You're the fnaf mutual so I'm going to overthink in your inbox for two seconds. The company in game and books is aware of the terrible past, and is using old code to speed up programming things (the mimic joke here) but what if they are using more of the old technology from the old fnaf pizza places? Wouldn't giving their main attractions actual souls make them more life like and relatable to the public? You can literally talk with Freddy Fazbear, he has a personality and everything, isn't that amazing kids give us your parents money. They certainly used certain parts of the funtime designs for the glamrocks, that ice-cream cake and pinata chest cavity wasn't originally designed for that purpose. The scooper apparently still exists, if it's the original one how much soul juice does it still have/had in it?
I like the idea of greedy corrupt company going into an area and not realizing the consequences because they are too busy looking at the money. Not knowing all of the fine details about everything, not realizing how dire the consequences could get, with money-making in the way to blind them further. I don't know if they're getting this detailed with the story though, I'm just throwing stuff at a wall
I'm very tired so if possible I'll try to add on in the morning but this is pretty tricky to answer bc we got a lot from HW2 but not the main answers we were looking for.
I'm pretty confident rn that none of the animatronics are haunted, just super advanced AI (as was suppose to be the case in Sl before Pizzeria Sim happened(?)) otherwise the mimic virus wouldn't have corrupted them, Freddy not being affected may just have been bad writing or safe mode just wiped it out of him somehow idk. Also they make it quite clear almost all the souls have moved on besides a few.
The only thing we don't know about is all the Nightmarionne imagery, possibly/most likely a ghost that just refused to move on bc they knew what the company was doing and wants them to suffer. Dying on your birthday at Freddy's is one thing, but fianlly killing your murderer only for the company to profit off your death is another. And than to top it off a random endoskeleton LEARNS about William and decided to become him? What a fucking nightma(ionne)!
"Listen guys you all rest I'll go take care of the shit fest that's happening over there, alright? I'll call you if we need to trap someone in the nightmare dimension again"
From how I look at it SL was the branching off point for the advanced AI. Baby was a very advanced AI and the literal ringleader of the operation, she would use Ballora and FT Foxy as lures/distractions while she killed the kids and got FT Freddy to help hide the mess. She was also keen on manipulation "faking" being Elizabeth to earn the nightguard's trust and sympathy so she can scoop out his insides and live inside of him till the body rotten so much they had to stop their collaborative roleplay server for being outdated and jump ship. With this ultimately leading to Baby being kicked out for abusing admin.
Also about the Glamrocks using the Funtime's design, I think this was done so the company could cover the fact their animatroncis were literally designed to kill kids. Like oh no no the Freddy hatch was just for cake! See??? Just a simple reuse of the design to deflect instead of actually being the same design itself. Baby's was easier to defend bc she also literally did use it to produce ice cream, I'm guessing the claw was turned into a hand in HW2 because Scott looked at that and went "okay thats a bit too obvious lemme tweak it a bit" or someone at SW suggested the changed and Scott said yes bc it makes more sense. Chica's voicebox may have also been a reuse of FT Foxy's and Ballora's lures but thats more of a stretch.
Pizzeria Sim is,,,something. Baby's characterization basically goes out the window and she fully claims to be Elizabeth. Now a lot of people just accepted Baby really is Elizbaeth (which is the canon answer but idc). While in SL that was ambiguous (bc she was a manipulative genius!) All that gets pushed aside in Pizzeria Sim. What I like to think is that after being kicked out of Ennard and being apart of it for so long she just kinda lost herself, who was she? She wasn't Baby anymore she lost herself, her look, the hold she had on those around, she was like a lost child in that moment...maybe she was a lost child? Maybe she really was Elizabeth this whole time? And in that moment of weakness she fully convinced herself that she WAS Elizabeth, she was William's daughter, his creation.
An AI that convinces itself they are someone they aren't (sound familiar?)
In HW2 I just want to note, as other have, how Baby feels different. Shes her old self back from good old SL. Now you might say well yes of course she is, she doesnt get like that till Pizzeria Sim. But it should also be noted on how emphasize was placed on her and her alone, not the other Funtimes, and not certainly not Scrapbaby. They wanted to emphasize SL's Baby, the "advanced AI". What I'm hoping this is that its a roll back on the character, not necessarily a retcon but trying to fix her character a bit with how it was fucked in Pizzeria Sim.
Now a lot of people just accepted Baby really is Elizbaeth. While in SL that was ambiguous (bc she was a manipulative genius!) All that gets pushed aside in Pizzeria Sim. What I like to think is that after being kicked out of Ennard and being apart of it for so long she just kinda lost herself, who was she? She wans't Baby anymore she lost herself, her look, the hold she had on those around, she was like a lost child in that moment...maybe she was a lost child? Maybe she really was Elizabeth this whole time? And in that moment of weakness she fully convinced herself that she WAS Elizabeth, she was William's daughter, his creation.
An AI that convinces itself they are someone they aren't (sound familiar?)
So basically SL was the introduction of the advanced AI era, Pizzeria Sim got rid of most of the spirits (and helped trapped William in hell in UCN) and made the companies ads literally help fuck you over on nights which is pretty on the nose looking back, and SB was our formal introduction to the new era of Fazbear Ent and its consequences with HW2 tying them all into one game/one era (HW going up to SL and HW2 having SL and after in it)
Or maybe I just pulled most of that out of my ass bc when it boils down Baby ACTUALLY being Elizabeth and being such a "daddy's girl" instead of the manipulative genius she was in SL literally ruined her character in general idk (like yeah shes a traumatized child but the way it just happens still kinda sucks) . And also again I'm tired as hell!
I need to stop going on tangents lol
Edit: I was thinking of mentioning the fact that the megaplex is built over the pizzeria sim than I remembered Gregory just made that shit up lol (In RUIN I honestly can't tell what that area is under the megaplex, I think it's mentioned in the books?) Also sorry if this is kinda jumbled I just wanted to quickly fix a few things before posting bc I keep forgetting about this post and making it sit in my drafts sorrryyyy

Foolish's Point of View~
I stood outside of Sam's house as I was sweating while feeling very nervous. I took a deep breath as I knocked on the hard wood as I waited for Sam to answer the door.
After a few minutes, I could hear small footsteps as the door opened to reveal Sam on the other side of the door. My nervous level literally went up a little.
"Oh hey Foolish. It's a surprise to see you here." he said as I mustered up a smile as I nodded.
"Yeah. I just wanted to talk to you about something if you aren't busy at the moment." I asked as he looked at me before nodding.
"I am not busy so you can come in and we can talk." he said opening the door even more to let me in as I entered his house while he closed it and led me to the living room.
As I entered the living room, I noticed a shelf which had picture frames and I saw a picture of Sam and Y/N when she was just little and then a picture of when she was just a teenager.
I smiled at the pictures before I sat down on the chair opposite to where Sam was sitting. At this point, I was feeling pretty nervous and scared to ask him.
"So what did you want to talk about?" Sam asked as I looked at him.
"I came to ask for your permission." I said as he looked confused.
"My permission for what?" He asked as I let out a sigh.
"To have your daughter's hand in marriage." I said as silence fell in the living room.
I glanced at Sam who seemed to have a look of shock as if trying to process whatever I just said. I was pretty scared right now and I was already scared of Sam the minute I started to date Y/N.
"Wait so... you are asking me for Y/N's hand in marriage?" He asked but he didn't seem angry.
"Yeah. I am Sam. I really love Y/N. She's everything to me. She's the reason I am happy cause seeing makes me smile and she's helped me a lot of times." I said as I felt Sam looking at me.
"What do you like about Y/N?" He asked as I looked down before speaking.
"I like how she's kind, smart, very optimistic and knows how to make someone smile. I'll be honest Sam, in my eyes she's like a Goddess to me because she radiates so much happiness that it just makes me feel happy about myself. She's very accepting too." I said as I smiled at what I said about her.
"I understand if you don't give me permission Sam." I finished as I looked down as to not meet his eyes.
I heard him sigh and then suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder as I looked up to see Sam not having a negative look but was smiling.
"I give you my blessing and permission. I wish you the best of luck." He said as I looked at him in shock but smiled.
"Thanks Sam." I said as he nodded.
"Anytime. Now get going." He said as I got up and left after thanking him again.
I already had a date planned with her tonight. I just needed to get things ready and I had plenty of time to do so. I quietly ran my way towards my summer home so I can get things and myself ready and pick up Y/N.
Timeskip brought to you by Foolish Jr. and Finley~
I took a deep breath as I came towards the front of her house as I knocked on it as I held the bouquet of Y/F/F behind me to surprise her. I was feeling nervous and excited at the same time.
After a few, I heard the door open to be greeted by Y/N herself. I was speechless as to how she looked. She wore a long elegant yellow green floral dress with beading florals as he hair slightly long hair was loose and pinned at the back by a silver barrette.
(Dress Reference)
She looked like a Goddess honestly. I could feel my cheeks warming up as I was blushing at this point. I smiled as I held out the flowers to her.
"For you m'lady." I said as I heard her giggle as she took the flowers.
"You didn't have to Foolish but thanks anyways. These are lovely." She said as I shook my head.
"I wanted to do it. But may I say you look really beautiful tonight." I said as I saw her blush.
"T-thank you. You look rather handsome yourself." She said as I chuckled as I held out my hand to her.
"Shall we?" I asked as she smiled and took my hand.
"We shall." She said with a small giggle.
We carefully made our way to my summer home. Luckily we didn't run into any mobs in the nether. Today was pretty quest there too unlike how it's filled with piglins and such. When we came through the portal to my Summer home, I stopped.
"Is something wrong?" She asked as I shook my head.
"It's nothing but I want you to close your eyes." I said.
"Why?" She asked confused.
"It's a surprise." I said with a smile.
"You're not planning to kidnap me are you?" She asked as I shook my head.
"That would probably the lats thing I'd ever do." I said to her.
"Okay okay. I'll keep my eyes closed." She said as she closed her eyes.
I carefully guided her towards the place where I set the date up. After a few moments I stopped in front of the place. It was a very place for a view to with the ocean and the stars shining bright in the sky. I looked over at Y/N, smiling.
"Okay. You can open your eyes now." I said as she opened her eyes only to have a look of shock as her eyes twinkled.
"Foolish... This is... amazing!" I heard her exclaim with excitement.
"I am glad you like it. It was pretty easy to set up and I did this for you the most. I mean we've been dating for a while now so I thought of doing something extra special for this date." I said as she hugged me.
"Thank you Foolish." She said as I hugged back.
"Anything for you. Now let's enjoy the night while it lasts." I said.
It was a very well-going date so far. I was glad to see Y/N smiling most of time. I am glad she enjoyed the date so far as much as I did. We mostly talked for a while.
I was trying to figure out when to confess to her. I wanted to confess to her during this date but I wasn't sure when to. I could do it now but I am just waiting for the right moment.
Then I remembered something. I quickly checked my watch to see the time and saw that it wad five minutes till the meteor shower was going to happen.
"Hey Y/N. Come on with me. There's gonna be a meteor shower tonight." I said.
"Wait really?!" She said as I nodded.
"Yeah. I didn't know either until later. Come on!" I said as we both got up from her seats and took her hand.
I dragged her towards the sandy shore of the place as we sat down to look up at the starry night sky. Not even a minute later, the meteor shower started.
It was a pretty sight to be honest. I glanced at Y/N who seemed to be awestruck at this. I smiled as I felt the box which held the ring in my pocket.
I was going to do it tonight and I wasn't going to leave without even confessing to her. The meteor shower ended after a few. Right now we were just looking at the night sky as the stars twinkled. It was peaceful to say the least.
"The stars are really beautiful tonight." I heard her say as I looked at her with a smile.
"Not as beautiful as you." I said as she blushed and looked at me and let out a small laugh.
"I am nowhere near beautiful as them Foolish." She said as I put my hand on top of hers as I kissed her forehead.
"You're just as beautiful as the stars." I said as she looked at me with a smile knowing there was no point in arguing about it.
She leaned her head on my shoulder as I wrapped my arm around her. We stayed like this for a few until, I felt Y/N shifting a bit as she pulled away.
"What time is it right now?" She asked as I looked at my watch.
"It's currently 3 in the morning." I said as she slowly got up and I followed to do the same.
"Thank you for the date tonight Foolish. It was one of the greatest dates I ever had and will always cherish the moments we had." She said as I nodded with a smile.
"Anything for you, Y/N." I said as she smiled.
"I have to get going or my dad's gonna start freaking out." She said and that's when I remembered what I had to do.
I quickly pulled the box out of my pocket and held it tight behind me as I stopped Y/N from walking away from me any further as I carefully grabbed her hand.
"Y/N wait! Before you go, I have to tell you something. I promise it won't take long!" I said as she stopped to look at me as I let go of her hand.
"Okay sure. What is it" She asked as I let out a sigh before I started to speak.
"Y/N, these three years of my life were the greatest when I first met you. You're smart, funny, kind, caring and even the most optimistic out of everyone here. You would always try making others smile and laugh. Not everyone can do something like that. I felt blessed when I met you and the fact that you even accepted to be my girlfriend. These three years have been nothing but the greatest time I have spent with you and I don't want to ever let you go." I said as she looked at me with shock and I could tell she had tears coming out of her eyes with what I have just said.
"I... Foolish what are you trying to say?" She asked in an audible whisper.
"What I am trying to say here is that..." I started as I took out the ring box from behind as I knelt down in front of her as I opened the box to reveal a beautiful silver ring which had an emerald stone in the middle with small diamonds surrounding it.
"Will do me the honors of making me the happiest man alive and marry me?" I asked as I saw her covering her mouth in shock and tears.
"Foolish... I..." I heard her start. I was expecting the worst honestly. I wouldn't argue if she rejected me but what she said next shocked me.
"Of course I'll marry you!" She said as I was tackled to the ground by her as we both laughed.
We both sat up on the sandy floor as I put the ring on her finger and kissed her on the lips as she kissed back. We eventually pulled away as we stayed in each other's embrace for a bit more.
I couldn't think of anything else other than the beautiful girl that was right in my arms who is now my fiancee. I kissed the top of her head as I smiled while resting my chin on her head.
"I love you Foolish." I heard her whisper as she let out a yawn.
"I love you too. Sleep well my Goddess." I said as I saw her falling asleep in my arms.
I looked up at the sky. I smiled as I looked down at the sleeping figure in my arms before I let out a small chuckle and kissed her temple.
"Under the stars, I only see you."

I may have actually died from the immense fluff of the oneshot but I am actually pretty proud of this and I hope you like it too Yams!

Until My Last Breath (Prologue)
Tumblr media
Summary: When Smaug arrived, he not only killed the dwarves of Erebor, but he also destroyed the lives of the few who survived... whether he did it on purpose or not. After a hundred years, a part of Thorin's past will come back to haunt him in the form of a dwarf who last knocks on the door of Bilbo Baggins' house, resurrecting old grudges and the pain of a life no one wants to talk about. Geira, daughter of Geiri, is anything but an open book, an exiled who no one wants around, a warrior who has no one to fight for, but only an oath she must fulfil.
Relationships: Thorin x FemaleOC
Rating: M
Warnings: none.
AO3 LINK: HERE
Note Number I: English is not my first language, I have a wonderful beta @lathalea <3 (i am so much greatful you can't even imagine) but maybe I will mess up few times.
Note Number II: The Story takes place during the quest but there is a whole backstory that starts since Thorin's childhood so there are going to be a lot of flashbacks. THEY ARE NOT IN A CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER so the whole back story could be guessed but will be explained later in the story.
Note Number III: I will mix up the book events and the movie events, fixing what where (from my point of view) some mistakes were made. I have decided to do so simply because there are some lacks of infos here and there and so many lost possibilities in some actionless time, as happened in Mirkwood and Laketown.
I am blood of your blood, and bone of your bone, stone of your stone
I gift you my body so it can fall instead of yours.
I give you my soul so it can  wait for yours in the Great Halls.
I lend you my voice so it can order your commands
I present you my sword so it can slay the ones who wish to harm you.
No other dwarf will be mine, no other dwarf will own me,
no one will sleep next to me, no life will come out from the womb of mine.
No one I will serve over the crown, over the Seven Stars, over the Father of all fathers, over the King of all Kings.
I offer myself to you, until the end of times, until the mountains soar to the sky,
until all the blood dries, until the fires of Mahal’s forge blaze high.
Until my last breath, until my last glance, until my last blow,
until the last time my hands touch the rock our Father gave to us,
my life is yours and your wish is mine.
--------------------------------------------------
The house of Bilbo Baggins was more crowded than usual that evening, and the owner was more than a little disconcerted: not only had his peace of mind been disturbed, not only was his larder completely, utterly, depleted, but his kitchen, indeed his whole house, was overrun with dwarves! Thirteen dwarves! Plus a wizard he had met in the morning whom he barely knew and had marked the door with a rune, thanks to which his guests had recognised the Hobbit's dwelling. Truly, Bilbo Baggins did not know how to begin to drive them out, he had been trying since the first one (Dwalin, if he remembered correctly) had walked in through the round door, obviously without being heard by any of them.
Crockery, knives, pots and pans, everything had begun to fly from one side of the room to the other without ever stopping. He tried more than once to stop them, without ever succeeding! At that moment his Took blood was more useless than a fork when eating soup. In fact, his Baggins blood had gotten the better of him, leading him to accept the situation with no small amount of annoyance, including those black strokes on his yellow walls and the fragments of food scattered on the floor. Oh, not to mention his good wine, totally gone! It had taken him hours to sort out his pantry between days before and now all his food, all his tomatoes, all his wine, all his cheese, everything, gone, vanished, and it was not even the time for the spring solstice party yet!
And now, or in heaven's name, now Gandalf had even had the courage to tell him that he would have to get used to them! To all of them! To the twelve dwarves in his kitchen! And what on earth did the wizard mean by saying  that he would have to put up with them forever!
Annoyed, he began to walk down the corridor arguing with Gandalf and putting his hands on his hips.
"I don't understand what they are doing in my house!" he shouted, raising his voice.
The wizard didn't reply, but a small voice behind him did and before he knew it his entire set of porcelains was in the air.  His cutlery was being knocked over his table. Knife blades were being dulled by their rubbing against fork handles, and before he knew it, in time to the music, his entire kitchen set was flying through the air.  Oh no, no no no, not that chair, no, not that plate, no not that other plate! No, stop, please!
His pleas were soaring through the air, as if they were leaves on a wind, as were his dishes. And Gandalf sat smoking his pipe on a chair with an amused smile while all this happened before his eyes. Bilbo ran to the kitchen to put an end to this madness, but as soon as he did so, he noticed to his surprise that all the things that had been flying over his head until just now were neatly stacked on top of each other on his kitchen table.
He blinked, several times adjusting his braces, unable to believe his eyes.
The dwarves seemed highly amused by his reaction, and began to laugh, until three knocks on the door brought silence and an icy air that he could feel all the way down to his hobbit ankles.
"He is here," Gandalf said.
From the doorway a short while later another dwarf entered and it didn't take him long to realise that he was different, very different from the others who had entered his home moments before. Every single beard turned to face the newcomer as he walked inside.
Bilbo didn't know who it was and he didn't even really care, no one would enter his house unannounced, no one.
But he couldn't admit that his blood ran cold in his veins as soon as that dwarf started talking to him and asking him all those strange questions. What did he mean by axe or sword? Did he really believe that a hobbit like him had ever picked up either weapon? Who did he think he was? He could not hide his confusion at the last statement of the so-called Thorin Oakenshield.
"He looks more of a grocer than a burglar," he joked.
It was all too absurd for Bilbo's poor hobbit ears, all so surreal! His life, monotonous and lonely until a few hours ago, was now changing, he could feel it in his bones, and he could not understand if it was a good thing or not: he had always dreamed of adventure when he was a young hobbit, but now it was different; the walls of his home were so comforting and safe, every object was a certainty for him. His life was there and he would never leave it, no sir!
Calmness, however, continued to reign for a long time, during which the largest of the dwarves, with a long red beard, went to his kitchen and with an almost surreal care began to prepare a soup. Thorin Oakenshield sat down at the head of the table and was soon joined by the oldest of the dwarves who had entered his house, Balin, and two of the youngest, the two brothers Fili and Kili.
They began to talk in low voices, in a calm and quiet tone, just like everyone else in his house. It seemed absurd, but at least he was able to sort out some of the leftovers that had been left behind in the kitchen back in his own larder and eavesdrop, even if he didn't want to (it was rude) on some of the conversations that various small groups of dwarves were having. The ties of kinship were quickly understood, as was the realisation that Thorin was not really just another dwarf. No more plate was flying, no more song was being sung, but not out of fear, out of respect.
He turned his head, watching the almost regal profile as he spoke to the bear who came into the house first, but he could not hear what they were talking about, the fact was that their faces were dark, and Dwalin's eyes moved insistently over him.
A short while later Bombur returned with the soup, handing it to Thorin, and in the blink of an eye the groups of dwarves in his house were grouped together again, sitting around the table. He wasn't invited, that's normal, there's a meeting in a house and the owner of that house isn't invited! Not that he cared, of course not, the apple he was putting in the basket in the kitchen was certainly more interesting.
But he couldn't help but listen.
"What news from the Ered Luin, did they all come?" asked the older dwarf.
"Aye, envoys from all seven kingdoms," the voice of Thorin spoke, setting off a round of small laughs and joyful murmurs.
"And what do the dwarves of the Iron Hills say? Is Dain with us?"
A long wait ensued in which Bilbo swore he could hear the heart of every single dwarf in the room beating wildly.
"They will not come,"
The dwarf's reply was sharp and decisive. Disconsolate murmurs rose from his dining room that only increased in volume and quantity when he spoke again. "They said this quest is ours and ours alone,"
They began to talk in low voices, in a calm and quiet tone, just like everyone else in his house. It seemed absurd, but at least he was able to sort out some of the leftovers that had been left behind in the kitchen back in his own larder and eavesdrop, even if he didn't want to (it was rude) on some of the conversations that various small groups in that group were having. The ties of kinship were quickly understood, as was the realisation that Thorin was not really just another dwarf. No more  flying plates, no more singing songs, but not out of fear, out of respect.
A coughing noise, however, stopped the murmurs and caused Bilbo to turn to the table from behind the kitchen wall as well, distracting himself from his chores. Gandalf settled into the small chair and began to search the sleeve of his grey robe.
"This indeed, it is not entirely true," he explained as he slowly pulled a long wooden pipe from his sleeve. "There is someone else who has yet to arrive," the sorcerer explained, barely looking Thorin in the eye.
For all the pipe weed in the world, again?
The dwarf at the head of the table stopped sipping from his goblet of ale, giving him a sidelong glance but remained silent. Instead, the dwarf named Gloin spoke, crossing his arms over his chest. "This means yet another division of profit, all of which should have been agreed upon first." he muttered.
"Agreed, this matter should have been dealt with weeks ago," Dori pinned, pulling himself up.
Gandalf did not even look up at the elder dwarf, adjusting the tobacco in his pipe.  "My decision was made after our meeting in the Ered Luin. And Master Gloin, I think that our member does not wish any of that gold in that Mountain."
"Who is it?" grunted Dwalin suspiciously, looking up at the wizard who lit his pipe with his fingertips.
Bofur chuckled under his big black mustache, puffing an avalanche of white smoke from the side of his mouth. "Another burglar?"
"A burglar for the burglar," Fili grinned at the back of the room.
"A burglar made for the burglar," Kili added and their banter invited the murmurs from just before. This time, however, they were louder, more confused, as was his hobbit head.
A torrent of questions flooded the room as they all asked questions of the wizard, who, bewildered, tried to answer; only Thorin's intervention put an end to the commotion created, shouting warnings in their native tongue. Then he turned to the sorcerer himself, glancing at him.
"The questions that have arisen around this table are fair," he began earnestly, "I have not been informed of any others, none of this was a part of the bargain, Gandalf."
Gandalf smiled with the side of his mouth taking a puff of his pipe. "I was told to find the fourteenth member of this company and so I did, the addition of a fifteenth should not be an unsolvable problem."
"As I said it wasn't in the agreements and last minute clauses at a time like this are not convenient, not at all," retorted the dwarf bringing silence again.
Bilbo looked at the dwarves, clouded by the smoke from the pipes and the warmth of the candles around the table. They looked at each other's hands or watched Thorin in silence, not uttering a breath.
Gandalf put down his pipe and crossed his arms on the table, moving slightly closer to the dwarf with long raven hair.
"I assure you that my choice was not taken lightly, and if I had thought it was right a few months ago I would have reported it to you back then. But it was not possible," Gandalf lowered the tone of his voice even further. "You must trust me on this."
"Is this person crucial to what we must accomplish?" he asked quietly, looking straight into his eyes.
The wizard murmured a small "yes" between his lips, nodding his head slightly as he continued to look the dwarf lord straight in the eye.
Thorin said nothing, watched the wizard for a few more seconds before letting himself go off the back of his chair and then he took a sip of ale from his mug again. The conversation had ended in a few simple sentences, yet Bilbo noticed how the wizard continued to look at Thorin insistently.
Gandalf brushed his gloves around his hands with his fingertips dropping his gaze downwards for a few seconds before turning his head back towards him.
"Bilbo, my dear fellow," he called to him in a manner far more cheerful than his face was capable of showing. "Let us have a little more light".
----/////----
A snort passed her lips.
She was dreadfully late, which she hated from the bottom of her heart; and she hated the fact that she was going to a strange house of a Hobbit whose identity she did not know, although after all those years she had become accustomed to being in the homes of strangers quite often. Perhaps the real reason for her stomach clenching was not whose house it was but who she was supposed to meet in that house and the reason why she was going to that house. Because when she would see them again, all of them , it would not be pleasant or easy.
Far from it.
She didn't even think it would ever happen, nor did he want it to happen again.
She slung her sack over her shoulder as she climbed up the little dirt road, passing funny grass-covered houses by the round door: if it had been daytime, a riot of colours would have accompanied her path and perhaps, for a few minutes, she would not have thought about the imminent meeting.
She would have stopped for a few brief moments on that bench next to the path and sat there for a short while, perhaps lighting her pipe or watching those very peaceful people go about their simple business. Watching them do simple, mechanical things, perhaps in another life she might even have stayed in such a place, in peace, with someone. But no, too many years had passed, she had seen too much, heard too much, and she would not be able to live like that, not there.
Suddenly, a faint pale light caught her attention: she approached it and, with a thump in her heart, recognised the rune that the sorcerer had traced so that they could all see it. She reached the garden and climbed the small steps that led to the round green door. She ran a hand over her leather bodice and gathered in her heart all the emotions she could possibly feel.
Hatred, fury, pain and anger, so much anger.
She gritted her teeth and tried to ignore the voices she could hear through the door.  Taking a deep breath to calm her already jangled nerves, she knocked, hearing a great commotion and excited voices from inside.
The door suddenly opened, and it was the sorcerer himself who filled her field of vision: he broke into a rather smug smile, proud to have been right for the umpteenth time.
He knew she would come at last.
She had met him only a few weeks before and he was exactly as the rumours said. Gandalf's every move was studied and planned and, who knows why, everything corresponded to the plan he had devised; how every cog in that mechanism worked was a great mystery. Yet for that, she could not but admire him.
So, after he had silently nodded his head, she entered the cosy, warm house that smelled of good food and wine and was lit by the soft light of candles; she followed him into a corridor and the smell of ashes and moss entered her nostrils, as well as that of processed tobacco and malt. In a few steps she found herself in front of a small room where, around a table, were crammed all the others who, as soon as they glimpsed their new guest, assumed the most surprised and astonished expressions she had ever seen. Their faces turned pale, their beards seemed to stretch to the floor, and none of them dared say a word. Only one of them stood up so fast that he knocked over the stool on which he was sitting, irate.
"What is she doing here?!"
The rumble of thunder rumbled through the room and like a thunderbolt it brought to light old hidden shadows, old whispered words, broken oaths.
--------------------------------------------------
You're blood of my blood, bone of my bone, stone of my stone,
I embrace your body to let it protect me
I take your soul and forge for it a place next to me in the Great Halls
I take your voice which I will hear above all others
I take your sword and I present you my shield which will protect you from my enemies.
No other dwarf will be yours, no other dwarf you will serve,
no one will  keep you company at night, no life will come out from you.
No one you will serve over me, over the Seven Stars, over the Father of all fathers, over the King of all Kings.
I offer myself to your hands until the start to the end, until the skies fall on the ground,
until all the bones crack, until the  fires of Mahal’s forge blaze high.
Until my last breath, until my last glance, until my last blow,
until the last time my hands touch the rock our Father gave to us
my desires are yours, your pain is mine.

A Shred of Altruism for a ‘friend’
Context
This piece was something I had written for myself as part of a fanfiction series with my OC. Since I don't particularly feel too sure about posting it given my OC isn't crazy popular or anything, I figured I could just edit pronouns, names, ect so that maybe someone other than just me and three of my closest friends can enjoy it This takes place way before the events of part three, and before Dio's encounter with Enya AND Pucci. Basically, Reader is the first one Dio has encountered and is learning vauge amount of info on stands from. Spoilers/Content warnings ♡ Minor Stardust Crusaders/Stone Ocean spoilers ♡ Over Heaven book spoilers (would recommend reading before hand) ♡ CW:Dio not being an asshole lmao
♡ Technically not a warning, but their may be misplacements with POV's and pronoun usage. Translating this into an xReader wa difficult. «
Reader is 18+, a stand user (S/N=Stand Name), very SFW, gender neautrual pronouns used
»
The battle between you and the other user finally came to an end when you used all of your remaining energy to defeat him. S/N ability managed to bring them into retirement. All the while this happened, Dio could see just what was happening, how the two stands fought one another. He could only really feel the energy. However he was all around useless in that particular situation, seeing was one thing, but Dio did not yet have the stand—At least not yet. Dio had two options now that his companion was left unconscious. Leave you and be done with having to keep extra weight, or bring you back to the small hotel you had the both of you staying at. Dio obviously chose the latter. It was not out of altruism, or at least not in his mind, it was all simply done out of respect for all your efforts, sacrificing your chance of a ‘normal’ future to run off with him. Besides, in his weaker state you were his best bet to survive and learn about this new world quickly. Dio reached for your exhausted form, there was still a pulse, good. However, you were still out cold from the overexertion. When he finally was able to sneak into the hotel, he gently placed your body onto the bed. Technically speaking, his work here was done but his subconscious—The few times what shred of humanity he had—decided to take over. You were more than just a mere fling, or some kind of phase, your soul was what drew him to you like a moth to the flames. You had become his over your guy’s short time together, whether Dio was self aware of that or not was a different question. Dio manipulated your form around until he was able to get you under the covers. Thankfully he didn’t manage to disturb your rest. The blonde hastily scanned around the room. Water! You would probably need water whenever you’d awaken. He yanked a small rinse cup from the bathroom and set in onto the night stand beside you. Food. What did you have for food? Apparently not much given all he could find was an apple and banana. Not even an assortment of fruit in a bedroom for an upscale hotel? What a mockery. The vampire bit the side of his lip back and let out an exasperated huff. It had been years since the last time he worried about human nourishment like this. For him nourishment was far more simpler. This mere mortal of a human. How dare y/n make an omnipotent being like him do such humbling things for you. Who were you? However, none of that truly mattered when it came to his inconspicuous admiration for you. Even if he didn’t quite understand what it was, your power drew him to you. Y/n was angelic, beautifully devine in his eyes. The grace that radiated from you when you used that strange, raw power. It was something beyond what he even imagined being in the realm of possibility. It was very close to what he dreamt about during his time in his century long torpor state. But even with all y/n’s physical features, you were still knowledgeable and fascinating nonetheless—y/n was not one to boast about their knowledge demeaningly—but like a friend. However, even if this ‘feeling’, this ‘attraction’ was something of love or romance, Dio surely never felt such a thing in his life, at least not in a long time. The audacity of this human—A being below him—Having such an impact to make him so emotionally vulnerable just made his stomach turn. What nerve you had. And yet...He strangely didn’t mind this, this exotic feeling and emotion for him was somewhat of an indulgence. It was more or less as if y/n was the worthiest of his affections in the few times he did allow himself these moments. Y/n was holy, and he was obligated to give you that kind of credit. Dio took in a deep breath and sighed, glancing back down at your tired form. He scanned around, thinking of what else may help. He spotted your messy hair draped over your face and leaned forward, trying his best to wipe them from your eyes without awakening your. Just because he occasionally enjoyed being sweetly intimate, doesn’t mean he was good at it. Typically he lured in his prey sensuality, but tenderness and endearment were not things he often brushed up his skills on. ༺༻ Even if it was only a couple of hours, the silence was tedious. He really was missing having another person to speak to. He’d just spent far too long in silence, the thought of it drove him mad. He didn’t even notice himself tapping his foot in the air as he flipped through the glossy magazine pages. He knew that this power of theirs often resulted in a physical consequence, and the severity of that physical result was dependent on how much power you exerted. Dio could feel this power, but alas he could not see it. Not yet. Even though this was a setback in their plans, it was minor really. The battle brought them one step closer towards Dio finding the one who held the ability to grant these powers to the ones who weren’t naturally gifted like y/n was. Fortunately, Dio was able to force information out of the opposing user before he met his demise. Y/n’s e/c eyes softly fluttered open with a tired groan to follow. You tiredly threw a hand over your eyes with a deep breath. Dio perked up before you even had a chance to collect where you were and set down the cup of wine. “Y/n.” He said, an ounce of enthusiasm lacing his tone. It was almost as if he had completely just set aside his inner turmoil about his feelings in favor of your company again. You paused and turned your head. All Dio was met with was a disgruntled expression, as if they had been woken up out of nowhere during a deep sleeping session. “Dio…? Are we back at the hotel?” The wild blonde nodded. “Despite your unfavorable condition, you were victorious. It was quite a thrill to watch really.” Quickly you sat up and rubbed one of your eyes, almost a bit surprised. Y/n never really went up against another user per-say. You were fortunate enough to have grown up sheltered enough to not have many encounters with another due to an altercation, even with how un-glamours your youth with your parents was. It was also a fascinating discovery for someone like you who was curious about the functionality of stands. They really were an enigma; a shame however that other users were more or less aggressive. Y/n’s smile lasted for a moment until the realization hit them that they may have missed out important information for Dio. A long groan escaped you. Y/n pinched the bridge of their nose. “My apologies Dio...I got ahead of myself...we could’ve tried getting a lead and instead I-“ The corner of his lip lifted, the vampire dismissively waved an arm. “Do not worry about that. I was able to pry details from him before the final blow.” Y/n blinked and let out a sigh of relief, throwing their legs to the edge of the bed. “I must’ve blacked out because I don’t even remember that. Hm, but that doesn’t matter really.” They shrugged. Dio assumed a spot beside them, crossing his arms and throwing a leg over the other. “You got what we needed to know, that's what’s important.” You knowingly smiled up at him. Dio nodded in agreement. “You’re correct.” Dio lifted a finger up. “Anyways, you’re going to need to make preparations for us to embark to egypt as soon as you’re back to complete health.” “Egypt?” You tilted your head. “Yes. That is apparently where I will find the one who can grant others these ‘stands’. He said that she is an old witch of some sorts named Enya.” Y/n raised their brows in surprise. How in the world was he able to get so much precise information without fighting. Then again, this man was supernatural, perhaps he had his own ways of making one talk. Then again, if he did what point was there in making you do all the dirty work. Unless perhaps he wanted to just seize the opportunity to see what he could do and use your opponent as fodder. “Huh...Well. I suppose I was starting to get tired of this country anyways.” Y/n yawned, stretching their shoulder up to their cheek. “Luckily you have me around. Stand users tend to attract other stand users from my knowledge, so finding this woman shouldn’t take too long once we arrive.” “Perhaps. In any case, it may be best to be negotiable once we find this woman.” “Certainly, of course. And if she is an old woman, surely her power may be weaker. Despite today, I don’t particularly care for using my strength against someone weaker. Unless of course they instigate it.” They nodded. “Hm.” Dio glanced down at you for a moment, thinking about what you just said. “Part of me hopes we run into other users. As you know I cannot exactly see what is happening, I am still fascinated by what you can do.” Subconsciously your smile grew a little. You were a sucker for any kind of praise, but they had to keep their contentment dampered. “Thank you...I’m glad I can share my gift with you. When you have a stand as well, I can’t wait for you to fully experience what S/N can do. To be able to see it like I can see it.” Dio re-adjusted himself to a more comfortable position, sitting sideways to put more attention towards their conversation, leg still crossed over the other. “Oh yes, of course. I would be honored to further understand this power of yours more. If it wasn’t for you, I certainly would not be used to this body enough to even function without continued rest.” You shuddered a little internally, it was still a little strange that body was someone else's, even though you were used to this fact, you certainly did not need to be reminded. Y/n forced a smile and chuckled. “Thank you. I’m glad we’re friends as well.” ༺༻ ‘Friends’ that phrase echoed in Dio’s mind. Maybe he was their friend, but Dio did not have friends. Dio always had subjects. Pawns. Harems. Followers. Not that he couldn’t make friends but such relationships were beyond him. And with a human? He could just scoff at the thought. Most humans really weren’t nothing more than pawns, food, or a source of pleasure. Your relationship was not sexual, nor would he use someone who was doing such a big favor for him as food. But if you weren’t either of those, then what were you exactly? A guard dog? No. That was just insulting. Your relationship felt deeper than simply a subject or a pawn. Whatever. ‘Friends’ would suffice for now. The vampire cleared his throat between the silence. “Ahem. Yes. Friends.” Dio glanced at the food he left for them on the nightstand. “You should eat, dear, as I said, I wish to start our journey to Egypt as soon as you are feeling better.” Y/n peered back and took the banana. they opened their mouth to offer him the apple but remember he did not need that. “Right.” They nodded, peeling the banana. “By the way, I’d like to thank you. You could’ve just left me, but instead you tended to me when I was vulnerable.” They paused and continued to quickly eat their banana. “This may be a bit strange, being you’re a vampire, and above me on the food chain but…” Y/n paused and collected their thoughts, thinking how to word this without completely disinteresting him with their sentimentality. “I feel safe when I’m around you. I’m the one who is helping you but honestly? I suppose emotionally I feel secure around you. You’re the only person who seems to understand me and appreciate me.” Dio thought for a moment and scoffed. Not at you, but the fact that someone as smart, clever, and beautiful as you could go unappreciated. His legs uncrossed quickly. “Those who don’t appreciate you are simply putz.” He huffed and shook his head. “Fools. Utter fools.” Y/n froze, watching him place his hand over her head and pat it. “You are possibly the most useful person I’ve come across since my time out. I am uh…” Dio admittedly had faltered. “Grateful...For you as well.” “Really?” They smiled a bit, their gaze drifting up to his hand. “Here I was worried I’d gross you with all this sentimentality.” “No. I suppose even the most superior of beings need to express a bit of tenderness.” He nodded, continuing to gently pat your hair;It was quite soft really. “And if I am to express these sorts of emotions, it should be to one who is worthy of it. Someone I can trust not to use this as a weapon against me.” “Certainly. I know I would expect the same from you as well, Dio.” Your smile became a bit softer. The pair of you fell silent for a moment. The male hadn’t realized it but his hand had drifted down to feel your smooth locks. Y/n blinked and their eyes averted to the side. “Dio? What are you doing?” He quickly caught just what he was doing and pulled away, trying to play it off. Dio cleared his throat and got up from bed,, completely ignoring the subject. “In any case. Go rest. I’ll find some way of entertaining myself, don’t worry.”

No Secrets, Part 1
Tumblr media
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader, Bucky Barnes x Reader (???)
Warnings: None in this section
Tumblr media
“West quadrant all clear,” Natasha’s voice came across the coms.
“There’s still a few runners on the loose out here.” Stark reported. “Wilson, there’s a pair headed your way.”
“On it.”
“Y/N, Report.” Cap swept the east side of the warehouse. “I’ve got nothing else here.”
“Standby.” You whispered. A technician and an armed soldier were loading equipment into crates. “Two hostiles on the load dock over here.”
“I’ll be there in twenty seconds.” Bucky’s voice chimed in.
You mentally rolled your eyes. Why did he always have to rush in an take over whenever you had a situation? Sliding around pallets of equipment cases, you managed to get almost behind the two. Shooting the equipment could be bad, considering this was an experimental research and testing facility. None of you knew what this stuff actually did yet.
The armed soldier turned toward the technician. You took the opportunity, shooting him down. The technician drew a strange looking weapon, firing with unexpected speed. A piece of equipment behind you blew apart. You landed on your side shooting back, dropping the tech.
Just as Bucky turned the corner, the broken device behind you exploded. He watched you collapse and rushed to your side. “Y/N is down!”
“What!” Steve responded at the same time Stark barked “Report!”
“An explosion” He knelt beside you looking for damage but didn’t see anything. You began to stir. “No obvious wounds. She’s coming around.”
“It’s a good thing she’s got a hard head.” Tony’s voice came through the com.
You were on the ground, Bucky suddenly above you looking worried. As soon as you focused on him, the blue eyes went cold, pissed. “What the hell were you thinking? I told you I was coming?”
“I’m fine.” You argued sitting up, though wondering if you’d just passed out. “I got both of them.”
‘Fine my ass. You went down like a bag of rocks. Scared the shit out of me.’
“Didn’t know you cared, Barnes.” You scoffed, getting to your feet.
“What?” He grabbed your arm, glaring at you. ‘Damn it. Why do you have to be so difficult? I just want to pack you up and get you out of here. Somewhere safe.’
“I’m not trying to, okay? What is wrong with you?” You glared back.
“Trying to what?” Bucky faced you full on, eyes hard, hand tightening on your arm.
“Not trying to be difficult. Why are...”
Bucky ripped the com unit out of his ear and reached up to take the one out of yours despite your protest. “Y/N, Look at me.” You pushed every bit of annoyance you had into your stare. ‘I think that device did something to you.’
Just before you began to argue the realization that Bucky’s lips had not moved sunk in. “What the hell?”
“That thing. Whatever it gave off.” Bucky’s eye went wide. “You can hear what I’m thinking.”
“Oh, shit.”
‘Yeah, oh shit.’ You distinctly heard his voice in your head. ‘I’m so fucked.’
“Why?’ Your eyebrow quirked up as Bucky handed you back you com.
He replaced his own in his ear. “Banner. We have a situation. I’m bringing Y/N back to the jet.”
“What’s going on?” Steve’s voice cut in before Bruce could respond.
“The device that blew did, I don’t know, something to her mind.”
“I’m right here.” You barked. “Stop talking around me.”
“What’s wrong? She sounds like her normal charming self.” Stark chimed in.
“She, ah,” Bucky looked sideways at you. “She’s hearing my thoughts.”
There was a long moment of silence on the coms. Then everyone spoke at once.
“Get her to the jet!”
“What!”
“How the hell?”
“Are you serious?”
“Children!” Tony shouted. “Barnes, get her to the jet. Banner, it might not be a bad idea to sedate her until we can run a full battery of tests at the lab. I’m heading in to get a look at that device.”
“Come on, Doll.” Bucky grabbed you by the arm and practically dragged you through the facility. ‘Let’s knock you out before you hear something you shouldn’t.’
“Really?”
Bucky gave you a pleading look and you found yourself relenting. Fine. When you reached the jet, Bruce had earbuds in, listening to opera. He led you to one of the recycling seats and performed a quick perfunctory exam and then set up an IV. “I’m going to give you a sedative. We’ll wake you up in the lab. Okay?”
“Yeah,” you sighed. “Whatever.”
‘Sorry.’ Bucky looked at you with mournful eyes.
“I hate this.” You grumbled, already feeling the effects.
“You know that Nat and Tony, hell any of us, are not comfortable with the idea of someone without control reading our minds.” Bucky actually took your hand in his. ‘It’ll be okay. I’ll stay right here.’
Tumblr media
The noise woke you before the light. They were familiar voices. Steve, Bucky, Bruce, and Tony were arguing. Some loud, some not. It was strange. You fought to open your eyes. They felt heavy, sticky. The drugs. That’s right.
“Hey.” You croaked, swallowed, and tried again. “Hey, guys. Take it outside.”
“Y/N.” Steve leaned over you. “How you feeling?”
“Fuzzy.”
‘No shit, they’ve kept you under for six days.’ Bucky was taking your other hand, a scowl on his face. You gave him a look, but he shook his head slightly.
“What’s going on?” You asked.
“It appears you were hit with a massive surge from the whatever that device was. It flooded you with an energy with a signature similar to what we saw from the Mind Stone. We can’t really test anything beyond computer simulations because the explosion completely burned out the device.” Bruce explained. “What we can say, is the abnormal readings in your brain have been steadily decreasing by 1.7% a day.”
“A day.” You repeated. “What day is it, exactly?"
‘Damn. Damn. Damn.’ Bruce looked at you, head tipped low. “The fifteenth.”
‘Should’ve kept her under.’ Tony looked on nervously. ‘Fuck. Did she hear that? Shit. What now? She looks pissed.’
‘So sorry. Never should have let it go so long.’ Steve watched your face, holding your hand.
‘I’ll beat the hell out of them for this. Not right keeping you under when there’s nothing wrong with you.’ Bucky squeezed your other hand.
“So, I’m what? A security risk. You don’t want me picking up on stray thoughts that I shouldn’t.”
‘Oh, thank fucking god!’ Tony gave you a sad smile that was completely contradictory to celebratory tune in his mind. “Something like that.”
“We figure since you were only picking up on Barnes while you were at the warehouse, and the nearest person was about two hundred meters away, we could just...” Bruce began explaining.
“Sequester me by myself somewhere until this wears off.” You pulled your hands away from the boys, crossing your arms. “For what? Two, three months? Alone. Great.”
‘Over my dead body, you don’t get to lock her up ‘cause your uncomfortable, asshole.’ Bucky’s stray thought nearly made you smile.
“I’ve got an amazing place all lined up. Just twenty minutes from the compound and it’s been all tricked out with the best stuff.” Tony spoke a million words a minute. “Movies, streaming, video conferencing, gaming, a full library. Amazing kitchen. AI. The scenery is cool. Stuff can be delivery. Shop all you want, I got you covered. Just consider it a paid vacation.”
‘It’s too long.’ Steve was staring out the window. ‘Don’t want you gone that long.’
“I’ll come weekly and run a check.” Bruce added. ‘This sucks.’
“So, ah, here’s all the info.” Stark handed you a tablet. “Pack up and stay in touch. Um, sorry kid.” He left with Bruce on his heels.
“Great.” You swung your feet out of bed. “Well, you boys going to run away too?”
‘Don’t wanna, Doll.’ Bucky stepped up, rubbing your shoulder. “I don’t care what these assholes think. We’ll figure something out. I’m going to go fuel up your car, okay?”
You nodded and he left. Bucky had always been a friend, but what he didn’t say made you adore him even more. Ever since joining the team, he and Steve were your first and closest friends. A gentle chant of ‘in and out’ made you realize Steve was working very hard to keep his mind blank by focusing on his breathing.
“Steve.” You got up, a bit wobbly.
‘Damn it.’ His arm came around your side to support you immediately. “I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have let this go on for so long. Are you okay?” Steve’s eye’s filled with concern. ‘You don’t look okay. God, I screwed up.’
“I’ll be okay.” You leaned into him, wrapping your arms around his waist. “It’s just a lot and I’m still a little, I don’t know, disoriented.”
He squeezed you. “I’m sorry.”
“Stop apologizing. You didn’t do anything wrong.” You spoke into his chest.
“I should have fought harder to wake you up sooner. I don’t like this idea of sending you away.” Steve gave you a squeeze. ‘I don’t want you to go anywhere. We can stay just like this.’
Something tightened in your chest. A nervous flutter danced across your belly. Just to test the feeling, you turned into Steve’s embrace fully, tipping your head up and burying your nose in his neck. You murmured. “It sucks but, I’ll be okay.”
‘Oh god,’ Steve gave you a tighter squeeze. ‘She feels so good. So damn good. Not about you, Rogers. Get it together.’ He held you back from him. “Are you going to be okay getting ready? Do you help?”
You stared into his eyes for a long moment, wondering why you never realized there was an attraction there before. He was focusing on making sure you would be okay. It was so sweet. Still, random thoughts burst through. ‘It may be months.’ ‘Kiss her.’ ‘So beautiful.’ ‘Don’t be an idiot.’
“I’ll be okay, Steve.” You touched his cheek. “How about I call you as soon as I get there?”
“Please.”
“You can call any time.”
“I will.” He smiled, a bit shy. “I suppose it’s evident I how much I want to.”
You just smiled back. “Let’s talk about when I don’t have an unfair advantage.”
He hugged you close once more. “I’m going to miss you.”
“Yeah,” You sighed. “I’ll miss you, too.”
He left to let you get dressed. As you pulled on the pants for the scrubs, you had to fight back a giggle as you heard. ‘Smooth, Rogers. Sniff her hair like that. Idiot. Gonna miss her smell. I hate this. Should have kissed her. Idiot.’

The next of my follower milestone gift fics is for @chrysanthemum9484 and the prompt word is fane!
Pairing: GaaraNaruto Word count: 1721 Rated: T+ Summary: Following a trail of rumors and dark secrets led him here to a temple so much like one he knows all too well yet this place contains something he could never have expected.
Follow the link or read it under the cut!
KO-FI and commission info in the header!
Fane and Fortune
The place was a lot dustier than he’d been expecting but by the time he finally stumbled across it Naruto wasn’t really in a position to be picky about temple cleanliness. His legs were aching, his food stores low, and his mouth was so parched for water he very seriously considered the merits of allowing one of the street curs outside to lick inside his mouth just to get a little moisture. When the monk who greeted him offered a friendly smile Naruto did what he could to muster one in return. And then he very promptly passed out.
Presumably he slept for quite some time, judging by the darkness surrounding him when he woke again. None of the rumors he’d heard painted any sort of good pictures about this place but it couldn’t really be all that bad if the monks were nice enough to care for his sand-logged, tired body. He couldn’t imagine who else might have hauled him in to a soft bed and cleaned the worst of the desert off of him while he slept. There was even a pitcher of clean water sitting on the table beside him that Naruto drained in one go without stopping, gasping with sheer relief the moment he stopped to let himself breathe again. Sweet mother but he hadn’t even noticed the pounding headache of dehydration until suddenly it was receding.
After wandering alone through desert heat for so long, the cool stone tiles felt like heaven against his feet when he swung both legs out of bed. Crickets chirruped outside the window and night blanketed the room with shadows but maybe if he looked there might be someone awake to show him where he could get more water. He would have liked nothing more than to dunk his entire head in a bucket and drink the whole thing dry. It wasn’t exactly a surprise to find the door unlocked but it did make him wonder again at the rumors that led him here in the first place as he wandered out and took stock of the empty hallway.
Naruto had been called a number of unflattering things over the course of his life, most of them boiling down to some variant of ‘stupid’. He was known in his circles for being someone willing to go places no one else would. Some might call that brave but Naruto did have at least a modicum of self awareness and he knew that wasn’t it, not really; it was more that he’d been blessed with a special sort of obliviousness that left him entirely ignorant of most dangers until he’d either walked facefirst in to them or they had already passed. Every scrap of information he’d been able to find on this temple had said it was a place to be avoided at all costs. Anyone else might have read between the lines to see the danger. All Naruto could see was his next big adventure. What could be more cool than finding the truth behind so many dark rumors and finally being the one who set them all to rest?
Being habitually oblivious did not leave him free of superstition, however, and as he wandered the empty stone hallways Naruto found himself jumping at every shadow like they might come alive to gobble him up. Maybe some of his friends were right, maybe he really had never grown out of his childhood. Only the active imagination of innocence could have him glaring suspiciously at a patch of desert flowers as he skirted around the edges of a meditation courtyard.
It was startling to realize how close the construction of this temple was to the one he’d grown up in himself. Naruto paused when he finally noticed it, the way his feet travelled familiar paths on instinct, how every corner brought him exactly where he’d unconsciously expected it to. When it clicked he could only grin. Obviously this must be why he was the only one not afraid to come here. Something inside of him must have recognized the call of home even so far away from the place where he’d been raised. Pearly white teeth shone in the dark as he grinned, footsteps picking up speed around every corner until he found himself jogging through the hallways, memory and reality merging with each other until for a moment he all but forgot that this was not his own temple, this was another place in another time.
He was brought crashing back out of his childhood days with a harsh abruptness as he careened through a door that should have led to a place of safety, the one part of the temple not even the old monks dared to set foot in. Naruto had always been safe there no matter how much trouble he caused - but this was not his temple. There was no ratty old fort waiting for him behind that massive statue everyone else refused to look at.
In fact there wasn’t even a statue at all. Naruto’s feet dug furrows in the dust as he skidded to a fumbling halt. Without that massive stone face glaring down at him angrily the room felt almost empty but that was not what caught his eye. Standing on the dais where there should have been an angry mythical fox instead there a man stood, hair as wild as the burning eyes that glowed with something between malice and curiosity.
“Who are you?” he demanded in a low growl.
“Shit, who are you?” Naruto demanded in return, thrown off balance by the surprise. His question didn’t seem to be appreciated.
“I, at least, belong here. Identify yourself or feed the one you have intruded upon.”
Blinking several times did not make sense of that but Naruto was nothing if not boneheaded enough to forge onwards. With a thumb jabbed confidently in to his own chest he declared, “I’m Uzumaki Naruto! Who are you? And where’s the statue, shouldn’t this place have, like, a really massive statue? Where I grew up it’s a fox!”
Despite the enthusiasm of his words it took a while to get a response. That wasn't anything new, though. His levels of energy had always had a way of bowling people over if they weren’t expecting it so he waited as patiently as he was able to. Eventually the man on the dais shifted to cross his arms, drawing attention to his chest, and it was only then that Naruto realized how he was dressed. Or not dressed. Thin plain sandals and a linen kilt of some sort left him entirely bare from the waist up but for the thick golden bands adorning his arms and either his eyes were lined thickly with kohl or he hadn’t slept for at least a decade. If they weren’t standing in a weird kind of faceoff Naruto might have been tempted to offer him a pillow and a quiet room.
“I am Keeper to the guardian of this place,” the man told him eventually. “You know of the Nine-Tailed Fox?”
“Of course I do, dattebayo! He always kept me safe when I needed to run away. Everyone else was always afraid of him but not me!”
“That is...unexpected.
Naruto hummed thoughtfully. It really wasn’t unexpected. Everyone knew to be afraid of the fox just like he could tell that no one else but this guy ever seemed to come in here even if there wasn’t a fox at all. The dust patterns didn’t lie.
“Hey, hey, so how come you haven’t got a statue? And what’s a guardian? Why would they need a keeper?” He had more questions, a whole lot of them, but he fell silent easily when a hand raised in quiet plea.
“It sounds to me that the Temple of the Leaf was not as open with their Keeper as the monks here. My name is Gaara and I would be happy to answer any questions you have. It is good to finally meet someone like myself.” The way his eyes seemed to almost skitter away from looking directly at Naruto spoke to a certain amount of shyness that was entirely surprising from someone with so much confidence in the way they stood.
Trying not to explode with the natural energy that many had told him over the years was annoying, Naruto allowed himself a large grin and nodded happily. “Great! Uh, we’ll start with how I’m like you then! Er, yeah, uh, also if you could, like, not tell the monks about where I’m from that would be awesome too.”
“Do they not know already?” Gaara asked with pinched brows.
“Nah, it took me a long time to escape that dumb temple so I don’t really make a habit of telling anyone that’s where I’m from.” Naruto scrubbed nervously at the back of his neck. He could remember the monks whispering when they thought he couldn’t hear them and the word ‘keeper’ had been tossed around more than once. It wasn’t anything they ever called him to his face, though, so he’d never put two and two together. Was that why they hadn’t wanted him to leave?
“Very well. Until I have answered your questions I will keep my own council on this. Come, we will retire to my personal chambers. This will be a long conversation and I would prefer to be comfortable.”
The man had barely finished speaking before Naruto was hopping up on to the dais and gesturing to be led away. “After you, then. Gosh I hope you don’t just invite everyone in to your room willy nilly. You know you’re hot, right? A guy might get the wrong impression!”
Somewhere in between laughing and trying to cover the hope in his words Naruto was delighted to see a blush spread across Gaara’s cheeks. Whether or not he understood all the answers he was about to get to questions he had even known existed, there was at least one good thing bound to come out of this adventure so many had tried to talk him out of. If he hadn’t come here then he never would have met Gaara and, judging by the considering looks coming his way, Naruto was pretty sure that Gaara was as happy as he was to have this unexpected chance.

darling dearest, i am in need of some advice and you were the first person i thought to ask (your fanfics are so deep, you have unrivaled wisdom. also you are an adult, which is very useful right now)
so, acting means a lot to me. in fact, it means the world. one of my first coherent sentences as a baby was, "mommy, i want to be on tv," so of course i developed an interest in theater.
it's my first year of high school, and my first thespian convention, and it's 500 dollars. for some context here, my parents had their first kid in high school. my mom never graduated, my dad joined the army instead of going to college. and then they had four more. on top of that, my dad's retired so we're all around dirt fuckin poor hahah. in other words, no one in this family has 500 dollars to send me (except for my middle sister, but that really is too much to ask for).
except for me! i had the money! only, it's in my college fund (which is 660 right now, no one set up a college fund for me as a baby--i only started saving two years ago). like i said, we're dirt poor and no one has the money to put me through college. my sister is a lawyer and has been practicing for years, and is still 200,000 dollars in debt from student loans. i'm having to rely on being smart to apply for scholarships and grants, and if i'm really special, i can get into harvard for free. which is such a huge deal, and one i'm kind of counting on.
even if i don't go to college, i need the money for when i ditch my home state and live in the big city for my big shot at being a successful actress. i can't do this every year. i've already decided to drop cheerleading and adv math next year so i can get a job (i'm not allowed to get one until i can drive). but i don't know if 3yrs of work will even be enough if i want to do normal teenager things and still go to college. chances are, i'm not getting into harvard, much less for free. i'm not gifted like i was as a little girl, and i think the stress would be too much. my mom says she'd help but she's saving for her own house and already getting me my own car, and she doesn't have money either. i don't think i can ask her for that.
thank you for even bothering to read this, thank you times one thousand if you respond.
Goodness lovely, I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this. This is such a big burden to carry and I know it must be really intimidating to think your future is restricted because of money. But take a deep breath, we're going to talk about some things, okay? I'm still new to being an adult myself, I'm in my final year of uni and money is hard.
So first let's talk about this $500 for your Thespian Convention. First, if this is a school event, a lot of schools do wave or reduce fees like this for families that can't afford it. They also may offer scholarships. I would look into seeing if that's possible, but otherwise let's talk about covering that cost from your college fund. I'm assuming from your language that you're American, which means that if you're earning the federal minimum wage (7.25/hr) it will take 60 hours of working to pay that off. That could take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month to work off if you're working part time, so you need to ask yourself if you feel like the thespian convention is worth a month of work that you could be putting towards your college fund. (Also, I know you said you can't get a job until you can drive, but maybe see if there's anything local you can do for extra money, like maybe tutoring or babysitting?). And if you can't go to this Thespian Convention, see if theres a less expensive alternative you can pursue.
Another important thing to consider is that, if acting is definitely what you want to do, you don't need to go to college to be a successful actor. Leonardo Dicaprio, Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, there's plenty of major A-list actors that skipped college alltogether to pursue their careers. Here's a list. And if going to college is something you really, really want to do, you also don't have to go to college immediately after graduating high school.
This is something they didn't push a lot when I was in high school, and this would have been mind blowing for me when I was a freshman. In my high school going to college was like the expectation for families that could afford it. And they also offered great support for struggling families and first generation students. But I did something super unconventional for my town and I took a gap year. And that gap year changed my life. So my love, you don't need to worry about 3 years being enough time to do normal teenager things while working your butt off to pay for school. You can give yourself as many years as you need to get that money together, or to pursue your acting career or both. College is ready for you when you're ready for it. There's no set timeline. And I wish they told high schoolers that more often. I wish I was told that sooner.
But let's say that you really want to go to college and you really want to go as soon as you graduate high school. That's totally fine too! Let's talk about your options. Getting a full-ride scholarship is competitive and a lot of pressure to put on yourself. I say go for it! Go for as many as you can and apply for every scholarship available! But also give yourself the breathing space to think about other options. This is a list of no-loan colleges in the US. These are schools that will meet 100% of your financial need if you get accepted. Now the tricky thing is you still have to pay for your EFC (estimated family contribution) and sometimes your FAFSA (federal application for student aid) grossly overestimates how much your family can actually contribute. But it will definitlely eat a big chunk of that money away and there are still loan and scolarship options for that remaining sum. Also when applying for these schools a lot of them do offer an application fee waiver for families that can't afford it.
There are also loads of private scholarship available options from various companies. Talk to your high school counsellors, they *should* have great resources for finding this kind of stuff. I wish I could remember where I found all of my scholarship info, but it's been almost 5 years since I've done that research. I think maybe fastweb was something I found useful? And I also found this website and this website after a cursory google search just now. I'm sure you'll find good sources too! Freshman year is not too early to start applying to private scholarships. A lot of them are directed at seniors, but there are all kinds and sometimes they're just fun contests with small rewards, but it all adds up!f
You can also try killing two birds with one stone! See if there are any acting jobs available either in your local area or even just online! Maybe set up a fiverr and read scripts for people, or see if you can work as a counselor for a theater camp in the summer. My first job was as an acting job as a dancing penguin at a local summer festival when I was 14.
Okay and now I feel obligated to tell you something. You don't need to go to college in the US. This probably sounds outrageous as a freshman, it definitely would have to me. But I'm literally typing this from where I now live in the UK, after taking that gap year and realizing that american school is ridiculously expensive and way less cool than european schools? Do your research, there's lots of options available to you and the US is not your only one. I've saved loads of money going to school here and I'm happy as a clam. Here are some fun links.
Anyway my love, I know that was a lot of information and I'm sure none of it magically solved your problems or took that burden of your shoulders. But take a deep breath. Everything will happen in its own time and there will always be opportunities for you to pursue being an actor. There will also always be the option to decide to go to college at any point in your life. The biggest and most important thing is to just not give up. Focus on the here and now, focus on your grades, and the rest will follow. You got this, I know you do. And please, always feel free to come to me with any questions or even if you just need to rant in my inbox, I'm here <3

Interim Fic: Chaldea Commons
I finally finished it! This is pretty short, around 2000 words, but it was still fun to write! And it sets up something that’s going to basically be a central location for future slice of life stuff, so... Yeah. I hope everyone enjoys this!
I’ll be doing Orleans next, so look forward to that!
“Please tell me there’s something for me to do today,” I sigh, leaning on the wall just outside the command room. It’s been almost a week since we finished up the summonings, and while getting to know all of the Servants has been interesting… I can only sit around chatting and reading and asking things and such for so long before I start to feel like I’m procrastinating.
“Nope~!” Da Vinci responds. “We’ll let you know if anything pops up!”
I sigh again, pushing away from the wall and starting to head back to my room. “Thanks.”
With nothing to do, my mind races in circles, trying to identify anything worth doing. Gather more materials? I already spent most of the morning doing that. I checked the logs. I’ve got more than I’ll probably need until the next batch of Servants gets summoned. More practice fights? That’s a bit useless when I already know how to use all of my Servants.
Something. There’s got to be something.
I’ve already read through the books I borrowed. Should I get more? That’d be redundant. But what if in the next singularity I end up needing specific knowledge on a field of magecraft I didn’t refresh my memory on? Well I mean, it’s possible. Not likely, but possible.
How many fields did not read up on? I can’t even remember at this point. Probably only 1 or 2. Let’s put that on the back burner for now, we can always ask for info over comms while we’re on the field, right?
Okay, so, no point to fighting, no point to reading, what else is there?
“Senpai?” I’m snapped out of it by Mash, who I hadn’t even noticed. “Is there… A reason you’re standing in the hallway staring up at the ceiling?”
“...Not really,” I admit. “But I’ve got nothing better to do at the moment.” I glance around the hallway to find it just as empty as usual, before turning to Mash. “You got anything interesting going on?”
“Actually, I was looking for you, Senpai.”
“Oh? What for?”
“There was a place you didn’t see on the tour I wanted to show you!”
“Sounds great, what direction?” I reply, immediately feeling less tired.
“Uh… this way,” Mash says, and begins walking the way I assume she must have come from.
We walk through the halls, none of which look any different from one another. Despite having been given a tour after Fuyuki, I still get lost at least once a day while looking for a specific room. I’ve got no idea how the rest of the staff seems to know where everything is… And from what I’ve heard, it seems like the Servants agree with me.
It would be easy to deal with if people tended to get lost in a predictable fashion, but if someone gets lost, it seems like you’re more likely to get lost yourself than to find whoever was originally lost. “Uh… Where are we going Mash?”
“There,” she says, pointing to a large set of double doors at the end of the hallway. The walls right in front of them aren’t like the rest of Chaldea - instead of the pristine white walls, they’re hewn from rock, as though the passage was carved out of the mountain Chaldea sits on… It probably was.
Mash pulls open the doors, revealing a huge cavern with stone walls, illuminated by balls of light floating near the ceiling. On the other side of the room, part of the cavern has been further sculpted to form a sort of stage. It’s mostly empty, with the exception of some folding chairs in the corner, a cart with a projector on it, and what appears to be a drag-down projection screen attached to the top of the stage area. There are several other doors around the edges of the circular room… They probably lead to all the empty housing quarters or the labs or something.
“This was Chaldea’s assembly room before… Before Fuyuki. There isn’t really much use for it anymore, so I was thinking we could turn it into some sort of common area, since Chaldea doesn’t have one at the moment.”
“That’s the best idea I’ve heard all week…” I say quietly, gazing around at the lights, and the sheer size of the place. “What did you have in mind?”
“Oh, uh, well, I was thinking that maybe we could carry some couches in from some of the staff lounges that aren’t being used at the moment, and look through the storage closets for blankets and such, and see if we could find anything else after that.”
I start bouncing on the balls of my feet. This is just what I needed.
“All right then, let’s get to it!” I say cheerily. “It’s make-a-big-cave-a-hangout-space-time!”
As we’re walking over to the first lounge area, I start sorting through all of the ideas suddenly flooding my brain.
“We don’t have like… A board game closet or something, do we?”
“...Board games?”
“Mash, don’t tell me you’ve never played a board game.”
“I’m sorry to say I haven’t, Senpai,” she responds.
“Okay then, we’re fixing that, one way or another. If I have to storm into Da Vinci’s workshop and demand Monopoly or Sorry or whatever, so be it.”
“...What?” Mash asks, clearly a little lost.
“Don’t worry about it for now, it’ll all make sense once I take care of it. And it’ll be fun! Probably. It could also be frustrating. But it’s both! I should see if there’s a way to get video games… Does the internet even still work?”
“In here, Senpai,” Mash calls, opening a door into a small lounge area. For the most part, it’s just as bare as the other rooms in Chaldea, but along one room is a single couch, big enough for maybe 4 people at most, with teal cushions. “We’re going to have to carry it, is that okay?”
“Actually… That might be a bit of a problem,” I reply.
“Why?” “I… How do I explain this? I’m weak, physically. And not just, like, compared to a Servant. By human standards, I am not the person you call when you need help with hard labor. I can try, I guess, but I doubt I could lift something half as heavy as this…”
“All we can do is try,” Mash says with a smile. “My strength as a demi-servant can hopefully allow you to carry one end.”
“Hopefully,” I reply. “Should I walk backwards when we’re carrying it? I’d feel more confident with you navigating.”
“Sure thing, Senpai!”
Picking up the couch isn’t easy, that’s for sure. In the beginning, Mash is able to pick her end up off the ground quite a bit, while I can barely lift mine more than an inch. After lots of scrambling and trying to use my legs and back to lift it more, I eventually get it such that I’m more holding the couch than lifting it, which is still difficult, but at least it’s off the ground now.
I walk backwards out of the room, letting Mash direct me instead of constantly glancing over my shoulder. After just 2 corners, we have to stop to put the couch down. My arms feel like they’re on fire, and my legs are already starting to get sore. My back isn’t exactly happy with having to stay arched while carrying it either… This would be so much easier if we had a third person or something.
“How many of these were you planning on moving?”
“Well, I was thinking we could start with 5, and move more if things start getting crowded?”
“I don’t think I can move that many…”
“Do I even want to know why there’s a couch in the middle of the hallway?”
I look up to find that, somehow, despite the sheer size of Chaldea, Caster has stumbled into the same hallway as us.
“I’m saved!” I yell, jumping up off the couch. “Well, maybe,” I add, sitting back down as calmly as I can. “I can’t carry this anymore, please bail me out, Caster.”
“Where are you even taking this?”
“There’s uh, this cave, at the back of Chaldea. We were gonna move couches and stuff there so it could be… A common room or something? I dunno,” I explain through a yawn.
“Eh, I can get behind that,” he responds.
“Senpai, do you think you can navigate for us, then?” Mash asks.
“Uh… sure. Yup. Definitely.” How the hell am I supposed to find it when everywhere in Chaldea looks the same?
Surprisingly, after getting us severely off track and running into the windows, I manage to get us back to the assembly room, where we set the couch down roughly in the middle of everything.
“Great, now we just need 4 more of those,” I say. “Roughly. And then it’s time to figure out what else we’re stuffing in here. But… There’s gotta be a faster way to do this…”
“We have all day, Senpai,” Mash reminds me.
“Not if we’re playing Uno later, we don’t. I know what we need to do.”
And that was how I found myself storming into the command room and demanding the right to use the intercom.
“Eva, you’re not supposed to be in here,” Roman reminds me.
“I know, I know, I’ll only be a second.” I grab the microphone and start fidgeting with the controls, trying to figure out how it works.
“Just let her,” Da Vinci says. I can practically hear her grinning.
“Why should I? The last time we let her back in here, she didn’t leave for 6 hours and no one else was working because she was doing the work of practically the entire command room.”
“I know that glint in her eyes. She’s got an idea~”
At that moment precisely, I can hear the air fill with a slight static. The intercom is on. I let out a cheer, and the entire room jumps from how it echoes throughout the building. Perfect.
“So uh, I didn’t really have a planned message for this, but I figure that everyone should know… There’s this big assembly room in the back of the building that we don’t really have use for anymore, so we’re turning it into a common room for people to hang out in. But it’s gonna take forever if almost no one is working on it. So, now everyone knows… And uh… Yeah. Just find me or the room or something and we can let you know what we need help with, and if we’re lucky we can finish before tonight and play Uno! Thanks everyone!” I flip the switch I’d hit a few seconds before, turning the intercom off again.
“That was all I needed!” I say, running out of the command room, just as promised. “And Da Vinci! I left a list of games on your desk that I don’t think Chaldea has lying around! I hope you don’t mind making them if you have time!”
 “No problem~!” She yells back.
I get lost at least 4 times over on the way back to the new common room - if only I’d run into the windows at the edge of the building again, it would have been so much easier. Why can’t there be landmarks to make navigation easier? Maybe that’s the next big project. Put decorations in the hallways to make them distinguished from one another.
I stash that idea in the back of my mind to write down and bring up later.
But by the time I do find the room again, surprisingly, the other couches have already been moved in, along with a few armchairs. Mash is stashing blankets in some storage containers along the wall, Caster and Saber are carrying huge stacks of pillows to set down on the newly placed furniture, and Rider is directing Emiya and a staff member in carrying an empty bookcase across the room.
“...What did I miss?” I ask. “How long was I lost?”
“Only around 20 minutes, Senpai,” Mash says, walking over to me. “Things sped up a lot after you asked for help.”
“Yeah, I guess they did… Did I mention, by the way, that this was a really good idea and I’m probably going to be forever grateful that we did this?”
“No, I don’t think you did, Senpai. But I’m glad you think that.”
“It just kinda… Already feels more like home.”

Under the Lamppost
A/N: HAPPY FILI FRIDAY FRIENDS HAVE SOME FILI FLUFF! YAYAY! Hope you guys are having a great day. In honor of this being the last Fili Friday before Christmas, I wrote another little holiday piece and got all the info from the great dwarrow scholar from this link here. Please go check it out and give them some love!!They deserve it! Hope you guys enjoy this story.
Pairing: Fili x Reader
Word Count: 2,635
Warnings: flufffffffff
Summary: (Y/N) and Fili spend the day in the market hiding from Kili so they can find him the perfect Yuleblot gift.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Fi, have you seen (Y/N)?”
Fili turned to see his brother racing through the corridor. “No. Haven’t seen her all day.” Just then, he heard a small scraping sound against the stone floor. He turned in time to see the hem of a familiar looking skirt disappear around a corner. He didn’t quite hear Kili’s reasons for searching for (Y/N) as he snuck down the hall and poked his head around the corner. “Oh, there you are. Ki-”
Before he could finish, (Y/N) yanked him toward her, out of Kili’s sight.
“What are you-”
“Shhh!” she threatened, pressing a finger to his lips. She closed her eyes to listen for footsteps. Only when she was sure there weren’t any coming their way did she release Fili and the tension in her shoulders.
“Why are you hiding from Kili?” Fili asked.
“I’m not hiding, I just don’t want him to find me.” She smiled at Fili’s raised brow. “I need to go to the marketplace alone today. I am running out of time to get Kili’s Yuleblot gift and if he finds me-”
“He’ll want to come with you and you won’t be able to surprise him with the present. I see.”
They both froze against the wall at the sound of clanking boots but it was only a guard walking by. Fili nodded and (Y/N) gave a small wave, hoping the passing dwarf wouldn’t think too much about her and the prince hiding in the dark corridors.
“What are you going to get for him?” Fili asked once the coast was clear.
She groaned, setting her head against the wall as she said, “I don’t know. He is surprisingly hard to shop for. I can’t just get him his favorite candies and he already has his beloved bow. No other weapon would ever compare to that. Do you have any ideas?”
Fili gave a sad smile. “I gave all my ideas to Dwalin and Thorin.”
(Y/N) felt her stomach twist. Gift giving was not supposed to be this stressful. She looked up when warm fingers squeezed her hand.
“You’ll find something.”
“Will you help me?” she asked. Before his nose could scrunch up she said, “I know you hate the marketplace this time of year but I really need your help. Please? I’ll bake your favorite cakes for you? All you can eat for the rest of Yuleblot.” Her pleading smile pushed at her cheeks, rounding them out and pushing into her soft eyes. “Please.”
Then Kili called for Fili. “Now I lost my brother too,” Kili mumbled loud enough for the pair in hiding to hear.
(Y/N) was running out of time. She took both of Fili’s hands in hers and brought them up under her chin, giving him the best pout she could muster. “Please,” she mouthed.
Fili rolled his eyes and sighed. “I will meet you at the marketplace,” he said, peeling his hands from hers.
“Under the big lamppost. I’ll go straight there.” She whirled and flew down the corridor before again disappearing behind a corner.
“Fili! Brother!” Kili yelled, voice echoing off the stone.
“I’m right here,” Fili said, stepping out where he could be seen. “I thought I saw (Y/N).”
“Did you?”
“No. It was, uh- It was Mevine, actually.” Fili’s eyebrows danced. He knew he was an awful liar, but all he had to do was get his brother off (Y/N)’s trail to the marketplace. Surely he could handle that. “They look alike. From a distance. From the back.”
“No, they don’t. Mevine and (Y/N) couldn’t be more different. Mevine is much taller and her hair is the complete opposite shade of-”
“You’re right. My mistake,” Fili said, clearing his throat and pointing behind him. “I’m just gonna go-to my… chambers.” He faked a yawn. “M’tired. Need some, uh, time to myself.”
Kili’s brows shot up as his brother backed away. “Time to yourself?” His brows waggled as he looked Fili up and down. “In the middle of the day? Who got you going?”
Realization dawned on Fili and he scoffed. “Mahal, Kili, not that! Not anything like that. I just-I have some work to do. Get your mind out of the swamp!” He waved Kili away and turned for his chambers, waiting in the shadow of a dark corner until Kili vanished through the wooden doors to the kitchens. Then he scurried past to meet (Y/N) in the marketplace.
He found her at their usual meeting place and led her through the busy market with a hand on her back.
“That was quick,” she said, eyeing him with a raised brow.
“I’m a master of deception. I just told him I needed some time alone in my chambers.”
She snorted at that as they weaved through the mass of dwarfs in the center square. “I’m sure I know right where his mind jumped to when he heard that.” She squealed when Fili’s tugged on her braid.
“No wonder you two are thick as thieves. You’re a mind reader.”
“Not when it comes to buying gifts!”
“That’s why I’m here,” Fili said, running a thumb over the fabric of her dress as he moved her in front of him to squeeze past a cart full of smelly cheeses.
Once in the clear, (Y/N) waved to the older dam who ran the best sweets cart in Erebor. “I’m coming to you on the way back, Miss Diyla! Save me some of your caramels, please!” She turned to Fili who was close behind her in the crowd. “Some for Kili, some for me,” she winked, sending her escort chuckling.
“Have you looked here?” Fili asked, stopping at one of the smaller tents. “Kili likes the wool they use for their warmer clothes.”
She ran her fingers over a thick winter hat with runes embroidered into the band. “I was looking at this but-”
“You got him something similar last year,” Fili finished for her.
“Right. And he has that scarf your mom made him and the leather gloves from your uncle. I really like these wool things for him but he already has his favorites that he wears.”
Fili hummed, wishing he could swipe the frown off his friend’s face. “Let’s go to the next tent. We’ll find something.” He stepped in front of her and took her hand so as not to lose her in the rush of Yuleblot shoppers. He felt her thumb absently run over his knuckles and he looked over his shoulder to see her staring up at the named flags over the tent.
“Oh, let’s go to that one-” Her voice cut off as she tripped over a short, immobile stake in the ground used to hold the market’s tents in place. Her shoe caught the head of it, making her jerk to the side and rip her skirts. Fili saved her from falling to the cold, wet ground and swiftly placed her back upright.
“Are you all right?” he asked.
“Yes. Thank you. I-I should have been watching where I was going.” She rambled to keep his attention away from her now tattered dress, but when she flicked the skirts to the side, he noticed the tear. “I was saying we should go to that tent over there. The third one down? They have the most intricate weapons there.”
“We’ll stop at Mother’s dressmaker first,” Fili said, letting (Y/N) take the lead to the next tent, but she waved him off.
“A tear is easily mended, Fi. It’ll be done in a quarter of an hour.” She tried to pass the dressmaker’s but he herded her inside.
“Or you could spend a quarter of an hour choosing a new dress. Wouldn’t that be more enjoyable?’
“Not for you,” she said. But he saw her giving in to him and running her fingers through the fabric pieces hanging down the middle of the tent. She always gravitated towards red, as he did.
“Nonsense. Mother spends a lot of time here, I’m used to it.” He left her to browse and chatted with his mother’s friend, always keeping an eye out and remembering what (Y/N) seemed to like. Smiling, she lifted a gown from the rack and pressed it against her shoulders, twirling a bit to watch the skirts fan out around her legs. But then she replaced it and gave him a pleading look.
“Really, Fi, this is unnecessary. I still need to find a gift for Kili.”
Fili threw his hands up in defeat. “All right. Go ahead, I’m getting something for Mother here. I’ll just be a moment. I’ll meet you in the next tent.”
“The third one down,” (Y/N) said, shooting him a knowing look. Fili was an awful liar.
“All right, all right,” he said, waving her off and hoping she’d actually leave. Then he turned to the dressmaker, asking her to wrap up the gown (Y/N) had been looking at, as well as the knitted shawl she’d admired on her way out of the tent.
When he joined (Y/N) again, he found he leaning over different sets of decorated arrows. He set a hand on her back to alert her of his presence and she glanced up with a smirk. “What did you pick out for your mother?”
He swallowed. Why could she always see right through him? “A, uh, shawl.”
She straightened. “Oh? What color?”
“None of your business.” He elbowed her and she descended into giggles. “What are you looking at here?”
She sighed. “I don’t know, Fi. These arrows are so beautiful. See the etched runes and symbols? They’re gorgeous, but I don’t think he’d enjoy them. He wouldn’t be able to use them. They’d just sit on a shelf in his chambers.”
“He’d treasure anything you gave him. He’d think of you every time he looked at them.”
“I guess that’s true.” She picked up one of the arrows and tilted it in her delicate fingers. They were handmade, able to be customized. She could get the royal runes and crests on them and look into getting a display case made…
“Mahal,” she heard Fili breath out. He was around the corner of the tent, admiring a set of daggers on the top shelf. He didn’t need much encouragement from the crafter to take one in his hands and watch the sunlight glint off the sharpened blade. (Y/N) met him and rested her chin on his shoulder, humming softly. “I know a certain dwarf in your life who would enjoy these,” he said, tilting his head down to her.
“I already got your gift, Fi.” She took the dagger from him, running her thumb over the hilt. Then she handed it back and whispered, “And it’s even better than that,” before sending him a wink and returning to the arrow display.
She pursed her lips. “I’m just not sure if these are the best things for him. Maybe we can- what? Fili! What?”
“Be quiet!” Fili whispered, grabbing her and whisking her through the tent and around the back of it. “We’re not here!” he said to the crafter before ducking down below the shop’s desk and taking (Y/N) along for the ride.
“What is-” but a finger stopped her lips. She realized why Fili dragged her out of sight when she heard Kili’s voice. He was speaking to the crafter. “Did he see us?” she mouthed.
Fili shook his head, trying to hold back his laughter.
(Y/N) shook her head, biting her lip and not quite believing how Kili managed to track her down. She adjusted her seat on the ground, feeling something against her back. She yanked it out and could have screamed with joy! She shook it wildly in Fili’s face. “A quiver!” she whispered. She’d have a new quiver made for Kili. A stunning, handmade, intricately decorated quiver that he would use every day. “This is perfect!”
Then Fili froze. Kili’s voice was coming closer. (Y/N) turned to see a lanky shadow growing longer on the ground and panic filled her chest. Kili was going to find them and his perfect Yuleblot surprise would be ruined. But Fili caught her attention. He waved to her, silently beckoning her to follow as he crawled into the tent and under the display tables. Somehow, they both fit under the table, (Y/N) lying on her back with Fili just above, each barely breathing as Kili’s voice sounded only inches away.
Teeth flashed above and (Y/N) rolled her eyes at Fili’s breathy chuckles. “The things I do for you two,” she said.
His dimples pushed deeper into his cheeks at that. But the corners of his mouth slowly relaxed as one of his fingers pushed a loose lock of hair from her forehead. Her hand found his arm and his, her waist, and he leaned down until she was just a blur. Then he closed his eyes. But before their lips could meet, Kili was saying goodbye to the crafter.
“Prince Kili is gone,” they heard from above and both knew it was time to leave. (Y/N) had found what she was looking for.
It didn’t take long for her to tell the crafter exactly what she wanted for Kili’s gift. She was told it would easily be done by this time next week- perfect timing for the merry days of Yulenkagr when most exchanged their presents.
“Today seemed a success,” Fili said on their way back to the mountain.
“Almost,” (Y/N) said, weaving through the buzzing crowd of dwarfs until she stopped under the tall lamppost.
Fili looked at her with raised brows and a tilted head that reminded her of the dwarfling he used to be. “Almost?”
She snuck a hand around his waist and reached up to kiss him. Though she tried to hide it, he noticed her trembling fingers. “Now I’d call it a success,” she said. She backed around the lamppost but before she could escape too far, Fili grabbed her and kissed her much more passionately. He ignored the gulps and whispers around them, trading them in for (Y/N)’s own little gasp that was followed by a content hum. He couldn’t help but smile around her lips when her fingers gripped the fur of his coat and pulled him closer.
“This is your ‘me time?’” Kili’s voice sounded.
(Y/N) drew away, blushing, but Fili kept his arms around her. He wasn’t about to let her go now.
“Is this why you two have been avoiding me all day?” Kili asked.
“Not avoiding you, Ki,” (Y/N) said.
“We kind of were,” Fili said with a half-smile that lit up one of his dimples.
Kili widened his eyes at that.
“Only because I had to get you the best Yuleblot gift ever given,” (Y/N) said, sliding out of Fili’s grasp, but taking hold of his hand. “And we were just about to stop at Miss Diyla’s. I asked her to save us some caramels. Wanna come?”
“Duh,” Kili said, linking his arm in (Y/N)’s free one and leading the way to the candy cart. “So what’s the best Yuleblot gift of all time?”
“You’ll find out on Yulenkagr and not a moment before.”
They didn’t even have to tell Miss Diyla what they wanted from her cart. She knew them well enough. All three watched carefully as she filled too many bags for Thorin’s standards, but they all agreed he’d never have to know how many coins they spent on their treats. It was Yuleblot, after all.
“So does my gift involve a kiss too?” Kili asked. “Because as much as I’d enjoy it, I don’t think Fi will want to share you now.”
On cue, Fili’s arms encircled (Y/N)’s waist from his place behind her and his chin landed on her shoulder. “Nope. Not sharing.” He kissed her cheek as she laughed and elbowed him, but he knew she secretly agreed with him.

Rewatch: Mahou Tsukai Precure Ep 3
Tumblr media
Hey hey hey~!
I made it to Sunday with another MahoPre post again! Praise me, won’t you?
*bows extravagantly* ( -∀-)シ
ALSO, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL YOU GREAT MOMMIES OUT THERE!! WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT YOU?!  (。^▽^。)/ ♡
Yaaaaa, you know the animation quality really went up when not only the new transformation sequence was top notch but the episode it debuted in was as well. Really! Everything was so sparkly and purdy~
Like Mirai and Mofu-chan’s excited faces, kyaaaaa~! xD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ahem, so we start off with Mirai calling home and let’s just say she’s very lucky it was Grandma who picked up.
I don’t know how long Mirai’s been gone but judging by how Grandma’s first question is about Mirai’s search instead of asking where she is right now, maybe she hasn’t been gone too long to raise any alarms yet.
In any case, the beginning of the phone call was hilarious cuz though Grandma shares Mirai’s belief in witches and magic, I’m pretty sure she never expected for Mirai to be contacting her from another realm, much less hear that she’s become a witch herself.
She’s like “Huh? Wut?” xD;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there’s Mirai. Oh god, Mirai.
She really is the type to spill almost every detail out in a jumbled manner and gesture frantically on the other end of the line even though there’s no way her Grandma can actually see her, lol I do the same thing when I talk over the phone
Meanwhile, Headmaster and Riko are just standing awkwardly in the background, watching this girl play charades in front of a crystal ball.
(^ ∀ ^ ;;)
Tumblr media
Anyways, despite all the rushed explanations, Mirai wants to attend class here and asks for permission.
Naturally, any normal parent/guardian would say “no” because first of all, what the heck is she going on about? Flying brooms? Magic World? WAT? Did you hit your head while playing or something?
I mean, even the most understanding person would just assume Mirai found a new friend at the playground who introduced her to some secret hangout or whatever and that Mirai just wants to stay out longer to have fun, that’s all.
But nuh-uh! Mirai’s really in the Magic World right now and she really wants to enroll in magic school for the rest of spring break!
Tumblr media
Miraculously (and again, she is so lucky it was Grandma who picked up), she does get the okay.
Grandma actually believes Mirai will be alright with these strangers in some foreign place she’s never heard of. She’s never met them, there’s no address or even a phone number she can call to check up on Mirai. For all she knows, her granddaughter could’ve been tricked and kidnapped by some shady hoodlums.
But over the phone, it doesn’t seem that Mirai is any danger...and since she sounds so eager, well then, alright. Grandma chooses to trust Mirai.
Tumblr media
Cue joyous, major squee-able hug! <D
But on a serious note, PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW THIS IN REAL LIFE, OKAY?!
(O_ O ;;)
It’s somewhat forgivable in an children’s anime where things are more idyllic and even Mirai’s situation is an exception among exceptions because of plox.
But if your kid is asking to stay out in some vague location with people who don’t have your trust to look out for their well-being, then you get in your car or call the police or do whatever’s necessary to bring them home immediately!
...come to think of it, I wonder how Mirai’s parents reacted when Grandma told them the news. By the time Mirai got back home, they seemed pretty cool with it but Mirai should’ve at least called them every day (off-screen) to ensure she’s alright so that they didn’t have to worry a lot while she was away.
I dunno, please don’t mind me too much on this matter. I'm just very sensitive when it comes to the safety of children, that’s all. The news and living in the city scared me into being cautious.
Tumblr media
Honestly, I wouldn’t mind becoming an Uber driver as long it’s a magic carpet I’m flying.
But I’m not sure what the insurance policy on that is like and it doesn’t look like there are seat belts either which is a tad bit concerning. Hmm...
Tumblr media
Bouncy-wouncy flippy-floppy Mofurun~!
Look at this happy bear~! She’s having the time of her life!
Ugh, my heart~!!! x3333
Tumblr media
I believe this is the first time Mirai’s had the chance to tell Riko something about herself and it’s quite nice that Riko was the one who (sorta) initiated the interest this time around.
We all know what Riko’s like. She’s not fond of people being too chummy with her because if they get to know her, they’ll learn how bad she is at magic as well. That’s why she’s always trying to maintain a distance. Trying not to interact with others too much and not volunteer too much info about herself so she can uphold an image she doesn’t really possess and protect where she’s most vulnerable. Tsundere defense mechanism in the works.
For her to reach out to Mirai, even if it’s only out of some courteous small talk and minimal curiosity, maybe it means she’s gradually becoming more comfortable. At least in Mirai’s company, there’s no need to have her guard up that high and she can talk to someone normally for once.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mirai, on the other hand, is the honest type through and through and is thrilled to share anything about what she loves.
Her bright, sincere personality and close relationship with her grandma shows how well she was raised because no matter how wild or out of this world Mirai’s thoughts can get sometimes, those closest to her never ridiculed or made her think less of herself for that. That’s why she’s almost always able to face anything with open optimism. She’s free to be unapologetically herself because she has that kind of reassurance.
It’s a security that many people would die to have.
Tumblr media
And Riko is one of those people.
Listening to Mirai talk warmly about her grandmother brings a slightly lonely expression to her face because Riko doesn’t have anyone like that. No one whom she can talk to about anything and everything, no one whom she can show her true self to without fear of being judged by them.
No one to call a real friend.
Well, guess what, Riko? Ya got right one in front of ya, dont’cha? Hahaha~!
She just doesn’t realize it yet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moving along, damn, the whole island is occupied by magic merchants and their shops!
Diagon Alley can’t even begin to compare!
Yep. If there’s any Precure universe I want to live in, it’s definitely this one! 8D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the center of the giant square, of course there’s a statue and of course there’s a story to go along with it and of course, there’s an old man (by the name of Mr. Hook) just waiting to tell that story to whoever’s new in town.
Nevertheless, this story is a rather interesting one in respect to the Linkle Stone Ruby that’s set to appear later.
The Merchant Alley is where people gather to sell their trades and goods. It’s a place where they can share the work they’re proud of and passionate about.
And Ruby is the Linkle Stone of what? Passion.
So the Passion Flame was pretty much the Linkle Stone Ruby all along and it returned to remind the people of the magic they still have within themselves.
This slightly debunks the idea that the Linkle Stones will only appear when Precure do but it doesn’t change the fact that Ruby’s true form didn’t manifest until Mirai and Riko came to the Alley.
Anyways, on another note, isn’t it an extremely heartwarming thought that even though Mother Rapapa has been gone for centuries, her magic hasn’t disappeared and that it still extends itself to help people when they’re in need? Even now, Mother Rapapa still loves and wants to protect the world she defended with her very life which just goes to prove that the most ancient and most powerful magic of all is indeed, love.
Love never dying means magic never dying.
Aaaaahhhh~, that’s so beautiful! *sniff* <’D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aww, but I wanted to hear about Pegasus Lane!
( •́ ∧ •̀ )
Tumblr media
Ok, ok, maybe some other time.
At least we got Riko taking Mirai’s hand to lead her away instead. Me is a happy gurl~ <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then Mofurun says she smells something sweet and duh, it’s clearly Ruby sitting in the statue’s lamp but they don’t know that yet so they all assume it’s just the cotton candy from a street vendor near by.
Well, their reaction was adorbs anyway.
D’aww, omgawd, look at Mirai, trying to tug Riko in the direction of sweets and Riko having none of that. Kekekeke! xD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok, before we go in, I just want to say that I adore Francois and all the fabulousness he’s packaged with!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But more than that, I love how he’s always so kind to people who visit his shop, especially the girls. He’s always eager to give them the best fashion he can offer and since he learned his trade in the Mundane World, it’s probably safe to say he isn’t at all prejudiced against anyone from there either.
But also, also...!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He knows how to recognize CUTE when he sees it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh yea, Francois is my spirit animal.
Poor Mofurun, though. She looks so traumatized. xD;
Tumblr media
My daughter is soooooo cute! Don’t you agree?
*pokes you in the back with ten needles* (*°∀°)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Man, if I could do magic......I would probably still go out to buy clothes instead of making them myself. It’s less about not having the talent to design and more about gathering the material that would be a pain for me. I’d rather leave that to the professionals.
That said, since it’s magic we’re talking about, I hope retail prices are a lot lower over there since production requires less manual labor. Or should it be magical labor?
Well, it takes less time if an outfit can be fitted and finished within the hour so that’s a plus at least.
Tumblr media
Mmhmm. *nods appreciatively*
I wasn’t lying when I said this uniform is one of my (if not the) top favorite school uniform designs across all Precure seasons.
The colors, the plaid bows, and ugh, the HAT!!
...I wanna be a witch, too. TwT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, Francois is just one of the best recurring characters. Period.
He’s so thoughtful, going the extra mile even when he doesn’t really have to. He’s not in it for the famous name or money, he just wants to make sure his clients look good and feel good looking good.
What an artisan!
(Btw, Mofurun still uses the same pouch when Mirai grows up and I just find that so awesome because they’re continuing to treat a gift from Francois with such care~ <3)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, fixing a loose button is a small task. Hardly worth mentioning but with Riko falling so often (*discontent Riko noises*), you’d think Francois would be exasperated about her always ruining her clothes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nope.
He just goes and sews it back in place without charge, gently telling Riko in his own special way for her to be more careful.
Riko doesn’t miss the sentiment behind his words and really, you’d have to be blind to not see how all the people Riko knows really care about her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
More locals to meet and this one is Todd and he sells produce!
Not much to say about him other than he’s a nice dude, offering Mirai a sample of what a Frozen Clementine really tastes like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
lol, oh Riko, don’t take it so personally. These things happen. <D;
Also, that’s two strikes for Riko today. I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole town was aware of how clumsy she is.
At least, none of them are mean about it or deliberately poking fun at her. Riko’s just a little too sensitive is all.
Tumblr media
Again, the shifts through Riko’s many faces when eating clementines are fun to watch.
It’s okay, Riko! You’ll get there eventually!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wouldn’t put it past an eccentric, old man like him to do something like that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, I’m positive that the Headmaster’s character is partially inspired by Albus Dumbledore who also fits these kind of descriptions so yea...
Tumblr media
YEA.
Meanwhile, I am living for the savageness that Cathy is unrepentantly laying on the Deputy Headmistress concerning her stickler-policy/no-outsider opinions.
Nothing against the Deputy Head since she does come around eventually but hell yea, Miss Sassy Crystal Ball! xD;
Tumblr media
Next up is Gustav’s, where Mirai gets her own broom!
God, I love this broom so much. It’s simple but so charming!! Perfect for a young witch!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nooooooo, Riko-chan~
That’s not what she meant! (^ ∀ ^ ;;)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ooo, that’s three strikes now!
Riko really can’t catch a break, huh?
Tumblr media
I wonder how many times everybody in town has heard this reply, lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y’know, these shopkeepers have known Riko since she was little so for them to comment on Mirai accompanying her today just further supports the idea that they’re always watching out for her however they can.
Riko’s an awkward kid who’s trying too hard to act and see through the eyes of an adult and that’s why she blunders so much.
But perhaps, if they were to point that out too directly, it’ll just make Riko feel more ashamed or make her more stubborn than she already is.
If that’s true, then I’d like to think they all agreed to just give Riko her space and let her grow into it in her own time. They’ll still support her every now and then (because she needs it) but they won’t overdo it to the point where she’ll notice and misunderstand it as an remark on her poor skills in magic.
Anyways, at least Gustav seems happy to see Riko’s finally got a friend to spend time with. As much as Riko’s unsure about calling Mirai her friend, no one’s going to deny that Riko not being alone anymore is a good thing for her, hehe~
Tumblr media
They got to eat cotton candy, after all! YAY~!
Gotta say, this might just be the best way to eat cotton candy cuz it just levitates a little above your hand and you don’t have to worry about holding onto a stick and then the candy melting onto the stick and your hands getting messy cuz of that and whatnot.
Also, it really makes it look like you’re munchin’ on a cloud. Cute, right? :D
Tumblr media
So far, Mirai is having a superb day. She got the whole magic user starter kit and it really feels like she’s become a witch now.
Tumblr media
But as Riko says, it takes more than just looking the part to be a genuine practitioner of magic.
I wonder if she realizes how contradictory she sounds here because if she knew that all along, then that would label her search for the Emerald as hypocritical.
Tumblr media
Though it’s possible she only realized this after coming back from her recent trip to the Mundane World empty-handed.
Still, there’s no doubt the Emerald’s profound and mythical qualities would be desired by many, including those who are efficient in magic. Nobody is really sure what it’s capable of but since it’s reputed to be the rarest and most powerful of the Linkle Stones, we can at least expect it to live up to its name in some way.
And when Riko overheard the Headmaster talking about it in his office, well, who can really blame her for shooting off to go find it then?
If anything, had she found it, Riko probably would’ve used the Emerald to figure out why her magic seldom worked out the way she wanted it to. Then from there, she’d do whatever she could in her own power to make herself a great witch.
...Maybe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mirai, however, is more impressed by how brave and aggressive Riko is on fulfilling her dream.
In fact, she’s more amazed by Riko than the Emerald itself and doesn’t think her search for the Emerald sounds ridiculous at all.
To her, Riko is a hard worker and she should be acknowledged just for how much effort she puts into becoming a witch worthy of respect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But when she asks what Riko means by stuff like “excellent” or “splendid”, even Riko’s not sure.
Of course, even if you have a good amount of magical prowess, that doesn’t automatically mean you’re a great magic user.
Rather, it should be how you use your magic that determines whether you are great or not.
I guess that’s why Riko suddenly turned that question back on Mirai. Because as of this moment, she’s only looking for ways to cast her spells without them backfiring on her. She hasn’t given much thought on what she can do with magic once she does have it in her hands.
Riko doesn’t have an answer yet. And because she doesn’t want to appear like she doesn’t, her walls go up again in an attempt to prevent anyone else from realizing how unsure she actually is inside.
But you know what?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mirai’s not sure about her own dream either.
She’s never thought of it before now and nothing really comes to mind just because she’s asked out of the blue like this. However, that doesn’t really bother her.
It’d be awesome if one day, she can find something to dedicate herself to like Riko does...but until then, there’s no need to rush or stress it. If she’s meant to find it, then she’ll find it eventually.
Having a dream should be a wonderful thing, after all. It’s not something you must have but something you want, something you choose to pursue.
I believe that’s what makes Riko so special in Mirai’s eyes. Because despite all the doubts and hardships that come with it, Mirai can tell Riko truly cherishes her desire to become a fine witch some day.
If she didn’t, Riko wouldn’t have needed to try so hard. But she did and is still trying because she really wants it. That is what earned her Mirai’s admiration.
Tumblr media
Not sure if those feelings reached Riko but at least it seems that she knows Mirai respects and understands her to extent in that regard, which then draws out a smile from her as well.
Cuz c’mon, it’s just nice to talk these things out with a friend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s right, they’re definitely friends now.
They’re laughing together and the atmosphere is very light and pleasant and happy.
Just look at Mofurun, the perfect mood indicator. If that’s not enough to show how well our girls are getting along, then I don’t know what is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ugh, unfortunately if there’s a good mood going on, a mood ruiner is never too far off.
This time it’s Sparda and she introduces herself by stealing Mirai’s Diamond pendant. *GASP* BAD! >:(
Demands are made for the Emerald’s location, Mirai loudly defies the villain again and villain decide to wreck things as a response. Yada yada yada, same old, same old.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Except with them missing one Diamond and unable to transform into Precure, they really can’t do anything to stop Sparda.
As the situation becomes grimmer, so does the anger start to build within Riko as she surveys the damage of the town.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We even get a mini-montage of a younger Riko (OMG ISN’T SHE THE SWEETEST LIL’ WITCH-IN-TRAINING?!?!? KYAAA~!!! xDD) on her first time visiting all the shops, essentially telling us how many important memories she’s made here and how much the people who helped her mean to her.
Tumblr media
This finally, finally makes her blow her top.
How dare this cretin selfishly trample all over the innocent people trying to do their daily jobs peacefully! How dare this insect woman make a mess of their community, a place where everybody works so hard to support each other, without remorse!
That is absolutely unforgivable!!
...but at the same time, Riko releasing her anger is just what they needed. Her feelings are now fully synchronized with Mirai’s...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...which causes the Ruby to awaken and reveal its true form to them.
Hmm, this is really fascinating because we can interpret it to mean that passion, the idea that the Ruby represents, is linked to many emotions and not just a strong sense of love towards something.
Or you can say even “negative” emotions like anger or sorrow can also be proof of a very strong love.
Considering that rage and passion are often symbolized through flames and fire imagery, I’d say that the connection between those two is really appropriate for these turn of events.
But moving along...
Tumblr media
THE BIRTH OF RUBY STYLE~!!!
(⋈◍>◡<◍)。✧♡
I’ll go into my thoughts on this design another day but ahhh, I do so love this Form Change to death. Have a hard time deciding if this is my top favorite among the MahoPre forms.
Tumblr media
As for the battle, well, sad to say this one wasn’t worth writing home about either. And I think the animation quality dropped a little around this part of the ep. Not sure why there’s a sudden inconsistency when there wasn’t that much “fighting” going on.
But again, I’m not here to write about the battle scenes (until maybe post-Felice debut), which are more or less the same anyway so I’d just be repeating myself if I were. I’m here for the chemistry between the girls, the character studies and so on.
Some key highlights, though, because I couldn’t ignore them:
Tumblr media
Mofurun catching the Diamond back like one would catch a home run ball.
I’M SO PROUD OF YOU, MY BABY!!!!!
x3
Tumblr media
This kick.
This kick is everything.
Miracle and Magical grabbing each other’s hands to help propel their feet at the Yokubaru.
And then the ice thawing immediately upon impact, a call out to the Frozen Clementines they always eat and further demonstration of symbolism of passion through fire because heat melts ice.
Looks like this might’ve been the first time Riko was successful in using this type of magic. Too bad you can’t really eat it. But not that you’d really want to, lol
Tumblr media
Then Ruby Passionale and another day saved.
Yay~

And now everybody’s witnessed the legend in the flesh!
lol, Miracle being polite to the crowd while Mofurun is trying to hide her face ("No pictures, please-mofu!”) and Magical is so close to freaking out cuz they gotta get outta here before their transformations become undone and their true identities are found out and ohhh, we don’t want to stick around to find out what that’s gonna be like......
Tumblr media
...so they leave by leaping to the rooftops.
Classic.

Goldilocks and the Giant Wizard
A Tale of the Mystic Woods
(safe/soft GT vore w/fearplay)
Premise: The Giant Evil Wizard Yonah HaEsh has a uninvited visitor to his tower, and she’s quite the troublemaker. I worked a lot of silly lore into this one.
**Content Warnings**: The titular Goldilocks lives! Do not worry! But there is minor skin irritation/burns (multiple factors involved). Descriptions are not graphic but are intense. Also Yonah briefly considers killing her (but not digesting her alive, he would never!). [please message me for additional info if needed!]
Goldie’s POV is 1st person, Yonah’s is 3rd.
----
So.
Hi.
My name is Zahav Goldstein-Goldbloom. But most people call me Goldie. It’s great to meet a fan! Oh? Are you not a fan? Surely you’ve heard of me. I’m a pretty awesome adventurer if I do say so myself. And I do. Say so. All the time. I am brave. I am strong! I can run for hours! I am resourceful! And I always come out on top… always… well. Except for right now. Right now I am…
FREAKING! THE! FUCK! OUT!
You will never guess where I am. (Or maybe you will, given fairly universal theme of the author’s blog).
I’m in the stomach of a giant! Who is also a wizard! What’s up with that? Giants can’t become wizards!
Yeah. I was eaten. Gonna die soon. That sucks. A lot.
It’s terribly smelly and terrifyingly dark in here. I briefly took out a light stone but that was worse. The horrible angry pink walls… the slimy mucus… the acids that I’m sitting in… I would rather not watch my own demise. But don’t worry, I’m not going quietly! I’ll scream my loudest up until the very end! This I swear. And I can scream very loud. If you’re worried that I’m using up my air faster: better to pass out and not die painfully right?
There’s no point in telling me that I shouldn’t be complaining, or that adventuring is far from safe. I know. I know. It’s super duper dangerous and adventurers die all the time but I never figured it would happen to me! I always do everything right. So how could this have gone so wrong? Must have been something. I should have just enough time left to reflect.
How about we start at the beginning. Not of my life. As exciting as my entire life is, or… was… I don’t think I have time before well… you know. My skin is already feeling a bit tingly. That’s probably a bad sign.
Anyways! Let’s start a few days ago. When I entered a rather mysterious forest.
—-
The day had been pretty darn great so far! I broke a curse put upon the charming town of Shevana. I guess I did a really good job since they carried me out on their shoulders! Singing my praises! And gave me a nice reward. They told me that I’d done such a good job that they never needed me to visit again. I waved to the crowd as I walked down the road into the bright sunny day.
Ugh. I’d forgotten how boring this part of adventuring was. Travel. Walking. Just me and me thoughts. For hours. So many hours.
I wish I’d stayed in town awhile longer. They gave me some gold but didn’t give me any food for my journey. And you can’t eat gold! Unless maybe you’re a lava snake. But I’m guessing you aren’t since they can’t read. Can’t really hold books in molten coils.
Usually I manage to find something, a stray fruit tree, shoot a rabbit. However I saw no such things on the side of the road! Not that I was concerned. One day without food could not worry me.
But that one day became two. And on that second evening I came to a forest.
I figured I could find something to eat in a forest! Right? Berries at the very least. Countless people have told me to be careful about eating plants I’m not familiar with but I’ve never had any problems.
I didn’t expect the sun to set so fast. Nor for it to start raining. I could barely see three feet in front of me let alone forage for sustenance. What I needed was shelter. Warm and dry shelter. Hell I would take a hole in the ground!
That’s when I spotted it: A hole in the ground!
Right between the roots of a small group of trees growing on a sizable mound of earth and rocks. And it was very dry, the earth inside covered in a soft moss! Finally things were making sense again.
One thing was missing: warmth.
What I lacked in food I made up for in flint and tinder! Miraculously still dry tinder thanks to my awesome waterproof bag that I got from a witch. I offered to return it after I was done with my quest but she wouldn’t let me near her hut and insisted I leave and never come back.
So I lit a small fire.
That’s when the rumbles started.
That’s when I found out that this wasn’t a mound made of earth and rocks.
Well it was made of bears. Large, no-longer-sleeping bears.
Made of earth and rocks.
I was able to get out of there and make a run for it as they disentangled themselves, the roots of the trees had grown deep and I could hear them ripping out of the ground as the beasts roared.
Miracle is an understatement. I shouldn’t have gotten away from the bears. I couldn’t actually run since I couldn’t see even if when the rain stopped. I collided into every thorn bush and tripped on every rock and root. From behind me I could hear them, they were getting closer. Surely at their size they could reach me in just a single bound!
And then I didn’t hear them! I also felt really nauseated as I stumbled into a clearing.
Not a true clearing. It wasn’t an empty meadow. From what I could see it was a garden, and possibly a small orchard? The sky was still dark with clouds. Thankfully The plant beds were spaced very far apart; not the most efficient use of space. And no, I didn’t pick any fruits or vegetables! This is clearly a magical garden! I’m not stupid. I don’t know what gave you that idea!
Fine! I took some apples! They smelled normal enough, and I’m not cursed or anything. Plus I was thoughtful enough to carve the adventurers symbol for “safe” on the tree, to let others know.
After that I just wanted to be out of this rain, out of the dark. And I was still hungry. Apples aren’t very filling.
There was a light!
Shining from the window of a tower at the opposite end of the clearing. I could not believe! And even better, the tower was covered in strong vines, miraculously free of moisture and easy to climb! With the prospect of a roof over my head, I had the strength to make my way up.
That fall from the window into the tower should definitely have broken a few bones.
This was no ordinary tower. It was magical. And whoever lived here was… well giant isn’t the right word. I’ve seen giants and they are about 40ft tall, this isn’t nearly big enough. I’ve heard stories of smaller varieties of giant but none from this continent. Perhaps some really large ogre lives here? But what ogre needs a magical workshop?
I should have maybe, maybe, just waited for whoever lived here to show up, because they weren’t around, and there was a freshly burning candle on the desk.
My hunger having been momentarily abated with apples and distracted by my curiosity, I climbed up on to the desk.
Wow! What treasures! Magical gizmos And whatchamacallits And doodads And doohickeys, And thingamabobs! I wanted to play with each to find out what they all did! And there were books! So many books and scrolls and bottles full of who knows what! I almost did, when I spotted the letter.
Whoever lived here must have left suddenly, for at the edge of the desk was a piece of parchment shiny with ink, and even though I could not read the writing, it was clearly an unfinished letter.
I tried to skim some of the books only most were in languages I couldn’t read. And they hurt my eyes.
It was time to continue my explorations. What I needed to find was a bed, or something suitable as a bed. And if I was lucky, something to eat and drink.
From my vantage point on the desk I could see an open trap door with a staircase leading down into the dark. There weren’t any other exits aside from the window so down I went.
Climbing down giant stairs is not fun. And I didn’t fancy having to climb back up. Hopefully I would find food and be recharged by then. Wow I was hungry.
Was that? That smell. Savory and meaty! Food! A doorway appeared on the wall of the stairwell, which led into a kitchen. There was no way I could prepare food here. Thankfully the table was set for dinner! And with the serving being so large, surely I could take some and it wouldn’t make a difference.
Ow!!! The soup, which had been luke warm, burned my mouth! I’d never eaten anything so spicy in my life! Ow ow ow!!! I reached into the goblet for handfuls of what I figured was water. But it wasn’t. Whatever it was it was sweet and bubbly, and it soothed the pain so I drank more.
No more soup for me, but there was a small, relative to the rest of the place, loaf of bread. A personal sized one. If said person was a few stories tall. It was as large as a bolder with a nearly rock hard crust to complete the illusion. I had to use my knife to carve into it.
The bread wasn’t spicy, it was full of raisins and nuts! Regular sized ones. Delicious! I ate my fill, and had more of the sweet drink before continuing my quest for a bed!
Woah!!! I almost fell off the table. I must’ve been really tired, the room is spinning a bit. But I was fine. I didn’t fall so I was fine! In fact I felt GREAT! I used the chair to get back to the floor and back to the staircase. No way was I getting up it. That way lead to the workshop, I only made it down one floor. So down I must go once more.
This time I found a living room. It was lit by a roaring fire in the hearth. There was a couch, an ottomon, and an armchair.
I tried to climb up onto the couch but it was too far off the ground. I used my grappling hook and it snagged the upholstery but as I tried to climb it just ripped down. I tried again with the same result except my hook got on a seam! It wasn’t far enough up so I left it there.
The armchair was the better bet, I should have inspected all of my options rather than just heading to the first thing i saw.
A large blanket was draped over the chair, tassels reaching the floor, and I was able to climb up. I couldn’t pull the blanket up to wrap myself in it, but beggars can’t be choosers. The Chair was very soft all things considered, though the fabric of it and blanket were rough, it was enough of a bed for someone as tired and small as I.
I promptly went to sleep.
—–
Fuck. That was. Not fun. Bruised and bleeding, he was looking forward to getting back home. At least the storm had passed and the early summer sun was rising. Well, he deserved to sleep a day and a night for this. And get a handsome paycheck. The king was damn lucky to have him at his beck and call! He had postponed dinner to finish writing a report when he got the call too! Now he would have to write a second report!
Finally he stepped over the stone path of his garden, careful not to slip as his shoes were covered in mud. At least he wasn’t tracking blood anymore. Not much at least.
What?
As he passed by his dancing sunflowers they bent towards him. They shouldn’t be active this early in the morning, even in summer. Was something wrong? Were they sick?
All their faces were turned in the same direction. He crouched down to their level (about 4 meters). Their attention was on the apple trees. That’s when he saw it.
One of the trees had been vandalized! Some sort of symbol carved into the trunk. He didn’t have a hope in finding the person, but he wrote down the symbol just the same. He needed to know what it meant. He didn’t want his tower being marked by some guild or cult.
Irritation pushed away some of his exhaustion as he Leapt up to snag the tower windowsill. His wounds stretched and blood trickled out again. He landed in his workshop with a muddy, bloody, thud. Maybe he could finish off the first report after all. Future him would thank him and-
The report was covered in footprints! The not yet dry ink had been tracked all over his desk! He held the now ruined report under the magnifying glass.
Human shaped.
A thief most likely. If they were so foolish as to still be around (and judging by the lingering scent of human, they were), they just won themselves a ticket down his throat. And if they were very lucky, because Yonah was now in quite a Mood™, it wouldn’t be one way.
It took a lot of focus to make his way silently down the stairs. He wanted to stomp and scream, to be monstrous, but that would give the thief warning. Give them a fighting chance. They did not deserve that chance.
Using his nose he followed the smell of the human to the kitchen. But he did not find them. Instead he found his now cold dinner.
Which the human had clearly helped themselves too! Did this person lack manners? Just, eating off of someone elses plate! Or rather, bowl? There were dried splashes of soup and mead all over the table, and his bread had little holes carved into it. What kind of person did that! Was this even a thief?
That didn’t really matter, he would eat them either way. He took a sip of the mead. Alcohol wasn’t what he needed, but it was what he wanted. Mmmm, it tasted better than he expected. It tasted like…
Had the human just stuck their HANDS INTO HIS CUP? He wasn’t grossed out. It’s not like he bothered to wash the humans when he swallowed them whole or anything. It was just so weird!
Tasted good though. It made him excited to eat the real deal.
Maybe a change of clothes first? And a bath? His current adornments were getting crusty and smelled horrible. So was he. The wounds had dried into the threads and pulled with every movement. Then again, he probably looked really scary. He couldn’t even imagine the state of his hair.
As he passed through the living room to the bedroom he had a strong urge to pass out on the couch and deal with all of his problems when he woke up. He caught himself unconsciously taking a few steps towards it.
That’s when the scent of the human caught his attention once more. And something else caught his eye.
Something was off about the couch. Inspecting it he found it had been torn! The stuffing spilling out and a small hook stuck in the fabric. First his report, then his bread, now his couch! This thief’s chances of survival were dwindling by the minute.
No time to change his clothes he was going to find the human before they wrecked anything else!
Oh. They were. right there. Sprawled out, halfway under the blanket on his armchair. Sleeping. As peacefully as one could be. Not for long. But he did not want to wake them just yet.
He sat down on the ottoman and leaned forward.
The human certainly looked like a thief. At least, she had adventuring gear. Not all adventurers were thieves but the ones who entered his tower were usually there to steal.
Her shining golden hair made of large curls was impeccably clean and fell across her face with perfect delicacy. Her golden-brown skin was free of blemishes, though her cheeks were flushed, the scent of alcohol lingering on her. She was beautifully innocent looking. And he was furious.
Was she not a thief? Thieves may be foolish but they didn’t break into his house to eat his food and drink until they passed out.
Then he spotted her knife and ink stained boots, about a meter from her head, tossed aside.
He took a deep breath, filling it with rage and fire.
Ouch! What was that! A blast of hot steam?
I woke up to find a very angry giant man in wondrously patterned robes standing over the bed, eyes angrily aglow. As my vision focused I saw that the robes were torn in several places and dreadfully bloodstained. So was the man, and he was still bleeding out of a few wounds, in particular a nasty gash on his left cheek and a black eye to go with it.
More hot breaths growled forth.
Well I am nothing if not polite. Even to grumpy people. I sat up, yawned, stretched a bit, and cheerfully greeted this giant man.
“Hello! I’m Zahhava Goldberg-Goldstein, adventurer extraordinaire! you call me Goldie! What’s your name?”
I held out my hand and smiled. No one can resist my smile.
—-
That’s all she had to say? He pushed the fire in his eyes to grow more intense. But she just continued to smile. Her huge golden eyes sparkling with irritating innocence.
“I don’t believe you’ve earned that information.” he growled and she blinked, “What the fuck are you doing in my tower?”
She considered for a moment, “Sleeping? Well I was sleeping. Boy does one get tired without a steed! I should really get one! And I call myself a hero! Wow You have really hot breath!”
Crossing his arms Yonah let out another snort of steam before he straightened up and leaned back.
“Do you always break into people’s houses?”
The human spoke with her whole body, wild motions that Yonah suspected some people had been in the line of fire of.
“I- there wasn’t a door or anything! Quite perplexing, but i’ve heard of towers like this before. Tricky stuff, but I’ve handled worse. Never met a vine I couldn’t climb, and the window was open!”
“Can I assume those are your footprints smeared across my report to the king?” It did not escape Yonah’s notice that she didn’t actually answer his question.
“Is that what that was? It was in a very strange language, it looked similar to dwarvish. Is that the language of this land? I must have crossed a boarder… I only ventured two days from town..”
Guess she didn’t read giant. Thankfully the king did, and let him write reports in his own language. And again… not actually an answer from this little, absent minded, egotistical, delectable, thief.
“Is this yours?” He held up the hook.
“Oh yes! Thanks so much for getting it loose! It was stuck something fierce wasn’t it!” She held out her hands but he only grinned, used the hook to pick his teeth and tossed it into his sleeve. Her smile wavered only briefly.
She still had not apologized.
“And you who poked little holes in my bread and drank my mead?” Yonah’s left eye twitched.
“I was hungry! After not a bite to eat for two days I Couldn’t believe I found such a bounty. Did you make that bread yourself it was incredible! The soup was way to spicy though, nearly burned my tongue off!”
Yonah raised an eyebrow. So not a thief? Just a poor lost soul? A bit of his anger subsided as a hint of pity grew within him.
“Before I got here I found this hill see, I was trying to get shelter from the rain. There was a small cave so I went in! But then… the Hill… it turned out to be made of bears! And- YIPE!”
Out of nowhere I was pinned under his right hand and smoke started billowing out of his hair; the roots of which sparked to life. We had just been talking! Having a nice conversation, what could have prompted this change?!
His face loomed over me, smiling. Not a kind smile either. Why was he smiling? He was clearly mad! Oh what had I done?
Now scalding spittle joined the breath as he shouted at me.
“IT WAS YOU!”
I didn’t respond. I couldn’t! He was crushing the air out of me and I struggled my hardest to get his hand off.
“YOU’RE THE REASON I WAS CALLED AWAY FROM MY DINNER TO PACIFY TALLEKS! DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO GET THEM TO GO BACK TO SLEEP?”
“N-no-“ I coughed, my only reward was a lungful of the hot breath.
“Ooohhhohoh I’m going to enjoy eating you!” he laughed. The unmistakable laugh of -
A villain.
This was a villain’s lair! Stupid stupid!!! Of course! The tower! The vines! The mysterious Workshop filled with bubbling noxious things in jars! The sweet, perfectly trimmed goatee this giant man had! It all added up, but all too late.
My heart stopped. Not literally but it sure felt like it. DID HE SAY ‘EAT ME’?
The hand lifted slightly and I took painful breathes.
But Before I could do anything to save myself the fingers curled around my back and I was Brought to his face. His grin stretched ear to ear and he drew his tongue over his lips.
Using the breath I managed to get, I tried my best to reason with him.
“PLEASE DONT EAT ME! I DONT WANT TO DIE!”
—-
No. Of course she doesn’t. But beaten up and oh so hungry, Yonah was not in a merciful mood.
Why should he let her live? This idiot humans had no respect for other people! She disturbed ancient spirits and felt no remorse! In fact she was acting as if she did nothing wrong!
He was done talking to her. Lowering her from eye level he pressed her onto his tongue and licked her bodily. She shrieked as she was covered in his near boiling slobber.
She tasted very very good. Her tears adding to her already savory flavor. He shoved her torso into his mouth and closed his lips around her.
The blood thundering in his ears drowned out her shrill cries, and after a few more seconds of enjoying her flavor he tipped his head back and swallowed her down.
Alive.
Yonah didn’t know why, but he decided against killing her. For all she had done… as thoughtless and worthless of a person as she clearly was, she had made no attempts on his life. She was just completely oblivious, and tactless. Not an execution worthy crime. Though… he had come very close. He almost snapped her neck when he held her in his hand. And again, almost bit down to do the same between his teeth. It would have been quick, bloodless, painless.
Neither times he did he take the opportunity. And as the struggling mass filled his stomach he wasn’t about to make her suffer a slow painful death as his meal. That was never something he could do, no matter how angry.
/Of course/ he thought, a wicked grin growing on his face as pat his stomach, making her scream and scramble /she didn’t know any of this/.
I don’t know why I continued to scream as I was crammed into the Giant’s mouth, he wasn’t listening to me at all! He was true to his word, he was going to eat me! Oh right it was because it was painful!!! Everything around me burned and I was pushed against the teeth, though the grace of a god who I could not name, I was not bitten.
Not yet.
In hindsight I should have started saying my prayers much earlier. Surely he was much too small to swallow me whole and was going to bite my head off or something. Or maybe my waist? He sealed me inside his mouth, letting my legs dangle out. The tongue was still active and shoving me into the hard teeth.
The end was surely near!
Gravity shifted and I slid down to the back of his throat! As my arms and head were pulled into the tight passage of flesh my legs were sucked into his mouth. I kicked as best I could but all I got were triumphant chuckles as my legs met his enthusiastic tongue.
Powerful rolling muscles shoved drew me down again and again! As my legs were pulled into the restricting tunnel my outstretched arms passed through a tight ring of flesh. Then my head escaped the esophagus. I took a breath and choked on the humid vomit smelling air.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
I didn’t stop screaming as the rest of my body was squished into the stomach. I didn’t stop as my face was pressed into the bottom, where a small pool of fluids was gathering! NOT GOOD! I did not stop as I hurriedly I rolled around to get my head away from the digestive juices.
There was still air. Not the most breathable, but it was air. How long it would last?
And it was even hotter in here, in the belly of the beast. I swear the pool of liquid boiled. I was thrown about, squished and shoved, as the giant laughed and laughed at my impending demise.
And it must be soon. For we are back where we started!
Me.
Eaten by a giant wizard.
And judging by the pounding on my left side, a disgustingly pleased giant wizard. I knew there was evil in the world. But it is really disheartening to know there were those so cruel that they relished in the death of others. And I was so powerless against him! I hadn’t even a sliver of a fighting chance.
I couldn’t tell if it was sweat or his stomach fluids flowing down my face, it all burned the same. It was like a boiling sulfur pool. The worst sauna ever.
ACk! Some of the fluid got in MY MOUTH!!! And the fluid level is… it’s rising. It was at my ankles when I began telling you my tale but now it halfway up my calves, and i’ve got my knees to my chest so… it’s getting worrisome. I’m done screaming. It’s not worth it. I’m sure I’ll start again once my flesh starts literally being eaten away, but for now…
“Hey!” the voice of the giant hit my already pounding ears like a mallet. Oh gods. He was gonna talk to me as I died! Did he have no respect for his meals!? Or was this respectful in his culture… I doubted that.
“Have any last words?” the chuckle shook and swirled around me.
Last words. Did I have any? Were they worth it? Just for him to hear. He knew my name but I couldn’t imagine him seeking out my friends and family. Especially since I don’t have any. Did I want the last meaningful thing I say to be for my killer’s ears only? I kinda wanted to say SOMETHING.  Through sobs I managed:
“Like- like what?” before realizing that asking him for suggestions wasn’t smart. There was a forceful pushing on my left side.
The prodding became more forceful. Helping his stomach soften me up I guess.
“Are you really THAT Dense?” his evil laughter making the offensive fluids splash my face. I would NOT show any sign of pain. Not yet. But it still hurt. Everything stung and burned like I had waded into a boiling salt sea with a million paper cuts.
“You break into my house! Fuck up my report, tracking ink all over my desk!! Carve little holes into my freshly baked bread and splashing mead and soup everywhere! Rip up the upholstery on my couch! And not to mention you Disturbed the ancient forest spirits which I HAD TO DEAL WITH! ”
“But, I didn’t realize, I didn’t mean to-” I was just trying to survive the storm! It’s not my fault. Right? RIGHT!? But. I would be angry too. If I had written a letter to my mom and someone got grubby food covered hands on it. I would be quite mad! If I had made myself a nice meal and some kid picked at pieces of it, even small ones, I would be furious! I would be beyond outraged if hmmm if some idiot accidentally summoned a demon which I had to banish and said idiot didn’t thank me or admit to their mistake… Oh. I’m the idiot. I’m the assole.
“Yes, you are an asshole. Glad you finally figured that out. I was getting worried.”
Fuck did I say that out loud? My mind must be on its way out. It is getting difficult to breathe. Wait? Why did he care? What was going on?
Man it would have just been a cherry on top of his horrible day if he released his victim without  her learning her lesson. Otherwise it would have felt like a terrible deed to unleash her back onto the world. But he wasn’t about to keep her captive. His place would be a pile of rubble in a week if she even so much as looked at his magical artifacts.
You see, he’d heard of entities such as her…
The Heedless.
Wreckers.
Agents of Chaos And Entropy.
She was clearly still developing. There was still time. Not to stop her, just minimize her catastrophes. And getting her to access her Hindsight was a step in the right direction. Now he just needed to send her to someone to unlock her Foresight. But he couldn’t think about that right now.
As he pulled her unconscious form out of his throat he saw her golden skin was now tinged red and blistering in places. He frowned; he didn’t think that he’d pushed the time limit for “unharmed” with Goldie. It had only been a few minutes.
Mucus, spit, and stomach fluids hit the counter top with a loud TSSSS; steam rose.
Ah. Those weren’t acid burns, they were… regular burns. He had been so mad, he couldn’t even begin to imagine what his internal temperature was.
He immediately dumped her body into the half full sink, while he continued to spit up more fluids. Gross. Along with the painful effort involved was almost enough to make him question why he let them live through him. Ok not really. He might have embraced being a monster, but not that much. He was still a person. And so were his victims.
He made sure to keep her head above the water, she was still breathing. She had been awake up until he spat her out. His best guess was she passed out from screaming so much. He held her gently and let cool cleansing water flow around her.
A few moments later she gasped and sat up. Then dived towards the running faucet, she had to get the fluids off of her face. And the waterfall was more forceful than the continuously draining pool.
My skin and body ached. I think this is what it feels like to be boiled alive. The ever flowing water kept the heat at bay. All I could do was close my eyes and sit there.
Eventually I opened them, through the water I saw the distorted face of the giant. Still angry. Still bloodied. Still… I was on the outside of his body again! I just wasn’t sure why.
“You can’t stay there forever” the voice of the giant came through the water.
I leaned forward just so my lips breached, “yes, I can.”
The giant’s face came close to me once more and I screamed. But back under water nothing but bubbles came out.
“No. You can’t. This is MY house, so if you stay you will become MY food. Got it?”
I fell over, cowering under his gaze, “You’re going to eat me again!” And huddled up as best I could but I’m no turtle.
“If you dont get the FUCK out of here, yes.” he bellowed, eyes glowing again. “I’m feeling generous, as well as stupid, so I didn’t kill you. Do not push your luck.”
He picked me up! Didn’t even warm me! Rude! But I didn’t dare scream or struggle lest he lose his temper with me. And he wasn’t being gentle, his calloused fingers brushing over my burns, squeezing my sides surely bruising something!
Of course it was better than being eaten! Better than being dead! Not that much, as I was shaken and swung about!
By the time I dared open my eyes we were back in the workshop. And I was dropped on the windowsill, the cool stone just barely won over the rough texture.
“Now,” his face was my entire sky, eyes two burning suns while his hands on either side. I could run, I could leave the tower. But I didn’t think he would approve.
“What do you have to say for yourself?”
Say? What could I say? I’d said everything! right? RIGHT? ...!
“I’m sorry!” I squeaked.
“What Was that? Tasty one?” A drop of hot spit landed next to my face.
“IM SORRY!”
His smile became a crescent moon before he picked me up and set me on my feet.
“There’s hope for you after all,” he said.
A part of him, and not a small part, felt a bit bad for what he was about to do. And there wasn’t time or opportunity to get it approved so he might get reprimanded. Plus it might mean he would have to see her again. But it was the only way. Ok, maybe not the only way, but the quickest way, and the sooner the better with Heedless Wreckers.
“For your transgressions I should have killed you, or at the very least made you work to repay the damage,” he tried to look thoughtful.
Goldie inched ever so slightly to the edge of the windowsill. Yonah flicked his eyes and tapped a finger so she knew he’d noticed. She gave him a guilty smile, but made no more motions to flee. Hopefully she was paying attention. This was a bit involved and Heedless Wreckers weren’t known for being able to handle complex tasks.
“Instead I’m giving you a quest!”
Out of all the things I anticipated him saying, “I’m giving you a quest” was not one of them.
No one ever gave me quests. I’ve always had to find my own. They were never as glorious as I wished. For some reason I’ve always had to give up most of my reward money or loot for “damages” or whatever. So unfair.
Fuck I needed to pay attention! If I failed he would surely eat me. And kill me this time!
“I’m in need of some hard to get spell components, including the missing piece of the spell itself. Fortunately they can all be found in th capital city. From Fowl Business Apothecary i require powdered hens teeth, 5 grams filtered through dried Red Fanged Weaver webs. I need some of those webs too, fresh.”
Oh gods this was a lot already and it was the first item!!!
“At least 6 pieces of Prickly Pear Fruit and the crystallized thorns from those pieces! Keep track of whose quills belong to who! I believe Midbar’s Emporium will have them in stock, if not they can point you to and imports market, make sure to get pears attached to the leaf, I’ll just have to crystallize the quills myself.”
What? Prickly pear? Quills? Oh he means desert candy!
“Petrified Snail Skulls, pilfered woodlouse hats, and Bottled Pygmy Goat laughter from Pixilious Proprieties.”
He stopped and considered, “you won’t have a problem with riddle solving right? Pix doesn’t let anyone into their shop without answering a riddle. Powers their magic I think. And while you can then make purchases, they will generously discount items for each additional riddle answered”
I dearly wished I could write all this down! I would never remember it. But I had no paper! No pen! No parchment or ink! And even if I did, I’m still damp.
The giant stroked its goatee.
“I should really write all this down,” he mumbled, and walked over to his desk, rummaging through the drawers, which I thought odd since it was just paper and ink right?
Then a thought struck me… I could.. Run. Right now. While his back was turned. No quest! No problems! Running is one of my special talents, it has saved me many times. This might be my only chance. But I didn’t, which was definitely the right choice as the evil giant came back, snatched me off the window sill and placed me on the desk as he finished gathering supplies.
I refrained from mentioning that I couldn’t carry a giant sized list. At least he wrote in a language I could read. Repeating each line as he wrote them; very considerate.
“Oh!” he said halfway through, “There are some more common components I’m running low on, if you can’t find them all don’t stress about it.”
His new calm, almost friendly attitude was freaking me out! Speaking as if I was his regular delivery boy, and not someone he was inclined to eat for dinner just 15 minutes prior!
“Make sure you visit The King’s Treasury first, I’ll notify them of your visit. You need a Treasury Seal to purchase things, as you won’t have the coin with you, and the merchants don’t know you and thus wouldn’t be inclined to sell you some of the rarer items even if you did. Not without considerable mark-up.”
The treasury!?
“And finally,” he looked down at me. There was more than a glint of hunger in those eyes.
“The Library. You will be heading to the Mystical Archives, they will be expecting you, but tell them your name and that you are in search of the following items: First, 27th page of the 12th book on the 3rd shelf of the nearest bookcase right of the door to the section on hyper-natural phenomenon”
“Why-?” but he narrowed his eyes. Yep. not going to question it.
“And a copy of A Nation of Ash Volume 5: Compendium of the Historical and All Too True Sorcery of the Kingdom of AniDeva in the 4th Era Following The Pheonix Storm With A Thorough Index of Relevant Spells and Enchantments By Omexaryl Othar Odelis, Grand Magister of the Realm (3rd Edition)”
Was that even a real book?
It suddenly occurred to me this could be a wild cockatrice chase.
The list was complete, and he blew on it with breath that shivered in the air, drying it instantly.
Then he folded it up, his eyes flashing orange every time he pressed in a crease. I just stood there as it got smaller and smaller until I could easily fit it in my bag.
“Don’t open the list indoors,” he said, handing it to me. I took it without thinking. “It’s not shrunken. It will fold back up itself.”
The trip back to the windowsill was only a few seconds and he did carry me. It wasn’t so bad now that he wasn’t playing the villain. He still didn’t like me, and I couldn’t blame him. We definitely got off on the wrong foot. Mostly my fault. But he did eat me…
That’s all in the past. I was ready to get on with my quest. Even if it was just shopping.
“If I may ask something, Sir-“
“Mr HaEsh” an eye twitched but didn’t flare. He hadn’t given me his name beforehand after all.
“Mr… Ha-Esh” … his name was ‘The Fire’, a bit on the nose.
“Where is the capital from here?”
My hair dried as he heaved a sigh right at my face.
“I couldn’t tell you. No, I really can’t. Just keep walking until out of the forest. Ask someone for a map or directions at the first town you come to.”
Before setting off, he gave me a satchel of provisions. I took this as a sign that he actually wanted me to succeed in my mission.
I thanked him for this chance and he just grunted. But the corners of his mouth twitched upwards slightly.
If I wasn’t on a quest I would have lingered in the garden! In the daylight it was incredible. I wanted to smell every flower, caress every leaf! Not the time.
I ran off.
—-
Finally he could breathe easy. And hope she didn’t burn down the woods on her way out. That… shouldn’t happen. The Mystic Woods was too powerful for even a developed Heedless Wrecker. It was more likely to hasten her exit, at least make that part of her quest uneventful.
Yonah would have loved to go downstairs, reheat his dinner, even drink the certainly flat mead, take a bath, dress his still aching wounds, and sleep all the rest of the day. And he would. But there were a few things to take care of.
Mainly one thing.
He returned to his desk and touched the filigree frame of the mirror and spoke.
“Please put me through to an Operator of His Majesty King Benyamin of Orr, on the request of His Royal Mage, Yonah HaEsh, designation phey-tef-dal-memi-gamil-gamil ” it was long but at least he didn’t have to make up a stupid rhyme. And Yet, if one didn’t say “please” it wouldn’t work at all. Mirrors.
It took a minute for someone to answer, but finally the familiar face of Nava Holtz materialized. Skin almost as dark as warm night night sky, and long black braids ornamented with gold and silver.
She had been an Apprentice Op when Yonah was first hired, assigned to him because none of the more senior Ops wanted to deal with the evil giant firewitch who, as far as the administration was concerned, was more trouble than he was worth. Working well with him earned her some fast promotions and Over the years he’d proven himself. Ops were less rude to his face at the very least. Nava was still his favorite, she had been so patient and kind with his adjusting to his new position.
Which is why he wished someone else had answered, he didn’t want her to deal with this bullshit. Of course, he could think of no one better.
“Yonah! It’s good to see you, oh my word” she gasped, “I heard you had to wrangle talleks.”
Actually, he was glad it was Nava, he didn’t feel up to polite formalities.
She had not failed to notice his sorry state.
“Oh, yes! Um… I’ll have the report later, you can let Marni know I got them to settle down. It wasn’t easy,”
“No, I can see that,” she said, her genuine concern was much appreciated.
In his full report he would mention how they resisted magical restrained, requiring him to physically wrestle them. With diamond claws and fangs, and jagged rocks sticking out of their fur, he was thankful to have only suffered lacerations and bruises. Once they calmed down, and thank fuck they spoke dwarvish (an ancient dialect, but it was sufficient), he burned some inscence and played a flute and off to slumberland they went.
One of them, the youngest, but the largest, wanted to remain awake. And the sleeping ritual only worked on bears who wanted it to. That would be interesting. And he should tell The King, but that wasn’t why he called. For now it sat by its parents, keeping vigil.
“I figured out who woke them,” he said, Nava’s eyes went wide, “and you’re not going to like it…”
He explained about the girl.
“Are you sure she’s Heedless?”
“Yes, I could smell it on her,”
“So if you unlocked Hindsight then…” he could practically hear her heart plummet to the floor.
“You didnt!”
Yonah grimaced, “I did… she’ll be at the treasury in a few days. The tasks I set her should help her think things through. It was a long list, she can’t wing it. And some of the items require special transport methods. She’ll have to plan. I copied the instructions I gave her, I’ll send them over. I trust you can contact the necessary guilds?”
Nava sighed, “Yes, of course. And you did the right thing. It’s just going to be a lot of paperwork.” In fact she was already writing as they spoke.
“The last thing she’ll be doing is a library quest. Two actually. Standard and Precision Exploratory. Can you put me through to Archivist Ahava?”
Nava stopped writing, “Don’t they hate you?”
“Yes,” exactly.
Nava smiled, “So you want them to deal with this. Fun. They are the best brownie for the job. Just don’t give them any grief.”
“I’ll try. And thanks, I’ll call again soon,” he smiled.
“Transferring call,” she said, smiling back, as she fiddled with her mirror set up.
The mirror swirled And went iridescent before resolving into shelves of book! Directly in view of a pile of that rose from largest to smallest.
“Oh me oh my this had better be good! I was in the middle of some important business, very important indeed!” the squeaky yet harsh voice belonged to a stout brownie with light grey-brown skin, straw like hair nearly bursting from its bun, and 4 jewel-like eyes. On their body they wore a fancy, flowing, but rather plain colored suit. And on their face they wore a scowl.
“/Yonah/,” Ahava never refused to be formal with him, and not out of familiarity. They climbed up the stack of books to sit facing the mirror.
“Ahava,”
Their lower left eye twitched as he too addressed them informally. He really shouldn’t, they were higher ranked… one of the highest ranked, Royal Mages.
“Fortune has once again done the disservice of connecting us so make it snappy, I have work to do! And what is the meaning of calling me looking like something a dragon chewed up and out”
Yonah grinned and Ahava’s scowl deepened, “Couldn’t be helped, I was wrestling Talleks. And don’t lie to me, I know for a fact you take tea at this time, for an hour.”
Two eyes narrowed and two eyes widened, their long fingers curled and uncurled.
“But I’ll get to the point. I encountered a Heedless Wrecker today, who needs to be taught the use of Foresight. I’ve sent her on a quest, and it includes the library,”
He explained to the increasingly annoyed Archivist, who was turning an amusing shade of blue.
“I cannot sign off on sending a Heedless into the catacombs! No way no how! There is not a single archivist trained to handle such things!”
Yonah raised his brows and blinked a smile.
“No no no! Out of the question! I will turn her away, yes I will! See if I don’t!”
“But I really do need that book. Otherwise I’ll have to come myself.”
That earned him a glare from all four eyes. Yonah could see the gears turning in their head. Thanks to his status as a dangerous magical entity, he had to be under escort when visiting The Archive. The King required Ahava to be that escort. It was either him or Goldie.
“I gave her a list of items to get for me, several of them are actually for her use in the catacombs’ challenges.”
All but one of the eyes closed as Ahava crossed their arms, taking deep breaths.
“Fine, I’ll do it. I got nothing better to do, and it’s been a while since I went on an adventure. Now, I must get back to my tea. Yes I must”
They disconnected without another word.
It would take at least a few days for Goldie to reach the capital. He had time to take a bath, eat, and change into a soft nightgown before using the Magic Pantry to send the quest details to Nava.
Along with a loaf of bread small enough to share with the entire Ops Team.

Desert Heat Chapter 5
Ch 1 | Ch 2 | Ch 3 | Ch 4 |
A/N Hello friends am back i swear. I lost a lot of momentum on this fic due to personal reasons / school / life, but I think I’m back for good this time. I promise.
Digging had halted at the House while further notes and sketches were taken of the lower level. John had come up with another handful of papyrus he’d found buried in the corner. These were much more fragile than the ones he’d inherited, and Claire immediately set to work preserving them in the resin of Lamb’s own recipe. She remembered spending many painstaking hours of her childhood making this same thick, sticky brown substance. The bottle she was currently working out of had the stylized “QLB” in the corner of the label, signified it was made by Lamb himself. Perhaps it was one of the last ones to be so. Her eye kept catching the letters in the bottom corner and she smiled a bit every time she saw it. He was still helping in his own ways.
She was sitting hunched over the table that functioned as John’s desk when a book being placed next to her elbow made her jump nearly clear out of her skin.
“Och, sorry lass.” A strong hand had found her back and she looked up to see the voice belonged to Mr. Fraser. Was it night time already?
“What have you got there?”
Claire blinked and shook her head slightly. “Papyrus, John found it under the House.”
“Preserving it are ye?”
She nodded.
He chuckled. “I can sympathize, manys an hour I lost to painting over bits of paper and paint.” He examined what she was doing even closer. His arm was still in the sling she had applied and she took a sort of pride knowing that he had listened to her advice to rest. “How is it that ye’re applying the resin?”
She held up her pinky finger to show how red and dirty it was. “After nearly destroying one with a brush, I found a more delicate touch did the trick.”
He looked impressed at least. “How many have you done?”
“Five, this is my last one.” She took a moment to stand. “It’s all the standard cartouches, at least according to my eye. I could never do much without Lamb’s notes to guide me.”
He smiled secretly at her. “Funny you should mention that.” He tapped the book he’d set down on the desk and Claire looked at it.
It was strange, the things you remembered. A stack of books delivered to the house when she was a child; people approaching at the museum with a sparkling look in their eye, a tome tucked under one elbow; the plain black spine with gold lettering sitting in a pile in her own tent. Mr. Fraser traced the letters on his copy of Path to the Ancient Ways by Dr. Quentin Lambert Beauchamp with familiarity and reverence.
“It’s a pity you couldn’t have met the author,” she said. “He was always happy to meet his audience.”
“Ah weel, ‘tis probably best this way. I dinna think I could bear to see my idol as a mortal man, ye ken?”
“Idol?”
Mr. Fraser met her eyes and nodded. “Aye.” He tapped the cover of the book. “When I was a lad, I was hungry for knowledge.” He gestured broadly. “No doubt ye ken the feeling. I was determined to read every book in my parents’ library.” Claire settled into the chair. She’d always loved a good story. “Now, that’s well over a thousand books, Sassenach. My family has been building that library since before they built the house.”
“I see your family has their priorities in order, then.”
He glanced up at her and nodded with a proud grin. “Aye, always loved a good book, my father. Anyway, I read and I read. Books about animals and philosophy, the latter of which I dinna understand a lick of, and then I came upon this book.” He tapped the cover once again. “And I stopped looking at anything else.” He opened up the cover and thumbed through a couple of pages absentmindedly, lost in memory. “Ye could barely catch me without it in my hands or my bag, damn near ruined my copy.”
“It looks alright to me,” Claire said, inspecting the book. Other than a few wears and tears, the book looked to be in good condition.
Mr. Fraser smiled. “This is my second copy. Damn nuisance trying to find it, too. I scoured every bookshop, old and used, looking for this book.”
Claire snorted. “You should’ve contacted us, we have probably a hundred copies.”
He nodded. “I never understood why it didna sell so well. Ye’re uncle was a genius.” Claire nodded and smiled. “Yes, he was. They just didn’t understand him.” Her smile turned sad as she looked back up at her companion. “And I saw what it did to him, how it stifled and disheartened him. I knew what he was.”
Mr. Fraser nodded. “As do I, Sassenach.”
They were soon interrupted by John coming back into the tent.
“How goes the preservation?” he asked.
Claire showed him the papyrus and explained her progress and theories. John nodded and smiled when he saw Mr. Fraser’s book.
“Thanks for the sentiment, Fraser, but you should’ve known we’d have a copy of our sacred text or two.” John pulled out his own copy of Path to the Ancient Ways. “Wouldn’t be good followers, if we didn’t.”
They shared a laugh.
“I do appreciate the help, though. And you have mine should you ever require it.”
Mr. Fraser nodded. “That is related to what I have to tell you all today.”
Claire remembered his outburst the day before, having nearly forgotten about it.
John nodded. “Yes, you’ve had your 24-hours, and then some by my watch. What do you have to say?”
Mr. Fraser looked as if he was choosing his words very carefully. “I would like to, first, apologize for my behavior from the day before. Ye have to understand, this Season has been very strange. We had been all set to dig at Dashoor, I had prepared everything for excavating the pyramid there, including bringing on Miss MacKimmie. And we get to Shepheard’s and Dougal tells me that we are going to Behribu? I was in shock. I was completely unprepared for this excursion, and I’ve found myself quite idle ever since we started digging.”
“So you have no idea what MacKenzie is hoping to look for?” John asked.
Mr. Fraser shook his head. “If there is a plan, he hasna shared it with me. That, in itself would not be such a change, I’ve gone behind his back to Column a time or two to get things I needed and he is none too pleased by this. But this is different. He’s planning something.”
Claire and John looked at each other and back to Mr. Fraser. “What does that have to do with the writing we saw yesterday?”
Mr. Fraser ran his good hand through his hair, the russet curls standing on end in his frustration. “Ye’ll think me daft.”
“We already do,” John pointed out. “Out with it, already.”
“Before we left, Dougal had made the... acquaintance of a woman very interested in Ancient Egypt religious practices. Not in an academic sense, mind you. She believed she was a Pharaoh’s wife reincarnated.”
“Which one?” Claire asked with a laugh and John scowled.
Mr. Fraser shook his head. “I didna ever listen to her long enough to find out. But I did catch enough to hear her hypothesis about-” He stopped himself, as if once he spoke the words, they would legitimize whatever daft theory this woman had in mind. “ Time travel. ”
He glanced up at the two other adults, who were staring back at him intently.
“Does Dougal believe her, you think?” John asked. “That’s why he took the site, that’s why the writing we found in the House scares you?”
Mr. Fraser rubbed the back of his neck. “I dinna ken what to believe, if I’m being honest. I just feel, somewhere deep inside me, that this canna be a coincidence.” Mr. Fraser had always looked so put-together, Claire had noted. But now, he really seemed to be questioning his very sanity. And though the notion seemed quite extraordinary, he said it so incredulously that she couldn’t help but believe him. Or, at least, believe that he believed it.
“But it could be,” Claire stated. Both the men looked at her with startled expressions. “I do not doubt your story, Mr. Fraser. But, well, you yourself think this woman Dougal knows has crazy ideas. Maybe the writing is graffiti like John said. It could be a coincidence.” Claire crossed her arms over her chest. “Afterall, are we really debating the existence of time travel?”
“I think what we should do is assume everything is alright until we have something better to go on,” John suggested. “Fraser, what did your team find recently?”
Mr. Fraser looked up to John. “How did ye ken we found something?”
“We guessed,” John said, looking over in the corner where Fergus and Miss MacKimmie were engaged in their own deep conversation.
He nodded. “Another stone, in the very middle.”
“Quite the find.” Claire nodded with John. Claire had predicted as much in her own research. In many circles around the world, there was a middle stone. That should’ve been my discovery, she thought with a snarl.
“As Claire says, it could be nothing. We’ll gather any info we can and regroup. Fraser, I’m game to start on these papyrus tonight if you are.” John moved to the desk, moving one of the chairs from the table so that he and Mr. Fraser may sit side-by-side.
“I think I’ll take that as my cue,” Claire said. “Good luck to you both.”
“I’ll see ye to the door, at least.” Mr. Fraser did and they paused in the entrance to the tent.
“What’s troubling ye, Sassenach?” he asked, no doubt from the look in Claire’s eye. She had always had a hard time keeping her thoughts to herself. The moonlight stretched across the desert and illuminated Mr. Fraser’s face. He looked thoughtful and slightly worried for her, stranger as she may be to him.
“Things are not turning out like I had anticipated this season. First Lamb and now-”
He nodded and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. “Ye’ll get through this, I ken it. Ye needn’t be worried or scairt, so long as I’m with ye.”
“And what about after?” she asked. “I don’t even know what is after this.”
“One step at a time, Sassenach.”
"You keep using that name, what does it mean?”
Even in the moonlight, she could see him blush, as if he hadn’t even realized he was doing it. “Och, just a wee nickname is all. It just means ‘English’ in the Gaelic, ye ken? Seeing as we’re pretty much divided according to Hadrian’s Wall here in the middle of nowhere.”
She chuckled and moved to go to her tent. “Goodnight Mr. Fraser.”
“Goodnight, Miss Beauchamp.”

Y/N's Point of View~
We have probably been laying down for a while. I tried to get up but Ranbob still held onto me. I smiled knowing he tends to be really clingy on me.
"Ranbob I need to get up." I said.
"Few more minutes. I don't want you to leave." He said nuzzling my neck a little.
"We can't stay like this forever you know." I said lacing my fingers through his hair as I stroked it a little.
"I know I just don't let go off you just yet." He said still holding onto me.
I decided to give in and stay like this for a few minutes. I continued to stroke his hair more until I heard him purr which made me giggle as I continued to stroke his hair as he continued to purr. I learned this about him like the last time I visited and it was pretty surprising.
"Sweetheart... please stop..." I heard him mumble and I knew he was feeling embarrassed by this considering he finds it embarrassing when he purrs like a cat.
"Come on! It's adorable when you purr like a cat!" I said as moved his head to look at me and I could tell he was slightly blushing in embarrassment.
"Pssh! The only thing adorable here is you." he said and this made me slightly blush.
"Ran no I am not adorable!" I said puffing my cheeks as I hid my face in his chest as I heard him chuckle.
"What? It's true. You are adorable and beautiful in my eyes." he said which made me even redder in the face.
"Fine fine you win." I said and I could imagine him smiling right now.
"How long has it been since you have seen the overworld exactly?" I asked out of random.
"Well... I have gone to the overworld a few times from here but I am not so used to it honestly so I kind of stopped going." He said as I pulled away from his chest.
"Why don't you come with me today?" I said as Ranbob had a slight look of shock as he pondered for a bit.
"I don't know... it's been a while to be honest..." He said as I smiled.
"Not much has really changed. I will be there with you." I said as he looked at me for a bit.
"... Alright. I will go with you for some time." He said as I smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Yay!" I said as Ranbob let me go and slowly got up from bed as I did too.
We both left Ranbob's room as we headed towards the room where I came down from. We eventually reached the place as I went up the ladder first as Ranbob followed behind me. As I got up on the stone floor, I helped Ranbob up.
I saw that my boat was still there so I got in first as I motioned Ranbob to get in. He looked a little nervous but eventually got in slowly. It took a few minutes to reach shore but we eventually arrived safely to the beach.
Ranbob's Point of View~
I wouldn't say I am allergic to water or anything like most endermen but I just preferred to not come in contact with it. I realized that we had reached shore. Y/N got up first as he helped me step out of the safely.
I looked around the place. Nothing much has really changed around here considering I haven't come here for three years straight.
"Nothing really changed much huh?" I said.
"Three years didn't really go through much I guess. But come on! I want to show you around the place." She said grabbing my hand as she dragged me around.
The first thing she showed me was where she lived. She basically lived in a small cottage which actually was pretty homey and welcoming to say the least. I learned that she lives alone here but she doesn't seem to mind but she did have three cats that seemed to warm up to me very quickly.
Right now one of the cats were on my lap as I was stroking it while the other two were sleeping beside me. After a few moments I saw Y/N walk downstairs with something in her hands. She looked like she was going somewhere.
"Are you going somewhere sweetheart?" I asked as she looked at me and nodded.
"Yeah I have something to return to the market. You want to come with?" She asked as I thought for a few second before nodding.
I picked up the cat from my lap as I set it down on the couch as I teleported to Y/N who was waiting outside for me. I basically followed her to the market considering she knows the place better than me but I have a good sense of direction just by looking at my surroundings so I know where is what.
We eventually reached the place. It was an outdoorsy type of market with people selling different things. It looked pretty neat to be honest. It wasn't crowded that's for sure and I was relieved that it wasn't or anything.
"Okay so! We will meet here at the exact same spot. You can look around if you want! I won't take long!" She said as she gave me a small kiss on the cheek as she went off in her direction. I really wanted to follow her but I know that I could trust her so I went the other way to look around.
I didn't really have any sort of interest to look at certain things but I did look around a bit. I saw that a few hybrids seemed to work in these markets like Pigmen, Zombie-Piglins and Humans. There were a few hybrids on that note too that worked here.
I was just passing a jewelry stand until something caught my eye as I walked back to look. Nobody was here but I just decided to look. The thing that caught my eye was a ring that had a F/C stone engraved at the top.
The ring immediately reminded me of Y/N. I got slightly nervous by looking at the ring. The thing is that I really wanted to propose to Y/N but I never really had a ring that's for sure. I don't even know if I should even do it cause I feel like it's too soon. My thoughts were interrupted as I heard someone speak.
"Hello good sir! I see your eye has caught something special." I looked up to come face to face with a man who happened to have brown curly hair and happened to be wearing sun glasses but I caught a glimpse of pure white eyes behind those glasses.
"I um yeah I guess so." I said not knowing what to say.
"I am guessing it's for a certain someone am I right?" He asked as I slowly nodded.
"Um yeah yeah it is honestly." I responded as he nodded.
"Well this type of ring is a good way of showing love and proposing. I am guessing it is for that by the look on your face." He said as he opened the glass from his side as he took the ring out with the box and closed it as he pushed it towards me.
"I-I don't have money so I can't really take this." I said as he shook his head.
"It's no problem. No one really comes here for rings for these types of occasions so take it from me as a gift and luck." He said pushing it slightly further to me as I hesitantly took the box as I looked at him and gave him a small smile.
"I will find a way to pay you back. Thank you sir." I said as he smiled pushing up his glasses.
"Please call me Carlos." He said as waved goodbye.
I walked away as I brought the box up to look at it. I let out a huff of breath as I put it away as I teleported back to where we were supposed to meet up with each other. I reached the place as I looked behind me to see Y/N running here as she stopped and halted to catch her breath.
"Sorry if I kept you waiting!" She apologized as I smiled and shook my head.
"It's alright. I just arrived when you did so it's no problem. Come on lets go back." I said as she nodded and we went towards the direction of her cottage.
We eventually reached the cottage house as we went inside. I saw the cats were still fast asleep on the couch. I smiled going over to them as I stroked them a bit. As I was doing so I saw Y/N come over to me as she sat down beside me.
"So what do you think so far?" She asked.
"Hmm... I would have to say it's nice to say the least. Not much has changed that's for sure and people sure seemed friendly there." I said as I saw her smile.
"I am glad! By the way... um... you don't mind if you stay here with me for a while before you go back to Mizu right?" I heard her say as I looked at her and shrugged.
"I don't mind staying here for a few days as long as I am with you." I said as she smiled even more and hugged me.
It actually gave me enough time to set my plan into action. I did plan on staying here for a week or so. I was planning on proposing to Y/N after a week anyways. I just really loved her and I thought that maybe it was the right time to do so. Now I just needed to get things ready.
Six Days Later~
Today was the day. The day I was proposing to Y/N. I was really nervous to be honest and I had so many possibilities run through my head and most of them were about me getting rejected with a glimpse of her actually accepting it.
I took a deep breath as I told myself things will be okay but of couse I was still nervous. I planned a picnic for both of us at the beach. It was actually a surprise. Y/N was currently outside at the market getting buying somethings which I had the house to myself and had prepared her favorite meal and anything else.
I basically picked up cooking perfectly in the last six days. It's the least I could do to make things go well on my planned picnic. Right now I was just waiting for her to come back as I held a bouquet of F/F. Just as I was thinking, I heard the door open as I went over to see Y/N had come back from outside.
"Hey Ranbob!" She said greeting me with a smile as she noticed I was hiding something behind me.
"What's that you got there?" She asked as I smiled and put the bouquet of F/F in front of her.
"These are for you." I said as she stood there shocked as he slowly took it.
"Thank you! You really didn't have to do this." She said as she hugged me.
"I have something else planned for the both of us. I have to take your outside for it." I said as she looked at me questioningly.
"Really? Okay let me just put these things away." She said running towards the kitchen only to come back a few moments later as we headed out the door. We walked for a few as I came to a certain stop cause of reasons.
Third Person Point of View~
Ranbob eventually came to a stop at a certain point as he looked at you.
"Okay so I want you to keep your eyes closed since it's a surprise and everything. You can open them once I tell you to okay?" he said as you nodded and closed you eyes.
He took your hand as he carefully took you to the place. After a few moments Ranbob again came to a stop as she came in front of you.
"Okay you can open your eyes now sweetheart." You heard him say as you slowly opened your eyes to be greeted with a very pleasant sight which took your breath away.
(Link for the picture)
You were shocked that Ranbob planned a picnic date for the both of you. Honestly you two never went on a date before and it was your first. You didn't really care about not going to dates considering you just loved spending time with him and could care less about those.
But this was something you didn't expect from him. You hugged him as he hugged you back. This was really perfect and well planned.
"Thank you so much Ranbob! I can't believe you did all for this for me. I rally don't deserve this." You said as Ranbob hugged you back shaking his head.
"It's the least I could do to show how much I love you. You deserve every bit of it. Now come on. I know you are pretty hungry." He said as you both sat to eat and enjoy each other's company.
After eating you two decided to talk about random things as you both exchanged laughs and jokes. It was a very beautiful night with the stars shining bright in the night sky. Right now you two were lying on the sandy ground while you were cuddled up on Ranbob's chest as you both looked at the stars in each other's arms.
It was a moment to savor. But of course it wouldn't last long considering it was getting pretty late and you both had to leave before the mobs spawned nearby.
"It's getting late. We should get going." You said as Ranbob looked down at you and nodded as you got up from him so he could sit up.
You both stood up as you both dusted the sand off from you. Ranbob knew that he had to do it other wise he wouldn't be able to do it cause right now was the good time to propose to you. Before you could walk away she grabbed your arm to stop you.
"Y/N wait! I have to tell you something important!" Ranbob said as you stopped to look at him and he looked very nervous.
"Are you alright Ranbob?" You asked looking at the nervous half enderman hybrid as he nodded.
"Yeah it's just that..." Ranbob began as he let out a sigh before continuing.
"Y/N I wanted to tell you that meeting you was one of the things I loved the most. You started out as a good friend of mine by visiting me whenever you got the chance. Then that friendship turned into love. When you returned my feelings I felt very happy knowing I had someone who would love me and I would be able to love the same way. What I am trying to say here is that I love you very much and I want to spend the rest of my life with you so I wanted to ask you..." He began as he took out the small black box from his pocket as you watched him slowly kneel down in front of you as you were shocked.
"Ranbob...?" You whispered as you looked at him.
"Y/N... Would you make me the happiest man alive..." He started as he opened the box to reveal a silver ring with a F/C stone engraved on it. "... And marry me?" He finished as he looked at you.
tears were streaming down your face as your hands were covering your mouth. So many emotions already flooded into you after that heartfelt speech that you didn't know how to accept this but you eventually did.
"Yes! Of course I would marry you!" You happily responded back as Ranbob stood up as he slipped the ring on your finger.
He then smashed his lips onto your as he passionately kissed you as his right hand caressed your cheek while the other hand was intertwined with your other hand and the other wrapped around his neck.
Both of you eventually pulled away as you stayed in each other's loving embrace. He couldn't care about anything else other than the girl he loved so much being in his arms as they were both going to be getting married to each other sooner or later.
You were happy that you were going to his.
Ranbob was happy to finally call you his.
This is what mattered to you both the most.
The love you both had for each other and nothing would be able to change that.

Player Two's Diary.
Entry 1.
Dear diary,
Thanks Bobness I have this phone with me. Not gonna lie, I'd totally be going cuckoo without an outlet by now.
Why, you ask? Well, it's simple! Let me explain.
This utter mess began something short of one week ago, when my partner, let's call 'em S, presented me with an idea.
"Let's go away, buddy. Let's just toss this boring life behind and go somewhere new. New and fresh. Like... like the Outskirts, or-- or an island. A deserted one, maybe. Somewhere nobody knows us and none of our problems would ever be able and find us. Come on, buddy. Let's do it."
And, pal, I know not whether it was their enthusiasm, or the fact I was starting to resent my life as mayor of a lethargic town, or that we both had a glass too many of Wolfgang's homemade apple wine, but... I accepted.
I said yes.
Actually, I may have said something more than that. In my drunken haze, I remember yelling something like "OH MY BOB, THAT'S AN AWESOME IDEA AND I ALSO HAVE A FRIEND WHO TOLD ME HE'D TAKE ON A DEAERTED ISLAND BUSINESS AND CAN YOU BELIEVE THE COINCIDENCE HAHA, LET ME CALL THAT OL' RASCAL NOOK!"
And that was it, dear diary. In the span of an our we had traded our entire life's savings for a couple tickets to Nowhere.
But it wasn't that bad at first. I was actually psyched. "You go first, S!", I said. "You go and prepare a cozy spot for us. I'll reach you in three days tops."
And so we did. The next day, S kissed me goodbye, nothing but a backpack on their shoulders and hope in their eyes. "Plane's departing soon. I'll be waiting for you in our lives' next chapter, buddy."
So they went, while I stayed. I had too much stuff to do still, what with signing my temporary resignment as town mayor, packing up, saying goodbye to my citizens.
Then, 48 hours later, there I was, waiting to hop aboard on one of Dodo Airlines' rickety machines.
"Oh my, you won't believe how perfect it is here!" S' voice crackled assaulted my ears with a mix of squawking happiness and bad reception through my phone's speaker. "Weather is marvellous, and Sakura's are bloomin' and and and everything is just SO PERFECT!! There's so much stuff to do, and things to craft, and everyone is just SO DEAR!! They even threw a welcome party for the first residents, and there were confetti, and juice, and even a BONFIRE!!"
I found myself smiling as I left my old life behind and flew through the skies that would lead me to a brand new one. But my smile soon faltered as I stepped off the plane and onto Sleepwalk Island's wooden dock.
"Oh, you here. Finally. Fearless Leader's waiting for you."
"Allright," I thought as I followed Tim ad Tommy’s fuzzy shadows across the island and into a green tent, “they have never been the friendly type, but... is a hug really too much to ask?” I ignored my disappointment, telling myself that they must have been busy, like they always are, and let my face melt in a huge smile as I breathed in the familiar musk of wood and tanuki fur.
“PT!! Such a pleasure to see you here, yes yes!“ Tom rushed towards me, paws extended, his eyes nothing more than a couple happy slits. “I heard of your arrival and boy, I couldn’t wait! Here, drink something and make yourself at home...“ He slapped a can of soda in my open hand and began explaining me the hows and whys of his new business venture, nodding with his usual verve. “... and from this terminal here you can order anything you want and have it shipped right at your door-- ahem, tent step! Isnt’ it great??“
I smiled, knowing full well there was nothing I could say or do to stop his tirade. “And look! This is my new workbench! You can use it anytime, and-- let me show you how it’s done!“
Twenty minutes later, I stepped back out into the morning sun, arms heavy with Nook’s patented survival bundle, head buzzing with info.
“Awesome! I will repay this trifle of a loan by nighttime, and after that, this island will be mine! Oh boy, I can’t wait! It’s gonna be so rad!“
Or so I thought.
Reality, in fact, was soon to smack me in the face. Hard.
You see, S had told me all about how they had been able to trade bugs and fish for much-needed DiY recipes. “And you’ll be able to craft lotsa useful stuff, like axes, and you’ll need those to find wood and get stones and iron from rocks and build so much amazing objects-- I just can’t even!!“
So, understandably, I was all set to seize the occasion and do the same.
That afternoon, I stepped into Nook’s headquarters with a bucket of fish, looking forward to my bright future as Sleepwalk’s craftmaster, when...
“Oh. I see. well, buddy, I’m afraid I can’t help you at this time,“ Tom said, avoiding my gaze and preferring to stare at one of my flapping mackerels instead.
“What d’you mean?,“ I asked, wiping the sweat from my surprised face.
“Well, it’s kinda embarrassing, but...“ Tom scratched his head before continuing. “You see, every other person no this island came in here, trading their critters for recipes, and... there were more people than I expected and I didn’t take into account this possibility and...“ He sighed. “...I’m all out. I have no more recipes to give you, buddy. Sorry ‘bout that.“
I blinked more times than needed.
“But... what am I supposed to do now?“
Tom shrugged.
“You can still sell your catch to scrounge up a few bells, I suppose. Or you could keep some fish as pet, I dunno.“
“Yes, no, what I mean is...“ I looked around and gestured to the outside world.
“What am I supposed to do?!“
Tom cocked his head and bit his lip. Then, unexpectedly, he flashed me the biggest smile in the universe.
“It’s simple! ENJOY LIFE!“
He slid an arm around my shoulders and began dragging me towards the exit.
“You can fish some more, gather branches and craft a bug net, or-- or or, ehm, take pictures! Yes yes, pictures are nice, you can post them on Twitter and make all your friends jealous, and then Ireallyhavenoideaso GOODBYE FOR NOW!“
And just like that, he shoved me and my broken heart out of his tent and back into Sleepwalk Island’s untamed wilderness.
Needless to say, I was dumbfounded.
Still, I couldn’t stop now. I still had a debt to repay.
So, I took a deep breath and lunged into my activities.
I spent the entire day fishing, and fishing, and catching bugs, and picking fruit, until the sun set, and the fresh night breeze began freezing the sweat on my skin.
I was beyond exhausted, dirty and disheartened. But I was ready, and, most importantly, furious.
The moon was high in the sky when I stepped into Tom’s tent, and found him alone, beer in hand, a stack of paperwork under his muzzle.
“Nook,“ I announced, voice low and gravelly with rage, “check your phone.“
“Oh, PT! I didn’t see you the--“
“Check. Your. Phone.“
I stared at him as he obeyed.
“Ah. Your debt is settled, I see! Now we can think about building you a home proper, yes yes!“ He was trying to hide his embarrassment behind a thin layer of businesslike enthusiasm, but I wasn’t having it.
“Yes, I want my roof blue, thank you. But that is not why I am here.“
I sat on a stool beside him and spread my fingers on his desk.
“Now listen closely, Nook. I did everything you told me. I spent the entire day chasing bugs and I caught so much fish I will stink like one for a month. Then, I took pictures. I took so many my thumbs are sore, and people are wondering wether I am planning to become a professional photographer. And now, here I am, same as when I started, doing ZERO progress cause guess what?!“ I could hear my voice raising in volume, but could do nothing to stop it. “There is nothing to do on this island. Nothing. I can’t craft anything, cause there’s no recipes. And even if I did, I couldn’t craft, or build anything, cause there are no materials for me to gather. But tell me the truth, Tom. This isn’t the same for everybody, is it? No... these things are happening to me and me only. Cause there is nothing for me to do on this island. Ain’t it the truth, Tom?“
When the raccoon looked at me, he did it with his saddest eyes.
“Alright, PT, yes. You want the truth, you shall have it.“
He drew a long, shaky breath and tossed me a beer.
“You see, bud, Sleepwalk is an island. And until not long ago, a deserted one at that.“ He cleared his voice before resuming.
“So, yeah. There isn’t much here. Literally. Resources are awfully scarce. And in order to thrive, you need as much as you can get your paws on, and at times, even that isn’t enough. Sure, people here might seem kind and friendly. But truth is, we’re all locked in a constant fight for survival. Every single one of us. Never forget that.“
“But... But I...“
But I am the mayor, I wanted to yell.
“You are the second human relocator, my friend. It’s a first come first served world, buddy... and you, I’m afraid, arrived a bit late.“
I do not remember walking out of that tent and into the darkness.
I don’t even remember how I ended up on the beach.
All I know, is that I did not sleep last night, busy as I was hugging my tear-soaked knees, wrestling with that crushing realization.
The realization that, on this island, I will never be anything more than... Player Two.

“But I’m here to do what kangaroos do best - bounce back.”
“I have to fight for my family. And show them that bullies never win.”
“I am beyond terrified - I’ve never done anything like this before. But I’m not about to lose the chance to realize the dream I’ve always had.”
“To all the survivors out there -- This one’s for you.”
 ON STAGE CLUES:
Song choice: “Dancing on My Own” by Robyn
Look/Costume: The kangaroo has a pouch (indicates female), but also has a red/silver boxing outfit & gloves (indicates male). Outfit colours: red & silver. Important: there is a crown on the back of her robe.
Stage: hexagon-shaped mirrors (5 of  them) surrounding her/behind her [if my other guess is correct, then that stage design is a “clue”]
Height: Tall-ish...almost the same height as host Nick. A bit shorter, around 175cm, probably.
Mic hand: Right
Talking:  “One of my greatest fears is being vulnerable. And this year I’ve had no other option than to be vulnerable. But...with this kangaroo costume I feel like I can get my superpowers back.” +  [breathes in/sighs heavily before the song starts]
GUESSES:
I HAVE NO NAMES OF MY OWN. -- I thought she was this certain female artist, because the voice kinda seemed familair (sounded like hers to me), but none of the clues and other things seemed to fit. And after checking the clues it seems to confirm it cannot be her, cause nothing matches. Also... to me she doesn’t sound like any of the singers I thoughts she could be based on the clues, so... I havent actually figured her out...
I think people online are correct, and it’s a certain “reality star” (gramophone = reference to her dad being a sound engineer on a well-known past TV show) Though I am considering a few more options - mostly other reality stars/youtubers/family members of celebs... particularily one name. If my guess here is correct, then just like Llama, she would have a connection to a previous TMS contestant...but since I am not that familiar with her singing voice, I cannot be sure. But she has lost family members in the past few years, she has been in a media scandal, and you can even explain the australia thing kinda... so...until I hear more of her, I’ve got one name mainly in mind. But I wont name it until I’ve heard her sing at least once more.
POSSIBLE MEANING OF CLUES.
Survivor = the title of a “Destiny’s Child” hit song
Lost a family member recently = either her family member (parent, grandparent?) died or they parted ways (were cut ouf of each others lives)
Gramophone = possibly a reference to a Grammy nomination/win. Or just music/sound/audio
Outback = possible connection to Australia
“spiraling down” road sign + papparazzi following her = she’s been in a media scandal “recently”
Crown = King/Queen
LLAMA
CLUES:
Location: Radio station/Mixing studio - mixing console (close up)
Location: Pottery making “class”
VISUAL CLUES:
Mixing console - close up of a studio/radio station mixing console

Photo of a bull (the animal)
Playing cards: Ace of Spaces & Jack of Spades). Two black suit cards showing (Jack Black)
Sounds of Seattle - title of a vinyl album
Romancing a llama: pottery
AUDIO CLUES/VOICE OVER:
"Mi-Mi-Mi-Mi-Mix it up!”
“Good morning, Nerd herd! You’re listening to The Wool. Where we’re all cool. No Bull.”
“I’m here for one reason only - to have a laugh. And what’s funnier than a Llama? (laughs at his own joke)”
“You may call me a joker. But I’d like to get serious for a minute. The song I’m singing tonight is my favourite track for celebrating love with that... special someone. There’s nothing like being swept up by it’s deep, profound lyrics. It’s a tune that really gets me in the mood for romance. I can’t wait to sing it for you tonight.”
“Llama out!”
ON STAGE CLUES:
Song choice: “She Bangs” by Ricky Martin
Look/Costume: Dressed as a tourist - “hawaiian” style shirt,, photo camera around his neck. Llamas tongue out of his mounth, on the side.
Height: he is around 180cm - about the same height as host Nick (their shoulders are on about the same height)
Mic hand: Left
Talking: “umm.. This whole costume just spoke to me... My vibe... I wear digs like this in real life.” (answering the question about his costume & it’s looks)
GUESSES:
Drew Carey (TV host/comedian/actor...)
POSSIBLE MEANING OF CLUES.
23.3 Wool = His show (The Drew Carey Show) had, during it’s 9-season long run, a total of 233 episodes.
Photo canera prop = His hobby is photography. Actually, it’s more than just a hobby - he has been accredited press photographer during many (sports) events.
Radio = He was a radio operator during the time he served in the Marine Corps. Also..he’s hosted a radio show (radio DJ) during his later career

Joker = he is a joker aka comedian
Seattle = He is the co-owner of a Seattle Football Club.
Playing cards = He took part in the celebrity poker game in 2003, where he did better than Jack Black did (played against Jack Black)
Nerd herd = He did take part in Zack levis (Chuck) “Nerd herd” lightsaber race one time at a Comic-Con convention.
Nerd herd = his show (DCS) & character were/was about nerds/was a nerd
Llama’s side tongue = early in his stand-up comedy days he had a joke with a side-tie (it looked visually very similar to what the llama’s tongue looks like - he just added some wires & tape to do “the trick” of swinging the tie to the side)
BONUS: He knows last years winner, “The Fox Mask” - they did “Whose Line is it Anyway” together, so... connection...
SPOILER ALERT: Llama is the mask who will be voted off next - in ep 2 (on Wed, Feb 5th). But while his voice might not be as trained as some other contestants, I loved his stage energy, and the comedy/fun he brought! One more song coming from him! And no, I am not sharing some secret info - they “accidentally” revealed the first two contestants, who get unmasked, so it’s been revealed by the network...for those, who notice small details...

Purple furry diary/good luck charm/cosmetics bag/pencil box (with a face + kitty ears & unicorn horn) + a glittery pen
Lockers: Lockers numbered 10 (the ones she opens) & 11 (the one next to it)...with no other lockers having numbers on them
Miss Monster Locker: filled with images of S1 Monster, scrapbook flowers..etc...
Piece of paper on the locker door: Monster Hits.
Photograph of a cityscape (skyline with many skyscrapers) on the locker door [if I could only see the image better to know which city it is on it, that’d be one more clue]
AUDIO CLUES/VOICE OVER:
“When you become famous, people  want you to look or act in a certain way. They forget that you started off as just a shy little monster.”
“It didn’t take long for me to be misunderstood. So I’m here to set the record straight. Just like my favourite creature in Season 1 did. The Monster. He made me feel. He re-wrote his story. It was fire!"

Mic hand: Right
Talking: NO ON-STAGE TALKING!
GUESSES:
Chaka Khan
Dolly Parton (since the total number of Grammy noms that the 18 contestants have in combined in 69 & Robot as the first revealed one has had 24-25 of them, that leaves only 44-45 for everyone else, that rules out this person, because she alone has had 46 nominations...compared to C. Khan’s 22 noms)
POSSIBLE MEANING OF CLUES.
Number 10 = She has 10 Grammy Awards/wins. (interestinly: both D. Parton & C. Khan have 10 Grammy wins!)
Monster Hits = she has had (many) hit songs during her career
He made me feel = She has a song by the title “I Feel You” (1984 hit)
It was fire = She has a song by the title “Through the Fire” (1985)

It was fire = She wrote the hit song “Fule to the Flame” (1967 hit) for Skeeter Davis.
Will you still love me? = She has/wrote a song titled “I will always love you”
Furspray/Hairsray = he was/is known for her big hair/haircut (managing that probably takes lots of hairspray)

TURTLE

Pins on the track...popping the blue jumpy balls
Grilling burgers on an (outside) grill...on the track field.
Turtle crossing the finish line first (bunnies just going in circles, being stopped by pins on the way, or other reasons), as he has time to do other things & take it slowly, and then still get there first...with a burger in hand & winning the golden medal.
AUDIO CLUES/VOICE OVER:
"At the starting-line of my career I was surrounded by other hungry new-comers. It felt like everyone around me was fighting tooth-and-nail for the dream. And I watched as many of those stars burned too brightly, too quickly, and then fizzled down”
“I’m a turtle, because I’m always taking it step-by-step.”
“Slow and steady wins the race. But now I feel like I’m ready to break out of my shell. After years of preparation I would love to make a big splash. So I don’t want anyone to cross that finish line before me.”
ON STAGE CLUES:
Song choice: “Kiss from a Rose” by Seal
Look/Costume: Punk/Rock-style, dressed in leather (pants, jacket), has a spike (hair)
Height: Short-ish (shorter than host Nick) - seems around 175cm. Small in size.
Mic hand: Right
Talking: “It’s hot. It’s really hot. And it’s heavy!” (when answering how doesn it feel to be in that costume and perform in it)
GUESSES
Jesse McCartney
Joey McIntyre  PS. I tried connecting the voice to any boy-bands (of 1990s & 2000s), but I coukdnt. Even after some “research” - listening to each possible candidate...and IMO it’s none of them. The voices dont match, the heights doesn’t match---But it did sound like someone, who for me was a one-hit-wonder. Yeah, I only know that one song (and one more) from him... but voice seemed familiar.
POSSIBLE MEANING OF CLUES:
Surf board = that he is a surfer;  that he is from Cali/Australia/somewhere which is known as being popular among surfers; that he has won Teen Choice Award(s) (this award in in the shape of a surfboard)
being surrounded by other new-comers at the start of his career = either he got his start through a (singing) competition and was one of many contestants fighting for the win AND/OR he got his start in a “boy-band” and was one of the youngsters looking for fame...
Surf board = Teen Choice Awards - winning several TCAs for his first/biggest hit song/album in 2005, and more. And he’s played a surfer character on a TV show
BSB references/connection  - he was the opening act in 2005 for BSB during the European part of the tour.
Dream = he started in a boy-band with the name “Dream Street”
on stage presence/body language (movements) = very similar to J.M.
WHITE TIGER
CLUES:
Location: Football field. Tiger striking a power/winners pose.
Location: School hallway, lockers. Tiger walking in, shoving everyone out of his way.
Locatrion: School library (sitting behind a table, with his legs on the table)
Location: School hallway, lockers. MIB trying to get him to audition for TMS. MIB (fans) taking selfies with him.
VISUAL CLUES:
Golden plate/sign with text: Ultimate champion for clam shucking: 51 clams” (next to a golden clam shell)
Sign/ad on the wall: “Masked Singer tryouts 5/3.” + images of three past masks included: Eagle, Lion & Raven. Plus the text: “Hurry. Not for long" also written on it.
Sign on the all with images of past US presidents, including Abe Lincolns & the text/quote “Four Score and Seven Years Ago...”
The TMS golden mask throphee shown next to the lockers (as Tiger says “let’s party!”)
AUDIO CLUES/VOICEOVER:
“Ready to meet your next champion? My entire life I’ve sought out perfection, so choosing a mask with unlimited power like the White Tiger was a no-brainer.”
“I’ve had a giant career full of accomplishments. But when I imagine being on stage (and) singing, I’m a big old scared cat.*
“It’s been a while since I did something that scared me, so I’m here to concour yet anither challenge.”
“What’s my motivation? My fans! I don’t wanna let them down."
“So now I’m ready to get in that ring and smash the competition.”
“Let’s party!”
ON STAGE CLUES:
Song choice “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice
Look/Costume: Dressed in “Egyptian style"
Height: very tall & big (much taller than host Nick) - over 190cm, looks about 2m tall
Mic hand: R & L (alternates)
Talking: “It’s the most powerful I’ve ever felt. Like I can concour anything. I never wanna take it off” (when answering what did it feel like when he first put on the costume/mask)
POSSIBLE MEANING OF CLUES:
He played during the 51st  (51 clams) & 53rd  (5/3) Super Bowl games.
The three past TMS masks shown are all animals that are parts of  names of existing football teams: Ravens, Eagles, Lions. Meaning he is an athlete & specifically plays american football (NFL)
The Lincoln quote translates to “87 years ago...”, so number 87 is the clue here. This could be a reference to player No. 87.
He has had a very succesful career in his own field (sports). Singing is not his main job.
IF the voice-overs were done later, not during initial filming, then it’s possible that “smash” relates to the person smashing a lego-statue of a TV host during 2019/2020 New Years. Which in itself was supposed to be about his famous “Gronk Spike” during football games.
A tiger (albeit “regular”, not white) was one of the characters & costumes + name of the sports team in the Katy Perry video “Swish Swich”, where this athlete also appeared.
The Golden (Golden Mask) trophe - most likely a reference to his many wins (the trophees he/his team has won)
GUESSES:
Rob Gronkowski (Gronk, athlete, 198cm) = 99% certain it’s him
Because of the height alone (seems to be around/almost 2m = 6 feet 5) there are not that many possibilities at all. Even if we don’t listen to that voice or consider the clues. Based on height alone it can basiclaly be only one of these names: Dave Bautista (198cm); The Rock (196cm); Hulk Hogan (201cm); Tyler Perry (196cm); Brad Garrett (204cm); Joe Manganiello (196cm); Jeff Goldblum (194cm); Jason Mamoa (193cm); Tom Brady (193cm)..or the likes...
Even other possible names, like the ones listed by the panel, are not valid guesses, because of their height: John Cena for example is actually only 185cm tall. Also... several of these tall men are bigger/more muscular, so that makes it even easier to determine the name based on only the physical appeance...without even listening to the clues.
ROBOT
First mask to be voted out in ep 1
Havent listed his clues, cause there’s no use for them anymore, as he was voted off.
With his 86 tattoos he makes up for about half of all the 160 tattoos the 18 contestants have combined. With his 24-25 Grammy nominations he makes up about 1/3 of all the 69 noms the 18 contestants have combined. And quite many of the 88 gold records the 18 contestants have combined,  belong to him (I don’t know the exact number, but most/all of his 10+ albums have gone gold, I think) - exact number depends on how they count it for this list.
<<<<< THIS IS WHAT GOES ON IN MY HEAD AFTER EVERY TMS SHOW/EPISODE. THIS IS HOW I CATEGORIZE THE INFO I HAVE INTO FOLDERS IN MY MIND. THIS IS HOW SPECIFIC I AM, AND HOW INTO DETAILS I GO. THIS IS HOW MUCH I PAY ATTENTION (while, most likely, missing a ton of more hints that I’ll only notice during re-watch) I JUST DECIDED TO WRITE IT DOWN...FOR ONCE.
BUT... unless I decide to cut some sleep time to do this again, I am probabky not gonna do this after every episode. Possibly for the first episode of every Group (so beside ep 1, also ep 4 & ep 7)

He planned a trip with his friends to celebrate graduation and made a stop in the town his brother served in, wanted to hang out and sunbathe at the beach, brother was like "hey this is my companion lets do some chores before we go to the beach" and so Juan walked with his brother through the town for more than ten hours going house to house as his brother and brother's companion preached the gospel. His brother asked his feelings onnthe savior and never corrected him. He gained knowledge.
