arcana headcanons: halloween with the main 6
Happy spooky season! Halloween is the best holiday, change my mind. You could consider this a slight modern AU because of pop culture references but it could theoretically exist in the canon universe! Very mild references to blood/gore in the context of special effects/Halloween (no one is actually hurt but I don’t want to upset anyone!) :)
Asra:
He will make your costumes from scratch and incorporate Faust
Since Masquerade costumes are usually animal-themed, he’ll use Halloween as an opportunity to try something different
He thinks it’s funny to dress up as witches with pointy hats, black robes and broomsticks
Otherwise, his costume ideas are clever, coordinated but not matching, and very colorful
The two of you use magic to enhance the effects of your costumes--one year you dressed as flowers (Faust was a butterfly) and enchanted the costumes to smell like a garden
The costumes look homemade, but in a good way. The attention to detail and care that goes into the costumes is apparent and not something that is easily purchased
Julian:
The most invested in the Halloween Aesthetic, especially the campiness of the holiday. He appreciates gore done well but is rarely impressed (“Ugh that is not what exposed intestines look like”)
Will decorate your shop and his clinic while you’re asleep to surprise you but keeps things cutesy to not scare children
The two of you dress as iconic horror/Halloween movie duos--think Gomez and Morticia Addams, Jack Skellington and Sally, Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein
He will dress as either character, so if you’re uncomfortable with presenting as a woman he will gladly do so and do it flawlessly
The two of you won’t make the costumes yourselves, but you won’t just buy a pre-made one either. You’ll go shopping for separate components and make small modifications to make everything as accurate as possible
Obligatory “Julian plays Frank in a Rocky Horror shadowcast”
Nadia:
You know that when you and Nadia dress up together, you’ll have the most impeccable and stunning costumes in the room
She favors simple concepts but always chooses elegant themes for the two of you. She makes appearances at many different Halloween celebrations, so you have several costumes over the course of the holiday
Often bases costume ideas on her Prakran culture, drawing on the folklore she grew up with
As Countess, she doesn’t have time to create costumes but sends a tailor her ideas and as usual, spares no expense
The mechanical things she builds take on a spooky theme for the entire month of October. She makes little wind-up spiders, ghosts with light-up eyes and other creepy-cute decorations. She leaves them in strategic locations around the Palace and will signal you to activate them with magic, scaring the Courtiers (the spider caused Valerius to spill his wine) and livening up boring meetings
You once took her to a haunted house and she was Not Impressed…until the very end when someone popped out of nowhere and chased her with a chainsaw. For one glorious moment, you saw Nadia lose her composure
(side characters under the cut!)
Portia:
Just like her brother, LOVES Halloween. While Julian tends to prefer the campy, costumey aspects of the holiday, she loves the horror and gore
The two of you dress as zombies and other gross, creepy things, but it’s cute because she’ll introduce you as her zombie husband/wife/partner and make up a little backstory about how death and dismemberment couldn’t keep you two apart
You catch her asking Valdemar questions about anatomy for a costume. Valdemar is delighted, you are terrified
She is weirdly good at special-effects makeup, but you help make things a bit more realistic with magic. She is ecstatic when you perfect a blood-spurting effect and scare Julian with it
Expect to cuddle up with her most nights in October and watch horror movies/plays or read scary stories to each other. She’ll make you cocoa and burrow under a ton of blankets with you, comforting you during the jump scares. Even if you’re not scared, you’ll take the opportunity to get close
Muriel:
Although he hates crowds and dislikes (most) social interaction, he can appreciate the disguise element of the holiday
Since he lives off the land in the woods, his costumes are simple. This is despite you and Asra trying to coax him into something more intricate and special
You understand that because of his height and general size, it’s hard for him to blend in. So you are ultimately happy to let him choose something simple that doesn’t draw much attention
I have a very strong image in my mind of him as a sheet ghost. You join him, but insist on at least enchanting the sheet to flow spookily and sneak in a smoke effect to follow him around
The two of you never get any children trick-or-treating at the hut in the woods, so you set up in the shop on Halloween
You can’t help but smile as you watch how tenderly Muriel treats children: complimenting their costumes, pretending to be scared when they yell “BOO!” at him and sneaking extra pieces of candy into their hands. Next year, you need to buy double the supply of candy because your teddy bear of a partner is so generous
Lucio:
As we know, Lucio has questionable taste. I think he would dress in sorority girl costumes AKA something kind of basic and prefixed by “sexy”
He has 100% dressed as a sexy cat before. The costume was luxurious, with real fur and enough gems to make him sparkle with every movement. That doesn’t change the fact that he was a sexy cat.
He insists you don’t have to coordinate costumes with him but he loves it when you do (you can embrace it and be slutty too or let him be the exhibitionist)
Instead of doing themed couple’s costumes, you will basically wear the same thing in different color schemes--his in red and white, yours in your favorite colors
He hosts fabulous Halloween parties each year. His aesthetic actually suits Halloween quite well even if it’s slightly unconventional (rich reds, weird animal imagery, sharp gold claws, etc.)
Asra and Nadia show up to the party dressed as white goat ghosts and Lucio goes absolutely berserk. Unfortunately, that leaves you to do damage control, but he’ll be fine after a few glasses of the blood-red wine

Arcana Headcanons: M3 + MC Who Beats Everyone at Chess
Hello friends! The lovely @firefly-child posted about a fun game called Request Roulette. They post a prompt, and anyone who wants to is free to fill it. The first prompt is: “How would the main 6 react to MC beating like every person that’s goes against them in chess but at the end they whisper to the LI that they actually have no idea how to play chess and just kept moving pieces till they won” and also includes the lovely line “hehe move pieces around make brain go brrrrrrrr.” I just had to do this. I’m going for a bastard version of The Queen’s Gambit here.
Housekeeping stuff: This is just the main 3, although I have some ideas for the other characters and will be posting soon. I also wanted to break the posts up because despite this being incredibly silly, it still managed to be super long (oh well!). Also warning for some horniness in Julian’s, but nothing worse than what you see in game (couldn’t resist hehe). The good stuff is under the cut :)
Asra:
You and Asra don’t tend to play board games together, favoring card games that utilize his Tarot deck. So despite him knowing you so well, he doesn’t realize you have absolutely no clue how to play chess.
Asra learned to play during one of his many trips and it became one of his favorite ways to distract himself. Playing chess didn’t require the friendly camaraderie that other games do (something he couldn’t muster while mourning you or during your recovery) and gave him something to focus on other than you. He got surprisingly good over time. Though he never put any real time into studying strategies, he has an uncanny ability to figure out his opponent’s plan, always countering it perfectly.
So when the two of you join an informal tournament and you start doing really well (like, really well), Asra just can’t take it. He can hardly believe that you were hiding this skill from him for all these years. He’s looking at you with so much love in his heart and a goofy grin on his face.
When you take a break before the final game and beckon Asra over, he assumes you’re nervous. He peppers your face with kisses and leans over to give you words of encouragement, but you stop him. You instead whisper in his ear, telling him you’ve been just pushing pieces around randomly. He pulls back, a look of shock on his face. Then, he breaks out into peals of laughter.
Knowing your secret does not diminish Asra’s enjoyment of watching the final game at all. For a moment, he considers resting Faust on your shoulders and using her to communicate possible moves, but he decides to take a step back and let you work. He truly doesn’t care that you’re faking it, he’s in awe of you. His eyes even get a little misty when he thinks about how far you’ve come since the resurrection, the picture of cool confidence in front of the crowd.
When you win, he picks you up in his arms and spins you around. Sure, you may not be a secret chess genius, but it is just like the person he loves to manage to pull this off.
Nadia:
Nadia has been trained in a wide variety of strategy games and genuinely enjoys playing them. She occasionally studies chess strategies to keep her skills sharp. There’s nothing she enjoys more than the challenge of cracking a puzzle. It’s just like when she tinkers with mechanical projects: there’s always a “right” answer to each move her opponent makes, and she loves to figure it out.
She’s hosting a friendly competition with some fellow politicians and dignitaries in the salon. She encourages you to play a game, since it’ll look good for the Countess’ partner to be an active participant in the games.
She’s pleased to see you win your first game and continue to work your way up through the ranks. There’s pleasant chatter in the room while everyone compliments the Countess’ choice in partner. She’s proud of you, but her competitive edge is seeping in. She can’t believe that you hid your talent from her--she’s impressed, a little turned on by your chess prowess, and determined to take. you. down.
Soon, it becomes clear that you will need to go against Nadia. You’re shaking in your boots. You got this far against your other opponents, but you genuinely didn’t care about the outcomes of those games. All you wanted was to help Nadia host a good afternoon of friendly games. But now you’re in too deep. You need to put up a good display of strength against your wife, and ideally you would lose so Nadia can save face, but at this point you don’t even know how to move the pieces to get a certain outcome.
You and Nadia are seated across from each other and you are both trying to keep things friendly, but there’s a distinct undercurrent of tension in the room. You get first move as the reigning champion. Nadia takes a long moment, makes a deliberate move, then leans back and smirks at you. Uh oh, she’s feeling really competitive.
You go round for round, while you just move pieces based on your general whims. You can tell that Nadia is becoming slightly flustered, struggling to figure out your strategy. Finally, mercifully, Nadia pulls out a winning move. By now, the dignitaries have lost interest and the event naturally winds down after the game ends.
When you and Nadia are alone after the game, you know you have to tell her your secret. She detects the change in your mood and assumes you’re upset about losing. You turn to her, and the story spills out of you. You finish telling your story, breathless, and the two of you stare into each other’s eyes for a long moment before breaking out into laughter.
Julian:
Who brought a chess set to the Rowdy Raven? It looks so out of place in the tavern, where drunkards usually stick to playing cards and other simple games. The goal is usually to play as many rounds as quickly as possible to shuffle a few coins back and forth among the gamblers.
When Julian spots it, his eyes light up. He asks if you’d be willing to play a round against him, before a mysterious stranger walks up and claims the chessboard. They say that you’ll have to fight to use the chessboard. Julian’s already rolling up his sleeves, but you quickly realize that the stranger wants one of you to play them--if you win, you can borrow the board.
Emboldened by your drink, you push Julian away and sit across from the stranger. You know you’ve never played chess before, but how hard could it be? Turns out, not that hard. You just push a bunch of pieces around and soon, the stranger declares you the winner.
Julian swaggers up to the chessboard and sits across from you. Julian, the love of your life, who is so smart in so many ways, has also come to the same realization that you came to just moments ago. He has no idea how to play chess.
“Hey, MC, how about the winner gets to ask a favor, ~any~ favor of the loser?” He’s waggling his eyebrows at you just like he always does. He’s calculated his odds of winning, and they’re not good. But he figures that if he wins, he’ll ask you for a kiss, and if he loses, he’s sure that your creative mind will find some use for him.
You play against each other, each making more and more questionable moves. You don’t know much about chess, but you think he’s moving some of the pieces in the wrong configurations. But you worry that if you call him out, you’ll expose your utter lack of chess knowledge. He also thinks you’re doing some weird things with the pieces, but he has the exact same concern.
Neither of you are willing to back down and admit you don’t know what’s going on. You also don’t know how to end the game. It’s something with the Queen piece, but which one is even the Queen?
The two of you play against each other, getting progressively drunker as you sip on Salty Bitters. A tankard or two later, you crack. You tell Julian all about your stroke of luck against the stranger and his grin just gets wider and wider. He tries to play it off like he’s an actual chess genius and he knew what he was doing the whole time, but you call his bluff. Better get him home, because soon he’ll be begging to be punished for lying.

Arcana Headcanons: Infidelity + M6
I’m back with more headcanons, and will be sharing even more soon as I have more free time! My last batch was super sweet and fluffy, these are decidedly not. I’m doing these headcanons as character study exercises, and since the LIs are so devoted to you in-game, I wanted to think about what could possibly motivate them to cheat. Not all of these involve sex because I thought that certain characters would consider emotional interactions cheating on their partner. But warning for non-explicit sexual content for several of the M6--I’d say this is PG-13. These are kind of long, but I felt I needed some good exposition to set things up. I hate how much I enjoy angst :( Feedback and requests are always welcomed: if you hate it or love it, let me know why so I can improve! Plus, check out my Ao3 here, where I’ll be posting these as well.
Asra
Asra will never, ever regret giving up half his heart for you. But one night, he can’t sleep, feeling regret for the friendships and relationships he missed out on because it’s so difficult to form connections with others. He wishes that while he waited for you to recover from the resurrection, he’d been able to let others into his life.
He’s slept with people other than you (Julian, for one), but not since you woke up after the ritual. He realizes that he can’t remember any of his previous encounters. He completely forgot what anyone other than you feels like to hold and to touch.
The next day, he tells you that he wants to take a quick overnight trip to Nopal. With such late notice, you can’t tag along. He just wants to spend some time alone and actually get to know the villagers for once, intending to practice his social skills and break the cycle of isolation he unintentionally maintained with the people there.
When he sits around the fire, eating and sharing stories with the villagers, a handsome young man approaches him. He says that he’s always had a crush on the mysterious magician, but could tell that Asra was never open to getting to know anyone. Asra, remembering that he doesn’t know what it’s like to be close to someone else, starts flirting back. Before he knows it, his lips are brushing against the stranger’s.
The moment their lips meet, Asra pulls back sharply, overcome with guilt for betraying your trust. He shakily apologizes to the young man, saying he didn’t know what came over him. He runs back to his hut, gets on the Beast and travels back to Vesuvia as fast as possible. Faust comforts him as he sobs silently, thinking about never wanting to leave your arms again.
Nadia
Nadia is visiting a neighboring territory and sitting through a very, very boring dinner with dignitaries. She’s been away from Vesuvia for a week and anticipates having to stay for at least one more as negotiations drag on. She’s loath to admit it, but she’s lonely. The letters you’ve exchanged via Chandra only make the separation more painful.
So when a diplomat approaches her with questions about Vesuvia, she’s happy to have some company. She clearly admires Nadia quite a bit and compliments the work she’s done to turn Vesuvia around.
While basking in her companion’s kind words, she unconsciously moves closer to the other woman. It doesn’t take long for the conversation to become personal, moving away from professional networking. And even more quickly, the conversation becomes flirty. When Nadia moves her hand to touch the other woman, her intentions are clear. The diplomat is flattered, but hesitant, asking, “Aren’t you married?”
Nadia is momentarily stunned by the question, but refuses to lose her composure. The lie comes easily, from years of schmoozing fellow politicians. She replies that her marriage is open. The diplomat smiles, unaware of the shame pooling in Nadia’s core. She sheepishly invites the Countess back to her room.
Though the dinner is long over and the party moved into the sitting room for a digestif, many having already left, Nadia finds herself worried how it would look for the two of them to leave together. She hates herself for worrying more about appearances than you, but she’s been particularly hungry for the feel of a body next to her in bed and she’s frustrated at not being able to get what she wants for once. So, she agrees.
She excuses herself, saying that she must retire for the night, and waits a few moments for the diplomat to leave as well.
Nadia excuses herself after the shameful act, saying she must be in her own bed when servants come to wake her in the morning. She spends the rest of the night staring at her ceiling, vowing to never tell you about her indiscretion. You find out, of course, knowing your wife too well for her to hide that something’s wrong.
Julian
One night, he goes to the Rowdy Raven and is mid-tankard of Salty Bitters while animatedly telling the story of how he helped defeat the Devil. When he finishes weaving the tale, he heads back to the bar to another drink. Before he can get his coin purse to pay, an extremely attractive stranger tells Barth to put it on their tab--payment for the entertaining story.
Julian gratefully accepts, sliding into a seat to chat with the stranger. Whether consciously or unconsciously, Julian turns his charm up even more, wanting to make sure he keeps them entertained. They swap introductions, Julian’s natural tendency to call people affectionate names and his rakish attitude being interpreted as flirtation.
As the stranger returns the affection, Julian realizes what’s happening but doesn’t want to stop it. He’s practically glowing from the kind words flowing from the mouth of his new friend and is addicted to the feeling. A nagging voice tells him he should get back home to you, but it is quieted when the stranger moves closer to him, running a finger over his chest.
The stranger downs their drink and gets up abruptly. They tell Julian to finish his drink and meet them in the alley outside, with a cheeky comment about seeing what else his mouth could do thrown over their shoulder as they walk out the back of the tavern.
Julian’s breath catches at the thought of a clandestine alleyway quickie, and he can’t deny how appealing the idea seems to him. He stares at the drink remaining in his glass, fighting a mental war over whether to finish it quickly and run to the alley.
Barth approaches Julian, noticing he was about to finish his latest drink and anticipating a request for a refill. While waiting for Julian to finish, he makes light conversation with him. When he asks how you are doing, Julian bolts upright. His face reddens at the mention of your name, knowing he made a grave mistake even considering the stranger’s offer.
Julian leaves the rest of his drink untouched. He awkwardly gets up, says goodnight to Barth and hopes that he won’t run into the stranger when he exits the Raven out the front door. Mercifully, he doesn’t, but he might not have even noticed, he was so focused on getting back to you.
When he reaches the front door of the place you share, he’s sobbing. Even though it’s late, you are waiting up for him, knowing that he often needs you to offer him water and get him to eat some food after a night out. He falls on his knees before you, utterly broken by the kindness of you waiting to take care of him, and begs you to listen to him one last time. He tells you, again, that he is no good for you and it is inevitable he will break your heart. He confesses everything that happened at the bar, his voice breaking when he says how close he was to cheating on you. He admits in a small voice that he will never be worthy of you--despite all he’s changed, he’s always one step away from hurting you.
Lucio
Lucio is dressed in a new outfit, finely made and very flattering. He is about to attend a party at his estate in honor of the summer solstice. The last step in his pre-party ritual before joining you and making a grand entrance fashionably late is to admire himself in the mirror. He poses and struts in front of it, hyping himself up for the night, but stopping short as he notices a grey hair in his meticulously coiffed style.
Moving closer to the mirror, he is horrified that several other grey hairs have popped out since the last time he dyed his hair, not long ago. Stepping back, he frantically tries to change the style to hide them, shrieking as he realizes the wrinkles on his forehead are deeper than he remembers. The time-honored ritual, which has never failed to put him in the right mindset for a night of socialization, has only made him more self-conscious about his age than ever.
He starts pacing around his room, heels clicking and mind racing. He feels a strange sense of longing for his old life, when he had no responsibilities and never worried about the consequences of his actions. He’s old now, and he wishes for the freedom and stupidity of youth.
When he makes the grand entrance with you at the party, his heart isn’t really in it. He immediately heads for a servant, demanding a glass of hard liquor instead of his usual sparkling wine. One glass turns into several, and it’s not long before he’s very intoxicated. You see Lucio drinking more than usual, but you keep getting distracted by guests and can’t figure out what’s going on with him.
Once he’s drunk enough to not care about anything--just as he intended--he makes eye contact with an attractive woman in a slinky gown and winks. His rough flirting works, as the woman comes up to him. He feels a mixture of pride and shame that he’s still attractive and powerful enough to draw someone in with nothing more than a wink.
They chat briefly, but they both know Lucio desires more than conversation and the guest is more than willing to oblige. He takes the woman’s hand, leading her to an alcove far away from the party and they begin to make out. Soon his pants are at his ankles and they’re doing far more than kissing. It’s rough, messy and fast, exactly the thing he would have done in his life before he got the plague and before you.
The woman leaves him panting when they’ve both finished. His stomach drops as he realizes that this cheap attempt at feeling young again only made him feel worse. He realizes with a start that he jeopardized the thing that actually fulfills him and makes him truly happy.
Muriel
Muriel dislikes social interactions with pretty much everyone, especially strangers. How could he possibly cheat on you when he can hardly stand to spend time around his friends?
But as he becomes more comfortable with being around people, he starts spending time around the Palace. Usually, he’s waiting for you to finish your duties with Nadia so he can walk you home or go back to the shop for dinner, but sometimes he comes early so he can spend a quiet moment in the gardens.
The more time he spends at the Palace, befriending some of Lucio’s poorly-behaved albino animals and trying to train them, the more time he spends with a certain servant determined to befriend him.
At first, they don’t even catch his attention, he’s so used to tuning other people out. But this servant notices his gentle nature and sometimes brings him some water or tea and a pastry while he’s sitting by the fountain. They claim that they’ve been trained to always serve the needs of their guests, but they’re mostly interested in getting Muriel to open up.
After several weeks of Muriel becoming used to the servant and accepting that they can be trusted, he begins exchanging a few words with them beyond a grunted thanks for the refreshments. The way the servant approaches him reminds him of you and he finds he doesn’t mind light conversation to entertain him and distract him from Lucio’s pets.
One day, he realizes with a start that he not only trusts the servant and enjoys their company, but that he finds them attractive. He panics, not knowing how to tell you. He feels so ashamed of himself for letting someone new in and he’s never felt attracted to someone like this before, other than with you. He’s confused on how to handle his feelings and how he should tell you, if at all.
He confesses the situation to Asra before going to you. Asra is very kind and supportive, saying that it is natural to find other people attractive and that it’s a good sign that he is willing to let a stranger befriend him. But Muriel can’t shake the idea that he’s done wrong by you and refuses to come back to the gardens.
Portia
Given how much Portia likes secrets and romance stories, I think a part of her would love the idea of a sneaky romance. Portia is a deeply practical person, but there are times where she can get carried away with romanticism. The thrill of getting away with it and using her knowledge of the secret passages in the Palace, etc. to hide a tryst holds some appeal to her, but she’d feel ashamed of even fantasizing about it.
She has to work on the first night of the Masquerade after the events of the game due to her new responsibilities at the Palace. Out of solidarity, you work too, creating real-time magical spectacles to surprise guests. To keep up the aesthetic, you’re both still wearing costumes and masks.
While Portia is in the ballroom, she’s fretting over the floral displays and a heavily intoxicated person knocks into her, sending the vase flying. Before Portia can even react, she falls into strong arms, rescuing her from the splashing water and strewn flowers. She turns to thank the stranger, and they say she can express her gratitude by granting them a dance. In the spirit of the Masquerade, she accepts.
She and the stranger twirl around the dance floor to a fast-paced song. The stranger is a fantastic dancer and leads Portia through the steps flawlessly. They end the song by dipping her low. The music switches to a slow ballad while the lights dim. Still breathless, the stranger pulls Portia close, and she loses herself in the moment. The ambiance is incredible, and kissing a gorgeous masked stranger at a ball could not be more storybook-perfect. Their lips touch, until a swirl of magical energy brushes her and she remembers you. She steps back from the stranger and runs off, forgetting about her duties, the flowers on the ground and the rest of the Masquerade. She feels horrible about kissing someone other than you but can’t shake the smug pleasure deep inside her that loves her fairytale romance coming to life.

Portia for the ask!
Thank you! Love my Pasha ❤️ Based on this ask game.
Realistic: Portia and Muriel develop a kinship. He likes going to her cottage for tea since it's out of the way and he doesn't have to see too many people. He always brings her fresh eggs and she sends him home with bread and fruit from her garden. He also brings runes to prevent Camio from getting into her plants. They swap gardening tips too! It's easier for Muriel to warm up to Portia since she hasn't been in Vesuvia as long as everyone else. She doesn't associate him with his Scourge days or think he's scary. He can be himself around her.
Less realistic, but hilarious: wears cat ears around the house and only speaks in meows just to annoy you. "Portia are you ready for dinner" "Meow" "Portiaaaaa answer me" *long pause for effect* "Meow!"
Angsty: has nightmares about seeing Julian hanged and you dead, leaving her all alone in the world. It's helpful when she wakes up already in your arms but the memory of the people she loves dying stays with her throughout the day. One time you woke up before her (which is rare, she's usually up early) and she panicked when the bed was empty next to her. You encouraged her to take the day off after such a terrible scare.
Completely non canon: as much as I love uwu cottagecore wifey Portia, I think it would be really fun to lean into some dark stuff with her. I imagine her being a quasi-yandere type with her love of secrets and her protectiveness. One day, she's at work and she hears someone badmouth Julian, saying they still believe he killed Lucio and that he must have been in cahoots with Nadia. Or, she hears someone try to hit on you. Luckily, she knows exactly how to handle it. Slowly over the next week, she starts to spread little seeds of a nasty rumor about the person. A little while later, the rumors are widespread and the person is fired in shame. She can fight physically, but it's more fun to slowly poison and really ruin someone. To go even further, she would be really good at keeping secrets from you and I could see the relationship go really toxic if it isn't handled in a healthy way. Also consider devil Nadia and Portia is her pet..............mark me down as scared and horny

Asra for the ask game please :)
Hello anon, thank you for asking! I'm sorry this took a while to get to. Work has been a bit busier than usual and I'm too much of a perfectionist to do things quickly haha. Based on this ask game here, which I'll happily continue to do if people are interested.
Realistic: There’s a line in one of the routes that mentions snake sweaters which I choose to interpret as evidence that Asra knits or crochets for fun. He will make sweaters or scarves for all of the familiars. Pepi loves her sweater while Inanna tolerates hers. Good luck getting a scarf on Malak, but Chandra will pose so elegantly in hers (she knows she will get treats if she behaves). Asra might make doggie clothes as a gesture of goodwill when the apprentice is dating Lucio. Mercedes and Melchior would definitely wear matching sweaters, but hopefully they are in red/gold. Asra also made some of the blankets strewn throughout the shop. They carry a hint of his magic, always keeping you at the perfect temperature and helping you imagine that you’re cuddled up with him while he’s away.
Less realistic, but hilarious: Stoner Asra is basically canon at this point. He also definitely does psychedelics, either while traveling or in his gate. You cannot convince me that the neon beach wasn’t based on an experience he had while tripping or that it wouldn’t be an ideal location to get high and listen to the Vesuvian equivalent of Pink Floyd. Please, please, please be careful when cooking because there’s some dried mushrooms that make a delicious broth and some dried mushrooms that make you actually have a fruitful and clear conversation with the Magician, whose message you will promptly forget.
Angsty: (Apologies in advance because this doesn’t work with all OCs!) When the apprentice is recovering from their resurrection, especially in the beginning, they need Asra to help them bathe. While it may be easier for Asra to crop their apprentice’s hair short to make it easier to wash and maintain, he cannot bring himself to do it. He doesn’t like the idea of changing something about the apprentice’s identity while they’re still trying to figure out who they are. No matter what, he lovingly and tenderly washes their hair, massaging in oils and conditioners. If the apprentice is a POC/Black and has natural hair and he doesn’t already know how they care for it properly, he will learn. He will carefully spend hours putting their hair into protective styles, decorating their braids or locs with handmade filigree cuffs. Perhaps when the apprentice recovers more, they will want to change up their hairstyle, and Asra will absolutely support their decision to assert control over their identity. But until then, he will painstakingly maintain his apprentice’s hair like it was before they died to maintain a sense of comfort and familiarity in a confusing situation.
Completely non canon (but should be ngl): I am so obsessed with the platonic relationship between Asra and the apprentice. I truly believe that nothing can come between the connection that they share and I also resent the idea that the only meaningful relationship they can have is romantic. I feel that no matter who the apprentice chooses, they will always prioritize maintaining a friendship with Asra. Weekly lunches and regular sleepovers—no significant others allowed—are mandatory. Just imagine a scene out of an early-2000s girly movie where the apprentice and Asra are lounging on a bed surrounded by pillows and with an open box of chocolate truffles. Asra is on his belly, twirling a lock of hair around his finger and gossiping. (“So do you like Nadia or do you like-like her?”) I really feel that as long as the apprentice is happy, Asra is thrilled for them. He may have concerns initially but he knows to trust his friend.

Arcana Headcanons: Engagement/Marriage with the Main 6
Recently made an Ao3 account and want to start posting headcanons as a way of becoming more comfortable writing fiction. Here’s my first attempt! Requests and feedback are always welcome. This first round is of proposals, engagements and marriage with the main 6. Personally I don’t even like the idea of marriage but I am so whipped for these characters I can’t help but imagine them proposing and everything ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Hope you enjoy this as much as I liked writing it!
Asra:
Wanted to marry you since the beginning, knew you were the one shortly after meeting you
Was going to propose when you ran away from the plague with him, part of the reason he was so devastated when you chose to stay behind
Became obsessive over not missing his chance again
While packing on the night of the resurrection ritual, he made sure to have the ring ready for when you woke up but quickly realized you couldn’t walk, talk or remember anything about your past so he had to wait
He was so excited to finally ask you to marry him when you defeated the devil together
The only thing that felt better than asking was when you said yes
The two of you get married (legally) ASAP, figuring Asra has waited long enough. Once the paperwork is set, you work on planning a celebration with friends
Julian:
Loves you more than anything and wants to make it official but has trouble overcoming his doubts that you want the same thing (even after you talked about it!)
He confides in Portia, who scolds him for not believing in your relationship and decides to help him plan the perfect proposal
Little does he know, you suspect Julian’s insecurities are holding him back and plan to just propose to him yourself
You also confide in Portia, asking her for advice too, who is waiting eagerly to see how this plays out
One day, during an afternoon tea at the Palace, Julian gets down on one knee, only to see you laugh. Poor thing has nearly has a heart attack until you reach into your own pocket to find the ring you bought him. You apologize for scaring him and exchange rings
After you get married, you have a long honeymoon traveling the world, getting into trouble and barely keeping your hands off each other
Nadia
Has a super cute canon proposal
The two of you decide to have a long engagement while rebuilding Vesuvia
It’s partially so the public can get used to the two of you and partially since you both prioritize the city’s needs over your personal desire to tie the knot
As long as the two of you are together in any form, you’re happy
You time your wedding to happen at the start of the following Masquerade so the rest of the event is a celebration of the Countess’ marriage
The wedding symbolizes Nadia’s commitment to major changes in Vesuvia, including a partner who is kind and dedicated to the well-being of the city instead of a certain goat…
You attend the first night of the Masquerade to party after the wedding and then decide you’ve done enough for Vesuvia and lock yourselves in Nadia’s room for a honeymoon~
Lucio
The two of you are traveling together and have a few drinks at the tavern you’re staying near
A few drinks turn into many, and you two wake up in the morning with pounding headaches and wedding bands on your fingers
You decide that you’ve wanted to marry each other for a long time and are glad things worked out like they did
In a surprising display of maturity, Lucio says that he is glad you didn’t have a big party and wants to just have a small celebration when you get back home
Lucio no longer needs massive shows of wealth to compensate for his insecurities and as a display of power. He knows you love him and doesn’t need anything else. However, he wants to commission several topiaries depicting your love story, dress you both in the most luxurious and ostentatious outfits possible, and involve swans, magic and fireworks into his vows
Portia
Portia also has an adorable canon proposal, and you can choose to elope onboard
Still, throughout your travels, Portia proposes to you loudly and publicly at each new city. You’re confused the first time, but know from the twinkle in her eye that it’s time to go into “partners-in-crime” mode so you play along
These displays get you free food at restaurants, upgraded rooms when staying on land and special souvenirs. Your wife is an evil genius.
Each time Portia proposes again, it gets harder and harder to keep from laughing but you are determined to keep it together
You arrive back in Vesuvia laden with gifts and stories of special privileges, teasing Julian relentlessly as he tries to guess how you got so many things for free (“I guess I’m just a better pirate than you are, Ilya!”)
Portia finally reveals that you two are married and he nearly faints in happiness
Your final con is when Nadia insists on having another ceremony at the Palace for you since you poor things got married on a boat
Muriel
You and Muriel are more than content to not get married—you don’t really need it when you live in a hut in the woods with chickens for neighbors…
But after one of your trips to the South, you find more artifacts and tapestries depicting Muriel’s culture’s marriage traditions
Though neither of you want a huge celebration, you decide you’re both ready for a new aspect to your relationship and agree that if you incorporate Southern traditions into a ceremony, it would help Muriel feel more connected to his culture
When Nadia finds about the ceremony, she insists on helping you source the needed materials and offers to host at the Palace
With the Palace’s resources (and coin), you have a beautiful ceremony that reflects Muriel’s heritage and the future you plan on having together

welcome!
hello everyone, I’m nic and thanks for visiting! my former username was @urgonnacarrythatweight! I mostly post about the arcana here, but you’ll also see quite a bit of anime and other tv like twin peaks, plus anything else that tickles my fancy.
I dabble in writing headcanons for the arcana, and am always willing to take requests! I tag my headcanon posts as #nic arcana headcanons. I just ask that you keep things pg-13, or roughly the same spice level as the game.
speaking of nsfw, I am over 18 but I want this blog to be accessible for all. nothing I post will be intensely nsfw unless the content is under a cut. if you are under 18, out of respect for me and the original creator, do not click through or like/reblog.
finally, if anyone is in need of a beta reader for their writing, please reach out! I worked as a writing tutor for two and a half years during college and I was not only trained in spelling/grammar/other mechanics, but bigger-picture things like structure, ensuring your point comes across well and how to approach the writing process. I also have a publication :) send me an ask or chat if you have anything you want to review, it's actually really fun for me!
enjoy your stay!
