Telling People, You're a couple. | The Group Chat Head canons | Pt.2
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Soft willy- you and nick have been dating for almost 2 months now. It's still crazy to you that you have this man, I mean come one look at him he is the definition of what everyone wants to be or be with. respectful, good height, nice built, the funniest person you have ever met, sweet and caring nick was all these things; which is why you were kinda scared of telling people you were a couple.
It's not like you were the most horrible person to look at but you in your mind you just thought you were okay nothing special just your average joe, but to nick you were the most beautiful person he'd ever met so of course he wanted to show everyone how special he is to have you in his life. Ever since you guys started dating he's been trying to get your approval to tell his fans but you still felt a little anxious on the idea so nicked eventually stopped asking to respect your decision.
One day you and nick were at a burger place eating lunch talking about his new album. “I don't know what I really want for the cover but I was kinda thinking if you would be able to pose for it?” Nick said looking hopeful at you “Nick I don't know, what if people connect the dots? I'm already on most of the tracks. It would be weird if I am also on the cover.”. He had to admit it would be kinda obvious but that was the whole point, he was happy that you were there to help accomplish the album and it would just be even more awesome if he got to see your face on the front of it all
“Here your refill sir” the waitress interrupted yours and nick conversation with a smile “oh thanks” “if you need anything, and i mean anything else just let me know” the waitress was basically eye fucking nick while saying her little beg of attention from nick. This mad you fucking livid like who  does she think she is talking to a random man like this and in front of his girlfriend out of all people.
“Thanks but i'm good” Nick let out an uncomfortable laugh while trying not to look at her anymore. You had to admit this girl was pretty but you were definitely better looking than her and that's all you needed in the moment to make a decision that went against your words. “You know what?I will pose for the cover "what do i have to hide” for the rest of the day. Nick couldn't stop thanking you and asking if you were sure about this but you already agreed and can't go back on it now.
Two weeks later you and Nick were drinking and  trying to think of all the different types of ways to take pictures. Since the songs on the album were based off of video games more specifically the games you could only play on the Nintendo DS you came up with  the idea of taking them on a DS. After three hours  later you and Nick finally captured the right picture to put on the album.
A couple of days passed, and Nick had posted the cover as a promotion which was the picture of you on a DS with a bold light blue font that read “Digital Dreams”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(This is sorta what I was going for. obvious if you don't like it you can totally imagine something else. Also credit to whoever these beautiful people are , I am jealous.)
In the caption of the post Nick had credited all the people who worked on the album including you but did it a completely different way. “I also want to thank my amazing partner for helping me throughout the process and even being on the album front and in the song @ ur username  i love you.”
You were surprised at the amount of people who were so supportive of you guys, of course there were some people who weren't, but you couldn't care. You were just happy that Nick was happy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Larry-  you were getting some food for you and Larry because he said he hasn't eaten all day. You and Larry have been dating for almost a month and it was the best thing that has happened to you in a while. Everyday with him was so much fun and the group was accepting of you for dating their friend.
You had gotten him and you something small because Nick and Tanner wanted you and Larry to go with them to dinner later but since Larry didn't eat you just grabbed something while you were out so he wouldn't be so hungry later. You had stepped into the house looking for Larry but he was in his room doing the podcast with the others.
You knocked on his door which he called out for you to open “dude you didn't have to do that thank you so much” “no problem it wasn't a bother to me”. You walked up to his desk to set the food down “hi everyone” you waved to all of the boys in the call which they waved back.
You stood there for a couple more minutes talking to them before you left to go be on your phone and leave them back with their work. Almost 45 minutes later Nick, Larry, and Tanner came out so you guys could go to dinner and have a fun night out.
You woke up the next morning in Larry's bed since you didn't want to drive home  last night. You see Larry at his desk looking at the podcast comments, you walk up to him and put a hand on his shoulder “so do they love me” you let out a small laugh. “They love you alright, it seems like they love you more than me” “well in that case switch me jobs, i would love to make dumb jokes all day “. you guys shared a laugh and a few more while looking at the comments. You were glad that the people who loved him were happy that he was with you.

Yeah, so... Just to clarify a specific TotK-related thing I haven't been super transparent about, or not enough perhaps? I'm not accusing Nintendo of being this machiavellian entity with TotK's storytelling. I mean, it's not impossible that some narrative limitations were put in place to avoid rocking the boat too hard (and some people actually are conservative and have conservative beliefs that they champion in the work they make/fund, it's A Thing too also that we tend to ignore or wave off because Surely nobody would actually think like that, buuut sometimes people do think like that also and it's really unfortunate but people do be conservative the same way people do be gay and try to inject gay stories in corporate settings that try to maximize profit and audience reach, conservatives also do that it turns out!!! not saying it's what happened because I have no idea but I'd hardly say it's impossible), but: I think the final result and what I criticize about it happened mostly because of carelessness and/or lack of power from the narrative department to make their case (I didn't even see a "Writer" or any mention of a narrative department in the credits btw, so I don't know what's up with that), and not from active malice.
I am a consultant, it's kind of my job to work with game companies to mesh gameplay and narrative together, and honestly an enormous portion of my job is to just... point out that some tropes and some "evident" writing shortcuts have Implications, or might end up saying the opposite of what the game wanted to say (not my favorite part of the job, let me tell you this). The game industry is really super fucking bad with themes and media literacy in general to be really honest with you, so sometimes this conversation goes over super well and lead to very interesting places where we get to define a clearer narrative purpose to collectively push, and sometimes people get incredibly defensive and reject all and any criticism before slamming the door on your fingers. It's a known thing in the industry (and everywhere tbh, like trying to get a guy who is "such a feminist" to admit that he's systematically torturing his female characters to give them character growth is uhhhh very veryvery fun as you can imagine)
So while I'm not blaming Nintendo for twirling their copyrighted Italian Mustache while secretely trying to inject imperialist propaganda in their good fun game, I do blame them for not spotting their biases during a 6 year development cycle and for not making their narrative ambitions a bigger priority given the subject matter, and I do side-eye them for addressing said biases in ways that reinforce the core issue, which is to create a fictional conflict that refuse to self-examine and will sabotage its emotional beats, its writing and its character arcs to preserve, at almost all costs, an extremely flat worldview that also happens to parallel really unfortunate real life propaganda stories in its imagery, themes and tone (and this is a criticism I only have for TotK, and not towards the entire Zelda canon which has historically been much, *much* better than this, even in entries that were pretty close plot-wise).

Tales From The Frontlog: Princess Peach Showtime.
7/10
Tumblr media
Princess Peach Showtime is good. It’s a game I’m willing to bet will be overlooked in the sea of Mario titles that exist on the Switch. It’ll probably be even a bit pricey down the line. The smaller weird titles like this tend to do that.
The best way to describe this game is that it’s a game about a being magical girl who uses various transformations to help people. When you look hard enough almost all the tropes are there and that alone makes this worth a pickup. Because games that are so blatantly like that are rare.
Tumblr media
But you really feel like it’s missing something that could’ve made it truly special. Which is weird because it does offer a very complete experience. I guess the best way to put it is it has trouble feeling like a “Mario” world title. And not because Mario is missing. Give me some credit.
I had a fantastic time playing, but we’re about the dissect what I think Princess Peach Showtime is missing.
Firstly I want to get aesthetic out of the way. Partially because there were a lot arguments online if Peach was “fem” enough. Which was peak stupidity. Peach is the fem of fems. It was insane this was even an argument. Also these outfits rocked.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But more importantly her game really lacked that Mario pop. Peach is fun, the premise is great, but you really could swap out Peach for a different magical girl and the premise/world still work. Peach just sells better. And she’s cute. Just look at her.
And I’m not complaining about the absence of most of the Mario cast. Characters as individuals should be able to shine on their own. Peach being the only main cast member used was a great decision. But you don’t feel like you’re in that high fantasy Mario environment. Even when away from the Mushroom Kingdom mario still has a very specific look to it.
Mario is high fantasy in its own way. I wanted to see that better reflected in Princess Peach Showtime. Every once in a while you do see glimpses, specifically in a Paper Mario way. Where the backgrounds are obviously set dressing, the horses have strings, some thorns were cardboard cut out, etc.
I think they needed to lean into this more. In a way I think the environment needed to be less immersive. I get that “there’s evil magic” but I think it should’ve looked a bit more hokey like real plays. Also put some people in the audience watching Peach rescue people. Have curtains close at the end of levels instead of it fading to white and then closing. You’re closing the curtain. You don’t need the fade to white. They’re small details that would’ve gone a long way to really increase the look. Maybe even bring some of the lighting in as part of the platforming where you’re running on the equipment and then reenter on a stage over.
It might be a useless complaint. I think this might’ve been more of a quick budget title for Nintendo at the end of a console life cycle, but don’t quote me on that.
There’s small aesthetic nitpicks I have too.
Tumblr media
Like what the fuck is this? And they do this with the green and blue dresses too where they add this clashing purple. I’m not going to sit here and tell you she looks hideous. She doesn’t, but let us have a dress that is completely blue! And they don’t match the shoe color to any of the dresses fyi. Those stay her traditional red. I know that’s a nitpick, like a really small one, but it still… bothers me. I understand why they put it there. I just don’t care. Purple and yellow? And so lazily executed? Hmpf.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And she obviously looks better when everything matches to some degree. Look at that! Why did they restrict the color palette on the dress options so much. I get that pink is her color but… come on. The costumes are allowed to break the mold but the dresses aren’t?
Also just missed opportunity for some simple easter egg dresses. Especially since some of those challenges are tedious as all get out. I did all that to earn this ⬇️ and not something genuinely cool. Fucking ick. It’s not bad looking but not worth doing a frustrating to control challenge for. I’m not even asking for new dress models. But let us put her in a Daisy dress or something. I don’t know.
Tumblr media
And the levels… are always fun on a first play through. But if you’re playing without a guide as a completionist you’ll need to run through them more than once because it is easy to miss stuff. And it can be more time consuming than it’s worth. And when you’re on a fourth attempt that shit gets old quick.
Don’t get it twisted though: this game is short, sweet, and regularly mixes up the gameplay to keep gamer’s on their toes. There are no costumes or game mechanics that overstay their welcome. Whenever I walked into a new stage I was uncertain what I would be walking into and the costumes are all equally fun in different ways. They do a good job balancing out the adventure and recreation costumes too. So you get a break from faster paced action by baking instead. Smart. My favorite is you get a magical girl transformation for each new costume you get and only for the first time you get it.
The transformations are fun. Plain and simple.
From a gameplay perspective I don’t actually have that many complaints. It’s not complicated by any means, nor is it hard. But it’s not meant to be those things. Princess Peach Showtime is just a fun cozy game getaway. Maybe even something you play in between other games.
Then there’s Madame Grape. I get what they were going for. They wanted a fruit villain because they have a “fruit” protagonist. (I think there is an homage to Dionysus as well.) But it’s just very eh. I don’t know how to fix that to make it less eh. I think it’s a core design problem. Additionally Madame Grape, despite being mentioned throughout the entire story, isn’t very important. She is a vessel for the plot to exist. Which isn’t inherently a bad thing, a lot of Nintendo villains fill this role, but she also has no iconic qualities to her either. She’s just kind’ve this purple blob that shows up from time to time. I do like that Nintendo didn’t use Bowser though. It keeps the game female centric. So that’s cool.
I can’t get over how she needs to look more grape themed. I know Peach doesn’t necessarily have Peach themes but like… you could’ve told me she was the fucking plum queen and I would’ve believed you. But I’m nitpicking again.
Tumblr media
Stella the helper is… nothing. She exists as the vessel to make Peach a magical girl. Stella is the magical girl pet/wand/narrator for the adventure. She’s not bad. She’s just nothing.
The other NPCs (both friend and foe) fall into that Nintendo hole of being the same cardboard cutout person in different costumes over and over too. (At least they had different costumes…) Which is to be expected at this point, they’re just “not Toads”. And I know not every game can have a Mario Odyssey budget but I feel like we needed more visual variety within the NPC cast. Though this is an old ass complaint folks have had about Mario titles for a while so I’m not going to dwell on it too much.
Also while “stars” make sense the little “not toads” should’ve been fruit themed too. That way you could at least swap out multiple colors and call them different “fruits” if you wanted to be lazy about it.
I guess that’s the issue with the game in general. The only real character that has any semblance of personality is Peach. Everything and everyone else is just set dressing so Peach can perform for the player. it makes sense but it leaves the world feeling empty. And I’m not asking for lore. This is not that kind of game. I think I just want more substance. Which is hard to do when you’re boiling down tropes into a 3 act structure for each costume.
And I have a lot of nitpicks here. Almost like I dislike the game. Which was not the case at all. I had a grand time. The costumes are fun, it’s fun to play all the way through, and the levels in the game itself also doesn’t overstay its welcome. At max you’re looking at a 12 hour experience if you’re a completionist.
Under ten if you just want to play it.
Visually the game is beautiful. The music was nothing to write home about.
But. I think because it’s a short experience I’m disappointed it didn’t push itself harder to be high aesthetic. Games that are both genuinely good and girly are hard to find. Often “feminine focused” games like this just fucking suck. You can tell Nintendo cared about this project.
But I think to be an 8 or 9 experience it needed to push its visuals a bit harder.

So I saw the Super Mario Bros movie the other day and I have Thoughts And Opinions™ on a couple things (idk what counts as a spoiler but it's all under the 'keep reading' just to be safe) P.S.: Damn this got longer than expected 💀
First and foremost, we all know it's not a masterpiece. It's not meant to be life-changing, it's meant to be fun. It's meant to entertain kids who have little to no knowledge of the Mario Bros games AND avid Mario fans at the same time, and I think the movie managed to do it pretty well.
I've read a few comments saying they didn't like the pace, that it was weird and fast. Y'all. That's how you keep a kid's attention. Hell, that's how you keep MY attention (as someone with ADHD). It's colourful, funny, and has great upbeat songs that had the whole theatre smiling and doing little dances in their seats and even singing along! And most important: the kids were DELIGHTED, they weren't talking or walking around out of boredom AT ALL, they were completely engrossed in the movie, we all were.
And now that I've made clear I liked the movie a lot, let's move on to less favorable opinions, random thoughts and such.
They better be making a Luigi centric movie soon because what the fuck was that. Yeah I get the Main Character is Mario but you can't have Luigi 'disappear' from most of the movie AFTER BEING IGNORED BY HIS FAMILY AT DINNER. "He was a prisoner" well have him try to escape or something! I don't care! I just need him to be appreciated!
Also we know Mario trained but... when did Luigi learn how to fight for the final battle? [New headcanon unlocked: Luigi is a natural at fighting but tries to avoid it at all costs because he's scared]
Loved Princess Peach, what a girlboss. Would've liked to see her girlbossing even more but yeah. Chef's kiss.
MARIO AND LUIGI. Their relationship, how they care for each other, how fucking happy and relieved they are to be reunited I just-- flawless, perfect, incredible, 100000/10.
Bowser just wanted to be happy okay? I know that's not how one does things but... he was trying. I'm sad now.
Also Bowser's hot and the voice they've given him in Spanish was a great nice amazing surprise.
Blue Shell Koopa has a place in my heart now.
The Luma is Gen Z.
Luigi saving Mario and joining forces for the final battle? Sharing the star? I teared up that was so GOOD. (Does not make up for the lack of Luigi in the rest of the movie but it's a good start.)
Still not over the cuteness of the second post-credit scene.
Loved the bowuigi scenes, didn't know that much bisexuality could be conveyed in so little time. Another win for the community. Hey Nintendo I've got a few ideas for a Bowuigi movie if you're interested.
The DK & Mario scenes are phenomenal and there aren't enough words to describe how perfect their conversation inside the eel was.
If you got this far, thank you for reading my nonsense! I hope you have a very nice day and you're more than welcome to comment/reblog with your own Toughts And Opinions™. This movie has me in a chokehold.
It has also given me ideas to continue the Bowuigi fic. Win-win.

MAJOR TOTK SPOILERS (end game)
I think what actually made me cry the most at the end of totk wasn’t the Light Dragon appearing to help Link fight the Demon Dragon, it wasn’t Link skydiving to catch Zelda, nor was it Zelda finally realising that Link had managed to defeat Ganondorf, it was Mineru finally fading away and joining Rauru and Sonia in the afterlife in the post credits scene
Rauru obviously faded away at the beginning of the game after his purpose of guiding Link to handing the Master Sword to Zelda was complete, but Mineru had to wait so much longer. Her purpose was to make up for the mistakes the Zonai had made in the past, and the only way to do that was for Ganondorf to be defeated. She would’ve had to wait 10,000 trapped in the Purah Pad, and then however long it takes Link to get to the Spirit Temple, to finally feel some sort of freedom.
That final scene, with all the sages + Link and Purah at the Temple of Time just broke me, for that reason. Idk who voiced Mineru but whoever it was absolutely nailed the delivery of someone who is trying to remain calm and poised, but deep down you can just tell she is trying not to cry. The new sages vowing to protect both Hyrule and Zelda then gives her the final reassurance that everything will now be okay, and she knows she can return to the afterlife where both she and Rauru can finally be at ease. You couldn’t really have a better send off for a 10,000 year old ghost
(Though I do wonder: is there going to be a new Sage of Spirit? Or will the roster now be reduced to just 5 sages, since Link no longer has Rauru’s arm which kinda cuts off the connection to the Light Sage. At first I thought that Purah would replace Mineru, since the Sheikah seem to be a “replacement” or sorts for the Zonai due to their love of technology but obviously the Sheikah lack the same magical powers the Zonai have access to, there’s nothing really for the Secret Stone to enhance. Idk, I’m not making up more questions for Nintendo to ever answer lmao)

Reader Insert Mini-Fic: Musical!Beetlejuice Helps You Go To Sleep
I saw a few similar things on here and wanted to try my hand at writing one. Anything to get my NaNoWriMo count higher than it currently is. It’s short, simple, and a little silly. Very self-indulgent. Cringe, if I may. I hope you enjoy it.
Word count: 666 lmao
You can’t sleep. Work has been stressful lately and dread of the following day has started to seep into time you should be spending unconscious. It’s a huge pain in the ass. It’s exhausting. But you have a plan. The last thing you would think of to help with anxiety is a demon, but the demon you know happens to be a pal and up for a sleepover.
As you lay in bed you gaze tiredly up at your ceiling where the specter in question is reclining as though gravity means nothing to him. His clothing is a shabby riot of black and white stripes and his boots look like theyv’e never been polished. A wild shock of green hair sits high on his head and his furry brows meet together as he stares down at you. He is generously shaped and reminds you very much of if a cheeseburger was a person.
“You asleep yet?” He asks in a gravely voice.
“No, not yet,” you admit. As much as you appreciate his company, it doesn’t do a whole lot to make you sleepy. Your eyes want to stay open to catch any little thing he does. He’s unpredictable. Like a spider.
“You want me to sing you a lullaby?” Beetlejuice says with a grin. You know better than to say yes.
When he doesn’t get an answer he reaches into the depths of his filthy coat and tugs out your Nintendo DS. He flips it open and cheerful music starts to play. “Boy, you should really call this thing a BS because this Pokemon team of yours is bullshit. No wonder you haven’t beaten the gym yet.”
“Thanks,” you tell him with a roll of your eyes. You close them and try to let the blips and beeps of the game lull you to sleep. It’s almost like falling asleep to a Twitch stream. When suddenly:
“OH yeah! Suck it, Typhlosion!” Beetlejuice shouts and pumps a fist in the air. Your eyes snap open and bore into his. He doesn’t look even a little guilty. “Oh, hey, since you’re still awake, why don’t you tell me the last four digits of your credit card number for absolutely no reason? Just for funsies?”
“Beetlejuice…” you say, a warning in your voice.
“Okay! Okay, but let me tell you watching you try to sleep is like watching a really slow car wreck.” Beetlejuice snaps the DS shut and drops it onto your bed. “It sounds exciting at first but turns out to be a real slog.”
“I’m doing my best,” you tell him.
“I know ya are, champ. Listen, just close your eyes and imagine somewhere peaceful–like a sandy beach. The waves are crashing against the sand in and out, in and out…” You expect him to start making sound effects with his mouth, but suddenly your dark room around you has been replaced by a shoreline bathed in orange sunset light. Palm trees are bowing over your bed like a canopy and the surf crees up within feet of your blankets. The sound is, surprisingly, Relaxing. “Just like that!”
“Beetlejuice, this is amazing!” You sit up and push your hands into the sand on either side of you.
“Hey, lay back down.” He extends a long striped arm to plant his hand against your forehead and shove you backwards. “You’re supposed to be asleep.”
When he takes his hand away, the sunset has turned into a deep purple sky. He still hangs in the air above you, kicked back with some kind of fruity little drink in hand. Seagulls cry somewhere. Your eyelids start to feel heavy.
With a start you wake up. It’s morning and you’re in your bed. Did you imagine Beetlejuice on your ceiling lulling you to sleep with an impressive illusion made just for you? Or was it real? Something pinches your toe and you let out a little scream as you throw off the sheets.
Your bed is full of crabs.

2024 media thread part JANUARY :D
1st January: Super Mario Bros. Movie
finally got around to watching this, and okay, yeah- it was a lot better than i expected. a good time! really fun to watch! it definitely felt like actual fans worked on it, or at the very least, that Nintendo kept a real close eye during production. loooved the little nods to canon; when Pauline showed up, i literally paused to excitedly tell my mom about who that was, haha. also LOVED the difference uses of power ups!! tanuki suit AND cat suit my beloved :]
Bowser was definitely the high point, like!! that IS my little guy!! Jack Black did SUCH a good job, and man. the ANIMATION. the bits where he got all snarly was SO good. would have loved to watch those on the big screen. Luigi was also very Luigi, which i always appreciate. Mario was... eh? not bad! Chris Pine did an okay job, and while i would have preferred something more, it was... fine. and Donkey Kong was a whole lot of fun, actually? tempted to check out his games, because i did really like him
meanwhile, my BIG BIG complaint, is Peach. like, holy fuck. they absolutely butchered my girl! like, yes- as characters, none of them have a lot of personality to work with, but they're archetypes. you're supposed to push within the archetypes- they even did this with Mario. but they just- they completely abandoned who Peach is, as a character. straight up just wrote Daisy instead, which is. really frustrating! and i dislike it A LOT, because there is so much you can do with Peach as a character, and they didn't even try
but otherwise- fun movie! could have been so much worse!
4th January: Outpath
really relaxing and chill game, where you basically just run around collecting resources, upgrading stuff, and unlocking more island. definitely one of those 'put on some music and zone out for a bit' games. that is not a negative
really liked the graphics, and it was fun to just- run around? you get more movement upgrades as you go along, and it actually plays really nicely. also some tasty environmental sounds
i'm not a 100% done with it yet, but i hit the end credits, so. not sure i'll get all the achievements, but i do intent to go back and clean up some loose ends. also really like how it incorporates some idle elements, like you still getting credits(/money) while being offline. makes it more rewarding to open it up and vibe for a bit
i do think there was an.. attempt? at some kind of story, but i entirely missed it, so i guess that's my only real critic. it was just a fun chill game to sink like, 25 hours into lol
9th January: Momodora: Reverie Under The Moonlight
i've had this game in my library for literally who knows how long, and it's one i've always been aware of, since it was really big back in the day, and oh my god. oh my god, why did i not play this sooner?
it's rather short, took me around 7 hours, but it just- it nails what it wants to be, this tough little game with so much moodiness and tragedy, and i'm so enamoured. i tried playing the original one before this, but it wasn't quite hitting, but man. this one just. it hit so fucking good
there's so many layers here, so many unspoken little details. so so much tragedy you could really dig your fingers into, and as a Tragedy Enjoyer, ooooh it hits good
i'm considering either replaying it myself, or watching a LP and then writing some fic, because there is a little thing hiding here, something i want to put words to. it's good, can't wait to check out the rest, and the upcoming sequel/finale. also, the game is gorgeous
18th January: Switch OVA
so Switch is a two episode long 'adaptation' of a manga, and while it very much just drops you into the middle of the plot, it- works? like, i personally wasn't missing anything, and the case they chose to adapt works really well as a teaser for the manga, because i did leave it considering checking out the manga, and while the whole thing isn't anything to write home about, i did enjoy myself
(i also watched the whole thing on my phone, curled up in bed, so that did maybe increase my enjoyment. it was cozy! what can i say!)
funnily enough, i did walk into this thinking it was a yaoi, and while i don't think it is, there really was nothing to disprove me of this assumption. there's literally a moment where protag guy gets told 'he likes' the other protag guy, and he bLUSHES. LIKE. STRAIGHT OUT OF A YAOI FR FR
all in all, it was honestly just a really cozy time. it wasn't long enough to lose my interest, and there was enough in it to keep it- and i really like the design of the red haired guy! very simple, but really appealing too. i genuinely might check out the manga, my interest is definitely piqued

hi i just read your blog description and
how does one even begin to go about downloading an entire bootleg onto a Nintendo 3DS, of all things? what exactly prompted you to do this?
I am so glad you asked!
I enjoy the 3DS (and have an alt blog dedicated to my Nintendo shenanigans!) and I absolutely love having access to media entirely offline and without a buffering time! And to complete the trifecta, I had very bad writers block at the time. So uh there’s the why, the but how is chaos so do buckle in
First, I needed a bootleg as an MP4 as the 3DS no longer runs YouTube and I wanted to have it 100% offline. YouTube downloader and 5 minutes and that part was done. Next, actually getting it on the 3DS. A 3DS doesn’t tolerate MP4 files, and despite mine being homebrewed, I couldn’t find a program to play MP4 files. I, being me, tried to finagle it into working anyway. Unsurprisingly it didn’t, so back to the drawing board.
It took a few minutes of furious googling to remember that the 3DS had a pre-installed camera. That could take videos. However, there were some unfortunate limits..
- The filetype needed to be changed from MP4 to AVI.
- The videos could not exceed 10 minutes.
- The resolution is.. bad. 480x240. But if I wanted to watch Tanz with good resolution, why would I download it to a 3DS, eh? A grade-A viewing experience is clearly not the goal here.
Got to work chopping Tanz into 7-10 minute segments in the most sensible places I could. This is what took the longest, as I wanted the cuts to make some sort of sense. I tried to cut between songs or scenes, on top of an already present break in the music. Next, I ran all of these files through a converter to get them in the AVI that the 3DS can understand. Lastly, there was the small task of getting them onto the SD card and storing backup files in an organized manner on my computer so I can get Tanz onto my OTHER 3DS consoles at a later date. I also have a Switch Lite that I’d like to put it on, but my silly camera exploit won’t work because the Switch doesn’t have a camera. Shame.
Anyway I had to name the files so they would appear in order on the laptop and on the 3DS, and I had an AVI and MP4 for each portion. I think there were like 15 parts? I’ll check in the morning, I’m very tired and the system is dead at the moment. But there’s a folder in the applications section than I transferred the video files into, checking every so often to make sure they were working and uploading properly, and luckily they were so it was just a drag and drop operation from there. And that’s how I got Tanz on a 3DS.
I’ll proofread and add images (I think my blog banner is the Tanz credit screen on the 3DS) in the morning, and better explain some stuff. If you have any questions about this or other 3DS stuff please feel free to ask! I love to talk about it!

Thoughts on The Super Mario Bros Movie
Spoilers ahead
- - -
Positives
- The fact that Bowser's entire plan to get the Power Star was just so he could use it as a proposal gift to Peach is hilarious 🤣
- Jumpman!
Syrprised no one has mentioned this yet. No seriously this cameo made me smile so hard 😄 And yes it is Charles Martinet, and yes he is playing "Jumpman" in the background!
I just thought it was very sweet and YES while he doesn't look like game Mario, it was the best way they could've done it in, my opinion.
- The family was charming!
Honestly when I heard they had a whole family I got very worried that they would be taking up so much screen time.
It's like the issue I have with the humans in the Sonic movie's so far - they are not terrible, but I find it hard to care about them when they are not the main characters, and they go and high jack the movie.
But surprisingly, they aren't in it for too long! They are only at the beginning and end, and serve their purpose. In short, I am ok with them 👍🏻
- Bowser is perfect!
They got Bowser so right - honestly was a bit worried that he was just going to be a love struck clown throughout the whole thing...but when he gets mad or something doesn't go his way - he's terrifying! They really captured the fury of what a monster he is, both Jack Black and the animators 👏🏻
- OK now I know the other reason why they hired Jack Black! Bowser being a secret rocking music dude is not what I was expecting, and I love it 🤣👌🏻
- The fight scenes
DAMN! They did not hold back on these! The way the characters hit each other, the number of times Mario should've been dead with how hard he got smacked around. Dang it's brutal! And I love it!
Gotta mention the epic DK/Cat Mario, Rainbow Road 🌈, and Bowser/Luigi/Mario fights!!! So good 💗
- The Bros reunion
Need to mention it here, even though I already knew about it and gushed about it so many times there is literally nothing else I can say! It's a beautiful moment and even though it's quick I'm so glad they took the time to make that a moment ❤💚
- THE BROS FIGHTING TOGETHER
Kudos to the movie for never forgetting the true heart of the movie - the Bros' relationship. Luigi coming in to defend Mario, the Bros taking each other's hand, them running to the star together, Bowser being absolutely pummelled by them! It's so good!!! 💗💗💗 I could watch that all day!
- This movie actually made me like Donkey Kong but not Seth Rogan
- I like what they did with the Kong's being a whole kingdom and like a big family 💗
- DIDDY KONG GOT A LINE
- Toad is a funky dude. Please give him more in the sequel!
- I like the fact the end credits was so open. Yes I am aware some are upset that Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, and even Rosalina did not appear. But I think that it's a good thing. It shows that Nintendo and Universal did not want to hype up too much, just in case of the possibility of a sequel never happening (you can't really tell with Hollywood sometimes...) and it just means they got time to work on it.
This is the issue I had with Tails being introduced at the end of the Sonic Movie. They hyped him up so much, only for the writers to have to try and write in a sloppy reason in Sonic Movie 2 for why he is there.
It's clear this movie was a MARIO movie. Not hyping up too much for a cinematic universe or trying to get to the sequel - and I appreciate that immensely.
- The fact that Foreman Spike and Peach (two characters who have been in the same franchise but have never interacted due to the time and console releases their intro games took place in) suddenly sharing the same space in a movie??? That is surreal to me.
Negatives
Technically these aren't so much negatives - just nit picks and little annoyances I found that they could've done better - and also talk about some complaints other people have mentioned.
- The pacing
Yes everyone has talked about this - and they aren't wrong about it...but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! Yes some scenes did seem to be on fast forward, just so the writers could get to the parts they really wanted to do...but when you also look at it from the perspective of urgency that the Mushroom Kingdom is under, some of it does make sense.
But still, the movie does tend to move at too fast a pace sometimes. But it is a fun rush. I can't really find a middle ground with it...
- Slow mo
No seriously did Zach Snyder take over at some point? There were too many pointless slow mo scenes for my liking.
- The pop songs
Not as bad as I thought they were going to be - but I still can't stand pop songs on Mario and I especially hate 80s songs!
In fact, what bothered me the most was the weird opera song they kept playing during their scuffle with the dog. Not only is it obnoxious, but it's playing so loud over the sounds and voices that you can't process anything effectively. It's weird and should've just been left out of the scene.
- Cranky's voice
Literally the only voice in the movie I felt did not fit the character at all. He should've sounded more old and grumpy.
- The fact it went by so fast!!! It was such a rush it went so quick. I wanted to stay in the MK forever 😭
- Luigi being absent
Honestly, yes we needed more of the Bros, but it was inevitable that Luigi wasn't going to have more screen time. Yes it is sad a prison breakout did not happen, but with all the footage they revealed up until release, it became more clear to me thst this wasn't going to happen. There just wasn't going to be time. I'm not upset about it, but we definitely need more in the sequel.

20 credit hour semesters are not good for the speed of active progress on personal projects, but I've got that One Meta Thing I Have Yet to Name rotating in my mind for a bit, and I have Thoughts.
Anyways. It's weirdly hard to accurately get across what I mean when I talk about this thing, but I think the difference between canon and fanon Benrey HLVRAI really encapsulates it by virtue of being such a stark contrast. I'd be hard pressed to find a better example of how fandoms change characters to slot more cleanly into that common perception. Benrey's in such a unique position; he's an inhuman villain canonically "lusting over" the protagonist the whole time, he has a lot of interactions with other characters, a blank slate for a backstory, a lot of very memorable and dramatic moments. It would be difficult to deliberately create a character better fit to becoming the fandom's favorite. Also, by design he is completely fucking nonsensical and absurd. He is tied so, so tightly to Scorpy's sense of humor. iirc Holly talked during an interview for a podcast about how Benrey makes a more terrifying (and hilarious) villain because of that complete sense of like... you absolutely cannot understand him, you absolutely cannot reason with him, he is talking about how "SONY CEO JACK TRETTON HIRED... a Nintendo CEO Reggie and they built a big... BOMB" and he is going to kill you.
Everybody rewrites Benrey. I'd argue that you kind of HAVE TO, if you want to write anything remotely serious with a character like that. It's very commonly noticeable with the other characters too; HLVRAI has a story, but moment-to-moment, commitment to the bit and "what would be the funniest thing to say or do here" takes priority over developing a character that works in more serious contexts. (Side note and clarification, this isn't a criticism of HLVRAI, it's a lot of fun, it's just another way that the source material and fandom find themselves at serious odds, and if I had the time and energy I would be writing out another long post about the tone side of how fandom changes things.) Some characters hew more closely to canon characterization in fanfiction- Gordon as the straight man translates easily, and Dr. Coomer plays ball with tone shifts very well- and the author's own balance of interest in the source material vs the fandom plays a big role as well. But I have never, ever seen a Benrey I could mistake for the canonical Benrey. (Not that the canonical Benrey could really WORK in a text medium, imo. Live improv in GMod is his natural environment and specialized niche.)
Which brings me back to my own project, where the characters are the fanon versions of a nonexistent children's cartoon being eventually exposed to the nature of their reality. Fanon interpretations are obviously something I'm thinking a lot about as I'm developing characters, both in terms of general inspiration and as research for making them really click as something you would see scrolling through your dashboard. But as wonderful of an example Benrey is, that very same extreme absurdism makes him difficult as a model for the changes people make to make unique characters fit a mold, because that would imply a world where something like THIS
youtube
could be the main villain's speech from a children's cartoon.
actually that fucking rules

When trailers outshine themselves
I like watching trailers. Maybe even more now than I used to.
I’m well aware that the purpose of a trailer is to build hype and interest. It’s a commercial, to get you to buy something. In some cases, they spoil or ruin the very story they’re advertising. In some cases, it’s way better to go in “blind” than to look at marketing materials.
But, like many of us, I can’t help myself.
I really love a good trailer. It’s a cool artform. Somewhere between an advertisement and a music video. And because the trailer is such a different artform than the actual movie or game that it’s advertising, sometimes the trailer itself is even better than the final product. Sometimes I’ll go back and rewatch a trailer over and over, even after I’ve completed the actual thing it was hyping it.
I write this post not to complain about being disappointed about films or TV shows or games, but rather to give a shout-out to the trailer teams who I think did a fantastic job with their assignment.
The first examples that always jump to my mind are from Marvel Studios. I think they’re pretty great at trailers. I started noticing this when they started making their Disney+ shows.
WandaVision: Both the initial trailer and the mid-season trailer are fantastic. I’ve watched them over and over. They do a good job of being charming, romantic, and lovesick. They do an even better job of being mysterious and unsettling. It’s a pitch-perfect way to get you to buy into the concept and want to check out the show. I enjoyed watching the full WandaVision show, maybe moreso than any other MCU Disney+ show, but I wouldn’t hesitate to admit that I like these two trailers even more than the show. Kudos to the editors that put these together.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier: I had absolutely no intention of watching this show. I’m not particularly interested in this genre or either of these two characters. But the trailer sold me on it, with its hype music choices and intense cutting. I ended up enjoying the show enough in the end, but definitely not as much as this hype trailer.
I thought Marvel did a great job again with Loki’s trailer and Hawkeye’s trailer. Loki’s trailer makes the show seem a lot more mysterious and surreal than it actually ended up being, haha. Hawkeye does that classic “sweet Christmas music juxtaposed with action sequences” trick.
They got me again with Moon Knight, a character I didn’t know anything about. Although I’ll give credit, I feel like Moon Knight was about as weird and wild as the trailer hyped up it would be. So in this case I think it was a satisfying match.
Another satisfying match? The trailers made for Undertale. The release trailer and Nintendo Switch trailer come to mind. They’re fun, funny, and show off how the game works. I love this unique version of the Bonetrousle track that they use, which becomes very dramatic and grandiose. They’re also good examples of including original material into trailers that aren’t actually in the final product. That practice, generally speaking, doesn’t bother me. I don’t mind if trailers “lie” or show different footage, so long as it’s effective and doesn’t feel misleading.
There are other trailers that I feel like match pretty well. I didn’t feel any gulf in expectation or emotion between the trailers for Avengers Infinity War + Endgame versus their final movie versions.
The trailers for Pixar’s Turning Red made me blubber and tear up, and the full film completely lived up to that and even exceeded it. So for me, that was a great film where the trailer editors captured it perfectly.
And for an example of one where I felt mixed on the end product, both the trailer for Pixar’s Elemental and the full Elemental film felt pretty equivalent to me. It wasn’t my favorite movie in the world, and I feel like I got that vibe accurately from the trailers.
But now, finally, for the trailers that brought me to writing this.
I really love the trailers for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
I’ll include two here. One is the “release date announcement”, and the second was the “theme song announcement” that was aired at The Game Awards.
youtube
This is great. It’s moody. It moves into one of the game’s fantastic battle themes (which is itself a sweeping battle rendition of the original game’s main theme.) It’s shows off how the combat works beautifully, intercut with tantalizing plot snippets. The trailer builds up mystery and adventure. It confirms that Yuffie and Cait Sith are playable. It shows cool Synergy combo moves. It manages to somehow transition gracefully into Golden Saucer minigame mayhem. Love it.
youtube
Another fantastic one. And the last piece of marketing material I would ever need to see to sell me on getting the game.
The trailer is split into two halves. The first half establishes the plot of the game. It gives us Cloud and Zack’s stories intertwined. It shows us weird, confusing story stuff that sets the Remake trilogy apart from the original. It shows us different environments you’ll travel through. Gives us a heartfelt conversation between Cloud and Tifa. Snippets of Barret’s story too.
The second half is the new original song for the game, No Promises to Keep, which was performed live at The Game Awards along with the footage. I really adore this song, to be blunt, so maybe that’s doing a lot of heavy lifting here. But it really makes me emotional and ties a lot of these disparate clips together. The animation of Aerith singing is beautiful, and it ends on a heart-tugging cliffhanger.
Now….my partner and I have been playing Rebirth. I’m early on, but they’ve only got about a quarter of the game left. We’re enjoying it, it’s great.
But…
…would it be out of line for me to say that the trailers are more effective than the game itself?
Much like WandaVision, the trailers for Rebirth sew all of the different scenes and emotions together into a seamless tapestry. It makes everything feel intentional, beautiful, well-paced, and packing an emotional punch. When my partner and I play the game itself, it feels harder for that intentionality and emotion to come through. Of course your mileage will vary. But, for me, it’s hard for the minigames to live up to the frantic montage when playing them in-game isn’t super fun. It’s hard for the emotional storytelling of the game to live up to the trailer when it’s spread out thin over hours and hours. Nothing in the game itself as made me feel as emotional or hooked in as these two trailers have, at least so far.
Again, this is not a knock on Rebirth. It’s the reality of how much easier it is to move hearts with a 2-minute trailer versus a 60-hour video game. A completely different artform.
And, most of all, it’s kudos to the trailer teams who work at Square and at all these companies for knowing the assignment and knocking it out of the park. I really love what they did with it.

i feel like nintendo tried to make Zelda perfect because of misogyny. which has always been a thing in Zelda games especially directed at Zelda as a concept and character (trapping her in crystals or statues. that you have to find her etc) it's the same age old female characters cannot have any flaws or else they're a selfish bitch. i wish we saw her be angry at rauru or something but i guess that would go against the narrative. most Zelda games at least had her show some of her emotions besides sadness ... sometimes, this one just didn't show much even if i adore her and will go and find little things in the crevices of this very black and white writing, because i know fans will always turn on her despite the fact that shes also in the writers whims while link who also follows the established status people complain about but gets no shit at all (which i also think he should not get shit for lol)
Yeah, I agree it's definitively a thing in the way female characters are written. However, BotW did show that fans could absolutely care about a less-than-perfect version of Zelda (honestly, so did Skyward Sword, Spirit Tracks --hell, even in Ocarina of Time she makes pretty crucial mistakes). Sonia is handled in the same way Zelda is too: she is paper thin, with the veneer of a more Girlboss personality that never actually meshes with the plot in any way (so it could be removed without consequence, which is a pretty good sign her writing is inorganic imo), since her only function in the story is to get killed so Ganondorf gets a stone, and Rauru gets his tragic arc.
I fully agree the series has its issues when writing women, even up until pretty recently (I'll shut up about gerudos for once in my life and be annoying about something different for a change: but BotW!Paya always made me feel pretty uncomfortable personally, as she's so overtly a character written to be a sexual fantasy before being a person, and I feel like the series didn't dare sailing these waters in quite a long time --OoT being the worst offender imo). But Zelda herself had far more interesting iterations in the series that the casual audience give her credit for, even if she does get damseled left and right and used as reward/motivation --but I feel like it's not always handled in a way that deshumanizes her, there had been interesting iterations on this idea in the series as a whole. Which is why Tears of the Kindgom feels so.... regressive to me? The series used to be much better at handling its female characters --this series gave us Midna! A character that starts off by insulting and demeaning us, mocking our powerlessness by physically embodying our terrified, kidnapped friends and using the player as a mount by force! And she's almost universally agreed-upon as one of the best written characters in the series!!
So yeah, to me, while this absolutely doesn't negate the issues this series has with its female characters, it really is a TotK problem specifically.

And so, after 295 hours, I decided to finally challenge the final boss of Tears of the Kingdom today, and now the credits are rolling. I didn't finish every side quest yet or get every collectible, but I will do that overtime. I just wanted to be free from the shackles of worrying about seeing a spoiler. I'm afraid the final boss actually was somewhat spoiled for me, but it's something I could have easily seen coming. I won't be spoiling anything major here. If I do feel like something constitutes a major spoiler, I will put up a warning.
Breath of the Wild was always going to be in my top 3 Zelda lists temporarily. I could see that even before I beat the game. It was clearly the blue print for the future of Zelda, and the next game would dethrone it in that top 3 very easily...
Well, was I right about that?
Tumblr media
I didn't have many problems with Breath of the Wild. It was pretty close to my idea of a perfect Zelda game. I just wanted more variety in the enemies, caves, and more unique looking dungeons. I also wanted better bosses, including the final boss, and a bit more backstory to the final boss. These were the bare minimum of what I was asking for. All of them were addressed for the most part. The common enemies from the last game are still the most common enemies in TOTK. But they have new tricks, and there are enough other enemies, and the less common enemies in BOTW are now more common, so I'd say the problem was fixed well enough for me.... I still want more enemies in the next game though. Caves were not game changers, but they broke up the overworld exploration and every one of them had at least one collectible in it, so that was worth something. I still haven't found a good chunk of caves in the game.
The dungeons are now themed. And there is one in particular that is super reminiscent of Ocarina of Time. I don't think these dungeons will make believers out of classic Zelda fans that dislike BOTW, even though they're taking out of the OOT playbook pretty closely... I just think classic Zelda fans choose to be difficult. It's not enough that you can make a hammer, it has to be the megaton hammer, it's not enough that you're making your way to a switch that unlocks the path to the dungeon boss, there has to be small keys in treasure chests, it's not enough that you gain a new ability before the dungeon that you need to reach the dungeon, and progress through the dungeon, and defeat the dungeon boss, it has to be a gadget you find in a treasure chest half way through the dungeon... I'm sorry to classic Zelda fans, but this is just so much better to me. .......all the shrines still look the same though, which sucks, but at least they're not as ugly as the BOTW Shrines. Just because it has irl historical inspiration does not make it good.
The bosses are better. Three of them are great, very classic Zelda. One of them sucks. And another one is more like a Donkey Kong 64 boss, but I still thought it was cool... the Final Bosses were great. Slight spoiler alert, but they do not explain anything regarding Calamity Ganon and his connection to Ganondorf, if there even is a connection. I guess the theorists are gonna have to do the leg work unless Nintendo has another expensive book to sell... The backstory for Ganondorf in this game kind of sucks and makes no sense. They're kind of retreading old ground here but not in a fanservicy way. But it doesn't bring my opinion of the game down.
As for the more common complaints other people tended to have with BOTW... I really didn't have issues with durability, in my opinion, people who do have an issue either have a skill issue, or a hoarding issue. So I didn't need that addressed. If anything, I actually don't care for how TotK addressed this "issue"... like, I kind of like the concept, but not the execution... not because it made a new problem or anything... it just made the weapons all look ugly... I also don't play Zelda for story. If anything, I prefer story to be more subdued and not break up the pace of the game like Skyward Sword. So weather the story was good or bad, the fact that it didn't get in the way of the game itself makes it a non issue for me. However, I cannot enjoy the story of this game if it's meant to take place in the same universe as the other Legend of Zelda games. There is too much revisionist crap that doesn't make sense and even retroactively sours all the easter egg in BOTW for me... however, if I treat BOTW and TOTK as a reboot with no connections to the past games, I think I quite like the story. But the easter eggs from BOTW are still gonna bother me. So in other words, TOTK has a good story, but it doesn't fit in with the rest of the series. I don't care how often this series does time travel... what's even more disappointing is that Ganondorf's first words in the game is a real "oh shit" moment for me, because I thought this was going to be a game that was very meaningfully connected to the past... but no, it turns out, they just re-used an old Zelda character's name for a new one, and he has no connection whatsoever to that old character. Just a funny coincidence.
Anyway... my favorite part of the Zelda series besides exploring vast worlds is also the combat, and almost all of Link's tricks from BOTW return. I already felt like the combat in BOTW was pretty great as long as you didn't just hammer the melee button and do nothing else. But TOTK adds a lot of options. Many new ways to alter your melee weapons, your bows, a lot of items an be thrown with varying effects, even your shields could be used in combat, and you could even build devices that can assist you in battle.
The building mechanic is kind of optional, but is too fun not to experiment with. You can make devices that will help you traverse the terrain more easily, gain altitude, assist in battle, just straight up make attack robots or turrets or attack vehicles, it's great. I do think some people can't be bothered to mess with it though, which is a shame. I don't like to fast travel unless it's absolutely necessary, so I was constantly building little scooters, ATVs, and even a small aircraft... I do kind of miss having the Master Cycle Zero though. Nothing I built quite matched it in ease of use and mobility. But being able to mount laser canons on the front made up for it.
I replayed BOTW immediately before this game. And I was pretty amazed at how fresh the exploration felt. So much of Hyrule is just not recognizable at all. There's still easily recognizable landmarks like the Dueling Peaks, but things really got shaken up...
I know saying this would cause me to end up like that meme with the cat having all those swords pointed at it, but I truly would not be mad if they made this a trilogy of games and reused this map one more time, as long as it was shaken up even more, and they gave us at least one more new landmass to explore...
...oh yes. That's right. This game had islands in the sky, and an entire Hyrule Sized map underground that is kind of like the Dark World from a Link to the Past, except once the novelty wears off, it's not really that amazing, it's mostly a place to gather a few resources, re-fight bosses, and you will occasionally encounter a curiosity or find a cool treasure chest... the game brings back Poes, but not really... they're not little ghost monsters you have to defeat for their souls, they're just little blue flames you can pickup and spend for currency. A little disappointing. But at least the things you can buy with them are kind of cool. Useful for replacing some of those easter egg weapons people will be too afraid to use for fear of breaking. The side quests in this game are much better than in BOTW, especially with the addition of the new "Side Adventures" which are generally a bit larger in scale... the rewards still tend to suck... not as much as in BOTW because a lot of of the useless junk that you'd just sell in BOTW now has a secondary use in TOTK. But much like BOTW, I don't care if the rewards suck... for me, the journey is the reward. I just like playing around in Hyrule, fighting monsters, and now, exploring caves and building vehicles and flying through the sky.
I might go more in depth in my thoughts at another time, I have so many of them, but this game is just too big for me to cover in one big tumblr post, it is made up of so many parts, this is one of Nintendo's biggest games to date, and it is also one of the most fun games i've played, probably since Breath of the Wild. This easily bodies anything they've released between then and now, for me personally speaking.
If you have anything you'd like me to talk about further, my inbox is open, and of course i'm happy to talk Zelda that isn't related to TOTK, or just talking in general. Have at me.
Tumblr media
On a side note... one thing I wished was different from BOTW was that you could unlock the classic green tunic earlier rather than making it an end game reward... you can find it immediately since it' just in a chest somewhere... I am embarassed how long it took me to find all three pieces. I found the tunic... but the trousers and cap eluded me for many days while I scoured the game, but if I actually thought about where I found the tunic, and applied my knowledge of BOTW, I could have easily deduced the location of the other two chests. Oh well... also... the actual end game reward really sucks, but once again.... journey is the reward. I'm just happy I got my green tunic back.

The real one. I saw the real one
Tumblr media
That's it. There we go. That's the one I saw.
And everybody please go fellow @hisy-fit they have really cool super Mario movie headcocnen 's that are getting the creative juice 's fellowing for fanfiction. So expect that in the future. But for now I want to talk about what we're all here for.
SPOILERS .
In the after credits scene there's this little scene that just says.
Tumblr media
🎶 we're making a sequel , we're making a sequel, we're making a sequel, betcha didn't know 🎶
And now that I finally have seen the Mario movie. I can finally join in on sequel ideas. Yay 😊. Now that everyone is wrapping up thair sequel pitchs . Yay 😔.
( this is my very unsuttle way of asking you to please go subscribe to finnthepony ).
Anyway. While there was a part of me that immediately said. "No no no no no you didn't see anything you didn't see shit we're getting a Luigi 's mansion sequel" .
But then I watched a sequel pitch by one of my favorite my little pony YouTubers. Finnthepony and I just realized that he's onto something.
For one thing I love the idea how he brought in characters like wario and waluigi and how easily they fit into this new story. I seriously think that this should be the root Nintendo and illuminations should take for a sequel.
Now for some things that I came up with.
For one thing I would like for Luigi and donkey Kong to have some sort of interaction at least during the beginning.
I also really want to see the kupalangs
Bowser 's 7 adopted children . I don't know why but I feel like that jack black 's Bowser would be a good dad . Granted I don't change anything with the character . I think it'll be cute if Bowser has a secret soft spot for his kids . I mean the kupalangs where forgotten about for 19 STRAIGHT UP YEARS!!! just now getting rebooted. But Bowser's relationship with them is never really touched on. And I would like to see that explored in a possible 3erd movie. But for the sequel let's just show them helping Bowser escape. In a after credits scene or something. Or even better if we want going with Jack black 's idea the kupalangs could have already helped Bowser escape from the cage and gave a power up or something. But then Mario, Luigi and peach came in to get Bowser 's help to defeat wario.
But come on I know what you're all here for. The biggest question on everybody's mind. One that have baffled movie goers sence the dawn of time.
Who's gonna make out with who.
I like the idea of Luigi and daisy 's relationship being more head on then Mario and peach 's . Don't get me wrong. I really appreciate the fact that they didn't immediately go for the love story. What I meant by that was . Luigi very clearly crushing on Daisy. Stuff like being nervous to hold her hand, blushing whenever he sees her, and just all around happy to spend time with her.
Tumblr media
Another point that finnthepony brought up is the fact that daisy and peach being best friend 's until something caused a rift in the 2's friendship. I think that it's a good idea and I really love how he wrote it.
I highly encourage you too go to his channel subscribe and watch those 2 videos.
And like I said fanfiction coming soon. I already have a few on the page already so feel free to look around.
Thank you for reading 👍

I'm trying to use this blog to document my stuff as a learn and get better! I'm sure future me is cringing reading this right now (hi)
NSFW-Centric Accounts DNI please :)
My main interests are Ace attorney, dialtown, undertale/deltarune, indie horror/horror, art, hellaverse, splatoon, pokemon, nintendo, various youtubers, welcome home, and tons of other things!
All art should be tagged under #kayaks dumb doodles :)
I also run a sideblog (@creature-feature-creature) where I rate silly creatures people send me!
I'm also on Twitter ( X :[ ) under the user @kayakhere
I don't have any issues with my art being reposted as long as proper credit is given! (Don't just mention my name, at least tag or link me)
If you do repost my art and I ask for it to be taken down, please just be nice and take it down :)
yeah that's pretty much it! Thanks for checking me out :D!
