11. Book you’ve read the most times

Gotta be honest, it‘s my favourite young adult book… The protag just finished high school, so it counts as adult, right XD As a teenager, I read this so often I had to buy a second copy, because the first one fell apart.

13. A book you would recommend to everyone

Because I have never really laughed out loud while reading except during this book. Carrie Fisher is hilarious and it never comes across as trying to hard.

the main reason why im so obsessed with the l4d characters is because they’re all realistic people. i feel like a lot of games/shows/movies/etc have their characters almost always so.. fake, almost. everyone is always conventionally attractive, their personalities very one dimensional, etc.

with the l4d characters you have a range of ages, backgrounds, personalities, and even though i personally find them all attractive in one way or another, they aren’t what you would consider conventionally attractive. they just feel like actual human beings with actual human being features and flaws and emotions.

nick and francis aren’t just assholes. they do care about the others. nick knows when to shut the fuck up, and francis is kind of dumb.

louis and ellis are very optimistic, kind, and caring, but yet they also can have attitude and be snarky.

coach and bill are older men that are just tired of the bullshit and overall strict, but yet are caring and have a sense of humor.

zoey is a traumatized person who is kind of broody, but she is also a dork and a bad ass!

rochelle is a bad bitch who isn’t afraid to speak her mind, but yet she’s also soft and awkward as well!

idk i just love how they don’t feel like characters that people came up with, they feel like real people :’)

rewatched nerdy prudes must die for the first time since the digital ticket premiere and i’ve been on a “thinking about the spankoffski brothers” kick recently and something sort of notable is that ted is never mentioned. pete mentions his dad in the present tense, (sells women’s shoes,) so he’s still around, mentions his mom in the past tense, (made him do tap as a kid,) so who knows if she’s still alive/in pete’s life, but ted isn’t mentioned once unless i missed something

but his connection to ted is still acknowledged, with the line richie says about how pete looks like the homeless guy, (which, ouch, thanks for that.) pete actively draws attention to his last name being spankoffski, and the nightmare time episodes that dropped before the release of npmd made it a point to show that pete is ted’s little brother and that he looks up to him. obviously there are some differences between the realities but not usually in who is related to who, or any major changes in how one person feels about another, so it’s safe to assume ted is still pete’s big brother, and that pete still cares about ted, making it a little weird that he never even mentions his brother

… unless ted is an sore subject in a way his parents aren’t, someone he’d rather not think or talk about. afaik, we don’t have any clue what age pete usually is when ted presumably goes “missing,” so i sort of wonder if this is a reality where ted has already “gone missing,” and the reason that ted is never mentioned despite ted’s last name being considered a “spoiler” and the material released before npmd going “PETE IS TED’S BABY BROTHER BTW AND PETE CARES ABOUT HIM” is because he’s already gone and pete’s like… mourning

gotta say, as a certified Nick Valentine Enjoyer (tm) who lives in IRL Boston, it's definitely a bit of a laugh every time I travel through park street station

I had just the book in mind, because I‘ve been seeing it everywhere recently, even though it‘s from 2015. So I took it out of my shelf and saw it‘s a different edition, thus a different cover :‘D I‘m still choosing it though, because the bad cover is being sold right now and I actually sorted out the ugly books I was not really attached to haha.

It reminds me of a photo some Instagram influencer would post while crying about the hardship of being rich and famous and calling it depression when they cried once to fish for sympathy. It looks staged and fake, like a clickbait Youtube thumbnail. Idk why I hate it so much, it just makes me wanna slap that person XD

one of the things i love about nellis is how it really doesn’t seem too unrealistic of a relationship

nick and ellis are what most people would consider your average men who would probably realistically be straight (obviously nick having an ex wife, ellis being attracted to zoey)

but as they travel deeper into the apocalypse they become closer, and this really doesn’t just apply to nick and ellis. all four survivors are people that most likely would not have anything to do with each other in normal everyday life. but here they are, a family now basically. nick even admits that the other three are the first people he has ever trusted in his entire life— and knowing nick’s character, that definitely means something.

so going back to him and ellis’ relationship, it isn’t entirely unrealistic that something could happen. when you’re in a literal end of the world scenario, all bets are off the table. anything and everything could happen.

it’s not too far fetched being straight and then all of a sudden questioning your sexuality, it happens quite literally all the time. so imagine trusting your literal life with someone every second of every day, building a genuine connection with them.. one day you might just be sitting there and the realization of feelings hit you, or you could have sudden sexual urges, etc. normal human emotions and functions right?

and this doesn’t just solely apply to nellis, any l4d ship could potentially work because of what i call the end of the world theory lmao. i love it because there’s just enough lore in the game and characters to have a proper foundation, but leaves it empty enough to where majority of headcanons and whatnot could probably work in canon, if that makes sense!
