So I saw Halloween ends a couple days ago, but I wanted to wait until others saw it to make an option...
Spoilers under cut.
Honestly... Such a disappointment. I almost left the theater.
I was expecting us to get answers to questions left in Halloween kills; Why does he kill? Why is he so obsessed with standing in his sister's window? Why is he so powerful and unstoppable?
Halloween Kills is the reason Ends is so disappointing. Kills set so much up and put Michael on such a pedestal. He was an unstoppable force of evil, able to kill a whole mob by himself while taking a lot of attacks with no problem.
In Ends? Hell, not even to talk about his death scene yet, (which I will), but Michael is barely IN this movie. He's got maybe 10 minutes of screen time in this movie.
Instead, Corey takes the screen time. I'm not mad about this, Corey is an interesting character, and seeing him turned into a killer by the town was an interesting concept.
But it's not what Ends was supposed to be. It was supposed to be Michael and Laurie's final show down. Their last brawl, to settle it once and for all. It's not that, though. It's only included in the last 20 minutes because the writers remembered that was supposed to be here in the film. Such an anticlimatic end to thia 40 year long rivalry.
I also don't understand why they gave Corey and Michael some sort of teacher and student relationship. Michael has never done this before, sparing someone, let alone keeping them around ans showing them how to kill. It makes absolutely no sense. It feels like someone put their OC in the Halloween Universe to run around with Michael Myers.
And that scene in the sewer, with Michael losing his mask? I have massive problems with that.
How is it Michael can kill a whole unit of firefighters, a mob of people with weapons, but lost a wrestle with Corey? I get they're trying to show that Michael is a lot frailer and weaker after these 4 years, but he certainly looked fine killing that woman in the doctor's house, and he was just fine beating Laurie around. No, it's just a horrible scene, and completely destroys what Kills made.
That brings me to his death. Michael Myers is an infamous character known for taking 6 shots and living, surving being burnt alive, taking a whole mob of gun fire and surving, he took 5 shots and countless beatings in the mob scene... It's obvious he's hard to kill.
So why the hell did they think the solution was just to cut his arteries? That's not fun, nor is it a satisfying end to this infamous slasher. It's borderline disrespectful. Such a terrible way to kill him off. Letting him just bleed out? No, I wanted to see him and Laurie go out in a blaze of glory. But no, we didn't get that. It honestly felt like Michael just wanted to die and escape this movie. (Don't blame you, dude.)
I would have liked to see a more Freddy vs Jason approach to this final fight. Obviously not to the same degree of violence, but make these characters fight. Let them stab each other. Let Laurie go for the eyes. Let Michael put her hand in the garbage disposal. (Wasted potential) Not just a lot of throwing around and hitting heads against things. That's not fun, it's boring. It's not what this final battle needed.
The only praise I can give this movie is that scene with Corey. When Alison arrived home, and he stabs himself in the throat because he wants Laurie to look like the killer. That was great, and could've lead to something good. If it wasn't immediately forgotten about five minutes later.
Also, this movie tries to develop a relationship with Corey and Alison. It might have worked, if this movie wasn't horribly written. The script jumps around the entire movie, and I can't tell if it's been a day or if a few days have passed. I think only three days have passed, and Alison is already having sex with Corey and saying she'll run away with him.
What?
Also, every single person in Haddonfield is just insufferable. From people on the street blaming Laurie for Michael's attacks, Corey being harrased by high-school kids, snobby co workers who practically slut shame you... Haddonfield is a horrible place to live. I get why Michael stabs everyone here.
These problems, along with the previously stated just makes this movie miserable to watch. Watching this movie is like getting a sandwich that's just two pieces of bread. It's got nothing. Not even good kills. There's only one I'd point out, the one where the guy gets his tongue cut off. But that's it.
This whole movie was just disappointing. Such a horrible end to a decent pair of movies. I loved 2018 and Kills, I thought they were great despite their flaws. A breath of fresh air for the Halloween series it desperately needed. Ends just ruins it for me.
So yeah, those are my thoughts on this film. Sorry to anyone who enjoyed the film, you're free to have your opinion on it, and I'm glad you did enjoy it if tou did! I did not though, so I will not be acknowledging this movie much aside from this. It's going in my top five worst Halloween films.

Hello! Are there any ideas from the Mad Witch that didn't make the cut? And have you noticed any changes in your writing since you started?
Hello there!
2. Any ideas that didn’t make the cut?
Many! You can see from the “Deleted and Bonus Content” compilation on AO3 that plans change, and characters sometimes don’t go in the direction I originally expected.
Some ideas not in the deleted content that I considered but rejected:
Penny questions her sexuality and kisses Lily but ultimately concludes she’s straight. This would have confused Lily and complicated the story beyond what I could keep on track
Penny questions her sexuality and kisses Lily, which makes her realize she might be bisexual but still doesn’t have any feelings for Lily. And honestly? If I was willing to devote 100K more words to this fic, I would have loved to explore that plot point because a queer platonic relationship between them would be awesome. But there’s already so much going on I couldn’t do it justice
Tulip kisses Lily (a lot of cut kisses in this fic, apparently?) as a wild way to prove to herself that she no longer fancies her and doesn’t feel a “spark.” The moment never felt right while I writing, though, and I preferred Lily’s first in-fic kiss to be with Merula anyway
During Lily and Jacob’s camping trip, before the mother dragon arrives, the hatchlings come down from the mountain in the middle of the night and attempt to break into the tent. I wanted to add this scene, but the chapter got too long
15. Any changes in my writing since I started?
I started writing fanfic when I was 10 or 11, so I sincerely hope so.
Jokes aside, absolutely! I can’t read my older fics on AO3 without wincing—even the ones that are only a year old. I can’t even read the older Mad Witch chapters without some measure of pain. I won’t point out the exact changes because I don’t want to call attention to them, but I always see what I would have done differently now, and it takes an extreme amount of willpower not to give every chapter a complete and thorough edit. I know if I edit the earlier chapters now, my writing will just change again and it will have been a wasted effort, so I’ve promised myself that I’m not allowed to touch those chapters until I’ve written the final one.
Regardless of how painful it is to read my old writing, I treat the fact that I see what I could have done differently—could have done better—as a positive thing, because it’s a sign of how far I’ve come. I’m proud of it!
Questions from this ask game.

Okay so Jungle Cruise is releasing on digital at the end of the month and there’s a ton of bonus content including 11 deleted scenes. Here’s the names of them!
MacGregor Drives The Boat
MacGregor Water Skis
Joachim And Nilo On The Dock
Frank Talks To Proxima & Lily’s Nightmares
Sub Gets Stuck
Proxima Surprises MacGregor
Frank Gets The Cold Shoulder
Trader Sam And Lily Walk In The Jungle
MacGregor And Trader Sam Say Goodbye
Frank Makes Tea For Lily
The Backside Of Water
MACGREGOR WATER SKIS??? I NEED TO SEE THIS!
Ohhh OHHHH oh
where to begin! first of all- only 11?? I know they got about 50.
MacGregor Drives The Boat- honestly I felt like that joke was unresolved. he just went from "idk how to do this" to casually driving it. much needed scene.
MacGregor Water Skis- shhskskfj idk what this is gonna entail but boy am I looking forward to it. make him suffer hajdkf
Joachim And Nilo On The Dock- yes yes yes we deserve a scene of them interacting. the camp of it all
Frank Talks To Proxima & Lily's Nighmares- Ohhhhh interesting! that moment where lily wakes up from a nightmare was oddly short so that could be a nice extension. maybe a reveal that frank also has nightmares 👀👀
Sub Gets Stuck- I think I've said it before but I love that the submarine was a comedic character in itself. so excited to see this lmaoo
Proxima Surprises MacGregor- I'm sorry MORE content for them???? I already got so much more than I ever dreamed we'd get! whoo!! I'm assuming this is the moment before he runs upstairs screaming so it makes sense they removed it cause it's a much better joke construction to go from showing her before he sees her to him being chased a few minutes later.
Frank Gets The Cold Shoulder- this could literally be anything but I'm hoping with how Emily and Dwayne played these two it'll be hilarious
Trader Sam And Lily Walk In The Jungle- YES!! Sam/Lily nation RISE!! yeahhh!! honestly there was the weirdest gap in the movie there. Trader Sam stays with MacGregor and sends Lily away with the arrowhead and then she surprises Lily after the conquistadors almost got her and then a cut to Lily the next morning walking around the jungle looking for MacGregor? and then MacGregor joins Lily and Frank with Trader Sam? sth is missing there and I hope this scene fills it.
MacGregor And Trader Sam Say Goodbye- this is gonna be cute and funny I just know it. Maybe Frank hauling MacGregor into their little boat. Hopefully establishing how much Trader Sam is annoyed by MacGregor already. More adorable sibling interaction 🥺
Frank Makes Tea For Lily- JUSTICE!! i predicted this would happen in the movie (as a reference to African Queen) although I kinda expected it'd be with MacGregor. But still! I fucking CALLED THIS ONE WHOO
The Backside Of Water- a joke so good you gotta make it twice! and then cut one lol.
Thank you for sharing the list! I hadn't had a chance to check it out yet!

the progression of things - discarded scenes
this is a dump post for scenes that were in the original draft, but never made it to final version of the fic. they bear no connection to the final version of "the progression of things”, but i liked them enough that i couldn’t bear just deleting these scenes (TPOT underwent a lot of editing and rewrites) ;_; they were part of the original premise where I wrote Miyano as ace/demisexual, but in the end it didn’t work out ;_;
click on the “read more” link if you’d like to read them, but take note, they’re were part of the rough draft, hence are extremely unpolished.
Miyano remembers being fifteen, his school bag heavy on his shoulders, but his heart heavier in his chest. Every day he looks at the mirror in his bathroom and wonders why he was cursed with such feminine features, a smaller build than the rest of the boys in his school; everything on his face seemed wrong as though nature forgot to switch its genetic code back to “MASCULINE, MALE” when constructing his face.
He couldn’t blame his parents, they never had any say in what he’d look like when he was born, and his mother would be heartbroken to hear that her son, bearing such resemblance to her looks, actually hated his own.
But as slightly estranged as he was from his middle school classmates when his looks came up as a topic of conversation, Miyano still heard Things whispered amongst his peers, seen Things even, when his classmates included him in their weekly get-together to ogle at printed materials meant for a demographic way beyond their age.
In the flush of youth, where the boys in his class pondered over their body anatomy, fascinated with nature, and looked to adult magazines (stolen from their older sibling’s stash) for enjoyment, Miyano pondered over the harsh reality of his feminine features, upset but resigned with nature, and looked to fashion magazines (taken with permission from his mother’s collection) for pointers on how Not to appear even more like a girl.
(His father’s copies of Business Weekly helped a little too, even if only to remind Miyano how top businessmen in the country dressed for a business photoshoot with the press – suit, tie and expensive watch peeking from the cuffs.)
When the passage of time came and went and Miyano entered high school, he discovered the world of Boys Love manga and dedicated his free time to understanding the intricacies of this fascinating genre. Being a minor, the type of print he could obtain were fairly sweet and innocent, nothing too explicit save for some scenes that took place on a bed, the protagonists’ modesty preserved with a flimsily drawn blanket over their nude bodies.
Occasionally, a book or two with explicit content would make their way to his collection. The internet was also a place full of wonders and possibility, and once or twice Miyano would (secretly) look up the famous series promised with rave reviews, but somehow, Porn Without Plot never really stuck to his repertoire.
Even after becoming of age, Miyano still finds himself gravitating towards the safety that comes with the PG-13 books. There is a strange sort of comfort in consuming fiction that depicts love as something simple and uncomplicated, straightforward and representation that love– intimacy did not necessarily come hand in hand with sexual acts. Intimacy could exist with or without sexual acts and vice versa, whatever floats your boat, really.
For Miyano, it was always the build up leading to that ultimate confession scene (at the rooftop, under the cherry blossom tree by the school yard, the back of the school gym, endless options) that grabbed him by the feels and punted him into the sun. That’s where the highlight is!! He once told Sasaki, unable to hold back on his excitement that twinkled in his eyes.
And identifying all the event flags leading up to that very moment of their first kiss? Unparalleled. Truly the best of all scenes there is. Peak romance. The bedroom scenes (few and rare in his possession) are really just a bonus.
So, while his peers continued to chat about going through the motions in bed, the closest miyano could ever try to relate to during those conversations was the intimacy that came along with the idea of sexual intercourse.
-------------------------------------
The moment Miyano is done with the last of his midterms and bids his notes goodbye (for now), Sasaki magically appears beside him and whisks him away to the nearby izakaya for a celebratory dinner.
“For getting through the first midterm week of your life~” His giant baby boyfriend coos, ever so sweet like the cakes he bakes.
Miyano pretends to be exasperated, shoulders dramatically slumping over the sticky izakaya table, but his heart knows better. It’s been one month since he’s started college (the one Sasaki also so happens to attend, not a coincidence at all), and the privilege of having more time to spend with one another makes Miyano giddy with happiness.
Gone are the days Miyano can only meet his favourite senpai for a handful of hours after club activities until the reality of their courseload slaps them in the face; gone are the days they have to rely on telephone calls and text messages, where the minutes and seconds flashing across the screen serve as an unforgiving reminder of the time they have left before they have to part ways.
It’s all gone now. Sasaki sits before him, in the flesh, and Miyano has always felt that seeing Sasaki’s smile in person would always be different from seeing it on screen. The grainy pixels on his phone can never do those handsome features justice, nor can it the warmth blooming behind his breastbone whenever Sasaki threads their fingers together and walks him all the way back to his dorm.
The freshmen all share a common dormitory block separate from the rest of the college students, something about building connections and getting to know each other better, so Sasaki insists on walking Miyano back to his room before he makes the trek all the way back to his own. The night is young, the dorms are peacefully quiet, and everyone is probably still out in town having a good time.
---------------------------
Loathe as he is to do so, Miyano makes the executive decision to drop by the bookstore one afternoon to try and consult a few adult BL manga. It’s the worst idea he could ever come up with, he hates comparing his own relationship to silly BL manga tropes, but nothing short of an apocalypse would push him to ask the people around him whether it’s normal to… not think about sex in a romantic relationship. While the internet is a wondrous place full of answers and possibilities, Miyano figures it probably wouldn’t hurt to take a peek at how society tackles his questions through the lens of BL manga.
Hurriedly, just before his date with Sasaki, he randomly picks up one of the highly rated R-18 series, heads over to the payment counter quickly, and bolts out of the store the moment the cashier bags his purchases. He makes sure to stuff the damned volumes deep beneath his bag, out of sight, before he heads over to the café to meet Sasaki for lunch.
And when he’s finally back in his own dorm later that night, his roommate blissfully unaware and asleep, Miyano retrieves the book from his bag, cautiously peels away the plastic wrap before he settles down for the night to take notes.
His efforts are all for naught. Halfway through the series – one Junjou Romantica –, it takes Miyano all but 3 volumes before he calls it quits and and promptly closes the book. Guess there’s no way he can redeem his money now, unless Sasaki is into dubcon…? Well, that’s a thought for future Miyano to ponder on. Current Miyano just wants to sleep and wash the images out of his mind with bleach.
-------------------------------
he has no care for sex, but nothing compares to the tender happiness that comes along with partaking in something sasaki enjoys and yearns for. sasaki’s language of love has always been touch and spending time partaking in activities of common interest.
today, sasaki has picked a soothing lo-fi playlist as their background music. they’re seated on the bed, warmly nestled against each other as they browse through their respective manga
his eyes may be on inked pages, but his heart is long gone. he discreetly observes his boyfriend, the curve of his jaw, long lashes almost curling against the high of his cheekbones as his honey-gold eyes flit across pages and pages of content.
the fingers flipping through each page is steady, long, and miyano suddenly wonders how it would feel to have them splayed across his body, touching him in places his own hands have never ventured before.
“what’s wrong, myaa-chan?” sasaki smiles at him, eyes impossibly fond and kind.
well, fuck it, there’s no going back now.
“senpai, what do you think… about… BL with explicit content?”
sasaki blinks. miyano tampers down the urge to kiss those parted lips.
“you mean books with sex scenes in them?”
“yeah.”
“oh.” sasaki turns away, the hand that’s not rested on miyano’s shoulder has found a place on top of sasaki’s mouth. he’s embarrassed, miyano realizes, and somehow that makes him feel ten times more endearing than usual.
sensing that this was a topic his boyfriend wasn’t going to let go any time soon, sasaki clears his throat and returns miyano’s gaze head on.
“i’m fine with it. why do you ask?”
“i… well.” while miyano struggles for words, sasaki hand starts moving up and down his arm, soothing him.
“are you starting to read rated manga? it’s normal, at least, ogasawara’s girlfriend says so. so there’s no need to be shy, myaa-chan! if you want to recommend any, you know I’ll read anything you lend me. no judgment here.”
it should have been reassuring, but the thought that ogasawara’s girlfriend discussed with sasaki about explicit BL manga like it’s the fucking weather has miyano choking on his spit. what the actual fuck.
do people actually talk about these things? is miyano the abnormal one instead for never entertaining the thought of doing things with his significant other?! has he been missing out on some code of relationship couples ought to follow?! the BL mangas he read never said so!
“myaa-chan? are you okay?”
“you- you talk with ogasawara senpai about these things?”
sasaki’s cheeks colour a lovely shade of red. from his looks, he’s starting to catch up with where miyano wants the conversation to go. that’s a relief, because miyano honestly doesn’t know how to tactfully broach the topic without sounding like a dumb dumb about these things.
“yeah, i do.” sasaki admits, “but only once or twice, because ogasawara needed to vent about things. sorry, does that weird you out? i can stop. i don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable.”
“no, no, it’s fine. totally fine, senpai.” it must be a common boys topic that somehow eluded miyano and friends during high school. at this point, miyano’s face must be burning with the hot flames of embarrassment and shame, he’s pretty sure sasaki’s fingers can feel the heat all the way from where they are, stroking his cheek absently.
“what brought this on, if you don’t mind me asking?” sasaki asks a moment later, when the weight of silence in the room gets a little too much to bear.
“just… some friends talking about it the other day.”
“friends.”
“yeah… fine, classmates.”
“are you… thinking about it?”
at miyano’s surprised expression, sasaki backtracks immediately.
“forget i asked.”
“to be honest, i don’t know what to feel about it.”
“it’s okay, we don’t have to do what you don’t want to do.”
it’s so painfully awkward yet endearing at the same time.
“do you think about it, senpai? about us… doing those things?”
sasaki’s lack of an answer is extremely telling. the shade of red coloring his cheeks is probably bright enough to rival miyano’s own face.
“does it matter? i am happy with doing whatever myaa-chan wants to do.” sasaki finally says, but his eyes have shied away from miyano’s gaze, and something within miyano snaps.
“of course it matters. it’s you, sasaki-senpai. i want you to be happy too. i want to do things that you want to do too.”
something akin to hope blooms across sasaki’s eyes (surprisingly moist).
“thank you, myaa-chan. that thought alone makes me happy enough. let’s leave it here for now and let things progress as they naturally would, how about that? we don’t need to rush into anything. i’m really happy with where we are now.”
he knows that sasaki has caught on to his sexual orientation, no doubt. it’s been a year since he became of age, and yet the BL manga he still buys have never ventured into the explicit genre. briefly, he wonders if sasaki actually keeps his own stash of porn somewhere below his bed, like normal boys would do.
they aren’t in high school anymore. it’s been years, and yet until this point, the thought of doing something more than kissing and cuddling has never crossed miyano’s mind. he wants to cry at how respectful his boyfriend has been all this while.
“myaa-chan? myaa-chan? oh no, yoshikazu, don’t cry. i’m sorry if i said something wrong-”
oh fuck.
miyano has always been uncomfortable with displays of affection and attention, preferring to bask in the comforting arms of his daydreams and fantasies, but his love for sasaki burns greater and he will do anything he can to ensure that sasaki receives equal, if not more, affection and care than the amount his boyfriend showers him in.
scene ends with sasaki hugging miyano tightly, reassuring him and planting a kiss at the side of miyano’s temple. but it does nothing to seep away the frustration gnawing at his bones.

LOVE BY CHANCE / THARNTYPE
1. the count up series by sweetiejelly - Tin/Can - ~34,000 words, explicit - A fix-it fic post-canon where Tin and Can slowly work out their issues with some missteps and learning along the way.
So two weeks later, when Can first does it, Tin doesn't know what to do. For the longest while, he just turns off his phone screen. And then turns it back on.
good night, tin. it's been a while but i promised to say good night. so, good night, sleep well.
Every damn time the text is still there.
In the end, Tin deletes it.
The next morning, Can does it again.
good morning, tin. looks like rain today. don't forget your umbrella.
Tin deletes it.
The texts keep coming.
2. ** LBC Aftermath series by Mara - LBC/TharnType crossover- ~6700 words, mature - Were you too horrified by Techno’s ending in LBC? This author feels your pain and did her part to get some justice for Techno. This fic has zero sympathy for Kengkla, which I deeply appreciated. This will help you work out some of your anger. It features LBC!Techno and the TharnType versions of Tharn and Type. Mind the warnings, since this deals with the serious consequences of Kengkla’s actions.
Kengkla stayed at the house through the morning and Techno was so jumpy he nearly leaped out of his skin every time Kla looked at him or talked to him. Even though Kla had explained what happened and how he wasn’t upset to be dating, Techno still felt weird. He kind of wished he remembered what had happened. A guy should remember how he lost his virginity, right?
Kla grabbed him in a big hug and Techno froze, managing a weak grin when Kla pulled back to smile at him. “I’ve got to go home now. But I’ll call you later. Let me know if you go somewhere.”
“O-okay.” Techno stared as the boy let himself out the front door.
3. 5 + 1 by strokeofluck - Tin/Can- ~3600 words, rated general - This is a sweet story about the times when Pete sees Tin having feelings for Can.
Pete weighed his options as he glanced back and forth between Tin and Can. Can didn’t seem to be bothered by the whole thing, he even had a shy smile on his face. Or at least, Pete thought it was a shy smile, he had never really seen this kind of expression coming from Can before.
He could let this whole thing go, he supposed, but he didn’t really want to. It was time for him to finally say to Tin: I told you so.
“You were born in Bangkok,” he said, casting a wide net and hoping Can would find himself caught in it.
Can did.
4. That Testified Surprise by Mara - Techno/Tharn/Type - ~7000 words, mature - This is a LBC canon rewrite that stars the TharnType version of all three characters. Type realizes something is not...quite...right with Kengkla and invites Techno to stay with him and Tharn instead of going home drunk.
Pouring Techno into the passenger seat, Type sat down in the driver’s seat and pulled the phone out to check it, entering the passcode. (The passcode was the birthday of Thai national football team captain Siwarak Tedsungnoen, of course. Duh.)
Fuck, it looked like Nic had been either texting or calling every 20 minutes since they got to the bar. What was up there?
Scrolling back through the evening’s texts, Type scowled harder. Loving brother or not, this was fucking creepy. Going back farther, it looked like it was a pattern. Did the kid do anything other than pester his brother about his whereabouts?
THARNTYPE
5. everything he wants by minkit - ~5100 words, explicit - Type accidentally ruins one of Tharn’s shirts and agrees to do whatever Tharn wants to make up for it. Which means it’s porn stretched over the bare bones of a plot, and it’s great.
Tharn’s hands moved across the bed, slowly, inch by inch and it was frustrating because Type knew they were heading to him, but Tharn took his sweet time. And then they were covering his hands and Tharn’s face was mere centimeters from his and Type could barely breathe. It took everything he had not to lean forward and capture those lips that also belonged to him, but he had a feeling if he tried, Tharn wouldn’t let him. He had that look on his face and Type knew what it meant.
He knew he was in for a long rest of the night.
6. You’ve Got Mail by perthbysaint - ~7800 words, explicit - Type sends Tharn nudes at the most inconvenient times.
A selfie? From Type? Tharn was thanking all of his lucky stars as he happily taps to load the image. The picture loads and Tharn’s phone slips from his suddenly lax grip. Convinced he couldn’t have just seen what he thought he just saw, he picks his phone up hastily and stares very intently at the picture.
It’s a mirror selfie, obviously taken in a changing room, but that thought comes secondary to thighs. Type is holding the camera in front of his face to take the picture, shirt clenched in his other hand and pulled up slightly to show off the shorts. The fucking shorts. He had seen Type in his soccer gear before and yes, Type has most definitely asked for the wrong size and Tharn is more grateful than he’s ever been for anything in his whole life. The shorts are riding up so high they can’t cover more than a few inches of skin, Type’s smooth, powerful thighs on full display. On the inside of his left thigh, there’s a tiny purple mark peeking out from under the bottom of the shorts. Tharn knows exactly what it is because he was the one who left it there just two days ago when he sucked marks into Type’s thighs for a half-hour before he slung Type’s legs over his shoulders and ate him out until Type was sobbing fat tears and begging Tharn to let him come.
7. pet names series by LokelaniRose - ~50,000 words, explicit - A series of post-episode fics that gives us the sex that the show only hinted at, starting with the shower scene.
Tharn prides himself on his self-control. All his passion and intensity is saved for his music, when he’s safely behind a drum kit and can let it all out. He’s never been as irritated by anyone else as he is by Type and all his playground bullying nonsense. Something about the other boy just shakes something loose inside him, rattles at Tharn’s iron discipline until he has to grit his teeth constantly not to just – what? Kiss him? Kill him? Tharn has enough composure (and pride) to put up a front that’s all smiles and wry amusement, but really he regularly skips between one of two daydreams – twisting Type’s head off or fucking him into the ground.
(Tharn is absolutely not going to admit to the third set of daydreams, of curling up around Type when he’s cold or cheering him on at matches or bringing him home to meet Tharn’s father. Nope, no, definitely not.)
2MOONS SERIES
8. ** The universe where we do not commit reckless, unlubricated buttsex by startledoctopus - Forth/Beam - ~8700 words, explicit - This is a great story about Beam giving in and trying to seduce Forth the same way he seduced all of those girls in his past. This Forth is great, and the story retcons their first time to something far more pleasant for Beam.
"We're heading into a unit on disorders of the spine and I need to review my basic skeletal and muscular anatomy. But it feels stupid to keep studying these weird-looking diagrams and drawings." None of this was, strictly speaking, factual, but an engineering major wouldn't know any different. Beam gathered up all his bravado, walked behind Forth, and began rucking up his shirts as if this were completely normal.
   "What! I..."
"Shut up, I need to look at a real back so I know what I'll be looking at as a doctor." Forth let him take the shirts off, glancing back at him several times but giving in meekly to Beam's stern look. Forth shuffled the papers some more.
"All right. Okay, um...Ah!" Beam smirked at Forth's reaction as he ran his thumbs down the nape of his neck.
9. Good Things Come To by sweetiejelly - Ming/Kit - ~4300 words, explicit - Kit gets drunk and reveals more of his feelings for Ming than he probably means to.
"Hmm." Kit closes his eyes and leans his head back on the headrest. "Ming, Ming, Ming. Do you know your name's a kiss? I'm kissing the air everytime I say 'Ming'!" Kit pops his mouth and it pops Ming's mind a bit. "And then I think about kissing you. Why do you make me think about you so damn much? You're so annoying, Ming. No one's ever..." and Kit leans to the side, almost like he's going to conk out or throw up, only to straighten back up. "... made me this crazy."
Oh shit. Ming doesn't know what to do with all of this information. He knew somewhere deep down that Kit likes him. Kit's eyes can't lie. Kit's mouth can't either, the cusses coming out whenever he's keyed up and flustered, and then there are his kisses.
10 + 11. ** how to fail flirt your way into his heart (a guide by Kit) and a little conversation (and a little action please) by sweetiejelly - Ming/Kit - ~30,000 words, explicit in the second part - This story makes a tiny plot divergence. It has Kit put a little more effort into finding out if Ming is really into Yo and then from there, it loosely follows the plot of the show with some key differences. I really enjoyed this.
"Can I have your number?" Kit mentally face-palms. Why? Damn Pha. Damn Beam. Just damn everything, ugh. He has never flirted in his life. Pin asked him out, okay? He doesn't know how to do this. "I'm Kit, Phana's friend," he says, trying to make it less weird.
"I'm Ming. And of course, P'Kit!" Ming flashes him an easy grin and holds out his hand.
Oh right, the phone. Kit shoves it at Ming, nearly hitting him in the chest. Great, he's acing this.
Ming smiles at him, bemused or confused, probably both, and brushes his hand, totally unnecessarily, over the back of Kit's hand as he takes the phone. "In case of emergency, right?" Ming looks up at him from under his lashes and boy, this nong is brazen.
12. ** In Control series by LokelaniRose - Ming/Kit - ~27,000 words, explicit - Kit struggles to tell Ming that he wants something other than the careful, gentle sex they’ve been having. Ming discovers that Kit has some anxiety and panic problems. He also discovers what helps him feel better. [spoilers: these two things are connected.] I love how attentive and caring Ming is throughout this series. The anxious Kit also rings true to the character we saw on the show.
But now that Kit is fretting over things, he might as well fret over this as well. So Ming is great in bed. And let’s be honest, Kit probably isn’t. He hasn’t had a hundred previous partners – okay, tiny exaggeration, but still – and doesn’t know all the fancy moves and techniques and tricks…and just like everything else, in bed Ming is somehow casual and sincere at the same time. He never seems to want anything except what Kit wants, is always happy to do whatever, to take his time making slow, gentle love to Kit. Kit knows that he always comes at least – he secretly really likes it when Ming comes, he’s not quite sure why – but what if there’s more that Kit could be doing, to make it better for him? If Kit was better in bed maybe it would make up for being a shitty boyfriend in other areas, one who can’t be nice in public or talk about his feelings.
UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN
13. another nightmare fic by itsmylifekay - Win/Team - ~2300 words, not rated - Team tries to sleep without Win and it doesn’t go well.
Team’s room feels suffocating, the air too thick and the space too dark and the covers sticking to his skin with sweat. His breaths are too loud in the quiet, but the quiet itself is deafening. It reminds him of the water. The muted sounds. The frantic pounding of his heart. (The same one he feels now echoed in his chest.)
Flashes of the dream come back to him unbidden.
Everything is too dark, too bright, no way to see what way is up or what way is down. He’s trapped. Can’t get out. Can’t breathe.
14. ** Different With You by blackrose9212 - Win/Team - ~6900 words, teen - It’s open swim week, which means that the swimming club offers free lessons to any of the students who would like to participate. Team doesn’t understand why his teammates hate it so much - until he does. Great jealousy in this one from both sides.
“Nice to meet you,” the boy gushes. “I hope you don’t mind, but I’d like to join your group. Auntie said there needs to be at least three people, and no one was sitting across from you two. I’ve been paying attention so I already have ideas. Is that okay?” Team watches as he pulls out his books and drops them onto the table, pushing them a little farther out so they’re nearly touching Win’s notebook.
Team shrugs. “Sure, that’s fine. I don’t think Win has been paying attention so I’m glad you have an idea of what’s going on.”
Win hits him lightly at the back of the hand and Film giggles behind his hand. “Oh, no, P’Win looks very smart. I’m sure he’s been listening.” He looks at Win and smiles a little, blushing when Win gives him a smile back.
Team looks between the two of them. Then back at Film, who’s watching Win leaf through his literature textbook like he’s never seen anything so beautiful, and then past Film at the table he left from, where he sees three boys, laughing behind their hands and making cooing faces.
15. seven hundred thirteen by Kiranokira - Win/Team - ~6800 words, mature - Win spends two years abroad in England, and he and Team have to navigate a long distance relationship. It’s very sweet and written very true to life.
“I kind of hoped you were going to show up at the airport tomorrow morning and chase the plane,” Win says. He kisses Team’s hair, lingering there to memorize the fresh, clear scent.
Team says, “Is it weird that I thought about doing that?” and Win feels him smile against his shoulder.
It’s late, nearly nine thirty, and Win had plans of how to spend tonight that can’t be realized anymore. He wanted to invite Team to dinner with his family. He wanted to play video games with Team and View. He wanted to talk about London with Waan and Team. He wanted to include Team in his family’s warmth in some small way, to make him feel less lonely.
He can’t do any of that now but he still wants to sneak Team upstairs and have him in his arms all night. He wouldn’t, but he wants to. It’s been a month since he moved off campus permanently, and weeks since he was last able to spend a night alone with Team.
16. ** You Can Cry by Kiranokira - Win/Team - ~19,600 words, mature - Win goes missing while on vacation with some friends. Team is left at home trying to handle it. I like the way the author built up to the accident happening. They did a good job creating tension and showing us exactly how Team felt about Win. And spoilers, this story has a happy ending.
“You’re going to fail out of university,” Team tells him. “You’re not really going, are you?”
Win rolls onto his side and perches his cheek on his hand. “What if I say yes?” he asks. “Will you miss me?”
Team’s warning look is more venomous than usual. “Not at all,” Team says, and Win smirks because that isn’t true and they both know it. “You still shouldn’t go. What if you miss the flight back? You’ll fail out and I’ll break up with you for being a dumbass.”
The very recent phenomenon of Team acknowledging that they’re a couple has its usual melting effect on Win’s heart.
2GETHER
17. ** Love Songs on Our Skin series by Kari_Kurofai - Sarawat/Tine - ~15,700 words, explicit - A soulmark AU where Tine is born with the notes to a song that hasn’t yet been written wrapped around his chest. I enjoyed how Tine’s obliviousness in the show carries over to this fic.
Only Mr. Chic would have a song no one had ever fucking heard of permanently etched on his chest. For fuck's sake .
Still, he waves it off, and he tries not to look too closely at other people's marks. Tries being the key word. He doesn't envy the elegant watercolors of a guitar pick and an open novel he catches sight of on the wrists of some couple's interlinked hands when he's in town. And he certainly doesn't envy the dude he once saw in a coffee shop with the words " I hate you " scrawled across the back of his neck. But yeah, okay, he might be a little jealous of the people who are lucky enough to have something as simple as their soulmate's name on their skin. That definitely isn't fair.
"Why couldn't it at least have been a Scrubb song?" he asks the mirror as he wipes it clear shower-born condensation. The mirror and him are well acquainted with this conversation by now. In fact, the mirror sees the stupid mark more than anyone, so it might as well put up with his equally stupid questions. "It could have been 'Together.' Just think of it, how romantic it would be to meet some cute girl's eyes after bumping into them at a concert, my favorite song playing . . ." He draws a nail over the winding bars of the music on his chest, frowning. "That would be so much easier."
18. Drown Your Sorrows by HyacinthsSoul - 2gether/Theory of Love - Sarawat and Third meet at a bar and bond over being in love with oblivious men.
“No, he’s an angel,” Sarawat says. “Unfortunately he’s a very stupid, very straight angel.”
“Mine’s stupid too,” the other man admits. “But definitely no angel. I’m Third, by the way,” he adds, offering a slender hand to shake.
“Sarawat,” says Sarawat. “Can I buy you another? I think we’re drinking the same thing, although I can’t remember what it’s called.”
20. ** Your Body Is My Instrument by Kari_Kurofai - Sarawat/Tine - ~12,000 words, explicit - This fic does a good job doing what, in this reccer’s humble opinion, the series failed to: showing Tine attracted to Sarawat. There’s great first time sex and some fun sexual tension. Plus, we get to see them switch off, which is extremely rare in BL. And most importantly: hand kink.
It starts innocently enough. Or, well, innocently enough for a guy whose first words to him were, “Keep looking at me like that and I’ll kiss you till you drop.” So, you know. It starts kinda like that.
They’ve been officially dating for a grand sum total of three days and altogether not that much has changed. Except that Sarawat touches him more now. Normally this would be fine, no big deal, right? But Sarawat has magic, evil hands, and apparently all he has to do is glance Tine’s way to deduce the exact right places and ways to touch Tine to drive him up the fucking wall.
And the worst part is it’s almost never the same place or the same way twice, and the only warning Tine ever gets is that sneaky little glint Sarawat gets in his eyes just before he does it, the bastard.
MY ENGINEER
21. Cool Boy(friend) by HyacinthsSoul - Ram/King - ~22,000 words, explicit - So this is technically a WIP, but each chapter feels like a completed fic without a cliffhanger or anything. This is a very sweet, comfortable story about King and Ram getting to know each other as their relationship develops.
In the selfie King sends, he’s holding up a full shot glass while someone’s arm reaches into the frame to hand him another kind of drink, something tall with a straw and a paper umbrella. Ram frowns. Whose arm is that? The person is wearing a red long-sleeved shirt, which doesn’t match what any of their friend group was wearing, and the engineer bar doesn’t offer table service.
Frowning, Ram looks back through the previous photos until he spots a detail he’d overlooked before: a red-shirted man at a neighboring table. He’s visible in the background of two or three pictures taken by Tee, and in each of them he’s staring intently at King.
Not that it’s any of Ram’s business. Not that he cares.
HISTORY3: TRAPPED
22. it’s too late (to turn back now) by stebeee - Tang Yi/Meng Shao Fei - ~7200 words, general audiences - Canon divergence fic where Tang Yi pushes Shao Fei away after he saves Hong Ye in order to try and protect him. Shao Fei reacts to that about as well as you’d expect.
“Tang Yi, what do you mean-“
“I think you’ve fooled around for long enough,” Tang Yi interrupts, his voice cold, nothing like the man who had dabbed at his lips with a cotton bud last night, the man who had smiled at him when he made the cannon joke.
“You’ve disrupted my life, and the life of my family and friends in the past few weeks, Meng Shao Fei. This has gone for long enough,” he continues, unwavering. “I don’t want to have anything more to do with you. Take a good rest here in the hospital, and I’ll get someone to pack up your things back at the house. Jack will deliver it back to your apartment.”
23 + 24. ** just waiting, waiting (on you) and between you and me by stebeee - Tang Yi/Meng Shao Fei - ~16,000 words, general audiences - These are stories about how Shao Fei and the rest of the gang deal over the years when Tang Yi is in jail. Found family fics are my jam, so I loved this.
The thing is, it’s been almost three months of this. 90 days, give or take. 2,160 hours. 129,600 minutes. And more than 7 million seconds of this — not having Tang Yi at his side.
Shao Fei wonders for a moment if he will ever stop seeing Tang Yi in every corner of the house. When he comes down the stairs in the morning, some part of him expects to see Tang Yi standing at the kitchen island with a bright smile, asking him if he wants jam with his toast that morning. Shao Fei sees Tang Yi in that apron he loves, cooking at the stove when he fixes himself dinner, alone in the spacious kitchen. Seeing Tang Yi’s favourite blue bathrobe, Shao Fei can almost see Tang Yi leaving the bathroom, his hair all wet and falling over his eyes.
25. amuse bouche by sarahyyy - Jack/Zhao Zi - ~2400 words, general audiences - This is more of Jack seducing Zhao Zi through food and attention. So basically an extension of the show. Mother hen Jack is the cutest.
“Jack?” Zhao Zi murmurs blearily. “Why are you here?”
“Why didn’t you tell me you were sick?” Jack shoots back, herding Zhao Zi back into the house. He checks for Zhao Zi’s temperature with the back of his hand. “Fever?”
“Just the flu for now, I think?” Zhao Zi says.
Jack purses his lips. “Have you had anything to eat?”
“I had some bread earlier?” Zhao Zi says, but he also looks shifty enough that Jack mostly takes it with a grain of salt.
26. Absolutely Nothing Goes Wrong by anon - Jack/Zhao Zi - ~4500 words, teen - This is an AU where Zhao Zi is the son of a rival mob boss, but he’s still, you know HIMSELF. And when his father says he’s useless, he decides to prove him wrong by seducing Tang Yi’s second-in-command. It’s absolutely adorable.
The man pulled him by the arm, resisting Zhao Zi’s attempts to unhook his claws without causing a scene.
“Hey, stop grabbing me!” he shouted, as the other man played deaf.
“While I admit this is a very loud bar, I didn’t think it was quite so easy to mishear what this young man just yelled straight into your ear,” a newcomer who’d witnessed their conflict said lightly as he walked up to them. His words were accompanied by a wide, almost chilling smile. Zhao Zi blinked once and the odd peculiarity of that smile vanished, leaving just a regular smile in its place. He must’ve just been imagining things under the harsh shadows of the dimly lit bar.
AND +2
Because I’m shameless, I’ll add my own two fics to the end, if you’re interested.
WHY R U?
27. Sorry A Thousand Times - Fighter/Tutor - ~3200 words, explicit - This is a canon divergence for the series finale. I needed more catharsis after the intensity of episode 12.
Tutor narrowed his eyes and clenched his fists at his sides. He took a deep breath. “How many times do I have to tell you to leave me alone before you listen?” he asked. I don’t know how many more times I can bring myself to say it.
“Only once,” Fight said and then added, “if you mean it.”
Tutor crossed his arms over his chest and said, “What makes you think I don’t mean it now?”
The corner of Fight’s mouth turned up and he took a step closer. Tutor stumbled back until he was stopped by his legs hitting the edge of the bed. Fight reached out a hand and gently ran the back of his fingers over the line of Tutor’s jaw.
Until We Meet Again
28. Dream On - Win/Team - 8900 words, explicit - Takes place alongside show canon, so that we see how the bed sharing began and how Win and Team’s relationship developed over that year.
“Do you want to do well tomorrow?” Win asked, throwing one of his legs over both of Team’s.
“Yes,” Team said as he did his best to put some space between them on the tiny mattress.
“Then you need to get some sleep. I’m helping.”
“How is this helping?” Team demanded.
“Would you stop…” Win said, shifting closer every time Team pulled away. “Five minutes, Team. Just be still for five minutes, okay?”

Author Spotlight: Coffeegleek Day 3
Tumblr media
Author : @coffeegleek
How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?
At least a few revisions. Then multiple editing passes, and even with my spouse as my proofreader for the past 25+ years, and doing more editing passes before posting to AO3, I still find annoying little typos, sometimes large ones.
If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?
There was a crack fic I stopped writing years ago. It was a self-challenge during one of those tumblr trope challenges. I was trying to combine all of the tropes into the same fic as they were announced. It got zero traction though so I gave up. I'd love to go back and complete it, make it better. I had the whole thing outlined too.
What do you look for in a beta?
My spouse. We've been together for decades. He's been proofreading my original science fiction work and various fandoms' fanfics since before we were married. He even proofreads my Klaine smut and doesn't blink an eye. (He's a Glee fan too and on tumblr.) He knows what I'm trying to say when I can't find the right words and supplies them. He catches things I don't. What I love the most is for my original work, he's written his own fanfic. It's BAD. It truly is, but it's so heartfelt and earnest. He even came up with a soundtrack should I ever publish my sci-fi novel and the movie or show rights be bought. You really can't get a better beta than that. <3
There’s a number of friends on tumblr that I bounce ideas off of and who give me advice for topics they know far more about than me and google. I try to thank them in my fics.
If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
I’m going to steal another author’s recent answer and say that I could never do someone else’s work justice. However, I would love to see the author’s ideas for their fics even if they couldn’t write a prequel or sequel.
I suck at remembering titles and author names. There were two political fics that I would love to read more of should their authors ever decide to write in those verses again. One was where Kurt and Blaine's dads were running for president and Kurt and Blaine were along for the ride, staying in the same hotels at time (where they first met,) having to do school remotely, having to be the perfect sons for the press and Blaine being fed up because his parents were conservative Republicans. Then there was another fic where Burt was president and Kurt was the First Son living in the White House, along with Finn, and it was hard to date when your every move is watched by the press.
Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?
I write AU, so canon is only a word often misspelled by me. :) Seriously though, I try to incorporate as many canon elements and characters into my AU fics as I can. It's the kind of AU I like to read as well. What draws me to read and write AUs is taking canon characters, putting them into a different setting, and seeing how they'll react. At their core, they still need to remain the same in principle and have many of the same traits. Like Kurt will always love fashion and be headstrong no matter what. Blaine is always going to have that spark within himself, no matter how depressed or oppressed he gets. Burt and Carole are always going to be loving and nurturing parents at heart. Even in fics where Burt isn't woke, there's a part of him that means well. (Not one of my own fics, but one I read a long time ago.) Different circumstances will change the canon characters and make them react in different ways though. Like, Kurt could end up more withdrawn and hide his love of fashion as a matter of survival and self preservation. He or Blaine could turn into "bad boys." Coach Beiste will always have a heart of gold. Miss Pillsbury will always have a problem with messes. Things like that. I know canon. Give me all the alternate universe versions of it and I will be a happy camper.
Talk about a review that made your day.
I haven't checked for reviews on my fics in ages (because I'm an insecure chicken) so I don't remember any specifically. I do remember there were many that made my day. There are those who take the time to review every chapter. Ones who write only a short note to thank me for writing the fic - both the angsty ones and the cracky fun ones. I love it when someone mentions something that no one else has that I was hoping someone would notice because I was proud of it. I'm not a popular author and don't get a lot of kudos or comments or reblogs compared to many. So each comment and kudos means a lot to me and I'd like to publicly thank every single person who wrote one or hit that kudos button.
Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?
I once got a troll who decided it was his job to complain that I had misspelled hors d'oeuvres in one sentence out of an entire verse where the word was written multiple times correctly. It was a series of Klaine Advent one shots for the Empty Nest verse. At first I was shocked and replied with an apology. Then I was, "F this. The person is a troll who didn't read any other part of the fic or verse, just this one quickly written one shot entry, and if all they had to say was that I'd misspelled a commonly misspelled word, then they aren't worth my time." I deleted the comment. There's concrit and trolling. It wasn't concrit.
What advice do you have for people just starting to write?
Have fun writing, even the hard stuff. Know that it's okay to take breaks. Try your best and know you'll get better the more you write and the more you read. Pronouns are your friend and free. Don't put, "I know this is going to suck, so whatever," in your fic description. We all suck at times. It's a part of writing. But if you want folks to read it, using that as your fic's summary isn't the way to go. Just my opinions, which won't even buy you a cup of coffee.
Which fic do you most like to discuss with other people? Why?
I think it’s pretty obvious from all of my rambling that I enjoy talking about both of my series - Empty Nest verse and A Very Hallmark Christmas verse.  I'm not a popular author and I know my fics, especially the Empty Nest verse ones, aren’t everyone’s thing, so I never get to really discuss them except with friends that I bug to death in private and via long replies to comments on AO3. (You all are saints blessed by all of the good and patient gods.) I have so much to say about them - the process of writing them, the world building, research, and character decisions that went into every single one. I know they’re not perfect. I know the Empty Nest verse grew miles beyond the ficlette about Burt and Carole that it was meant to be. I know my sense of humor in the Hallmark verse isn’t everyone’s thing either. I still worked really hard on them and am glad that I did. Empty Nest let me release a lot of the fear and anxiety I had for my Hispanic and gay son after the 2016 election. The Hallmark ones were a needed break to put some humor into my life. If others enjoyed them, great. If folks want to know more, my inbox is always open.
What's one aspect of writing fic that gets you really excited?
Writing humor even if I'm the only one that finds it funny. As I said above, writing the Hallmark Christmas movie dialogue and plot and the actors as they were filming it was a blast. Writing the commercials was fun and exciting. In my angsty fics, knowing I wrote a good scene, line, or moment that brought out all the feels. That's more of “satisfaction of a job well done” than excited.

Humorous Spooky Drabbles -  Humorous drabbles to spookish type prompts based on a tumblr post called October Drabble Prompts #1 by hallofceleano. The parts in bold and italic are from those prompts. Characters include Kurt, Blaine, Burt, Carole, and Finn. All fun; only #4 has some mild angst. #4 is for snarkyhag and regarding #5 - I know next to nothing about Twilight and had to look up Taylor Lautner on imdb. The liberties I took are my own.
A Very Sloppy Christmas - lucy8675309 posted to tumblr a series of gifs with Kurt dressed up as an elf. It inspired me to write the following prompt, which CoffeeAddict80 encouraged me to write as a fic:
I now want a fic where real Santa’s elf!Kurt gets drunk and vents to Blaine about all the woes of working for Santa. He’s over 100 years old and the outfits are terrible. Why couldn’t they wear clothes like the elves did in that one movie? Drunk elf Kurt has no idea he’s venting to Santa’s son.
Bonus if he wakes up and realizes he just had a drunken one night stand. He isn’t sure who it was with. Only that he’s naked, the guy in the bed beside him is naked and showing off a really great ass. Then said guy turns over and after Kurt’s done staring at his dick, he looks at the guy’s face and realizes who it is.
It’s a Twisted World -  I decided to challenge myself by combining the posted 5 weekly Klaine AU Friday themes and adding another one of my own. So that means: Farm, Fairytale, Vintage (1900’s,) Super Powers, Zombie Apocalypse, and Harry Potter World Klaine with a splash of a fic idea I thought of while in the produce section of the grocery store. Each week, the story will continue, though each part stands alone. This is not a brilliant work of perfectly composed fan fiction. What it is, is fast-paced, cracky fun, with a large dose of innuendo. At least it had my son laughing his ass off. I hope y'all enjoy it too. :)

Tadeo and Internalized Ableism
Well… this…
Wasn't actually the next post I planned to make next for this fandom, but well, since Tumblr deleted an old post of mine, right when I decided I was going to scream and share that OC again… Well, it lead into a discussion that I had sort of-- half started and stopped a few times, and now here I am… And… this will be a lot, sooo--
Tumblr media
"What is with You?"
Let's see if I can shed some light on this.
So first… to catch up the uninitiated… I have, by this point cemented my belief that Tadeo is quite likely Autistic himself(Read that post here). So now alongside the rather more obvious Autism that Mummy displays we have Tadeo-- Tadeo, who has one character trait/flaw that keeps coming up and that I would personally like to dissect along with some extra reflection on some of his actions in the sequel and the hints given to us in the little animated/stylized growing up sequence for Tadeo…
So to start…
What's the trait/flaw…
Well, it's even looking to be the BIG ONE for the next Movie. Tadeo seeks the validation and respect of his peers, but always falls short.
Tad would love for his archaeologist colleagues to accept him as one of their own, but he always messes everything up.
Or else turns them against him... Which... Okay, this is something that we've actually seen as a rule for him, from the opening credits of Movie 1. And even from his Construction Worker peers... Although we didn't really see it so much in movie 2, buuut--
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOqolHchI6Y&t=6s
Let's start this analysis off properly with this, and the symbolism re: Maladaptive Daydreaming in this whole little introductory to Tadeo sequence here from the first movie.
Which okay, look, I know it might not seem like much. But in the greater context, well. There's actually a lot of information that we can unpack in this short introduction, and points one and two I would like to make are the ones with Young Tadeo in the school "classroom". Because here's the thing...
That-- That's a familiar place. And it's an unfortunate thing, but-- Just how it's framed here--
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I... can't really say anything 100% on this... but this feels much too close to daydreaming away Public humiliation. Like, look, okay-- it's all too common, but public shaming for one reason or another. Being too dumb/distracted, or if you're stimming in class-- and I have... many feelings about Tadeo and potentially supressing his stims-- but these scenes in this opening hit really close to how it feels--
And again, maladaptive daydreaming in general is this WHOLE sequence.
Soooo why does this matter in the context of this discussion? Well, let's ask why, this all would be happening. And the answer is going to be very simple. The same reason at the start of movie 1, one of the first scenes we see is a pair of boys teasing/mocking Tadeo in his front garden dig site.
Tumblr media
"You'll never find anything"
"Loser"
Which-- isn't much, but for the context of the scene. This is our introduction-- and even in the sequel, we know he's still teased over his interest in Archaeology-- it's seen as a "loser hobby". Which I think also brings me to the next point of the moments in the opening...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
JEFF! Give him a puppy since nobody wanted to be the weird kid's friend. It's not even a proper balm really. And possibly might have incidentally caused some other issues, but I don't think I could really explain or give those things justice... So instead... I'm just going to finish this section with a point of note.
How many times must Tadeo have gotten punished for being "distracted" or "not paying attention" in the classroom. How many times would he have been punished for stimming?! I really do wonder, and if anything else, how many classes must he have daydreamed away to escape from the stress and pressure of reality? Hell, we still see him as an adult stress daydreaming--
With the consequences of getting fired...
Which okay, none of this actually makes my point. So-- I want to draw attention to the behaviour in the sequel that really annoyed me, along with a friend who I watched both movies with. It's just the behaviour that's there throughout the whole movie-- best summed up as... not appreciating company... BUT
On that actually--
I would like to bring up one expression early on that gives me MANY EMOTIONS.
And it's the one up above, as the preview image to this post. Specifically this face:
Tumblr media
Now... I don't know about you, or anyone else. But THAT'S a thousand yard stare if I have ever seen one. But additionally. I have, a much, much too in depth reading on this expression. Like, so far in depth it's not even funny.
There's a sense of fear, long stare, the small twitch in the frown as if guilt-- and then because it's literally on the heels of "stop drawing attention" (the first occurrence of that line as well)... And just-- you get flashback sense. Also I would like to comment on the movement in this scene, in how his hands are on the wheel the small twitches and quirk in his expression... it's as if--
As if...
Well. Look, considering the precursor scene. And listen. WE ALL want to do what Mummy done in that prior scene!
Tumblr media
Same Mummy! SAME!
But-- I would like to talk about sequencing and the emotions in when and how Tadeo drags him in... there's a moment I really can't quite catch properly... between it, but--
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This frown... this thinky frown... and the line draw-- Tadeo? Is that guilt mulling over a decision? And there is a double glance, but that's not something I can catch in screenshots, and I don't know how to make Gifs... but the following sequence and expressions and I just can't with my emotions and what kind of feeling Tadeo gives me here.
It just...
I really want to know what he's thinking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So... let's talk about this expression. I don't know if it's just me, but again, there is... a sense of-- well almost upset for being a "kill joy". Bursting Mummy's bubble... Popping his fun. And considering we have ALL been there and wanted to stick our heads out the window--
BUT--
Why is this a detail I would like to bring up... well it comes into how Tadeo explains things. Mummy scares people, he's different, a Zombie in their world... which yeah, that's fair... BUT! After so many rewatches... and remembering that promise... promise sealed with such an important object to Tadeo--
I just have a lot of thoughts... and I don't think it's really easy to explain, but I would like to draw back to a background detail in the sequel again...
In relation...
Tumblr media
And... as an Aside. Specifically... the promise made... or what Mummy asked in Movie 1.
"If I let you go, could you guarantee me you'll let us live in peace?"
Tumblr media
Also, I know this seems arbitrarily related... But I do wonder if some of Tadeo's pushing Mummy aside, stop drawing attention, you need better disguises... I do wonder, really wonder if it's actually because of this promise... misguided and maladapted maybe buuut-- it would make some sense in the context of how there is always something in the background of those moments that Tadeo is just worrying about.
BUT
That's only speculation, and not even one that holds up in relation to some of the worst offence moments of Tadeo's problematic behaviour...
And thus... let us enter into the realm of problem projecting... and with some bonus from Tiffany and how she makes this dynamic juuust that touch more clear on rewatches along with my own talk about this particular topic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a minor note, this scene actually doesn’t have much. But I kind of get... more specifically this grumpy dad/parental friend from Tad's expression. And considering. "I told you to wait in the car!" BUT ALSO, I just want to note how Sara is less worried in this scene. More if this is happening-- Tad's worry, again could be the promise...
But more specifically... There's a lot in Mummy's body language and appearance aside what he is-- the truth of his origin aside... he does not fit in... and it's specifically the outfit, breaking the "rule" that Tadeo worries about... drawing attention and eyes... and considering the next image set I want to talk about... I have emotions, but it's very messy, and kind of scrambled.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have... a number of statements I could make on this one... but number one, exactly what the dialogue here actually is... And where that worry is coming from. Tadeo... isn't actually scared of Tiffany here realizing what Mummy is... I think that cat's long out the bag... but there's something else.
"Your friend is a bit weird"
"You have no idea"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sooo... there's a lot of scenes here... and a few more, but I really, really want to talk about something. For a lot of this... Tadeo is really the only one who has an expression of worry, or fear, or anything that's similar. Tadeo's the one worried.
Mummy is bopping out, I can't really get a good shot of the dress, but again, Mummy... isn't really bothered or anything. Tiffany is also the only one who really has a weirded out reaction... but that actually strengthens the point I'm going to make about what this feels like more than anything else... And I suppose we can touch base on the queer aspect on that note but really--
For a lot of this stuff...
Tadeo's issue is drawing attention. But for the other part of it... I want to point to Tiffany's reaction and even much later... how the villain identifies him.
Also Tadeo's reaction in the last one is... arguably the worst of all his reactions. Like, I have-- many emotions on a lot of his reactions but just-- Tadeo is not in a good place right now...
"Are you serious WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
Which... hmmm, now, where have I heard that before? Where have any of us heard that one before? In fact-- Tadeo... his reaction to ALL of this is telling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like... aside the Tiffany thing... which also her whole "It's official, your friend is a total FREAK" has some baggage... does anyone else look at all these scenes and get that...
"I'm THIS close to a panic attack" feeling? Also, on that note, I would like to point out there's just... so, so much worry from Tadeo when it comes to the Super Cookie scene, again not something I can really capture in just screenshots. BUT--
BUT--
This brings me to the big point. Mummy by this point is basically masking/mimicking Tad to fit in. Since Tadeo has shot down, all of his disguises... and-- Tadeo's response, has always been that fear. But here, there's an outright anxiety. Which again this could be covered/passed as him being-- well, anxious over his promise. But there's also MASSIVE ANXIETY with the Super Cookie scene, more than I can really capture without the animation... but...
Let's talk about projecting issues.
And specifically.
"A total FREAK"
Now... here's the thing. Again. Mummy throughout the WHOLE movie has been, pretty much dropping the mask. He's going wild and having fun being himself and happy... but-- for that he's pretty much been shut down at every turn... MOSTLY by Tadeo pre-emptively... but... I want to point out something...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is... Such a small interaction... but it is SUPER telling.
Tiffany is... an issue. Because here's the thing. Part of her reaction, might actually be bleed through from how Tadeo's been in this WHOLE situation. Which, again there is a lot for me to unpack and talk about... But my biggest lynchpin and realization moment... for what's going on... is that scene with Mummy dressing up and mimicking Tadeo...
And more or less picking on Tad's insecurities.
WHICH-- underhanded, BUT IT POINTS OUT A RECONTEXUALIZATION POINT.
Because here's the thing... Tadeo... Stifles those things.
"I would never! I'M NOTHING LIKE THAT!"
And then the sheer panic with Jeff, and the super cookie, and what if?
Let's go back to this for a moment:
Tumblr media
Now... for a moment... imagine... a kid...
No friends. Just a dog. Jeff is... Tadeo's security blanket, and possibly one of his only friends. People only seem to tolerate Tad at best. He's still bullied and teased and mocked and--
And--
And can never do things right. A screw up. So he stifles his stims... like seriously. Go watch when he does his happy dance, and see how long it lasts-- and then see this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there are moments from the first movie as well, buuut-- He IMMEDIATELY stifles it when he catches himself... and I know something about stifling stims... sooo how is the relevant... well... I would like to propose that fear anxiety/overprojection idea.
Tadeo is scared... Scared not even necessarily of Mummy's identity being out... but of how people will react... AND Let's talk of something else...
Considering what's been revealed about a certain Descubre con Tadeo scene... Mummy knows... and he's aware... and that's internalized... but... There's a BIGGER issue with Tadeo... He's... not just embarrassed by his own stims and actions and his own "oddness"
But that's bleeding over to what looks like projected embarrassment and shame and a deep, deep fear, in regards to how he interacts and works with Mummy. And I know this is big brain and heavy... but Mummy's side of things...
Small and subtle. "Weirdo like me!"
Tadeo, has gone to trying to be normal, and while Mummy feels it, he owns it.
Which... brings me to the end of this whole thing. But not fully, because there is... a small thing more. For all Tadeo has been a DISASTER throughout the whole thing. Overprojected worry that just reeks of that second hand embarrassment projection... Tadeo proves he cares in a small moment that I don't think people would think too much about...
Not in front of a crowd, and he still needs a smack...
LIKE A SERIOUS ONE.
Tumblr media
Like, look, for all Tadeo has been a disaster projecting issues friend... he does care, and this moment subtly reminds that. ALONG with that it IS projected worries and issues. And... Internalized ableism that makes him embarrassed. Of himself, and more, of how free Mummy is acting with his own neurodivergent behaviours. Tadeo is... a mess.
And...
Now I need to circle back for a moment.
Because here's the thing. Tadeo might not be doing this, mostly because I don't think he's a writer, but the point of call that made this post... was me getting excited about sharing an OC...
Specifically...
Tumblr media
My smurfs OC... one who I made a post on back in 2017, that has now been deleted... and I will not be reposting it... but if you want the details... I turned it into a doc for sharing... But... the biggest thing is... the logic behind making this character, and giving them the name they have had up until recently was... Internalized Ableism and trying to deal with bullying... Also not everything in that document is even accurate anymore...
But hey, kudos to me in 2017 for trying to explain it.
But...
"Call a self-insert [Insult] because it made the word hurt a little less(it's only the truth right?)"
This is Mummy's approach... while Tadeo... tries to be normal, normal, and shun it to the point he hurts himself. And... inadvertently hurts others around him as well...
I will probably make a few smaller clarification posts later, since this is practically 2700 words and I feel like I've only barely explained it, but really, how can you even explain this properly? It's just one of those nuances...
But yeah... internalized ableism and the beast it is making relationships and talk hard... even between two neurodivergent icons of characters.

Time is flying before my eyes, I cannot believe one of my favorite high-school era movies is now 20 years old with today’s entry for 1999’s Detroit Rock City (trailer). 1999 was an influential year for then-16-year old Dale with fond memories at the theater that year like The Matrix, Fight Club, Office Space, South Park, Payback and yes, even Go! I vividly remember my high school friend Rich and I being the sole people in the theater for Detroit Rock City and once we realized that a few minutes into the film, we then jumped at the opportunity to snag the pair of the far more comfortable handicap seats in the theater. Rich and I were somehow tamer version of the four high-school rebels who will overcome all odds put in their path to see their favorite band KISS, circa 1978 when KISS fever was running wild! Hawk (Edward Furlong), Jam (Sam Huntington), Trip (James DeBallo) and Lex (Giuseppe Andrews) are ardent KISS fans and even do routine garage-band jam sessions under the moniker, ‘Mystery.’ The opening features a fantastic Mystery rock session of them butchering I Wanna Rock N Roll All Night and setting the stage for all four being hyped to finally see KISS in concert. Obstacles are in their way however as Jam’s super-Christian mother (Lin Shaye) finds and burns their tickets and now the four must persevere on a road trip to Detroit and promise each other that no matter what they will find a way into that KISS concert.
I forgot how fast Detroit Rock City moved, it is only a 90 minute film and nearly the entire back half is the four arriving in Detroit and agreeing to split up with each Mystery-member going on their own mini-adventure to find a way at scoring KISS tickets. There is a lot of fun setup in the opening half, especially a couple fun high school hallway chase scenes and a delightful encounter with a pair of disco thugs, but the back half where the four split up is where the film shines. Jam bumps into an old classmate Beth (Melanie Lynskey), but not before bumping into his protesting mother. Lex gets into all kinds of mischief trying to sneak in backstage, Trip lives up to his name by attempting to beat up a little kid for tickets while Hawk enters a strip-dance contest in hopes of winning enough cash to get tickets from a scalper. All four paths go wildly off course, and when the four reconvene for one last ditch plan of scoring tickets I nearly lost it all over again watching the resulting plan unfold. I feel obligated to give props to the 70s rock tribute soundtrack. This can easily be a substitute for the next Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, and this is one of only several movie soundtracks I own, but for good reason! Rest assured, it is not a slapped together best of KISS album, as the film’s featured band only has three songs in the soundtrack. The other 12 songs are a nice variety of classic rock jams and all-new covers. Everclear covers The Boys are Back in Town while Thin Lizzy themselves have Jailbreak included. Pantera has an awesome rendition of Cat Scratch Fever while Marilyn Manson reels in his own take on Highway to Hell. Black Sabbath’s Iron Man kicks in at one of my favorite scenes in the movie, and yes KISS’s Detroit Rock City is here in all its glory.
The original DVD release of this was one of several DVDs I purchased while eagerly awaiting the months leading up to the PS2 launch. It and the Fight Club DVDs were what turned me into a bonus features junkie with both having slick menus and loaded with extras. I am glad all the original DVD extras were carried onto the BluRay, but a little bummed at the lack of any BluRay exclusives. A quick thrown together panel with the cast and crew looking back many years later on the film I would have loved. As it stands, the returning extras are not slim picking by any means. There are 18 minutes of deleted scenes worth diving into to see interesting extended takes on several scenes and the only scene to a super-secret second movie they were going to make during downtime, but never panned out. Other bonus features highlights include an instructor teaching how to play I Wanna Rock N Roll All Night in under 10 minutes, alternate angles of the opening and closing scenes, a pair of music videos and two unique behind-the-scenes videos. Looking into the Sun features some wild editing as the four main cast members borrows a camera and films them goofing off intermittently throughout the production. Misc Shit is a longer, 37 minute all-encompassing making of feature interviewing the cast, crew and Gene Simmons too! Topping it off is three feature-length audio commentaries. Director Adam Rifkin is solely on one, several cast and crew members are stitched together from several recorded interviews in another, and all four members of KISS are interviewed separately in 15-20 minute chunks for the final commentary. I bounced between all three on my second viewing which was a fascinating experience, especially the way the interviews were kind of pasted together in some of the commentary tracks. Highlights from the commentaries include displeasure of not landing Jonathon Taylor Thomas in the lead role, KISS members reflecting back on their first film from 1978 and Rifkin fighting against the studio’s orders to edit down the film to a PG-13 rating. Despite lack of new extras, the recycled bonuses are well worth checking out again.
This movie hit at the perfect time for me which is why I have been raving about it throughout this whole entry. After seeing it initially with Rich, I watched my DVD copy several times in the following years after turning my brother onto the film. I am not a diehard KISS fan by any means, but you do not have to be to enjoy this film. I resonate with it on many levels because I can relate to the fandom of doing anything to see some of my favorite bands in my teenage years and how those first concerts I saw felt like mind-blowing experiences. Detroit Rock City nails that feeling to a T and the whole trek to get there is a journey as riveting as the final destination, and because of that I can only give Detroit Rock City my highest recommendation! I don't know what kind of fan artists you follow, but I see a lot of art of Allura that makes her look beautiful?? The reason she isn't ogled by all the men in VLD isn't because she's black, it's because people realised how fucking sexist and creepy it is to portray women in that way so instead we have Lance visibly developing feelings for her overtime and telling the audience how serious those feelings are in S6, which is far better. It's just unfortunate her race changed at the same time (1/?)
OJust as it’s unfortunate they tried to use a scenario from Macross on Shiro and Adam and didn’t realise it’s unethical to do it with a gay couple. A lot of things they did came off wrong, but you can see they had good intentions.  However, due to things you’ve said in the past I still believe you don’t give a single fuck about representation for black women and are just trying to…look woke, I guess? Idk what you’re trying to do but you’re not fooling anyone.
—-
If you’ve seen my posts, you should know by now I don’t care about being “woke”.  It just annoys me to no end when people claim to be doing things under the veneer of social justice to cover for their own faults, or do so in such a haphazard way that it only makes them look worse.  I ask for consistency and effort above all.
As for Allura fanart that makes her look beautiful?  Well, I’ve seen some recently (people have been kind enough to post some for me to try and counter my pre-conceived notions), but then you get stuff like…this.  (a supposed ideal version of Allura)
https://voltronuniversaldefender.tumblr.com/post/176462035058/voltronuniversaldefender-priestess-farah-of
And a thankfully deleted post where someone redrew scenes while giving Allura stereotypical “blackface” features.
And the bonus “She’s a lesbian Harold” headcanon Klance fans push -
https://here-come-dat-pidge.tumblr.com/post/162141884773/psa
No one in the story cares about her other than the occasional token “She’s beautiful” statement that could be given in such a monotone voice it would be forgotten, and the fanon constantly is saying that Lance doesn’t really even like her.  Lance’s relationship with Allura from a writing perspective is horribly written, which is why it completely disappeared during Season 7 save one token mention that the fandom, again, cried foul over.
I can fully appreciate that a lot of decisions were made out of ignorance rather than malice, but that just begs the question even more - Why make such a big deal out of it?  Why parade these things around when you were just going to make new stereotypes?  Consistency.  It’s all I ask.  If you’re going to make having a black princess the point, or a gay hero be the point, put some goddamn effort into it!  That has nothing to do with being “woke” or any of that nonsense, that has to do with liking good writing!

I often write quite a bit that doesn't end up in whatever I'm working on, and I'm not always sure what to do with them. Sometimes they end up going in later in the fic, or in a completely different fic, and other times, they just sit there in my folders of text files.
Here's what was going to be the opening to the JAT fix-it fic, except now I'm going to start in a different place in the timeline, where the plot really begins. This scene opens more or less where "Suicide Run" is supposed to finish off - the morning after the Battle of Endor.
I find the idea of drunk!Jedi so freakin' amusing, you have no idea, and also I love Artoo and Luke's dynamic here. Poor Threepio. Poor, poor Threepio.
The morning after the Battle of Endor, Luke Skywalker woke face-down on pile of rope nets, several dozen meters above the ground on a wooden platform, with the worst hangover of his life. Ughhhh, he thought blearily as the sunlight woke him.
It had been a very long night. He'd gotten back to the Ewok village late after his father's funeral pyre had burned to the ground. With all the dancing and revelry that followed, it had been near dawn before he'd collapsed in exhaustion in an out-of-the-way corner where Artoo had powered down. And of course, well before that, Han and Lando had persuaded him to try the Ewok's redberry wine - which had gone straight to Luke's head. All his Jedi training had flown out the window, and he hadn't been able to resist anything after that.
He vaguely remembered making a fool of himself - and that he hadn't been the only one. After all, it wasn't every day that your father died, or the Galactic Empire fell, or your tribe had won a huge victory against unwanted interlopers, and Rebels and Ewoks alike had followed Luke's lead.
Well. Maybe not in everything.
Beside him, Artoo beeped, pleased to see that Luke was awake. The sound made his head ache even more. How the droid could sound so goddamn cheerful right now, Luke didn't know.
"Ohhhh, no," he said slowly, forcing himself to sit up, although he really didn't feel like it. "I'm fine, Artoo. Fine. Really." The world spun a bit, but it wasn't entirely a lie.
Artoo informed Luke cheerfully that he had recorded holo footage of the previous evening's celebration, and asked if would Luke be interested in viewing it.
"Huh?" Memories sloshed through his mind - still vague, but growing clearer. He had an increasing suspicion he'd made a fool of himself. "Why'd you do that?"
Artoo reminded Luke that last night had been a momentous occasion that needed to be preserved to ensure the accuracy of the historical record.
Oh. He did remember now. That was awkward. "You got me lifting Threepio into the air and spinning him around in time to the music? And then joining him when Han said I couldn't?"
Luke wasn't questioning Artoo's competence, was he? Besides, Threepio was going to be beside himself when he learned that Artoo had recorded the whole thing--
Oh, hell. The odds of getting Artoo to delete the footage were slim, so he switched to damage control. "All right, all right, I get it. But don't show those recordings to anyone unless I say so, okay?"
Artoo acquiesced grudgingly, admitting he didn't require the footage to tease Threepio; it was just a bonus.
It had been over a year since Luke had gotten drunk, but he didn't remember the aftermath ever being this bad. Redberry wine must be more potent than he'd assumed, more so than the moonshine he was used to drinking with the Rogues - back before he'd gone to Dagobah and was just another hotshot pilot from a backwater planet, talented but nothing too out of the ordinary.
Now - things were different. He hadn't been ordinary for a long time, not since he'd started training with Yoda and stepped far beyond the boundaries of his old life.
Luke had been the center of the attention after destroying the first Death Star, but this time, no one was celebrating him. After all, he hadn't been part of the aerial assault like Lando and Nien Nunb and Wedge, nor had he taken out the shield generator with Han and Leia and Chewie. At best, he'd been a distraction - diverting the attention of Vader and the Emperor, so that they had no time or energy to focus on the larger battle that raged outside the Death Star's walls. But no one knew that, except Leia and perhaps Han, and Luke wasn't ready for the rest of the world to find out.
Maybe someday. Bu not yet. Not yet.
It was good that no one was looking closely at him, because he wasn't sure he was ready to face the world yet. The memories of yesterday's battle were still too vivid, too fresh, too raw for him to handle social niceties with anything approaching grace. At least this morning, he could blame it on the alcohol.
He hoped Han and Lando were nursing equally violent hangovers, or else there was no justice in the world. They'd drunk as much as he had, if not more. Then again, they were used to heavy drinking, or at least liquor more potent than Luke could handle. I wonder if the Force can help with that, he thought, and made a quiet vow to find out, preferably under less public circumstances.
Last night...
Last night, he'd been visited by the ghosts of Ben Kenobi, Yoda and Anakin Skywalker, radiating their love and approval. He wondered if they had seen what an idiot he'd been afterwards. Hell, he deserved a lecture, or a few blows from Yoda's stick. He didn't think the old Jedi had foregone temperance quite as badly as Luke had last night.
Last night, despite the joyous crowd, he'd felt isolated and detached, his relief at their victory mixed with melancholy for all that had been suffered and lost that day. Without Leia's quiet steering, he might have drifted off into the shadows again, unmoored and untenanted. Thank goodness for Leia. He owed her so much.
But no, he had another anchor. The seeds. The seeds from the Jedi tree he'd visited on Dagobah after Yoda's death. He had to plant the seeds. He'd - er - promised the tree as much. It was a decision that had made quite a lot of sense at the time, and but now the immensity of the task rolled over him, so overwhelming he didn't know where to begin.
He didn't know anything about seeds, really. Or where he should plant them. Or how to take care of the trees, assuming they survived.
Well, he hadn't known anything about becoming a Jedi, either - and things had worked out. He would trust the Force to show him the way now.
And though the Alliance had won a huge victory with the destruction of the Death Star and the demise of the Emperor, he had no illusions that the remains of the Empire would surrender quietly. It wouldn't be safe to plant anything until peace and freedom had been restored to the galaxy at last.
The boy has no patience, Yoda had said when they'd first met.
He will learn patience, Ben Kenobi's disembodied voice had counseled.
Well. Ben was right. Luke had learned patience after all, or at least a little bit.
When the war was over--truly over-- he would plant the seeds.
Until then, there was a hell of a lot of mopping up to do.

Ok so I downloaded the new Linkin Park album and the song "Heavy" had me thinking about Dama & Nevada! Whatdaya think? Give it a listen 😁 I tend to associate songs with stories I read ... and I'm so happy things are looking up for them right now 💞
Part 2 to my last ask lol, but seriously how freakin awesome is Barba this season! He's such a badass in the courtroom! Serving justice for both victims.... Love our ADA 💞y'all wrote him so wonderfully in that whole case. Oh and I wanted to ask in like a bonus after the finale would we get to see how Nevada and Chelsea came be be friends? And what she looks like? I'm curious 😁
I just listened to it, and yes!! I love it, and it so perfectly describes Dama and Nevada right now!! I love that they’re moving in a positive direction and seem to be growing stronger as a couple. Especially the line, “If I just let go, I’d be set free. Why is everything so heavy?”
Also, yes tot he Barbs. We really thought it was high time he got back to being the ADA we all know and love, and for him to be able to do that he just had to let go of Emmy and of all the toxic things in his life (not that the people were toxic, but the reasons he was doing what he was doing was what was toxic)
As far as the bonus scene of Nevada and Chelsea meeting, we hadn’t planned on it, but I would so bed own for this! We do have plans to include her in the cast list, so you’ll definitely get to see what she looks like :) @missjennifercole what do you think? Deleted scene? Also, seriously, listen to that song, it’s amazing!!

What I’m Writing
aka What I Should Be Writing or What I Wish I Was Writing
the lovely @polaroidgirlfriend tagged me and because I’ve had writer’s block for what feels like an eternity, I went through my google docs/WIPs to find that I have so many things that I still WANT to write and decided to post a list for this meme. all of these things are partly written or at least outlined. so hey, if you see anything on this list you’d like me to write, feel free to come and yell at me to write it. be my cheerleader, hold my hand, or whatever (:
TL;DR
MCU/Avengers
ESOTSM AU: Pretty much fic based on the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Bucky erases Steve from his memories after a break-up and upon finding out, Steve decides to do the same and erase Bucky from his memories. BUT THEN, afterwards, they meet again and fall in love AGAIN and things are super SAD and tragic but also nice and sweet and basically this is gonna break your heart but hopefully also gonna put it back together.
Epic Slow Burn Rock Band AU Of My Dreams: so this is tour fic revolving around Bucky and him dealing with the loss of his arm & also falling in love~ with Steve. Gosh, I suck at summarising stories. Bucky is the lead singer of rock band SHIELD (Clint on guitar, Natasha on drums, Thor on bass; Wanda additional guitarist for the tour) who are going on a huge tour for the first time since he lost his arm in an accident. Their support act is Steve Rogers, former pop sensation, now a singer/songwriter. There’s also other people like Sam Wilson who is their tour manager and BASICALLY this is about rock star Bucky Struggling and Steve helping him Recover and shit. It’s about LOVE. It’s about MUSIC. Writing songs together. Performing songs together. Lap dances in hotel rooms. JUST. If this wasn’t clear already, it’s Steve/Bucky, but also features Clint/Natasha/Wanda because why not.
1D
MFEO AU. Originally inspired by an ad that said “What if seeing each other again would change everything?” So, basically, this story starts with (teacher) Niall - who’s currently (still) in a relationship with (DJ/record store owner) Nick - accidentally and unexpectedly running into (famous actor) (ex boyfriend) Harry after they haven’t seen each other in YEARS. It is about how this one encounter turns Niall’s whole life upside down. There’s just lots of feelings and working through them, it’s a story about relationships ending and new beginnings, about people changing and uh, of course about TRU LUV. Adele-Hello.mp3 or whatever. My summary doesn’t even do it justice. I’ll be over here cryin’ about how these two people were made for each other.
A sequel to Handwritten, a Narry Uni AU that I wrote like 3 years ago. This ‘verse is still on my mind a lot and I can’t seem to let it go. I’ve got bits and pieces written, some sort of deleted/bonus scenes from Niall’s POV set in the timeline of the original story; I’ve got two sequels planned out (the one that is set like a year after is p much mapped out already, and one that is set a few more years in the future is like, roughly planned out). I said once the fic reaches like 400 kudos I’ll make myself finish a sequel, and it’s reached 400+ now so I…. should….. really…. be …. writing and posting this. *flees*
Ace!Niall NYC verse: uni au; basically a fic about Niall learning about/dealing with his asexuality and becoming friends with the other guys, falling in love, idk, just a self discovery fic really??? Writing this was meant to be cathartic, so I’m not sure if I’ll ever publish it even if I end up writing it, but. I’d like to.
Recording Studio AU of my heart with slow burn Niall and cg!Harry. The most self-indulgent thing ever: I cast the guys of McFly in this to work in a recording studio with Niall (who’s a sound engineer) and made cg!Harry, cg!Louis and cg!Zayn be in a rock band a la HAIM; there’s just lots of cute stuff, PINING, sharing beds, UST, just all of my favourite things and tropes packed into one epic slow build friends to lovers story. There’s also members of the LIC in this. This is so old but I love it a lot, I dedicated a whole inspo blog to it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Teen Wolf
Stiles/Derek domestic fluffy future fic! This story is about preschool teacher Stiles moving back to Beacon Hills (before he turns 30), becoming Derek’s neighbour, about adjusting to his life back in Beacon Hills. About realising what he wants in life (which is settling down). About him and Derek becoming friends, doing lots of cute domestic things together so they end up accidentally~ dating. There’s also background Scott/Isaac just because!!!!
Bastille
Uni AU: A thing that was inspired by a dumb pic of Kyle and Charlie at a pub or whatever, that was originally gonna be Dan/Kyle but then slowly turned into Dan having an unrequited crush on Kyle, and falling in love w Charlie along the way. Don’t ask me how this happened, I DON’T KNOW. This is basically about Dan realising he likes BOYS and then realising he’s not in love with Kyle but with Charlie and IDK lots of cute things and going from friends with benefits to lovers. Don’t judge me, I’m a sucker for slow build uni aus. ok.
Tour fic: just a good old SECRETLY DATING while being on tour fic. Secretly dating! Sneaking around! Tour fic! (I miss tour fic. Bandom and 1D was so good to me, why does 90% of Bastille fandom hate fic, lol.)
HELP ME OVERCOME WRITER’S BLOCK
Anyway that’s it. NO PRESSURE but I tag @sleepymouses @bleep0bleep @nialljames @foxesmouth @fauvistfly @moonwasours @moondoggiestyle (in case you wanna do it). (also. if you’re a writer and wanna do this and I didn’t tag you, consider yourself tagged as well)

Loki for the character ask thing?
(pls note I’m only counting the MCU!Loki, otherwise we’d spend an eternity here)
Why I like them
Loki is such a complex character, so what is there not to like? Lol but in all seriously, I love that Loki can be so in touch with his feelings sometimes (like we see so much in Dark World), even if his feelings make him do awful things. For someone who’s supposed to have everything under control at all times, Loki breaks down often (granted, usually on his own, or with only one person he considers dear near him, never in public). In all honesty, I love so many things about him.
Why I don’t
There’s not an ounce in my body that doesn’t love Loki. He surely is a flawed character, but I can’t dislike him. (although I hate what people try to do with him, but well, they fail so it’s okay)
Favorite episode (scene if movie)
The scene in Dark World when he hears about Frigga’s death and freaks out. (bonus scene: the deleted scene from thor where he says he loves Thor and then asks for a kiss, just saying)
Favorite season/movie
I often prefer the darker things for my characters, the ones they suffer the most (because same), so I have to go with Dark World. Not much because of the plot or things happening to them, but because we can see much more of Loki, and get to know him in a more in depth light.
Favorite line
“Oh, mighty Thanos, I, Loki, Prince of Asgard, Odinson, the Rightful King of Jotunheim, God of Mischief, do hereby pledge to you my undying fidelity.” FUCK WE’VE JUST COME SO FAR
Favorite outfit
The one from the battle scene in Ragnarok. I loved that his helmet was open tbh
OTP
Thorki!!!!
Brotp
I feel like Loki and Tony would be great bffs because they are legit the same lol
Head Canon
MCU!Loki is also gender fluid and pansexual. Even though it hadn’t been mentioned, I can’t see Loki in another way. It's canon in the comics, not to mention that it’s canon in the mythology, so there’s no reason why he can’t be gender fluid and pansexual in the movies as well (I mean, besides the prejudiced people who can’t handle these topics, which should just go fuck themselves tbh)
Unpopular opinion
This doesn’t have much to do with Loki, BUT I hated Thor: Ragnarok. I liked that the other movies were a bit darker and Thor: Ragnarok seemed like a big joke. I mean, Loki’s scenes were good, because everything Loki does is amazing, but the movie was just... very disappointing. (don’t get me wrong, I love Taika Waititi, but the movie just ugh it was the opposite of what I was expecting)
A wish
Okay so technically there’ll be the Disney thingy for Loki and I’m really skittish about it. So I hope it makes him justice. I’m really terrified they’ll destroy him as a character.
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen
WELL I DIDN’T WANT HIM TO DIE again BUT HERE WE ARE
5 words to best describe them
Fluid, Sensitive, Ruthless, Selfish, Powerful
My nickname for them
I call him Loki (low-key), which in my country can be considered ‘wrong’, because it’s not spoken like that in Portuguese, so does it count? Otherwise, no, I don’t have a nickname for him.
give me a character!!

Franzie's Mini Guide to Her Favorite Actor's Filmography
I have a huge crush on Jeremy Irons. This is no secret to anyone who knows me. Let's do this.
Please note this is limited to what I've seen.
● AND NOW LADIES AND GENTLEMEN - I found out about this movie via a book about mtf crossdressing in movies. That scene certainly didn't disappoint, but unfortunately the rest of this movie is a slog. It's a bad thing when you want the "nagging girlfriend" character to win in the love triangle because the woman you should be rooting for is so boring.
● ASSASSIN'S CREED - "How bad could this be?" I asked myself in the theater before the movie began. It's not terrible, but it's incredibly goofy. I have so many questions, mostly about the gigantic crane thing our hero uses in his time travel mind adventures. But Jeremy was hot and that's all I needed.
● BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE - I actually like this movie, especially the extended edition. This has caused people to give me the side-eye, to which I say "Sorry not sorry that my tastes differ from yours". I have not yet seen Justice League, but it's in my Netflix queue. But did it deliver on what I came for? Well, the extended edition did, certainly.
● BEAUTIFUL CREATURES - I'm not one for YA book adaptations, but I really enjoyed this. I liked all the characters, the sets and costumes are fantastic. Unfortunately, this movie flopped in theaters, so the remaining books won't be adapted anytime soon. I did actually read the book it's based on and it turned out to be pretty good as well.
● A CHORUS OF DISAPPROVAL - This movie gets my disapproval, that's for sure. Everyone but Anthony Hopkins is a jerk.
● DAMAGE - This is legit one of my favorite movies. It's a story about how cheating ruined a man's life and it's amazing. The book goes a bit further than the movie does (the scene in the Paris hotel room is VERY different), so I can understand why some things got changed. But my thirsty fangirl self loves this despite the melodramatics.
● DEAD RINGERS - Easily one of my favorites. I don't think I have to describe the plot much because it's so well known, but it's about twin gynecologists falling to drug addiction and paranoia. Bryan Fuller used some imagery from this in S2 of Hannibal. I own the Criteron DVD and the Shout Factory blu-ray as the special features on both are completely different.
● DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE - My favorite of the Die Hard movies, but not just for the obvious reason. I love Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson's scenes together and I love how the "terrorist" plot unfolds. Just a great movie all around.
● DUNGEONS & DRAGONS - Jeremy was in this because he had a castle to pay for. But he looks like he's having a good time hamming it up. This movie is completely ridiculous. Play it at your next D&D session!
● ERAGON - A movie so boring I forced myself to not turn it off after Jeremy's character died. Spoiler alert. I have never read the books.
● THE FOURTH ANGEL - This movie is SO BAD. But listen, when I learned there was a movie where Jeremy hunts down terrorists in a leather jacket while riding a motorcycle to get revenge for the plane hijacking that killed (some of) his family, I was sold. But yes this movie is ridiculously bad so that's why I keep my DVD.
● THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT'S WOMAN - I'm not much of a historical drama person, but I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Because the book breaks the fourth wall regularly, the movie does a "movie within a movie" format, which works very well. I also enjoy seeing Meryl Streep in movies before she got the reputation of being Instant Oscar-Bait.
● THE HOUSE OF THE SPIRITS - This movie is an adaptation of a much longer book, so there are a lot of plot details missing. You can also say it's problematic to have mostly white actors in a story about Chileans. That does not stop this movie from being completely bonkers. Meryl Streep has psychic powers. Jeremy is a total asshole cheater until he mends his ways. There's creepy pedo half-brothers. There's a car getting exploded by a train and it's never mentioned by anyone. I need to read the book.
● THE LION KING - Do I need to say anything about this? I have a bunch of Scar merch, if that tells you anything.
● LOLITA - I have some bad news for Adrian Lyne: Lolita is not a love story, my dude. That being said, despite this movie being a bad Lolita adaptation, I enjoy it anyway. I recommend getting the DVD to see the sheer amount of deleted scenes alone. The acting is genuinely good from everyone. Nobody gets over Frank Langella as Quilty. Bonus: Jeremy reads the audiobook of Lolita. Why no I have not listened to it multiple times already, I'm not WEIRD. 😞
● M. BUTTERFLY - You can thank David Cronenberg for ruining my life. Apparently, this adaptation of the play was not well-received, but I still love it.
● NIGHT TRAIN TO LISBON - No, I have not read the book of this, either. But Jeremy is very cute and that's all that matters. There is a scene I can't watch that involves cutting a piece of chicken out of a woman's throat.
● RACE - A pretty good biopic about Jesse Owens. It doesn't sugarcoat the discrimination he faced, nor his own flaws. The only issue I had was that it did try and make Leni Refensthal sympathetic (which...no, you can't).
● RED SPARROW - This was way different than I thought it was going to be and I loved it. It's a very subtle spy-revenge movie with rapists getting beat up. Fantastic.

Slacker
Tumblr media
Several movies in my backlog box belong to the ‘Criterion Edition’ line. For those unfamiliar it is a company that re-releases critically acclaimed films, mostly of the prestige and arthouse variety from all eras of film around the world. They get the creator’s and/or studio’s blessing and faithfully restore their video and audio as close as possible to modern standards and pack it with extras and have new case artwork in addition to bundling it with a art/production essay booklet. The only downside is these premium releases are almost double then regular physical media releases, but twice a year Criterion runs a 50% off their entire catalog sale which results in their inventory reaching tolerable pricing and why I have several Criterions in my backlog. I only covered one before with 12 Angry Men, and today I am knocking out another one with director Richard Linklater’s first major release in 1991’s Slacker (trailer). I think the best singular word to begin to break down Slacker is ‘experimental.’ There was nothing else like it before where the movie focuses on a single character for a small part of their day for usually a handful of minutes until they interact with another person and shortly thereafter the film transitions to that next character for the next few minutes as they go about their day with as minimal camera and scene cuts as possible. There are some sporadically inserted, but for the most part Linklater thrived to make this come off as one nonstop continuous cut almost similar to Birdman a few years ago.
Tumblr media
Sometimes Slacker catches these characters in a major part of their day such as witnessing a hit-and-run or coming home in the midst of a robbery, to truly bizarre moments like encountering the strangest coffee house ever or sometimes as inconsequential as discussing recommendations at the bookstore. I love how it captures these brief ‘snapshots’ of people going about their day, especially now with a 2019 eye on a 1989/1990 setting before the Internet officially debuted and cell phone use was a blip to where it is today. I was among the last gen to come of age with remembering phone numbers, going over to a friend’s unannounced to see what was up, fanny packs, payphones and how the newspaper and local news were a major part of your day and seeing those elements in play in a handful of interactions in Slacker was eye-opening to a way of life I long forgot, for better or worse. Slacker was made on a $23,000 budget and one of the concessions with that budget and having an ensemble cast is that this cast consists largely of people who have had little to no acting experience. Watching some of the behind-the-scenes interviews on how Linklater accomplished wrangling in this large cast was by having his people in charge of casting go out in restaurants, bars and other establishments and observe individuals and ask the personalities that caught their eye if they would be interested in being in a movie. I can only imagine how bold of a risk this was because there are easily several characters throughout the film that leave a lot to be desired out of their performances, but in a way that is part of the gritty DIY charm of Slacker.
Tumblr media
Speaking of extras, with this being a Criterion Edition it is jam-packed with them. There are three commentary tracks with Linklater doing one solo, a second one with several crew members and a third one consisting of interviews pasted together from a fair amount of the cast members to their appropriate scenes. I bounced between all three on my re-watch of the film and found Linklater’s to be naturally more insightful with a lot of production facts and a lot of personal tales on how he was going for broke on this project. The other two are interesting too, but the crew’s track has a fair amount of lulls between their crazy behind-the-scenes tales and some of the cast has entertaining bits, but with so many clips pasted together it naturally goes all over the place. There are an hour and a half of behind-the-scenes interviews and other extra features and if you found yourself wrapped up as much as I did in the nature of Slacker then nearly all of them are must-see! The following are the top highlights if you only have time for a few. The cast auditions popped me to how close they reflected their on-screen characters, there is nearly a half-hour of extended and deleted scenes worth diving into and about 20 minutes of clips and interviews from a 10th anniversary reception and panel worth checking out to see what this film has done for Linklater and his cast of mostly unknowns. There are two essays included, one is an on-disc feature where Linklater dissects ‘Slacker-culture’ and the aforementioned physical booklet is 32-pages of concept art and a couple of essays elaborating on its shoestring budget and how it took years of hustling to get noticed in the festival circuit before its success and cult hit status.
Tumblr media
Finally there are two other completely unique Linklater projects included as extras. One is a seven minute docu-short on Linklater’s experience at a spinoff Woodstock festival called Woodshock that is a very nice homage to Heavy Metal Parking Lot. The other bonus is Linklater’s first feature film in 1988’s It’s Impossible to Learn to Plow by Reading Books. Linklater self-funded this film for $3000 and shot it entirely in Super 8 with solely himself doing the bulk of the acting as he travels across the country and the film taking in Linklater’s character doing a lot of mundane, everyday tasks. Another interesting experimental piece, but lacks the intrigue and spontaneity that Slacker brings to the table. This one also has a Linklater commentary track that I watched it with and I highly recommend you do so to help with the many non-dialogue scenes in Plow. Linklater is one of my favorite directors, and I say that with only seeing about half of his films. I have a few other Criterion Editions of his other films that I have not seen yet and hope to get to them sooner than later. If you are familiar with some of his other movies like Boyhood then you should know his films go against the grain of what usually hits theaters and not to go into his films with the standard three act expectation. I highly recommend Slacker with the asterisk that it is the ideal movie to sit down with the getting ready to relax with it on in the background before you gradually get reeled in to see which way this unpredictable ball of string unravels next.

X-Men Apocalypse
We are approaching the release date for the final FOX X-Men film hitting theaters when Dark Phoenix arrives next week. Thus it seemed like a perfect time to revisit FOX’s previous ensemble X-Men film, 2016’s Apocalypse (trailer). Minus a couple exceptions, I have largely enjoyed most of the X-Men movies so far, even if I have barely an idea of what is or is no longer canon anymore and the many contradictions that have surfaced with each proceeding film. The filmmakers stated in the bonus feature interviews here they are essentially making up the rules as they go along ever since they introduced time travel. Regardless, each X-film in and of itself I have mostly enjoyed on its own merits, and that continues with Apocalypse. Apocalypse has greatly benefited with a second viewing a few years later. I recall nitpicking it in the theaters for its contradictions and other little details that did not match up with previous films and trying to come to terms with the unexpected costume and character design of Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) himself as it compared to the Apocalypse costume I grew up with in the comics and early 90s animated series. Now that I got those initial puzzled impressions out of my system I took in Apocalypse on its own and those nitpicks were not as much of a distraction on second viewing.
Apocalypse transpires 10 years after the events of Days of Future Past in 1983. I liked how they set up the origin for Apocalypse in the prologue and establish how he is this god-like force to be reckoned with all these years later. Watching him grow in power as he recruited Angel (Ben Hardy), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) as his ‘four horsemen’ proved him to a formidable force. There is a lot of setup Apocalypse’s first half of its near two and a half hour runtime. It did not feel that long however because with its ensemble cast there were so many individual stories to tell to bring everyone together that Apocalypse breezed by. Nearly all the main players from the previous two core X-Men films return like Professor Xavier (James McAvoy), Mystique (Jennifer Laurence) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult). Periphery players from before like Quicksilver (Evan Peters) and Havok (Lucas Till) also have bigger roles in this film. Young versions of Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Nightcrawler (Kurt Wagner), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and yes….even Jubilee (Lana Condor) make their debut in this past era of X-films. There are a few surprises I do not want to ruin, but rest assured there are plenty of interesting interactions among the huge cast knowing how these characters will interact in movies set after this. Fassbender and McAvoy easily have the best chemistry among the whole cast and the two steal the show with their handful of one-on-one emotional scenes.
Like the rest of the X-films, Apocalypse does not disappoint when it comes to special effects. There are countless CG showcases from the Apocalypse origin story prologue, to another Quicksilver slow-motion sizzle reel, a couple of impressive destruction sequences where Apocalypse unleashes his fury and the requisite Cerebro scene gone terribly wrong. These CG sequences go hand-in-hand with most of the action scenes, and they were smartly paced in with all the setup and build to the climatic final showdown which is highlighted with Apocalypse and Xavier engaging in a telepathic duel for the ages. How those CG scenes were produced is tackled among the boatload of extra features. X-Men Unearthed is the standout extra. It is a five-part feature running a little over an hour combined and tackles how the cast and crew is handling the convoluted canon of the X-films, shows Patrick Stewart give his blessing and witness MacAvoy shave his head, breaks down the cast and goes into the nuts and bolts on how those awesome CG sequences came to be. Definitely worth a watch! There is nearly a half hour of deleted scenes with optional introductions from director Bryan Singer that includes a lot of material that seemed tragic to get cut like a feel-good 80s mall music montage set to Safety Dance that got me nostalgic for my teenage Mallrats years, and Fassbender nailing it with a emotional family scene that Singer stated was one of his all-time heartbreaking cuts to make in filmmaking. There is a killer eight minute gag reel that I would place in the top tier of superhero film gag reels, which is good company to be among.
Finally the commentary track with Singer and writer/producer Simon Kinberg is among one of my favorite commentaries I have heard in the five and a half years since I started this site. Singer is mostly nonstop with revealing facts and inspirations for the film like going into a engrossing story on the aforementioned Fassbender deleted scene, pointing out that Jubilee is in the film in one of her few lines or else I would have completely missed her, taking potshots at Marvel and FOX in the opening credits, a touching anecdote on filming the Stan Lee cameo and being grateful to Munn and Peters for knowing their Mortal Kombat references that resulted in saving a certain moment of the film. Those are just a few of the many highlights I got from the commentary so if you have time this is one of the good ones to check out. Also worth pointing out is FOX subtitled the commentary, THANK YOU! As I alluded to earlier, I came out of X-Men: Apocalypse with a far better experience on my second viewing. I only marginally enjoyed it initially, but letting some time and perspective sink in helped immensely. I am now surprisingly stoked to see Dark Phoenix when it hits next week. I highly recommend revisiting Apocalypse for a refresher on the many little plot points I would have forgotten. I no doubt agree the canon across the nearly 20 years of FOX X-films is a head-scratcher and a half to keep track of and who knows maybe their new overlords at Disney will find a way to smoothly integrate them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, I would be lying if there was not a part of me that would like to see Disney keep the X-films in their own separate canon that FOX has established, quirks and all. Time will tell.
