#zeno's art #ocs #minty #soulstice circus #halloween #this piece was honestly SO MUCH FUN!!! there was a bit of turbulence but in the end i'm very proud of it #i've got values down well now so they weren't a big problem but halfway through i ended up changing a lot of the colors #because i wanted a more blue and pink look than purple and pink #but it worked out well #i also wanted to do a different angle which went nicely #in the end my favorite parts of the piece are his hair + stockings #as well as the cityscape (especially the streetlight which was added in spontaneously) and the pumpkitties!#this is also a redraw of a piece from around this time last year - i might post that in a seperate post as well #ok i'm writing all this on the 18th now - this should reach you on halloween night! #those poofy skirts are very effective at hiding their lack of hips #don't need leg game when you're in a floofy ballroom gown #i mean. it would be nice if yall had leg game. get some quads up in there. maybe even some thick calves . perchance #i need thick muscled olivine revealing his glass slippers from under his skirt #his legs are LORGE and he's wearing his pretty lil stockings and walking in his heels perfectly #he practiced a lot! and now he's an expert 😊 i'm proud of him #meanwhile i want dante to try heels before wobbling and ... well #depending on whether someone witnesses him wobbling his reaction may differ #if there are witnesses he will stubbornly swear to master the high heels. if no one sees....#maybe he'll just swap out for a functional pair of boots. like quincy. i'm torn about quincy #one half of me wants quincy wearing the ugliest dirtiest most worndown boots under his new spotless dress #the other half is like YOU'RE GOING TO COMMIT. YOU'RE GOING TO PUSH THOSE CALF MUSCLES TO THE LIMIT. STILETTOS ON ! MOUNTAIN MAN #at first i tried making everyone's hair match the original princesses they're cosplaying as (so everyone had much longer hair)#but when i got to blade . it just. didn't seem right #then i started sideeyeing everyone like :/ this aint no genderbending hours...#i want yall as YOURSELVES. unmodified (mostly). just. wearing the dress is all #so i went back and changed yakuoli's hair to be closer to their OG lengths #BUT thEN i sat there staring at quincy kuya and garu #bc. come on. quincy with aurora's flowing golden curly locks. he was made for it.#topper put the wig on him and he can't be bothered to take it off (long hair can act as a nice cushiony pillow 😁)#and kuya without the sassy ponytail?? well... i guess i can let him keep that since he CAN change his appearance at will #and if garu is dressed up as rapunzel... he HAS to have long hair... that's just the Point #OK so yall in the middle can have some long manes specially formulated for this special occasion.#there was already something brewing within me when tjhey announced the silhouettes #seeing yakumo in his 🧍‍♂️ pose and regular pants...#i was feelin preemptively robbed of pretty princess yakumo and the injustice was just casually simmering in my veins day by day #then idololivine's words spurred me into action with a clear vision #and here we are now.#at about the midway point i was yelling at eiden #EIDEN YOU HAVE TOO MANY WIVES. slowly, slowly, slowly learning how to bridge the gap in my teaching between overexplaining and underexplaining so I hit that exact sweet spot of getting the kids to the place where they’re interacting with a text that is absolutely over their heads and out of their leagues but their excitement, generated by me but sustained by them, and the right amount of scaffolding and explanation lifts them up to be able to meet it, enjoy it, learn from it, be affected by it.

#teaching tag #it is MAGIC when that happens #anyway i've been showing them macbeth this year instead of reading it because we don't have time to read it #and i've been severely in my head about the uselessness of it #and how it's not doing anything #but i had a good talk with another teacher about it and she was like 'no no! keep going!'#and then today we watched the malcolm and macduff scene and i could feel the room listening to the language #not quite understanding it but reaching out towards it #and it was SO. GOOD.#it helps that the guy who plays malcolm is young and cute #tbh i would never underestimate the importance of that #me choosing my shakespeare adaptations carefully so they get to look at someone young and beautiful enough for a period of time #anyway teaching has been just the absolute doldrums for a couple months now and this feels like a nice break and streak of light #like i just can't ever rule out the possibility that their hearts can be caught by something that we're reading #despite my common sense telling me not to put too much stock into their emotional reactions #because doing so would lead to my burnout and bitterness #because you can't force anyone to fall in love #but you can set the stage and clear the rubbish and lay the fire for lighting #and just wait for a spark to catch #anyway this tension between the orderliness and peace and box checking that i WANT to be a part of my room .....#and the moment of a student just suddenly being illuminated. inspired. in love !!!!!!!#i love it. i love it a lot!

What would you say your farm goals are rn? And do you still have eventual dog breeding goals?

Rn, getting the downsized herd settled and figuring out splitting the daily workload with my mom and such. We have no breeding plans this season, will probably look into a fainter cross buck next season for hardiness but I doubt I'll keep back many kids. There's a couple we are raising up rn from last season that i might sell to a friend who wants to start her own hobby herd this year.

My long term goals are still hearty and hardy animals who don't need too much medical intervention too often and who can kid easily, have good mothering skills, etc. Next generation I want better parasite resistance. But right now we are just figuring out how daily upkeep husbandry and maintenance is going to work going forward!

For dogs I don't have immediate plans bc all my dogs are spayed. I still co-own Mari, Dandelion, Pixie and Bao, so if any of them are bred I will have some input there. And if Mari is bred I will hopefully be able to spend some time with and help out with puppy raising!!! But, for now, no immediate plans myself :) getting things settled around the house and yard and in my own life/with my health before I think about dipping my toes back into dog breeding as a concept.

I am PROBABLY getting a goldador service prospect next year or the year after, out of a Lab I really like who is a working SD and a sweet golden who his handler thinks is a good match. And if that dog turns out nicely and passes health checks I might breed it. But that's so far in the future it doesn't make sense to make any actual plans around!

#a couple does may kid this winter and we will milk those for sure #i think Poe and Bae may be bred. but Hawthorne and Lovelace are getting a break this season #getting to re-know everyone now that we have less stock and can consolidate them in one big pasture.#a couple sheep are still here because mom essentially wants them as pets #and didnt want them to get sold for meat #so we are also working out a shearing schedule and such but not gojng to breed sheep anymore for now #if i get a better handle on my illness in the years to come i might try again #but rn? cant keep up with husbandry if we have that many. esp with shearing.#its so important to prioritize that imo SO YEAH #also mom and I are thinking about rearranging/overseeding some pastures #anyway!#the lab i want a pup from is Ace who some of you may remember sired the chinook outcross litter #his puppies have all matured really nicely and are similarly bombproof #so im optimistic a pup out of him would have that environmental stability that noodle struggles with :)#pixie is the only dog i co own who is an adult and her testing is almost finished so if she is bred next year Ill let yall know 😊#she just needs eye exam and some -- god what else... shes got basic genetic and hips and elbows done. i think she needs #a couple more collie specific genetic tests for stuff embark doesnt do
