Every time I consider drawing Míriel in Lórien I'm faced with the fact that the perfect Míriel and Finwë in Lórien illustration already exists to me annnd it's not even actually a Tolkien illustration, but this fairytale illustration by Virginia Frances Sterrett

another variation on a theme ☕️🫖🫧✨
[Image Description: The image depicts a still life painting of a tea set, rendered in a modern, impressionistic style with visible brush strokes. In the center of the composition lies a glass teapot with a yellow and red design and a translucent appearance, casting a shadow to the left. To the lower left of the pitcher sits a glass tea cup, echoing the yellow and red color scheme, with a shadow cast to the lower left. A metal teaspoon with an ornate handle rests to the right of the pitcher, with reflections suggesting a shiny surface, and its shadow extends to the lower left. All objects are placed on a pale blue surface, seemingly in natural light, with a small yellow tea bag string tag positioned in the upper right corner of the image.]

Only two came forward; Curumo and Alatar... and Alatar took Pallando as a friend
J.R.R Tolkien
Alatar really is the embodiment of that one friend who thinks going on a field trip in the middle of nowhere where you have never been before is a good idea.
It will be fun he said.
Alatar: Such fun we´re having!!
Pallando: Hmm...
Alatar: No?

Glorfindel Week, #1 of 2
Yes, it's already Wednesday of @glorfindelweek, but surely you weren't expecting me to pass up an opportunity to fill another gap in The Flower and the Fountain? Two gaps, in fact, huzzah!
Here's a snippet from today's Gondolin-focused The Body Speaks Where Words Cannot, in which Ecthelion appreciates Glorfindel's dancing.
It is Idril who coaxes the drummers into changing the beat, dropping into what, for most, is an unfamiliar rhythm. Public dancing in Gondolin rarely drifts into Vanyarin styles, with so few of that folk among the city's people. But when it does, there is always a buzz of interest and anticipation – and fortunately, the resident Vanyar love to perform.
Enjoy! More to come on Saturday.

Are there stated heights for the elves or is just-tall.
They were tall and some were taller than others .
No, as far as I'm aware, I've never came across any official listing of the elves height and I don't believe Tolkien ever gave us one.
All we were given was: “He was tall, taller than all the talls. Tallest he was, tallest he will be. Tallest over all.” That's literally what Tolkien's description was like when stating an elf was super tall. Furthermore, height was also linked to an elf's status— if they were a nobility and highly ranked, they were super tall. But most of us barely follow those notes since we all have our depictions.
Because then you have great warriors who were nobles but lesser than a royal and also taller? If you see where I'm coming from.
So that means the elves height varies with respect to each person's headcanons/interpretations. Like with me, I have my own height chart I work with when writing for better visual, example:
Finarfin: 7'8 ft
Egalmoth: 7'6 ft
Rog: 8'1 ft
Maedhros: 8'4 ft (the tall)
Turgon: 8'7 ft (tallest of all the children of the world save Thingol)
Thingol: 9'0 ft + (tallest of all the Eruhíni)
Though, there used to be a website that gave the estimated heights for some of the elves, but imo, the heights were a bit off for some. It was lotr.fandom on wiki, but they no longer produce the heights anymore.

I always loved twins, and Elrond and Elros have a special place in my heart - I wonder when Elros made his choice, and I like the take that it did so when both were still fairly young. I imagine it must not have been easy 💔

I must not mock Gen Alpha. Mocking Gen Alpha is the mind killer. Mocking Gen Alpha is the little-death that brings total generational solidarity obliteration. I will engage with Gen Alpha lovingly. I will permit them to be cringe. And when they grow up I will turn my eye to their accomplishments. Where mocking has gone there will be nothing. Only generational solidarity remains

Let me explain why the Silmarillion hurts so much: Tolkien’s elves are immortal as long as they don’t die from heartache or war. The 1st age has enough elves for multiple large cities, who are amazing poets, architects, artists, and leaders.
By the 3rd age, there’s like 5 left, maybe.
