1) What are your favorite symbolisms in Skam/the remakes (eg. Isak’s locker)? Pretty much everything in s3 of the og, like the whole season was so full of like intertwining symbolism that it’s hard to just pick one out of that.

I also really liked the role food has played in druck s3 and how it kind of symbolized connection to other people. also shout out to david’s locker moment bc it was a nice nod to the og and also it kind of jumpstarted my whole interpretation of him as a character which turned out to not be too far off.

2) How did you discover Skam? just one day i saw a lot of it on tumblr and then put it on my mental “to watch one day” list but tbh it took quite a while until i finally got to it

3) What girl/boy squad would you choose to be part of? i’m gonna kind of cheat and just say the whole big druck united squad lol

4) One thing you would change about each version well that’s kind of difficult for me to answer bc i actually haven’t seen a lot of the remakes haa so i’m just gonna say some really superficial and uninformed stuff for most of them that’s just based on stuff i’ve seen on tumblr.

but first druck, which i can actually talk about lol: i’d definitely change how mia’s bisexuality was handled bc it was quite a mess and probably mostly just put in as damage control after they saw what kind of reaction the mia/hanna kiss got. and bc it was so handled so badly it kind of taints all those “kissy” moments between the girls that to me would usually be pretty inoccuous. bc to me, (straight) girls giving each other pecks on the mouth is actually really normal? and not like the performative way that’s for straight guys, but just girls giving each other little kisses as greeting or just because. like when i was in school, all the girls in my class (except me rip) greeted each other by kissing on the mouth. they would come into the class room and just give each girl that was already there a peck on the mouth one after the other. so those moments in druck (mostly on insta) when the girls give each other these pursed-lipped little kisses is on one hand very normal girl behaviour to me but bc of how mia’s bisexuality was handled, it does leave a bit of a bad tase in my mouth.

skam france: from what i’ve seen most people didn’t like s4 and thought it was bad so probably that.

skam italia: maybe a not-white, muslim actress to play sana...

skam austin: more shay. also while i usually like those moments of silence and just sitting with the character, that are very typically skam, i felt like they dragged on juuuust a tad too much in skam austin sometimes

skam nl: i don’t really know the context of that scene but that whole wedding dress situation? seems kind of bizarre and... bad?... to me? but maybe it’s better with actual context so who am i to judge lol

skam espana: probably the pansexuality discussion which i think felt a bit more dismissive towards pansexual people than in the other versions and after what the actors said on twitter it doesn’t seem like an accident =/

wtfock: idk tbh i don’t actually see much about it on tumblr and haven’t watched it myself...

5) If only one character from any remake could get an original season who would you choose and why? honestly this question is an attack lol but when it comes down to it... david. bc i love him and think he’s interesting but also just bc of the representation. so far he’s the only trans character in the whole skam extenced universe (afaik) and while we did see quite a bit abt him in matteo’s season, i think a season with him could still do a lot of good and maybe a season where relationship drama isn’t the focal point (bc him and matteo are SOLID) could be fun. but really, i would like so many characters to have a season.

6) What is your personal favorite version and what do you like least about it? if we exclude the og then it’s easy and it’s druck lol and what i like least about it... well, probably what i’ve already written above for the “what would i change” question. oh, also that after s2 all the episode are only 20 minutes long (thanks for nothing zdfneo, fu too)

7) What representation would you like to see in Skam (other than more wlw)? probably fat characters, especially a fat main. especially if the character being fat isn’t ignored like it doesn’t matter or doesn’t inform how they go through life and the world sees them but it also isn’t like the ONLY thing that defines the them and their story.

8) What country would you like to have a remake? oh, there are so many countries that could have very intersting skam remakes, especially if they’re not in (western) europe or north america. but i can’t really choose a specific one

9) What character can you relate the most to? And why? matteo, hands down lol. he IS me if i was a teenage boy. like, obviosuly The Depression is very relatable, but also the way he shows affection (by being a lil shit) or just some of his mannerisms, like the way he always slouches or his dumb little salute or how he can’t NOT make a stupid face when someone tries to take a picture of him. it’s all very me. watching s3 was just a constant stream of “*vine voice* hahaha i do that”

10) Do you have an unpopular opinion about any of the Skam ships? i never shipped eva/pchris? does that count?

11) Are you following the characters on social media? And do you have notifications turned on for any of them? i follow every druck character as well as shay’s finsta lol but i don’t habe post notifications bc tbh idek how exactly to turn them on lol. and yeah i’m sure i could easily find out but also i’m lazy.

1. if you could decide between having all the remakes or getting one (1) more season of the og, what would you choose? would it make a difference who the main of the new og season would be? if yes, what character(s) would you sacrifice all the remakes for? and for which character(s) would you NOT do that?

i was tagged by @isakvdhflorenzi, ty miss lorena <3 1. Is the social media presence of the characters important to how you view the quality of the remake/show?

hm well skam nl is my favorite and their social media game is trash LMAOOO so generally No but i do feel like remakes who DO have such a good presence kind of elevate the show and i think it’s pretty heartwarmin to see some remakes go sm farther than skam with social media and puttin out educational and IN CHARA resources like skames does this so well and i feel like in that way, the team is really really spreadin skam’s spirit via these resources (like joana’s billion bpd awareness ig accounts and lucas rubio’s yt channel)

2. Least favourite clip of the show? Why?

tbh there are definitely some duds but probably one of the clips with sana gettin herself into a hole in s4 just bc some were hard to watch cus cringey or yikes .... idk i cant think of others LMAO

3. Which character did you feel the most connected to and why?

ijeoiqjiwoij even tho even is my all time fave skam chara, i have to say isak for all of these reasons

4. Your least favourite part of every season?

season 1 - tbh even though i really enjoyed this season, it does take a while for it to build up like i rmr at first not being that interested until ep6 maybe ?? which is hard when you’re trying to get your friends to watch but they have to wait until ep6 before shit starts RLLY buildin up and gettin wild

season 2 - hm ig noora chasin after william ??

season 3 - bro NOTHINGGG call me a purist but its such a refined masterpiece like the pacing is good the characterization is so good ugh i deadass cant think of anythin

season 4 - i always felt a little ??? w noora being sana’s bff ig bc from s1-s3 it didn’t Feel like they were that close like even in noora’s pov, sana wasn’t really a part of it that much ?? like eva was more of noora’s bff ?? so i feel like it would have made more sense if maybe sana spoke more with chris or vilde bc sana and vilde eventually seemed to get closer esp with kosegruppa and chris has always been by sana’s side ?? idk that always confused me

5. What is your opinion on the cast’s participation on social media? Do you prefer it when the cast aren’t that involved like the Skam cast, or do you like a lot of content like the Fr cast do?

tbh i don’t care much abt the casts LMAOOO if anythin it kind of brings more harm as seen with the harassment axel and maxence get and also can bring more controversy like with irene (which honestly is p sad considerin how much i love skames bc now i feel super :/ watchin it like she shouldve just had private accts at this point)

6. Favourite song you found from Skam or the remakes?

OMFGGG love this question .... def doorman by slowthai and mura masa bc its one of my fave songs now and i got it from skam nl <3 ugh taste

7. If you could decide which characters from Skam got a season, who would you choose?

OOOHHH ugh torn bc i like isak’s pov but also i want even’s so might have to forfeit isak season for even season ....... hm so probs vilde, sana, even, noora (maybe not w william tho) and honestly maybe jonas too ??

8. Are there any moments that you liked in the show that everyone else seems to hate?

IJXDWQOIJJ yes .... remakes-wise, people hate skam nl s2’s last half but i enjoyed it for the most part ... i think the pacing was off for the last ep but personally, clip 50 made up for it and is p god tier imo ..... and also don’t think the first half of ep10 is enough to discredit the entire season bc i rlly loved seeing liv’s pov and have sm fave moments from the season

but skam wise, omg might get a lil controversial w this one IM SORRY !!! im bein honest and its Just my opinion ok

personally s2 got me more invested than s1 and i don’t think its a super bad season like i didnt really say many problems wrong with it until i got on tumblr wiejioqjoiqjq i was sort of interested in the questions that the noora/william dynamic brought up which is, as expressed in william’s war speech to noora, that nothing is ever black/white which i feel was a huge message and feeds into the ‘you never know what ppl are going through’ theme of the season ... like i like the idea of someone like noora, who can have a black/white mentality (as seen in the first clip of s2 when she tells vilde that they can’t have the tannin company as their sponsor bc they objectify women or smth but misses the context and what it could mean for the bus monetarily bc shes caught up in bein ‘woke’) having to break out of that and see more than one side ... and i think remakes like skam austin expanded on this idea well like when zoya was like ‘must be so nice being right all the time’ which i Do feel like is an important for youth to know today .... bc i think its so easy to get caught up in the idea of being so objectively right and morally superior that people lose sight of the more nuanced characteristics to life ... (omg long ramble BUT)

also LMAOOOOO this one might be more controversial as it pertains to bench scene s4 ok oops again doNT GOTTA AGREE !! ........ but i feel like the scene had a lot of good intentions ... i was def kind of cringing a bit tho bc i understand the subject’s sensitivity and how these topics are hard to talk about but i genuinely feel like they both made Some points and should listen to each other .... like as Hard and as maybe ‘unwoke’ it is to admit, unfortunately you sort of do have to answer the tough questions bc that way we learn from each other .... and i perfectly understand why some ppl wouldn’t want to do this and i certainly am tired abt havin to answer shit abt my sexuality or stupid male questions abt women but if u dont answer them, people do go lookin for answers still and the internet is such a shitty place that its pretty easy (esp with youtube’s algorithm) to lead you to ignorant ppl and perhaps radicalization .... questions help us to better understand our community and sometimes they can have good intentions too but we have to ask and answer them or else people will make up answers (which ive literally seen and its honestly worse to see fake as shit and UNINFORMED answers bc ppl did not want to ask you or ppl of ur identity, esp when they’re already startin from a place of hate .... but i rather have ppl ask me patronizing questions than have them spread false info bc that can do much more harm in the long run) however i DO think that isak should also consider sana’s side and i sort of wish we saw him conceding more bc they both have smth to learn from one another, like sana shouldn’t just be learnin from isak, isak needs to learn from sana too

9. What did you learn from the show?

omg honestly too much to write here tbh ..... but if it says anythin im (very slowly) in the works of a three part skam essay about basically how skam teaches us to be better humans and how to better treat the people we care about diowjqioj essentially the three biggest themes of the show: you never know what someone is going through so always be kind, always communicate with your friends, and no person is ever alone and i feel like these are definitely rlly good messages to live by (also livet er nå BITCH !!!)

10. What is your favourite headcanon about your favourite characters?

omg tbh i could not tell u at all how the skam charas are doing except i hope even is okay thats all im thinkin of ok .... OIWXIOJX omg remakes wise tho ..... honestly im so bad at this girl IDK !!!!! LMAO i have to really think i have a bit of vdh and dutch even but thats bc we know like Zero abt them so its easier oijwiojqio idk liv and noah bein cute as shit ..... OH WAIT personally i feel like janna got a bunch of pansexual energy so my BIGGG hc is that she’s pan also bc she’s one of my all time fave charas and my fkn url so itd be dope if she was pan ok boom

11. What is your opinion on fanfiction in the fandom?

tbh i don’t read skam fanfiction but i don’t mind reading some from the remakes (tho still its rare) ... eiojeioqw i just don’t trust anyone but julie to write skam charas bc i think that’s how precious the show is to me LMAO like idk everything ive seen of skam fanfiction and ficlets and one shots, i could never get into bc the tone is just so out of character or there will be lines that just take me out of the fic bc im like this !!!! is not !!! how the chara acts !!!! so yeah idk not rlly a fan bc of my purist ass but i dont mind others reading it

This sounds fun, here we go!

Questions answered:

1. Which country/countries would you like to see a remake from? Well tbh I’m not sure the world needs another skam remake hahaha. BUT if the empire keeps growing let’s grow it out of Europe, yeah? Maybe somewhere in Asia? South America? Mexico?

2. Which character’s room/home do you like best? Why? I love love love Niccolò’s home. It’s just dripping with art and plants and books and old furniture. Also that kitchen?? Oh boy. 10/10 would cook in there. Also Mia’s (I guess now Matteo’s) room is so.... big?? And those ceilings are so high?? AND THAT DOOR IS SO HUGE. It’s like a door to a castle not a door to a teenager’s room in an apartment disfhsjldhfjals.

3. Is there a character that you see yourself in the most? Who? Saw a lot of myself in Isak oooooo boy that internalized homophobia babeeeyyy. Can see myself in Sana, too: that snark hahahaha. Also Eva. We’ve had some similar experiences.

4. And which character is the furthest from yourself? Maybe Jonas? Hard to explain why but I just don’t think him and I would vibe. A little too edgy-woke-straight-bruh for me, who is fully aware she is a level-10 idiot.

5. Which song/artist would you like to hear on Skam/remakes? Why there was no Troye Sivan in skamit s2 I’ll never know. It would have been so perfect. (we’ve been making shades of purple out of red and blueeee.) But I’m also a huge slut for flor, whose music I think would go well in just about anything.

6. Which of the Skam cities would you like to live in or visit? heheheheh Rome. Surprised?

7. Your favorite scene ever? Had to think of this one for a long while but my heart says Due Ore. Just pure magic. The whole Bracciano weekend, really.

8. Is there a scene that makes you cringe while watching? I always have a hard time watching the Eskild character give the pride speech to the Isak character. It’s not easy, and they’re both coming from such different places.

9. Which remake character deserves their own season? I’d really love another boy squad season in skamit simply because that squad is tops. Gio, Elia, Luca — I don’t care. Give them back to me. I’d prefer the Chris character to have a season over the Vilde character in any remake (funny though because if we are talking og I’d rather have a Vilde season). But yeah.

10. Which character has the best hair? Eva Mohn s1!! A beautiful mermaid. Eleonora also has gorgeous hair. And so does Isa. Cris does her hair differently every day so we cannot deny she is powerful. And I can’t forget Fili’s pink ‘do. And Nico is the king of curls. Obviously I can’t pick lol.

11. Do you love me? :-D Do you watch all the trans media content from the remakes you watch? And which remake creates the best extra content, in your opinion? Yes! 💛 I follow all of the text and social for both skamit and skam nl! I do see druck’s stuff too but in my honest opinion, they have too much for me to not feel overwhelmed catching up with so I just don’t religiously bother. However, if I was a super druck fan I would eat up every bit of their extra content, so I do think they embraced it fully and are doing the best job with it.

I’m going to be extremely lazy and not come up with any questions and not tag anyone because I think 1) most people have done this and 2) I’m so late answering this I feel bad lmao.

I know this post is very late, but at the end of each year I like to reflect on some of the great music that was released in the past 12 months. Listening to music almost constantly means that there is almost always a new release for me to listen to. The following are my favourite releases of 2018. I’ve broken down my list into studio albums, live albums, and singles/EPs. If you want more of my thoughts regarding a particular album, let me know!

Studio Albums

Nation of Two - Vance Joy

Release Date: February 23, 2018

Favourite Tracks: I’m With You, Crashing Into You, Where We Start

I love this album for so many reasons. It has a very laid back but heartfelt attitude, which makes it perfect for easy listening. I enjoy putting this album on as background music while I study. Many of the songs on the album are also associated with fond memories. Overall, I think this album is amazing (so is Joy himself).

Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino - Arctic Monkeys

Release Date: May 11, 2018

Favourite Tracks: One Point Perspective, Four Out Of Five, The Ultracheese

I was so excited when AM announced the release of TBH&C. I’ve been a fan for years, but came into contact with the band during their 6 year ‘hiatus’. It was fun to be around for all the promo stuff. While the album is a different style than previous records, the band’s musical ability shines on all tracks.

Anthem of the Peaceful Army - Greta Van Fleet

Release Date: October 19, 2018

Favourite Tracks: Mountain Of The Sun, Watching Over, Lover, Leaver (Taker, Believer)

GVF seem to be a controversial topic among rock fans, but I think they’re great. Their debut showcases their musical strength, and singer Josh Kiszka’s vocals are other-worldly. I like that they’re trying to bring back many elements of classic rock’n’roll.

Golden Hour - Kasey Musgraves

Release Date: March 30, 2018

Favourite Tracks: Oh, What A World, Wonder Woman, Golden Hour

This record is possibly my favourite release of 2018. Everything about it is dreamy, from the lyrics to production. Country isn't a genre I normally listen to, but I can’ t stop listening to this album.

A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships - The 1975

Release Date: November 30, 2018

Favourite Tracks: I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes), Love If We Made It, I Like America & America Likes Me

The 1975 are a band I’ve been listening to since I was thirteen, and it’s been wonderful to listen to their music evolve. ABIIOR is a mix of so many styles but it works beautifully. Matty Healy is very honest in the lyrics, opening up to fans about personal struggle while still using glamorous metaphors.

Meet You There Tour Live - 5 Seconds of Summer

Release Date: December 28, 2018

Favourite Tracks: More (Live), Talk Fast (Live), The Only Reason (Live)

I had to narrow my studio albums list down from 10 to 5, and the band’s Youngblood album narrowly missed the cut. However, they are included on the list for live albums. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing 5sos live twice, and it’s such a treat. I’m so happy they released a live album for the tour because I wasn’t able to attend, and this is by far my favourite album of theirs. They truly have grown into their musical talents, this live set shows that, and I recommend listening to them.

Guide Me Back Home (Live) - City and Colour

Release Date: October 5, 2018

Favourite Tracks: Hello, I’m In Delaware (Live in Saint John NB), Casey’s Song (Live in Banff AB), Lover Come Back (Live in Cornerbrook NL)

This album is both a compilation and a live album, but it is fantastic. City and Colour is a favourite of mine, and the collection of various shows from different Canadian cities a fresh take on the live album. I love that this album isn't one set but instead its a patchwork from a tour.

Little Prison City (Live at the Rogers K-Rock Centre) - The Glorious Sons

Release Date: July 25, 2018

Favourite Tracks: Sometimes On A Sunday, White Noise, Godless, Graceless and Young

The Glorious Sons are another Canadian act who put out a killer live album last year. This set was to a sold-out hometown crowd, making it that much more special. This band is on fire on this album, and the tribute to Gord Downie makes me teary eyed whenever I listen to it.

Singles/EPs

Without Me - Halsey

Release Date: October 4, 2018

I love Halsey and this song. I’ve been a fan since her EP Room 93, and it is so nice to see her continue to be raw and vulnerable even though her fame has skyrocketed. I can’ t wait to see what the new album sounds like, even though this might be a stand alone single.

New Light - John Mayer

Release Date: May 10, 2018

This is such a fun song! I can’t help but dance every time I hear this song. I can’t wait to hear new music from Mayer in the upcoming months.

Hang Ups - Scott Helman

Release Date: October 19, 2018

Even though this is technically a single, I’m counting it as an EP since it has more than two songs on it. These songs are all so catchy, and Helman is an intriguing vocalist and performer.
