"Three injuries in one game, must be a new record, eh?" The hockey star sounded far too happy given the circumstances, his nose swollen, hand taped up, and cheek stitched just under his eye, but despite his injuries he seemed in rather high spirits. "Wish we could've won, but goin' down in a shootout is one of the better ways to lose, I guess."

I would really like 5 for the prompt list for joe and nicky please! Though 15 seems like such a nickycore thing to do
5 - this marriage was supposed to be a scam but, but listen,
Joe gets as far as touching the pen to the paper before Nicky breaks.
'Don't--,' he gasps, stepping forward like he's going to physically make Joe stop. 'Please don't--'
'Nicky, what?'
It's the most emotion Joe's seen on Nicky's face in a year of being quietly, horribly married to him. There were days Nicky seemed barely even able to look at him, and now here he is. Almost in tears, a shaking hand half-raised in Joe's direction.
'Please don't sign it. Please.'
Joe drops the pen. There's the barest scuff of black ink above his name.
'What?' he asks again, feeling distinctly like the rug beneath his feet has just been pulled out from under him. 'Why shouldn't I? You don't even like me. We can both be free of each other.'
It hurts a little to say. He had wanted so badly for this marriage to work. For a moment, somewhere along the line, it had almost seemed like it would.
'It was a trick,' Nicky says, closing his eyes like the words hurt him. Joe's blood goes very slow and cold in his veins. 'It was all a sham. It-I-I'm sorry. Please, please believe me. I'm so sorry. Please don't sign that paper.'
'Explain.' Joe grinds out from between clenched teeth, nothing but gristle.
Nicky isn't reaching for him anymore. His hands shake so hard at his sides Joe can see the tremors from across the room.
'It was supposed to be my way out,' Nicky whispers. A tear slides down his cheek. 'I was supposed to suffer a terrible but politically advantageous marriage, and then my life would be mine to do with as I wished once the divorce was finalised.'
Joe grips the side of the desk, the whole last year of his life suddenly shifting to a different angle.
'Terrible?' he says, feeling the grind of the word in his throat. Nicky flinches.
'It turns out my family and I have very different definitions of the word,' Nicky says at last, opening his eyes just enough that Joe can see the shine of them in the firelight. 'You are amazing, Yusuf.'
It's Joe's turn to flinch, assaulted by the gentle memory of asking Nicky to call him by his given name, something only his family was allowed to do.
'You're amazing,' Nicky carries on, shaking his head and clenching his fists. 'And they-we exploited that. And I'm sorry. But, please,' his voice breaks, and more tears drip down his cheeks, 'please don't leave me.'

SO ANYWAY how can people possibly??? Say that Nicky is not as in love with Joe or not as vocal about his love for joe or anything like that!!?! “As much as I like watching you sleep” babes it’s right there!!! That line hints at so much familiarity, so much love and domesticity. The whole malta scene is just!!! So much history packed into one scene. “As much as I like watching you sleep” can you IMAGINE the COUNTLESS times eyebags McGee over here stayed awake, so taken by the love of his life that he just couldn’t sleep??? And that’s to say NITHING of the second half of that line “I’m glad your awake” like gosh. The RELIEF in his voice. This is a man who has always feared for the day his beloved does not wake. What a gentle and soft man this is. What a tender and beloved relationship they have. I’m going feral.
