I went into the new Night Vale episode honestly thinking they were going to pull another "what do you mean the previous episode ended on a cliffhanger no no nothing happened" and we wouldn't hear of Kevin or the Boy in at least two years.
And then the episode was titled "He is still holding a knife" XD

the severe mental dissonance that this arc of WTNV creates truly fucks me up. And the medical trauma! the line "You seem.. disturbed. Your perceived reality has been shattered, hasn't it?" delivered as if a hypnotic command, and "We'd love to study this confused brain of yours" asking to take tests on an incredibly queer (and nd-coded) man is so incredibly chilling. Lubelle is truly the scariest villain yet

went back to relisten to WtNV 234 "The Boy" and i have a theory based on the twist of who the boy is later revealed to actually be.
what we know about kevin is that his father was the one he seemed to have all the issues with. the fact that they focused on his mother in that first episode as being the person he doesn't want to talk about tells me that that's something which is probably going to come back as a twist.
what if it's lauren? what if he isn't actually talking about his mother, but rather Mother Lauren, as she kept insisting on being called in Frown Night. or, maybe she is kind of his actual mother, and she somehow created him specifically to get rid of the old kevin and replace him with a version she has more influence over

Oh man WTNV 230 "Carlos Explained" told SO much from one line from Janet Lubelle.
"You get the funding for researching a weird desert town, but I couldn't get the funding to make eye exploding measles?"(Paraphrased)
In one sentence she explains the kind of scientist she is,the kind who'd try to change the world just for the sake of changing it, regardless of how it would effect others.
As much as her audible disdain for Night Vale said otherwise, her explanations changing the physical world to her whim gave her the power she desperately wanted, but was thankfully never given in the Normal world.
Science should be used as a tool to improve lives, and explain away problems that make things difficult for people, Dr Lubelle however much like pharmaceutical companies skews data without peer review as long as it fits their agenda, and alters an entire eco-system just because she could.
In short, she's a colonizer, not a proper scientist, and I hope that dead cow carcass hurt bad.

okay so Cecil, by bringing up The Weather, can summon a song to start playing. this is brought up in Ep 53: The September Monologues, where he does it at Abby and Steve’s wedding, and then in both Ep 52: The Retirement of Pamela Winchell and Ep 55: The University of What It Is, Cecil uses it to distract people.
Now that The Weather has been explained away, what does that mean for this “power” of Cecil’s?

Ngl the funniest bit was when Cecil said one of the horoscope predictions had been chewed and bloodied and then he flipped a page on his script to reveal the bottom third was missing, with an uneven edge and red sharpie along it.
