WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE YEAR 1 REVIEW
I fairly recently started listening to welcome to night vale because I listen to the magnus archives and this was in my more like this section on Spotify and I had heard about it before and that if you like the magnus archives you'll like this so I decided to give it a try
And I got to say I am really enjoying this shit it is absolutely batshit crazy balls to the walls if I stop paying attention for even one second I have no clue what is going on and have to backtrack but it is so weird and interesting it's not as structured as the magnus archives is but there is structure there is continuity there is reactions to things that happen in the episodes but it's also a bunch of crazy shit and a town where all the conspiracy theories are true The ordinary is extraordinary and the extraordinary is ordinary
I just finished listening to the first year of episodes because it's not really divided by seasons and I really love where this is going definitely going to keep listening
I especially love that literally from episode 1 Cecil has such a huge crush on Carlos freaking love it not to mention all the other characters and I know eventually that some of these characters will get voices so far there's only been one other voiced character but it will be interesting once some of them have voices besides Cecil
It's nice that it's still ongoing but also bad because it's going to take forever for me to catch up lol it's got like 200 something episodes currently out with more releasing every other week we'll see how fast I can catch up

Last night I fell asleep listening to Welcome to Night Vale, and had a dream that Cecil was repeatedly broadcasting the radio station's address with a message along the lines of "come to the Night Vale Community Radio station if you want an ass kicking." Talking about how he was feeling violent and he wanted to fight someone and didn't care who.
Every time anyone showed up he'd get scared, turn off the lights, hide under the desk, and pretend not to be there until they left. As soon as they were gone he went right back to it.

I will say, I saw a lot of people who had no idea who Cecil was, or who were indignant that someone who doesn’t even have a canon appearance could be “sexy”, and all I could think is we don’t need a face, flesh or bone, to find someone sexy.
Cecil was more than a voice. For so many people, he was their first voice. Someone who was like them who was not hidden, not silenced. He was a voice who loved who he wanted, without fear or shame. And who was still loved by his community. He faced off against a smiling god who burned away what it considered imperfect, challenged the station management in his own way, and cheerfully ignored what he wasn’t supposed to talk about and talked about it anyway.
A lot were confused why they weren’t finding the votes they expect for Sans, because he has a huge fanbase. And he does. But so many of those people were also people who discovered a voice from the desert, who wished us warnings and news, who taught us to understand the lights above the Arby’s, but also to accept we cannot know the partially stars but mostly void beyond them.
It makes me happy to see new people interested in Night Vale. Because for so many of us who voted, it was, truly, our first community radio that heard us as much as we heard it. Because Tumblr was not the other platforms that developed into the social media giants that exist today.
Tumblr was odd, strange. Too much so for a lot of people. And a lot of us saw that in Cecil. In Night Vale. In the dog park nobody can enter, and the house that does’t exist.
We don’t need a face for someone to be sexy on Tumblr. We need someone who hears us and speaks the strangeness that we all love.
Someone to say “Goodnight, Night Vale. Goodnight.”

We here at the Night Vale Community Radio station are proud in our ability to remain politically neutral in the face of strife, revolution, privately-funded watch programs and the occasional election. After all, we stand by our belief that the best news can only come from unbiased reporters and the occasional back-alley government bribe.

Night Vale Community Radio is sorry for any misinterpretation, misuse, or mishandling of our recent reporting, as it was never our intention to sway our listeners in such an ongoing political hot topic, and we fully encourage every citizen to make well-informed decisions in their day-to-day lives and local elections.
