And Sauron urged the King to cut down the White Tree, Nimloth the Fair, that grew in his courts, for it was a memorial of the Eldar and of the light of Valinor…
…and Isildur said no word, but went out by night and did a deed for which he was afterwards renowned. For he passed alone in disguise to Armenelos and to the courts of the King, which were now forbidden to the Faithful; and he came to the place of the Tree, which was forbidden to all by the orders of Sauron, and the Tree was watched day and night by guards in his service.
At that time Nimloth was dark and bore no bloom, for it was late in the autumn, and its winter was nigh; and Isildur passed through the guards and took from the Tree a fruit that hung upon it, and turned to go. But the guard was aroused, and he was assailed, and fought his way out, receiving many wounds; and he escaped, and because he was disguised it was not discovered who had laid hands on the Tree.
But Isildur came at last hardly back to Rómenna and delivered the fruit to the hands of Amandil, ere his strength failed him. Then the fruit was planted in secret, and it was blessed by Amandil; and a shoot arose from it and sprouted in the spring. But when its first leaf opened then Isildur, who had lain long and come near to death, arose and was troubled no more by his wounds.

Nimloth:
The wife of Dior who was killed during the Second Kinslaying.
She Lost So Much Family To A Mortal Fate!!! *inconsolable weeping* She had to hold her newborn twin sons and understand that they'd be dead and gone forever in barely the span that Elves reach maturity, and then she didn't even get *that*! 6 years! She got *Six Years* and her sons were stolen from her and her husband murdered and her daughter is all that's left and that was only chance and we aren't even told they ever reunite like wtf Jirt!
This woman looked at Dior, a part human, part elf, part minor deity/angel thing and said simply "smash". Third in what would become a long line of monsterfuckers (pardon my french)

as of the last poll, the gates of the Halls were opened to everyone (including feanor) when Miriel went to go yell at mandos until he realized the tapestries matched up with the news of Melkors return and heralded the onset of the Dagorath. looks like the elf ladies showed up from the Halls, Valinor, and beyond to join the group scolding eru :D

@sindarweek here's 100 words of near-mythical Nimloth, loosely inspired by @cycas and the marvelous Nimloth in Return to Aman.

The reborn Sindar still sing of her, secretly: the wild huntress, the queen of knives. Nimloth, who won Dior with her laugh and her sharp teeth and her utter disregard for the throne he offered her, for the weight of the crown he bore. Nimloth, whose bird-child flies each morning to meet the setting star. Nimloth, whose shining axe undid the dark plans of Fëanor’s sons, biting and biting as her daughter and their treasure were smuggled away. She hunts with Celegorm, now, in an odd peace, an animal friendship. But the Sindar know she has not trimmed her claws.

Celeborn was Nimloth’s uncle.
He was her uncle.
Celeborn was there the day she was born. He helped teach her how to read. He carried her on his shoulders. He had to tell her that she was going to have an aunt, she likes Lady Galadriel, right?
Celeborn was there to watch her fall hard and fast for Dior, and he got to tease his brother about their little girl being all grown up, and he was at her wedding, they danced at her wedding.
He watches the little girl he saw grow up be crowned Queen, wearing a tiara that’s so different from the one she wore when they played tea party.
Nimloth and he laughed about her having her first child(ren), when he and Galadriel were still enjoying their honeymoon phase, she told him she wanted to meet her eventual cousin! He said, “Don’t worry, we have more time.”
Where was Celeborn when Doriath fell? Was he running around the crumbling city, desperately, desperately searching for his niece and her babies as his entire world is consumed by flames? Does he have a wailing toddler shoved into his arms as Nimloth begs, begs him to go?
Or does he find Elwing later. After coming to believe that in one fell swoop his entire family has been wiped out, the sprawling line of Elmo (and Thingol) reduced to him, is he presented with a child with Nimloth’s eyes who is too young to understand? Does he cradle her close and cry?
Nimloth is dead, and she was his niece.
