Rebecca (1940), The Batman (2022). 22. Best costume design: Irene (Rebecca, 1940); Don Loper (The Big Combo, 1955). 23. Best music: Rebecca (1940). 24. Best prooduction choice: casting Robert Pattinson in The Batman (2022) and Richard Conte in The Big Combo (1955); practical effects in The Blob (1988). 25. Worst production choice: the script in Repeat Performance (1947) and the uncomfortably revealing Death on the Nile (2022). 26. Film of the month: The Big Combo (1955) and Rebecca (1940).

rewatching bates motel 2x06

norman asking emma about his reaction after she jumped into the river and had trouble breathing is another example of why I love their friendship so much. ‘I lost it a bit, I hope I didn’t embarrass you.’ and 'did I overreact?’ and emma admits it was a bit scary to see him so upset but appreciated his reaction. yet again she tells him the truth, the truth about himself. because he clearly has problems to see himself, as we all know, because no one tells him enough, only little bits and stuff. I will repeat myself: he trust emma to tell him the truth and emma trusts him to handle the truth. this is so important I wanna punch something.

Request: "Can I ask for a dylan (bates motel) x reader story. Were she is in Norman's school and works weekends at the motel, she starts dating dylan but Norman becomes obsessed with her and spy's on them together. He tries to kill her when she finds out he's obsessed but Dylan saves her"

Walking up the 20 steps to get to another set of stairs you finally arrived at the front door of Dylan's Mom house. It was beautiful and super big, it kinda looked creepy sometimes but it was cool since it was far away from any neighbors. you knocked

You never thought you would be waiting for Dylan and going on a date with him. It was very unreal feeling. You met Dylan when you were working at the motel; Norma so kindly gave you. She knew you and Norman were friends and She knew you really needed it after your car accident that occurred during the summer. You only had the car for about 5 months!

So Dylan came in ::

Flashback

You were about to start cleaning so you could close up soon When you heard the door open. Smilling 'oh he's cute.' you thought.

"How may I help you today?"

"oh I'm um, is norma here ? "

"uh yeah she should be up in the house. I'll call her down."

"no need I'll just walk up"

"uh, not to be rude but who are you?"

"it's alright I'm her son. " he looked disgusted about that.

"oh okay, then go ahead."

"thank you" he looked at your name tag. Y/n Noted.

Dylan walked up the stairs thinking about the now new girl that caught his attention. But as he approached the door -he had to focus for the issue at hand.

End of flashback

"hey ready to go ? " Dylan asked.

"Yeah I'm ready" you smiled.

"you look great" he kissed you and you could see a figure standing through the door edge watching you.

"thanks... so do you. Let's go" you fake smile because it was either Norman or Norma starring at you and neither of those options made you feel any less better.

You guys were going to a small diner around town and later he was going to show you his new place. Nothing too fancy but it still made your heart skip that be wanting to hang with you. I mean that's usually what boyfriend's do but that's not how your last bf was. Especially towards the end.

Its a very complicated story. Basically you ran away because he started having stupid rough sex and using whips but it wasn't your thing and seriously ?? It hurt. There was no way out of it though because he was giving you, your medicine to help you alive. Hopefully he doesn't find you.

"hey are you okay?" Dylan snapped you back to reality.

"oh yeah sorry just thinking about how fun that was" he smiles.

"hey I wanted to ask you something. I know it might be a lot but I'm kind of worried about you."

You narrowed your eyes. "Yeah what's up"

"well since you kind of ran away I wanted to ask you for both of us feeling safer, if you wanted to move in with me."

"ohh. Wow"

"I know it's fast But we don't have to officially move in I have an extra room you can sleep in. "

"Yeah no it's just- I don't want you to feel like you have to protect me all the time. It's not your job. "

"I know I never said it was. I just really want to" .

"alright. Then yeah. Let's do this!" you kissed him hard, You were just so happy. He could be the one. He kissed down to your chin and then your ear lobe nibbling at it and pulling it a tiny bit. He sucked on your neck while you ran your fingers through his hair.

"wanna go wear in the new bed?" You laugh 😂 "hell yeah. Gotta make sure it's comfy" now it's his turn to laugh.

concept: lotta writes awful paranormal lesbian romance novels, and has a healthy rivalry with norma and emma (from ghost trick) and they regularly all hang out with each other to ""complain"" about each others writing (they all read each others work the minute its out) (and by complain i mean "ugh i cant believe x character did x my poor heart i hate you") and eventually they all just start dating. also emma gets back with her husband at some point but now she also has 2 gfs

also more lotta/norma/emma: the way they all started dating was that they started essentially writing bad fanfiction of each other. it started with putting in blatant inserts of each other in their stories but at some point it just became dramatized retellings of their lesbian adventures together. it went from “you wrote a story about wanting to kiss a woman who sounds suspiciously like me” to “zombie apocalypse lesbian road trip based (loosely) on real events”

Can Bates's motel season 2 be better?!

Ohmagawd! So season 2 is so much better than season 1!! I have only 2 episodes to end the 2nd season and im already mindblown by the mess that Norman did! I know we see the Psycho killer's early years, but gawd damn!! He kills everyone that tries to "hurt" his loved ones° or at least he tries to!!

Oh the blackouts storyline, the Cody hook up, the Dylans dad, Caleb, storyline, the Emma hook up w weed kid. Oh the relationship of Norman and Emma is so pure, Emma is the most loveable character I've ever seen in a tv series. The suspens has now reached its peak now w Romero knowing everything. Or at least Blaire's death. Him protecting Norma and Norman. Him loving Norma cause Norma and Romero is OTP next to Jatie from Containment. Can't wait to see the end!!

( Sorry, the weed back and forth vendetta is meh to me)
