Ricky Ponting's combined India-Australia Test XI selections for the World Test Championship Final surprise everyone.

Australian cricket icon Ricky Ponting bucked expectations and reputation-based selections by choosing a combined XI from the strong lineups of India and Australia ahead of the ICC World Test Championship final. Known for his keen cricketing insight, Ponting decided to build his unique side based on recent performance.

Rohit Sharma is supported as captain by Ponting.

Ponting's selection of Rohit Sharma and Usman Khawaja, top of the list, has granted the combined Test XI a sense of balance. While Rohit's leadership qualities and amount of captaincy experience convinced Ponting to choose him as the team captain, Khawaja's previous matches showed him to be a consistent performer, earning him a well-deserved opening slot.

Rohit is the perfect candidate to lead the team from the front, not just because of his excellent leadership record but also because of his propensity for scoring huge runs in crucial games. His time leading the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL has greatly benefited the group. Ponting made a well-considered choice, and one can only hope that Rohit and Khawaja's left-right combo can give the team's fortunes the much-needed lift.

Ponting praised Rohit's extraordinary leadership abilities and emphasised his significant contribution to India's triumph over Australia in a Test series earlier this year. The former Australian captain also praised Rohit's recent performance in tests, praising, in particular, his stunning century on a difficult wicket that distinguished him from other candidates. Rohit's performance in the IPL may not have been the finest, but he showed some signs of form during the test series with Australia.

Bowling strategy of Ponting

Ponting was forced to consider the extraordinary skills of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc while choosing the bowling assault. Due to his dependability and effect, Cummins—regarded as a premier fast bowler worldwide—was an obvious pick for Ponting. Ponting praised Starc's improvement over the past year, calling it some of his most excellent Test cricket forms yet.

Given that the primary selection factor for Ponting was Mohammed Shami's IPL performance, choosing Shami, a red-ball specialist, for the next matches was unquestionably a bold choice. Ponting, a successful and seasoned coach, chose the red-ball expert for various reasons. Recent IPL performances by Shami demonstrated his talent, commitment, and pressure tolerance.

It's difficult to ignore the superb shape when considering these characteristics necessary for success in every game style. Shami also possesses a lot of experience that will benefit the club, particularly in games that call for excellent performance under duress. Ponting's choice was, therefore, just and founded on merit, notwithstanding the disparity between the various forms.

Nathan Lyon, who many batters from the subcontinent have complimented for his ability to bother them on turning surfaces, was Ponting's choice, showing that he was focused on the spin department. Lyon was an excellent pick for Ponting because of his knowledge and abilities. The Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has joined the spin team with Lyon.

Jadeja's confidence has been further strengthened by his outstanding IPL season with the Chennai Super Kings. Jadeja is an essential squad member due to his adaptability and style-moulding abilities. The addition of Lyon and Jadeja to the spin squad will put pressure on the opposition's batters.

An effective middle order

Any cricket team's middle order is said to be its supporting cast, and this specific team's present roster certainly lives up to expectations. They have a strong quartet of seasoned batsmen who can both anchor and accelerate the innings, including Marnus Labuschagne, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, and Ravindra Jadeja.

Additionally, Alex Carey's position as the wicketkeeper gives their batting order more depth because he is a dependable hitter. They also possess some of the finest excellent bowling in the world, which is as deadly. The opposition will undoubtedly have their job cut out with such a potent batting and bowling unit when facing this side.

Ponting's selection criteria for the combined XI may appear strange, but he has good reason to believe that the squad can defeat any foe. He has created a lineup that can ignite the World Test Championship final by brilliantly fusing seasoned talent with recent form. Ponting's strategy is a welcome change from the standard selection method and can potentially change the course of the game in the future.

Uncharted 3 puzzle

I feel this approach can make some of its historical moments fall flat, especially when its central mystery is based on a handful of passages from the Quran. It’s a globe-trotting adventure where you aren’t expected to think too deeply about anything, relishing in the fantastical nature of whatever treasure you happen to be after. No research was done here, or if it was, Naughty Dog decided to fill in the gaps with playful whimsy that wasn’t afraid to poke fun at itself. Not only does this establishment charge £3 for a meal (fish ‘n’ chips obviously) in London of all places, the entire building is populated by clones of Phil Mitchell happy to kick your teeth in at a moment’s notice. When Nathan Drake and his mates descend upon London to marvel at the skyline and walk through rain-drenched streets filled with red phone boxes, its ignorance to realism becomes abundantly clear. Well, it’s all about being sad and serious nowadays, so revisiting this misunderstood masterpiece is a breath of fresh air. Uncharted 3 is still a silly game, drenched in laughable cliches as we travel the world and bumble across stereotypes that speak to Naughty Dog’s knack for not taking itself too seriously. Its thoughtful, considered in its approach to more substantial storytelling, but it never dominates the experience. In a series defined by explosive action and immersive puzzles, Drake’s Deception decides to slow things down and let us bask in the chemistry between Nate and Sully, unboxing how their first moments together would grow into a relationship that will be pushed to its limits later in the campaign. It was groundbreaking at the time, daring to recontextualise our relationship with a character who had already grown iconic in the eyes of many. The opening flashback sequence defines this game’s legacy.

It isn’t overly dour or contemplative like A Thief’s End, while Among Thieves isn’t quite dense enough to hang an entire film upon, not a half-decent one anyway. There’s a reason that Tom Holland and Mark Walhberg’s upcoming adaptation draws from this game more than any other. When he emerges into a sequence of firefights with little need to quench his thirst or regain his sense of place, the dissonance is palpable, but Uncharted 3 is so excellent because it manages to balance its swashbuckling antics with a narrative that is willing to delve a little deeper. It felt like this hero’s final chapter, the sands threatening to swallow him whole as distant mirages seek to break down what few faculties he has left. Roaming the desert after the legendary cargo plane sequence is still burned into my memory. It dares to slowly but surely tear apart Drake’s legacy in a way the fourth game would build upon, drawing doubts amidst the relationships of key characters as we are forced to confront what’s real and what isn’t. Acting as the final entry in the series helmed by Amy Hennig, this sequel is a darker turn on Nolan North’s character. Drake is deceiving someone isn’t he? The cheeky bugger. To its credit, Drake’s Deception does try to tell a more nuanced tale, the clue being in the name. Related: The Good Life Is Deadly Premonition In Tory Britain You can only watch so many lost cities crumble until you need to take a look in the mirror.

It was willing to dissect Nathan Drake as a character, analysing his flaws and problematic relationships in the wake of a life defined by failed treasures. It kept all of the charm, action, and dialogue of its predecessors, but deep down it was a very different game. But along came A Thief’s End, which channelled a similar level of melancholy thanks to the dual directing talents of Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann. For a number of years it felt destined to be his last, with The Last of Us marking a more mature, introspective type of narrative rollercoaster that saw Naughty Dog change how it made games forever. Putting aside its age, Uncharted 3 remains a fantastic adventure and a fitting conclusion to Nathan Drake’s original trilogy. I'm just trying to exist and vibe in this hellscape. Video games please stop making me feel old. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception celebrates its 10th anniversary this week, now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to turn into dust and become one with the Rub' al Khali desert.

Personal Opinion: A gay love story inspired by the classic fairy tale, Cinderella, what more could you possibly want? What makes this a fairy tale, you might ask? Simple. Nate and Cam are perfect for each other. They met once and yet they seemed to understand each other perfectly. However, when Nate finds out that Cam is a Pierce, things go downhill from there. Will Cam be able to find his Cinderfella or were they doomed from the start?

Spoilers Below For My Likes & Dislikes:

Likes:

- This is one of those books that have a saccharine ending that rots teeth. I love it. Firstly, this story takes inspiration from Cinderella so it’s no surprise that it has a fairy tale feel to it. The way Cameron and Nate just feel perfect for each other is that fairy tale aspect. Their love is perfect. Secondly, there’s no homophobia. At least none that is significant to the story. Cam seems totally secure in his sexuality and his dad never references it in a negative light. Instead, Nate and Cam are out here boldly kissing in front of the paparazzi in the final chapter. Fairy tale love indeed. Thirdly, the “evil stepmother” turned out not to be so evil. Because Tonya was only 21 when she married Mick and suddenly became the sole guardian of Nate. She was just as lost as he was. It’s really no wonder she struggled to be a parent but I think she did well in the end, apologizing for not doing better and promising to do better from then on.

- I mentioned Cameron and Nate being perfect together, didn’t I? Well they are. They seem to get each other on an almost spiritual level where they complete each other’s sentences and fill in the blanks for each other’s songs. It’s so sweet how much Cam cares for Nate even when Nate was angry at Cam. It’s so sweet how Nate was touched by Cameron’s song for him. It’s so sweet that Cam wrote a song about Nate that was apparently sexy and powerful. I just, ugh, I wish more couples were like them. Actual communication, treating each other like equals, being on the same wavelength on something they love: music.

- Victor is such a great friend and hilariously, not-so-subtly, possibly repressed bisexual. He is Nate’s ride-or-die. When the paparazzi hounded Nate, Vic (and his family) offered his home to Nate to hide out. He then helped Nate go on the run by getting him a dream gig being a roadie for his favorite band, Liquid. He’s constantly ready to be Nate’s ride almost anywhere and he pushes Nate to pursue his dreams.

- Tess is the same in that last aspect for Cam. Cameron was so insecure in his singing and Tess, his twin, was constantly pushing him to pursue that dream. She’s also great as an individual as well. I mean, making a foundation that helps women achieve greatness? Iconic. Her eye and skill for business are so impressive too and honestly? She’s just a queen and we stan.

- I’m not done talking about how sweet Nate and Cam are. They stayed up until like four in the morning just writing songs! They noted how the other like to take coffee for reference in the future! Cam cooked for Nate and helped Nate write a song about his dad! Nate encouraged Cam to open up about his insecurities about his father and helped him stand up to him too! Like that is a power couple right there. When they truly bring out the best in each other. Cam really is the most unselfish person too somehow.

Dislikes:

- Bruh, Nate got doxxed by Tess’s fans. That is so fucked up. The people that put his address on the internet should be punished because I feel like we glossed over that. And Tess really should have known better.

- I have my issues with Cam’s dad but honestly, that’s sort of irrelevant? Shockingly. I don’t know, for a guy that’s so busy, he tries for his family and he even cares about his artists. I honestly can’t be too mad at him.

- The dialogue feels contrived sometimes. Like half the time, the characters were giving whole ass monologues that seemed way too scripted. But again, I’m not too mad at it because there is the fairy tale aspect to take into account here.

- Also, Cam describes Nate as having a muscled back but Nate spends at least 10% of the book stress eating unhealthy foods. There is no way. I know that this is fiction and everyone can be pretty in fiction but after reading so many books with plus-sized characters that are still written as attractive, I just feel like the same could have been done with Nate.

Love Letter to Liza, a virtual tribute marking the 75th birthday of stage and screen icon Liza Minnelli, will air March 12 at 8 PM ET on the streaming platform Stellar.

Viewers can expect performances, odes, and birthday wishes from Joel Grey, Lily Tomlin, Catherine Zeta- Jones, Chita Rivera, Joan Collins, Harry Connick, Jr., Ben Vereen and dancers from the Verdon-Fosse Legacy, Ute Lemper, Billy Stritch, Charles Busch, Kathie Lee Gifford, Lea Delaria, Jim Caruso, Jonathan Groff, Sandra Bernhard, Andrew Rannells, Nathan Lane, Mario Cantone, Tony Hale, Coco Peru, John Cameron Mitchell, Michele Lee, Andrea Martin, Seth Sikes, and Neil Meron.

20 MOVIES WHICH FEATURE BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURE

PART #2: HOTELS AND NON-RESIDENTIAL (AND A FEW MORE HOUSES)

The purpose of this blog has always been to explore, through cinema, buildings that we may not have the chance to visit in person. With most of us stuck at home right now, that kind of cinematic escape feels more appealing than ever, so here's a bumper list of some more of my all-time favourite structures in movies. (Part #1: HOUSES is Here)

1. QUANTUM OF SOLACE (2009) The tradition of housing Bond villians in sci-fi worthy contemporary architecture was continued with Auer+Weber’s ESO Hotel at Cerro Paranal.

2. SPECTRE (2015) This Bond features Johann Obermoser’s striking mountaintop ICE Q restaurant, at Austria’s Sölden Ski Resort.

3. GATTACA (1997) Gattaca’s futuristic world is assembled from iconic elements of California’s architectural past. The characters glide down minimalist roadways in electrified Citroens and inhabit monumental Brutalist, Futurist or International Style structures, such as Frank Lloyd Wright’s Marin County Civic Center.

4. PLAYTIME (1967) Jaques Tati poked fun at Modern architecture, but depicted it onscreen more beautifully than perhaps any other filmmaker. For his masterwork, he built his own Modernist mini-Paris, with steel and concrete buildings, streets, working traffic lights, and a power plant.

5. CATCH ME IF YOU CAN (2001) Leonardo DiCaprio’s fraudster poses as a Pan Am pilot in two scenes shot within Eero Saarinen’s 1962 TWA Terminal.

6. EX MACHINA (2014) Nathan’s contemporary alpine residence is actually Jensen and Skodvin’s 2013 Juvet Landscape Hotel.

7. A VIEW TO KILL (1985) In this 80′s Bond, Roger Moore shoots unsuccessfully at Grace Jones from around the steelwork of the Eiffel Tower, as he pursues her up it, dodging his own would-be assassins.

8. VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA (2008) Woody Allen features several of Barcelona’s iconic structures, including Gaudí’s Church of La Sagrada Familia, and Casa Milà, and Josep Lluis Sert’s Miro Foundation.

9. THE INTERNATIONAL (2009) As globe-trotting thrillers go, this is unremarkable, but it does feature an extended scene at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Guggenheim Museum.

10. THE ITALIAN JOB (1969) This film featured the beautiful rooftop test track of the 1923 Fiat Lingotto Factory in Turin, by Matté Trucco (pictured above).

11. INCEPTION (2010) The snow fortress was allegedly based on the iconic 1970 UCSD Geisel Library, by William Pereira & Associates + Gin Wong.

18. THE PHANTOM THREAD (2018) The clean, meticulous, interiors of this film, especially those of the minimalist Georgian townhouse -the curves of the staircases, the William Morris wallpaper - are as absorbing as the characters.

MAKING RUGBY LEAGUE GREAT AGAIN!!!

Simply the Best???

By this stage most of us have had the misfortune of viewing this year’s NRL season opening promo. The 2-minute (thankfully shortened for TV) expose based on the iconic 1980’s Tina Turner advert highlights 30 of the greatest NRL moments from the past 30 years. Unfortunately, unless said greatest moment features some fringe minority group of indigenous, or progressive agenda rugby league highlight it misses the final editors cut.

Obviously put together by some leftie earing wearing, pony-tailed marketing tosser, who has never been to a game, the only thing missing is poor Old Izzy Folau nailed to a cross begging for penance.

Let’s face it, most rugby league fans, including the all-important angry old white men segment don’t for a second relate to or buy into this progressive gibberish and at the end of the day just want to see two teams of grown men spend 80 minutes bashing the crap out of each other without too many refereeing f#$kups. In the Sea Eagle’s opinion, a more appropriate season opening promo would have been to highlight the 30 most memorable atrocities committed by NRL players during the past 30 years. With this in mind the Director of Controversy in conjunction with marketing gurus Les Boyd Creative, has come up with this. Open the link and pump up the volume!!

Off-Season Controversy

In any other off season, the following incidents would be considered yet another shameful off-season of NRL players running amok. Of course, in season 2020 and the 2019/20 off-season there wasn't even a murmur of outrage over what happened. Basically the public is immune to all of it and expects it. And yet the tale of the tape reveals this :

Nelson Asofa Solomona

With the off-season barely a few weeks old Melbourne Storm forward Nelson Asofa Solomona on Oct 19 was reportedly seen throwing punches outside the La Favela nightclub in Seminyak Bali. Witnesses allegedly say the 23-year-old New Zealand Test prop was defending a teammate after they were set upon in an unprovoked attack. No action was taken ultimately by the NRL but the Sea Eagle certainly noticed it, and can only commend it as a great opening gambit .

Sam Burgess AVO and charges Oct 19.

Although the great player has now retired, at the time he was still contemplating being involved in season 2020. Unfortunately, things got a bit out of control when he ended up being charged with an intimidation type offence involving his father in law and also had an AVO brought against him again by allegedly attending his father in law’s premises (presumably when not invited). How Mr Burgess could be charged with intimidation is anyone’s guess.

This one still has to be played out in the Courts but again it was a fantastic entrée, with more and the best yet to come .

This one was a Bobby dazzler . Manly had pinned all their hopes on this bloke to be there star #9 going forward. Regrettably things went incredibly haywire and allegations surfaced that he attacked someone whilst still recovering from a shoulder operation and his arm in a sling, allegedly with a knife carried in said sling. Bail was refused and as far as the Sea Eagle can ascertain, he remains incarcerated. It is pretty hard to top this in terms of an off -field atrocity but there you have it . Naturally, the NRL has deemed him unfit to play until this matter has been determined by the courts, although how he could play whilst serving time in a prison cell and recovering from a serious shoulder operation is anyone's guess.

Another beauty this one, with Brisbane Broncos star forward again travelling to Bali and running amok. The allegations of course are all untested and unproven but the suggestions are that he was wildly swinging and landing punches on passers-by whilst travelling on a motorbike or perhaps walking in the street (one can't be entirely sure). Mr Fifita suggests he was set up. How hard would that be for an NRL player to achieve after a few drinks in Bali, the Sea Eagle suggests? In any event, he found himself incarcerated in a Bali hell hole, and allegedly having to make some sort of Brown paper bag payment to the Bali authorities in order to make this one go away. The Sea Eagle of course casts no blame against Mr Fifita for this one, as it is all supposition and hype. But the usual rules apply. That is, where there is smoke, there's usually some little F&&^%cker lighting matches.

Broncos hooker James Segeyaro doping charges.

James Segeyaro has been provisionally suspended by the NRL under the league's anti-doping policy after testing positive to a banned substance. At the time of writing this one still has to play out but it is certainly the sort of stuff you expect in any NRL off season .

Penrith Panthers NRL player Tyrone May Sex Tapes

Tyrone May narrowly avoided gaol and was sentenced to a three-year community corrections order over a sex tape scandal in January 2020. Tyrone May pleaded guilty to four counts of intentionally recording an intimate image without consent. The magistrate said his behaviour was "reprehensible" and "criminal". Apparently May and his teammate Nathan Cleary left the court without making any comment. May has been sidelined for nearly a year since being arrested over the videos from 2018, which were filmed without consent. One incident occurred at a Coffs Harbour motel and a second involved a woman in western Sydney three months later.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty in November 2019 to four counts of intentionally recording an intimate image without consent.

Magistrate Robyn Denes sentenced May to 300 hours of community service, as well as psychological intervention, during his three-year community corrections order.

"This behaviour is not only morally reprehensible, it's criminal," she told Parramatta Local Court. "Ultimately, this is an offence which takes what was consensual sexual acts to another level. It does breach trust." Magistrate Denes warned May's offending placed him "on the cusp" of a custodial sentence and questioned whether he showed any remorse.

Not much more can be said about this one other than one must marvel at what would be revealed in a psychological intervention for an NRL player of this atrocity calibre. The facts speak for themselves and it is nothing less than a pure off field atrocity by an NRL player.

This one showed that not all NRL players are guilty by association or by press release. Ultimately Mr Reynolds managed to persuade the New South Wales prosecutions to drop the charges on the basis of some ulterior or alleged ulterior motive of the complainant. Nevertheless, it is definitely controversial and pure Rugby League and worthy of a place in an off-field atrocity listing.

Maika Sivo was charged with indecent annoyance after allegedly touching the skirt of a waitress on Boxing Day during a trip home to Fiji. The NRL allowed the winger to play in the Nines tournament in Perth and the stand down policy did not apply to this player. Is there anything more fundamentally Rugby League than this one?

Curtis Scott allegedly assaulted a police officer in January 2020 and faces up to five years in jail if found guilty. Scott, who joined the Canberra Raiders in the off-season from Melbourne Storm, was arrested earlier this year after he allegedly kicked and punched a police officer in Sydney.

New South Wales Police said officers were forced to taser the 22-year-old to subdue him in the early hours of January 27, 2020 after members of the public reported a man "acting erratically" in the Moore Park sports precinct.

Scott was charged with two counts of assault, resisting police, behaving offensively in public and trespassing after being told to leave.

The NRL says he is free to play this season but warns against interpreting its decision as "a view on [his] innocence or guilt". In its statement, the NRL acknowledged Scott's charges were "extremely serious" but added "he should not be prevented from playing whilst he responds to them".

Scott's charges carry a maximum sentence of five years' imprisonment but the NRL had been considering applying its stand-down policy to him regardless.

Raiders coach Ricky sticky Stuart was naturally infuriated over this one, with his high profile and high paid recruit caught up in what can only be described as at best unprofessional. Yet again the old adage applies, nothing good happens after midnight (particularly in the Moore Park precinct after Australia Day). And, certainly as the NRL knows in seasons past, when we start talking Australia Day we usually end up with at least one NRL player going above and beyond .Who can forget what happened to Mitchell Pearce and that poor dog a few years back, after his efforts on an Australia day bonding session went right off the Richter scale.

but wait there is more. And this one takes the cake.

Corey Harawira-Naera and Jayden Okunbor stood down by Bulldogs just two days before their NRL season-opener- 10 March 2020

The Bulldogs stood down Corey Harawira-Naera and Jayden Okunbor just two days before their NRL season-opener.The players were issued a show cause notice by the NRL as to why they shouldn’t face further disciplinary action for alleged breaches of the game’s code of conduct.

It is still somewhat unclear as to what the players did but neither is the subject of a criminal investigation (at this stage). What "sources" close to the Sea Eagle can reveal is that it involved young high school girls (apparently over the age of consent) in a room after a trial was played at Port Macquarie.

It is understood that following a “promotional” visit to a local High School Messrs. Harawira-Naera and Okunbor hooked up with a couple of the girls and ended up back in their rooms for a consensual encounter. How these two knuckleheads thought that this was OK is anyone’s guest suffice to say these are NRL players and should be dealt with, with the highest of caution at the best of times.

Port Macquarie is South of Coffs Harbour where a few years back all hell broke loose in similar circumstances. Again, it was the Bulldogs.

Canterbury referred the matter to the NRL Integrity Unit after receiving concerning reports of alleged misconduct by the two players.

Bulldogs CEO Andrew Hill confirmed the players were stood down “Each was issued a show cause notice by the NRL as to why they shouldn’t face further disciplinary action for alleged breaches of the game’s code of conduct,” Hill said.

If this is in fact the case Bulldogs management also have a bit to answer for in failing to issue both Harawira-Naera and Okunbor with the simplest of instructions prior to the school visit - that being “do not f#@K any of the students”.

All the Sea Eagle can say is why do Clubs let players of limited mental ability or capacity, make decisions of any kind. Why do they play trials at seaside locations like Port Macquarie at all? The only place the Bulldogs should play a trial is in Parklea against the best local 17 inmates. There will be more to play out in this one. Rest assured. The Sea Eagle is thinking St George player Jack De Belin here.

The innovative company Fiasco Theater will present a new production of George Furth and Stephen Sondheim's iconic musical Merrily We Roll Along. Fiasco's Co-Artistic Director Noah Brody directs the show, which revolves around a former composer named Franklin Shepard, who has abandoned his friends and music career to become a Hollywood producer. The musical goes backward, showing snapshots of his life.

March 14 - Kiss Me, Kate Opens on Broadway

Time to brush up your Shakespeare! Kelli O'Hara and Will Chase are set to star in the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate at Studio 54. The story centers on a cast putting on a musical version of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew and the conflict on and offstage between Fred Graham (Chase), the show's director, producer and star, and the leading lady, his ex-wife Lilli Vanessi (O'Hara).

March 21 - Ain't Too Proud Opens on Broadway Get ready 'cause here the Temptations musical comes! With a score filled with Motown classics, Ain't Too Proud chronicles the life and times of The Temptations, one of the greatest R&B groups of all time. The musical stars Derrick Baskin as Otis Williams, Ephraim Sykes as David Ruffin, Jarvis B. Manning Jr. as Al Bryant, James Harkness as Paul Williams and Jeremy Pope (yes, from Choir Boy) as Eddie Kendricks.

April 11 - Gary Opens on Broadway

Tony winners and comedy royals Nathan Lane and Andrea Martin return to Broadway this season in Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, a new comedy by Pulitzer Prize finalist Taylor Mac. Gary is set during the fall of the Roman Empire, when the years of bloody battles are over: The civil war has ended. There are casualties everywhere, and two very lowly servants (played by Lane and Martin) are charged with cleaning up the bodies.

April 17 - Hadestown Opens on Broadway

Hadestown, the new musical by singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, follows the mythical quest of Orpheus to overcome Hades and regain the favor of his one true love, Eurydice. Casting has yet to be announced for Broadway, but original stars of the 2016 off-Broadway premiere Patrick Page and Amber Gray as well as Eva Noblezada, André De Shields and Reeve Carney are currently appearing in the London production.

April 18 - Hillary and Clinton Opens on Broadway

Laurie Metcalf and John Lithgow will star in Lucas Hnath's Hillary and Clinton, which examines the politics of marriage, gender roles and the limitations of experience and inevitability in a look at a dynasty in crisis. During the early days of 2008, former First Lady Hillary (Metcalf) is in a desperate bid to save her campaign for President. Her husband, Bill (Lithgow), sees things one way; her campaign manager sees things another.

April 25 - Beetlejuice Opens on Broadway

Beetlejuice, the stage adaptation of the Tim Burton film, spotlights teenager Lydia Deetz, who calls on a ghost-with-the-most to scare away her insufferable parents: Beetlejuice! He comes up with the perfect plan, which involves exorcism, arranged marriages and a girl scout who gets scared out of her wits. Tony nom Alex Brightman was praised for his performance in the titular role during Washington, D.C.'s pre-Broadway run.

July 25 - Moulin Rouge! Opens on Broadway

The musical based on Baz Luhrmann's 2001 film stars Tony winner Karen Olivo opposite Broadway favorite Aaron Tveit as the dazzling, entrancing chanteuse, Satine and lovesick writer, Christian, respectively. Their lives collide in Paris' Moulin Rouge with its many characters. The cast includes six-time Tony nominee Danny Burstein, Tony nominee Sahr Ngaujah, Robyn Hurder and Tam Mutu.

December 10 - West Side Story Bows on Broadway Something's coming, something good! Tony winner Ivo van Hove will helm a new Broadway revival of Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's West Side Story that will begin performances next year at a theater to be announced. For the first time ever in the United States, this production will feature all-new choreography by the internationally acclaimed Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.
