Headcanons for Akashi getting scared?
I am back to indulge in my chronic Akashi brainrot. Please forgive me for the dissertation I'm about to drop on your timeline.
Now, first of all, we must establish that canonically (or at the very least, to my knowledge) Akashi has no phobias. BUT ☝🏿 I think that even with zero phobias, you can still get startled by things. So I'll just be talking about that.
Similar to my sleeping headcanons where I said it's probably very difficult to catch Akashi sleeping, it's probably equally, if not more, as difficult to startle him.
Since he's a very perceptive person and is always observing others whether they're aware of it or not, I would think it's pretty hard to startle someone who's always watching you. Because of this, there are only two scenarios in which I would think he'd ever be startled by something/somebody.
1: if he's really, really, REALLY focused on something. This is based on an NG-shuu from season 1 of the anime, where Akashi is playing shogi by himself and Midorima is trying to talk to him, but he's so focused on his game that he's not listening to half the things that Midorima says to him. NG-shuus are not canon events, I know, but it does give you a glimpse into how certain characters might act if a scenario played out differently. That's why Akashi pegs me as the type to focus on something so hard that he stops caring about his surroundings and focuses solely on whatever is in front of him, therefore making it easier to startle him in that state.
2: if he's let his guard down. This may sound similar to the first scenario but let me elaborate. If I were to make an analogy, scenario 1 is like sneaking up on a predator when the predator is sneaking up on something else; scenario 2 is like sneaking up on a predator while they're relaxing and not on high alert. Startling Akashi in scenario 2 would be possible simply because he feels safe enough to not be as observant of his surroundings. But since he almost always has his guard up, to startle him in this way would be a once-in-a-blue-moon opportunity.
I've discussed the scenarios in which it would be possible to startle Akashi, but let's address the elephant in the room: what would actually startle this boy?
Loud noises would be one of them, I think. If he's immersed in something or is relaxed enough and not expecting it, I think a loud noise would definitely startle him and raise his heckles. Think back to Kuroko's very first game during middle school when Akashi was caught off guard by the sound of Kuroko tripping over himself and falling. That's a milder example since Kuroko falling probably wasn't even that loud, but I would like to think that the louder the sound, the more startled he would be.
The second thing would be people touching him suddenly. Again, he's seen as a very high and mighty intimidating person. One does not simply touch Akashi Seijuro. Most physical contact he has with others is in the form of high-fives and fist-bumps. The other type of contact is the occasional hand on the shoulder from the Uncrowned Kings in his team, and even then it's mostly from Mibuchi. The times he's most surprised (at least while he's his original self) is when someone touches him when his guard is down and he doesn't have time to react.
The most prominent example of this is in season 3 volume 5 of the drama CDs when Nijimura invites him along to go get a meat bun from the convenience store. When he finds out that Akashi has never gone out to buy food on the way home, he decides to initiate Akashi into those types of things. It's only an audio CD so I can't see what's happening, but it sounded like Nijimura grabbed him--maybe by the arm, or maybe he swung an arm around Akashi's shoulder--and just pulled him along to the door. The moment Nijimura grabs him, Akashi sounds audibly surprised. His voice even gets higher in pitch when he tries to (weakly) protest that he wasn't even that hungry anyway. This probably comes from the fact that he doesn't engage in a lot of physical contact with his friends, so when something past a high-five or a hand on the shoulder occurs he's like ⁉️ for a quick sec, especially if he's being manhandled like I assumed Nijimura to be doing in the drama CD.
And, let's say that through some miracle, Akashi is actually startled by something/someone. What would he look like when he's startled? Well, for reference, what did he look like when Kuroko tripped and fell during a game?
As you can see, this boy looks like a literal cat when he's surprised or startled. He just has this very owlish expression with the way his eyes widen and his mouth is slightly open, which makes him look so adorable.
Going off of this, I would for sure think that he looks pretty similar to this when he gets startled. But when he startles, I don't think he would make any noise. Akashi and Aomine would probably be on opposite sides of the spectrum, in that regard. Akashi would probably be someone who would jolt a bit or even flinch if you've REALLY caught him at a bad time, but scream? Never. Over his dead body, in fact.
And the last part of this: if he startles around other people, how would they react to seeing his startled face?
I would think the first few times it happens, none of his friends (both in Teiko and Rakuzan) wants to mention it because they don't want to face Akashi's wrath in case he doesn't want the others to notice. But over time, especially post-Winter Cup, Akashi is more open and also more easygoing, so his friends feel more comfortable acknowledging it, whether it's apologizing for startling him or even lightly teasing him about it.
And, like I said, he canonically has no phobias, but that doesn't mean his friends haven't tried to see if he did. They prodded him about multiple things like ghosts (doesn't believe in them), roller coaster rides (he doesn't mind them but he doesn't go out of his way to ride them), bugs (he's not afraid of them but he does find them to be distinctly gross-looking), and even the dark (not being able to see isn't scary to him, just massively inconvenient), but he really doesn't have anything, in particular, that he's afraid of.
So to see him startled by anything is, once again, pretty rare. Not many situations in which you can catch this boy lacking. But when he is startled, it's almost refreshing to see. It makes him actually look his age since he's always so serious and pensive. His friends find it interesting to see more of Akashi's various expressions all across the emotional spectrum and secretly hope he shows more of himself as time passes.

five years ago, sinet-up kayo ng mutual friend niyo ni jaehyun sa isang blind date. he made it extra clear that he was a single father of a 2-year-old boy at humingi pa ng pasensya kung hindi pa niya kayang mag-commit ng seryoso dahil bukod sa trabaho, inaasikaso rin niya ang anak niya. pareho lang kayo ni jaehyun na nung una, ayaw mag-commit, pero nag-bago ang takbo ng buhay ni jaehyun nang makilala ka niya lalo— isang doktor na paboritong paborito ang mga bata dahil madalas kang mag-volunteer sa mga outreach programs. medyo nag-aalala ka nung una dahil dalawang taon na ang bata at madalas pang pumunta ito sa nanay niya dahil sa kustodiyang pinagkasunduan ng dating mag-asawa. nag-aalala ka dahil baka hindi ka magustuhan ng bata at baka gusto pa nitong magkabalikan ang mga magulang niya. what were you thinking? wala pang ka-malay malay ang bata noon sa mga nangyayari, at palaging sinisigurado ni jaehyun sa’yo na hinding hindi na sila magkakabalikan ng dati niyang asawa.
nung naging 5 years old ang anak niya, nawalan ng karapatan ang nanay niyang magkaroon ng kustodiya sa kanya dahil sa mga sumbong na ginagawa ng bata sa kanyang ama. tatlong taon na kayo ni jaehyun nung narinig mong nag-uusap ang mag-ama sa sala at puro iyak ang bata dahil sa mga ginagawa ng partner ng nanay niya sa kanya. jason was aloof of you hanggang sa nag-five years old siya, kung anu-ano kasing tinatanim ng nanay niya sa utak ng bata. but that was the night that you held jason in your arms na parang anak mo siya, na parang sa’yo nakahanap ng comfort ang bata imbis sa tunay niyang ina. by this time, engaged na rin kayo ni jaehyun at nagbabalak na magpakasal but your plans were all pushed back nung sinabi mong sa west na lang kayo magpakasal para mas tipid at maampon mo ang bata ng legal.
mabilis kang tinanggap ni jason, nakapag-adjust na ang bata sa’yo at madalas ikaw na ang hinahanap at hindi na ang tatay niya. walang pasok si jaehyun ngayon dahil kakauwi lang niya galing singapore para sa isang business trip tapos ikaw naman, half-day lang ang clinic hours mo kaya pwedeng pwede niyong sunduin ang anak niyong dalawa sa school. 10 minutes lang ang layo ng school niya sa ospital, madalas ikaw ang naghahatid at nagsusundo sa bata dahil bukod sa madaaanan mo ang eskwelahan ng bata, saktong sakto na tapos ng duty mo sa ospital ang tapos ng klase nito. weekend bukas at naisipan ni jaehyun na ipasyal kayong dalawa sa mall.
“kapag ako ang nag-sundo kay jason, sa tingin mo anong mangyayari?” tanong ni jaehyun sa’yo habang nags-seatbelt. “favorite ka na niya eh, ayaw na ata niya sakin.”
pinalo mo ang braso niya at tumawa kayo pareho, “baliw ka,” sabi mo, “walang favorite ‘yung anak natin, tsaka hindi naman ‘to kompetisyon ‘no!”
tumawa na lang si jaehyun sa sagot mo at nagsimulang magmaneho papuntang school. habang nagmamaneho si jaehyun, ikaw naman ay nagsasagot ng mga emails galing sa presidente ng ospital niyo para sa isang surgery na ihahandle mo sa susunod na araw. hindi mo namalayang nakarating na kayo sa school at nakapag-park na ang asawa mo. “ako na lang magsusundo sa kanya sa pick-up,” he offered, removing his seatbelt bago magtanim ng halik sa pisngi mo. bumaba si jaehyun sa kotse niya at talagang gusto niyang patunayan na ikaw ang paborito ng anak niyo at hindi siya, “mahal, tago ka sa backseat” sabi nito, agad namang nawala ang atensyon mo sa cellphone mo at tinignan siya. “dali, ipaprank lang natin si jason”
“jaehyun, sasapakin kita”
“dali na! minsan lang eh”
“paano pag umiyak? tarantado ka, kung anu-ano gusto mong gawin sa anak natin”
“minsan lang eh” tawa nito, “dali na, tingnan lang natin kung anong magiging reaction niya”
“hay nako, kung hindi lang talaga kita mahal, baka matagal na kitang nasapak”
he lets out a satisfied smile when you got out of his suv and moved to the trunk. ilang minuto ang lumipas at nakahiga ka dito, tinakpan mo pa ang sarili mo ng isang kumot na iniiwan niyo ni jaehyun sa kotse para sa anak niyo dahil madalas itong natutulog sa mga byahe niyo. sa kabilang banda, si jaehyun naman ay naghihintay sa pick-up area ng mga grade 2 students, ilang minuto siyang naghintay bago lumabas ang anak niya. ngiting-ngiti ang ama ng bata, nakalabas ang dimples nito at nakabuka ang mga braso na parang naghihintay ng yakap. mukhang dismayado ang bata, pero yumakap pa rin siya sa tatay niya.
“mommy?” tanong nito at binigay ang bag sa tatay niya, “asan po si mommy?”
“nasa work pa si mommy, si daddy muna magsusundo sa’yo” sagot ni jaehyun, nagpaalam siya sa guro ng bata at hinawakan ang kamay nito para makabalik sa parking kung nasaan ka.
“wala talaga si mommy?”
though jaehyun feels bad about lying to his son, gustong gusto niya talagang patunayan sa’yo na ikaw ang paborito kaya vinevideohan niya ang bata ngayon. “wala anak, tomorrow pa uuwi si mommy” sabi nito, “tara na, sabi ni mommy mo, bibili tayo ng toys mo sa mall. nagbigay ng money si mommy for that,”
tumigil ang bata sa harap ng sasakyan at biglang umupo sa semento, tila hindi matanggap na si jaehyun ang sumundo at hindi ikaw. biglang bumuhos ang mga luha ng bata at patuloy kang tinatawag. “mommy! i want mommy! daddy, puntahan natin si mommy!” iyak ng bata, rinig na rinig mo ang pag-iyak niya and it breaks your heart na ganitong prank ang gustong gawin ng asawa mo sa anak niyo. “daddy, mommy!! saan si mommy!!”

nerf gun ang kahinaan ng anak niyo, may collection silang mag-ama sa loob ng playroom niya kaya naman kapag nagtatampo si jason, binibilhan ni jaehyun ito ng nerf gun. magastos pero effective na makuha niya ulit ang puso ng anak niya. “okay… sorry daddy” nahihiyang sabi ng bata.
“hug daddy na”
yumakap ang bata kay jaehyun kaya binuhat niya ito, ilang linggo rin niyang hindi nayakap ang anak tapos ang salubong pa niya ay pagpapaiyak dito. “sabi sa’yo, mahal eh” sabi ni jaehyun, “sundan na kasi natin si jason para ako naman ang favorite”

oops. maint hit during a pse burst bc i forgot. oh well! one of these days i'll actually pay attention to what's going on.
reminds me... sometimes i worry. i know there's no wrong way to play the game but that doesn't mean i stop being self-conscious. personal rambling under the cut.
tbh i don't really play the game to play the game really. i play bc it's fun to mess around and i don't feel like it's a waste of time, like a singleplayer game would be for me.
i Can play the game properly if i want-- i play enough to have a head start whenever (if ever) i get serious about it. that's why it's not a waste of time to me, i think.
however.
i've always been overleveled bc i'm not really interested in having to overcome challenges. i just want to have fun, and difficult content isn't fun for me. i'd rather do something else if i can't do something i feel like doing right away... if i don't want to work up to it then i don't really care to try again.
but if i don't want to get good at the game, being a part of a community will be way out of reach. and if i'm not in one, it feels like a waste of time, just like a singleplayer would.
that's also why it's a little overwhelming to talk to other players about it. too tired of being seen like an idiot that doesn't know anything, you know? and that's what always happens when i start talking to other people about a thing i'm new to.
sometimes i try to share something and i get "But this is already--" or "This is a thing tho--" and it's like. please let me have my fun and look away if you don't want to see my WIP ideas.
(this is part of the reason why i've been avoiding talking on discord lately.)
i'm just going to burn out and do something else if i try to absorb the franchise/game all at once like a college course... but until i do i'm just gonna look like an idiot. as usual. it's kinda lose-lose if i try to talk to people before i know what i'm talking about.
i just talk to myself on this tumblr instead. is it lonely? yes. do i have a choice? doesn't feel like it.

i really just want to liveblog ideas instead of just reactions. i have no issue making new ideas, developing old ones, changing them up or throwing them away when canon says otherwise. that's just how i enjoy doing things.
really... i just prefer to be creative with what i have in front of me. i don't think people would understand that.
honestly... i only want to do things in ngs. but it's like everything is tied to the massive story/lore of the base game... which everyone has so much nostalgia about and seems to know like the back of their hand...
... so i'm doomed unless i want to watch 24+ hours of someone on youtube play it (and i don't really want to, especially if their characters don't visually fit in the setting.)
the wiki and lore/summary videos have been great too, but. there's only so much those can do.
even then, i can't absorb things very well just by hearing them either. but these are video games. i doubt if people generally care to write transcripts either... so i'm just. doomed lmao.

One of my favorite au ideas is ng+ but the first one is the original and the ng+ one is royal
Yes!!! I love that au too tbh I have a lot of brainrot about it. One thing in particular I've thought about is how Akira is a lot more active about hanging out with Akechi in Royal, you have to accept his invites and choose to spend time with him to rank up unlike in vanilla where it's all automatic, and that makes me think about maybe on the first loop Akira wasn't particularly interested in getting to know Akechi until it was too late, and he's already dead. It's only then that Akira realizes how much he actually cared for him, and he tortures himself with guilt for not doing enough to save Akechi. Akira becomes obsessed with him even as the world around him slowly forgets his exisentce.
And then, he's given a second chance, and he takes it and runs with it. On his second loop he does everything he can to get Akechi to open up, hoping maybe this time things will turn out differently. Except of course they don't, Akechi still dies, Akira can't save him no matter how hard he tries. If only he'd tried harder from the start, then maybe things could have been different. But Akechi's dead, Akira wasted his second chance, there's nothing he can do and it's all his fault. Only then, Akechi appears on Christmas Eve. This didn't happen last time! Maybe Akira succeeded. Maybe he did do enough after all, maybe he and Akechi can be together after all, maybe it'll all be okay.
And then 2/2 happens, and Akira realizes--no. No matter what he does, no matter how hard he tries, no matter how many times he lives out this year, Akechi will always die.

i almost finished 5.3 last night. just have to go through the trial and maybe 4 more quests after the end of the norvrandt arc. this patch was so good. SO GOOD. i had so many answers but i still have so many questions and most of them concerning azem of course. also sh + 5.3 did so much in helping figure out pernille's voice and attitude.
after 5.3 just 20 somehting quests and it's endwalker time
if i'm done with endwalker and the patches before dawntrail (doubt it... unless endwalker really do brainrots me like i was promised), i might do the ng+ and start seriously fleshing out pernille and her journey

[Oc] Kim brainrots. He's been in my mind for a while. Before reading this, there are a few mentions of blood, cuts and such that might make u uncomfortable.
Kim may be the son of Argus but he didnt get most of his dad's powers. Its like Suho but its kim.
Unlike normal healing, usually healing is just for the skin or the wound to get healed, serious or not. When Kim heals, its like the monarchs, they heal instantly.
For Kim's state, it heals from bones, muscle, hyperdermis (fats), dermis to hypermis. Well that part of healing will work if any of his limbs got chopped or something. But it'd be the same thing for getting stabbed, his blood will not just dry out but will go back to the body and get healed in no time :D
Parang same as well to Charlotte's and Morana but the others are a bit diff.
Aside of healing, I thought of an idea about kim visiting diff worlds. Now Im not talking about different worlds from the same universe. Its just diff world with diff universe.
Kim is horrified and annoyed of this so called "fathers" mistreating their daughters and adopted ones in those historical manhwas. Same goes for husbands too 😭😭 . Since he, himself, is a father of his (adopted) daughter and a loving husband (sana) to Charli.
Ever since the little girl grew either 6-7years old. He decided to go to diff world to yk, adventure! And learn more about history and draw some sketches of the view. Its Charlie's turn to take great care and love for the kiddo.
He will and visit them too tho. Charlie slapping kim for using too much blood for buffing people up.

hello!! i just wanted to say i have been brainrotting over your genderbend bbc merlin au for WEEKS. your depiction of the characters were lovely especially mel's braids and artie's ponytail (i had calm myself down over that sentence)

I'm happy you pointed out the braids and the ponytail -- I remember the braid being the first detail I felt Mel would have when I watched BBC Merlin the first time. As for the ponytail, well...women being badass is amazing but there is Also something about them putting their hair up before Fuck!ng Sh!t Up (TM) that makes me....wow. yes. Anyway. I love the small details for Arlody*, and I'm SO SO glad you liked them too!!
I can't wait to show more of this AU because,, ugh, trust me when I say there is a LOT I have in store but I also am caught up with a lot of other ideas (+ college is starting, which is genuinely fun but that also means almost no time for poor ole me TT)

So what if furina anak sa labas ng isang 1% but she feels like she dont belong there. She knows how the system of elite works, the lifestyle, the chismis, the whos who (sarcastically ofc) but find it all so Boringgggg! I mean, why do i even botherrrrrrrr *insert furina's voice*. Decided to get out of the ultra rich lifestyle after her estranged father's death (who just took her in para masabing "maayos" yung fam nila) to pursue her passion which is film. Pero di nagbabasa ng last will and testament which states taht hindi niya makukuha yung trust fund niya until mag graduate siya ng college kaya naging starving artist "para sa sining" stereotype of a student. Ginusto niya yun kaso yung drastic change ng lifestyle makes her struggle a lottt which includes doing a lot of first times like magcommute, maghanap ng part time, mag process ng sariling govt id, maglinis ng cr etc.
One night, after her shift sa burgeran ni aling nena jk, nagising siya na nakasandal sa shoulders ni neuvi sa jeep na nakapark kasi tapos na yung byahe and neuv is nahihiya na manggising lol. It was awkward at first but nakita niya yung watch ni neuv and by her past extravagant lifestyle knowledge its was a real cosmograph daytona rolex 116509 which she finds cute as the color blue complements him. She deduced that he might be a new money guy(bcs noveu riche types tend to buy that brand) and for him to be wearing that on a jeep means hes a superclueless dumbass that doesnt know how the world works or he doesnt care and is just a walking charity for a magnanakaw (spoiler: both). She was puzzled kasi if ever na hes REALLY like superduper rich in this country she should know him or at least be familiar with but hindi which is very weird. Bumaba na siya ng siya ng jeep at maglakad pauwi kaso sinundan siya ni neuv like a lost which creeps her. Then narinig niya na hiniholdap si neuv sa likod na willingly binigay agad yung watch to furina's horror her body moved at hinabol yung magnanakaw and blurted out if meron mang makikinabang sa relo na yun it should be her and not the magnanakaw bcs she saw it first. Furina throw one of her shoes tapos natamaan sa ulo yung magnanakaw sa ulo na nanging dahilan para mabitawan yung relo papunta sa highway. Furina chases it but neuvi pulled her back before she was abt to be hit by a truck. Furina screamed in disdain when the watch was destroyed. Tapos nagaway sila ni neuv abt how that watch worth is nothing compared to someones life furina retorted not when it was her life etc angst angst until bakit ba sinusundan ni neuv si furina turns out makikihiram siya ng phone kasi his drad battery daw siya and nawala yung luggage niya sa airport like Icocontact lang niya fam niya abroad. In the end sinamahan ni furina si neuv sa money exchanger para magpapalit ng foreign money para may pangkain sila. They ate pares sa sidewalk at 4 am.
WWAHHAHAHAHA turns out neuv has some hotshot new money billionaire parent who got rich thru stockmarkets and is now a silicon valley tycoon na may asawang pinoy , him being their son, they wanted him to get in touch with her roots, and build connection here by studying law and econ etc so when the time comes na mageexpand sila sa ph, neuv will handle it. Hindi naman nagtaka si furina bcs her initial assessment sa kanya is correct lol. Insert neuvifuri mutual semi-codependency adventures abt them surviving and finding a place where they belong in this new living set-up which includes neuvilette a clueless puppy paying her to give him intel abt his classmates (like a background check and chismis) in pursuit of good connections and potential investors for the future, touring him around the metro and exposing him to how this country really works sprinkled with moral dilemma ng pagiging mayaman at mahirap. Until furina's past comes back haunting her lol
Maybe a tired-i-dunno-what-todo-but-i-need-to-survive-college-for-that-trust-fund furina and stoic-but-im-trying-to-understand-things-and-humanity-like-a-fish-out-of-water neuvilette dynamics with hepa lane and national museum dates to making a tierlist kung anong pinakamasarap na sardinas sa market.

ANON I LOVE THIS SO MUCH first saw this last week at ilang araw ko na siyang iniisip 😭 as a teleserye enjoyer patok na patok sa 'kin 'to fr 🙏
i can imagine this playing out a la 80s/90s pinoy college flicks (mga Rico Yan films ganun; saka Labs Kita Okey Ka Lang, Moral, etc), complete with the adventures the vibes and the college barkada 😅 considering Furina's personality i can't imagine her not having a lively friend group (tho she keeps her real social status from them)! and once Neuvi is in the picture, i imagine Furina would introduce him sa barkada as her "new friend", then the entire group shares knowing looks :3 but they welcome him to their group and they go to fun college stuff together!
feel ko considering that Neuvi is rich also there's no way he can't sense that Furi is not exactly the "starving artist" person she presents herself to be? like maybe he won't be able to pinpoint kung sino talaga siya ganun but he'd *sense* something "off" in her demeanor, her aura, in the way she's not quite like their other friends... and i think this is where the tension and the connection can come in... yeah they have their friend group but there are things abt each other that only they can understand. and even tho the friend group welcomed Neuvi, for some reason he's not quite at ease with them as he is with Furi, so ayun mas madalas tuloy silang dalawa lang ang magkasama.
'DI KO PA MAISIP HOW EXACTLY FURI'S PAST WILL COME TO THE PICTURE but you really really really got me at the Zhongli bit... LORD... LORD LORD... alam naman natin na ang political dynasties natin dito, ang ancestors ay mga landlords na ilang siglo nang namumuno sa bansa, so of course if Zhongli is a nepo baby politician, he knows who Furi is. i'm also considering what if Furi and Zhongli's families arranged them into marriage etc... sorry hilaw pa talaga ideas ko dito i'm just dumping playing around with concepts
Zhongli in canon is supportive of the idea of humans leading things their own way, so i think he'd be supportive naman of Furi's pursuits? like he won't be an antagonistic type of second-lead who'd be so controlling, who'd discourage her from her adventures. but he'd definitely disapprove of whatever-Nvfr-has-going-on LMAOO feel ko ano, since Neuvi is this clueless person who clings to Furi (in a way), Zhongli would perceive it as smth like, Neuvi-is-an-incompetent-person-who-holds-Furi-back? imagine kasi oh, imbis na Furi is focusing on herself and on doing what she wants, she also has to help Neuvi with stuff ganun. ta's maiisip ni Zhongli, "naku kung ako 'yan 'di kita gaganiyanin" EMZ but like Zhongli would think he can provide Furi stability, complete support, if ever she'd need it. he thinks he can be her rest, kumbaga— and this, he believes, is smth the "clueless incompetent" Neuvi can't give her.
WAIT WHY AM I DETAILING ON ZHONGLI ALL OF A SUDDEN ugh sorry this is rly how i go every time that grandpa is involved 😔 anyway i still imagine this will be Nvfr endgame
