“I don’t really know enough flowers to have a favorite, to be honest. Soo... Maybe something that’s red like me?” she offered. She was unsure just how many red flowers there were, but she was sure whatever Navy suggested to her, she’d probably like. “Pink would be nice, too!”

“Well you’re not the good guy.” Perhaps they were being a bit harsh- for the most part, the ruby’s actions had been completely justified. Poetic, even, but that didn’t mean they had to like it. Steven had really trusted her- he’d really wanted to believe that she’d be happy here on Earth with them, and Connie- well, Connie hadn’t been there, but she had enough self-preservation about her to know that things had the potential to get very bad now. Their friends, their home, their way of life; it was threatened now, and Stevonnie found that if anything, they were not as forgiving as the people who had created them.

Was she okay? Was she okay??
The question, though well-meaning in its nature for sure, did nothing but fan the flames of ANGER coiling within the pit of the Ruby’s very being. No, she wasn’t okay!! She was- she was a failure!! She was a useless excuse for a Ruby!! She’d been given the greatest opportunity to redeem herself she would ever get, and she’d blown it!! And now she was- she was HERE!! AGAIN!! On this stupid DOOMED planet that should have been wiped off the face of the cosmos thousands of years ago!!
SHE WAS NOT OKAY!!
In a display of aggression she surely would have felt embarrassed about had she not been so blinded by her rage, the older soldier lashed out, hand curling into a fist and fist connecting firmly with the physical mass of the other’s shoulder. It didn’t make her feel any better.
“And where’ve YOU BEEN ALL THIS TIME?!”
