The Paramount Importance of Self Attention, by Sri Sadhu Om, As recorded by Michael James
Part Three - Mountain Path: April-June 2012 - Excerpt
Note of 29th December 1977
🕉️
Sadhu Om (in reply to my question whether he was doing any sādhanā in the years before he came to Bhagavan):
I was longing for grace and always thinking of God. That is sādhanā enough!
Some people say that the light seen at the time of Bhagavan's passing was him returning to Skandaloka [the world of Skanda, the younger son of Lord Siva]. First they try to limit him as a body, and then they try to limit him as a light. Their minds are so bound up in limitations that they have to limit even the illimitable. Bhagavan always said:
'Do not think this body is me. I am shining in each one of you as 'I'. Attend only to that'.
How often and for how many lives have we fooled ourselves thinking that our social service is selfless? We did it only for our own self-satisfaction or glory. It is natural for each one of us to love ourself. We are all naturally selfish, so we should first find out what is self. When we knοw ourself as we really are, we will experience everything as not other than ourself, and thus our selfishness will then be the highest virtue. Only a jñāni knows how to be truly selfish, because without knowing self we cannot knοw what real (unlimited) selfishness is.
In the path of surrender saints sing, 'Send me to heaven or hell, but never let me forget you', as if heaven and hell really exist. Their prayer only shows their total love for God alone. They teach us the right attitude, but they know that heaven and hell have no real existence. All these dualities — heaven and hell, good and bad, God and individual — exist only in the mind. So ultimately we must learn to make this mind subside.
When I first came to Bhagavan and heard him repeating constantly that everyone must eventually come to the path of self-enquiry, I wondered whether he was being partial to his own teaching, but I soon understood why he insisted that this is so. The final goal is only oneness, and to experience oneness our mind must subside, which will happen entirely only when we attend to nothing other than ourself.
So long as we attend to anything other than ourself, our mind cannot subside, because attention to other things sustains it, since that which experiences otherness is only this mind. When the mind subsides completely, only self-attention remains, and self-attention alone is the state of absolute oneness. Bhagavan used to repeat this teaching every day, maybe ten or twenty times, but still we didn't change. He didn't change his teaching either, because to him this truth was so clear.
The basic mistake we all make is to take a body to be 'I'. This deeply entrenched feeling 'I am this body called so-and-so' is the root of all our trouble. If this tape-recorder is not working, we must attend to it and not to other things, because then only will we be able to repair it. Likewise, to rectify this mistaken identity, 'I am so-and-so', we must attend to it in order to knοw what it really is: what or who am I?
Only when we thus investigate ourself will the false adjunct 'so-and-so' drop off, and what will then remain is only the reality, 'I am'. 'I am so-and-so' is the naivedyam [the food to be offered to God] [1], and when Bhagavan has consumed the adjunct 'so-and-so', what remains is only 'I am', which is his prasadam [the purified remnant of God's food, which is shared among devotees as a token of his grace].
'I am' alone really exists, so it is the true form of God and guru. To treat and cherish this filthy body as 'I' is therefore the worst kind of idol-worship. If we give up this idol-worship by knowing the truth of ourself, then we can worship anything as God, because we will know that nothing is other than him, our real self.

Food Offering To Chandra – Moon God In Hinduism
By Abhilash Rajendran  Monday, November 28, 2022
Chandra, the Moon God in Hinduism, is one of the Navagrahas – the nine celestial bodies. They are propitiated for overcoming bad luck in life and to solve horoscope related problems. Food offering or bhog or naivedya to Moon is part of the pujas and rituals. The details regarding flowers, food offerings, herbs, etc are found in the Matsya Purana.
The main food offering to Moon is sweet made of ghee and milk especially white in color. Any sweet offering made from rice sprinkled with white flowers is the ideal bhog or naivedyam to Chandra Bhagavan.
Is this essentially this hindu cult,no way? They adore him and give all milks from cows and butter every day so he can be fatty little shit.I know, they made idol in form of moon god,now they mix every herb with milk, honey or butter.Just to fatten everyone. Those priestes are full of this lustiful and greedy from milk from another species.Like,we can't make milk on our own?Every hindu temple, every this offering,is always milk from cow of butter,or ghee.I can only conclude this is because hindu believe that if they drink enough milk that they will be clever and see god. This myth is really Chandra. This cycle of abuse and continuous slavery of every animal is really this? The green and blue, living on the offering.People think he is god,but actually lustiful Chandra and his shit pretending he is true god. No,he is lying big time.Just read whole Budhist concept, and blue firery shit do exit. Going up and down, but why?Continuous suffering because somebody didin't listen to his wish.He rooted evil and now everyone is suffering.

Shiva is the God of the yogis, self-controlled and celibate, while at the same time a remarkable lover of his spouse. He is the destroyer, following Brahma the creator and Vishnu the preserver, after which Brahma again creates the world and so on. Shiva is responsible for change, both in the form of death and destruction and in the positive sense of destroying the ego, the false identification. Shiva’s first wife was goddess Sati. After the death of Sati, Shiva lost all interest in the world. He withdrew to his mountain top, Mount Kailash, and took residence in a cave where he immersed himself in intense meditation. Before the death of his beloved Sati, Shiva had given the boon of invulnerability to a demon named Taraka. When Shiva gave up the world and the heavens, Taraka realized that this was the perfect time to attack. Soon the demon had taken over both on heaven and earth and chaos reigned supreme everywhere. The Gods tried to do all in their power but in vain, ultimately they turned to Shiva at this dire hour. But Shiva was uninterested. According to one legend, even if Shiva wanted to do something he would not have been able to. When Sati died, Shiva also lost all his powers. The reason given for this in one of the stories of the sacred Hindu texts is that Sati is a reincarnation of Shakti and Shakti means power. So when Sati died Shiva lost his Shakti. He was powerless. Shakti represents the Energy, the force without which Shiva is incomplete. Origin of Goddess Parvati In their desperation, the Gods then turned to the goddess Shakti, imploring her to be of help. Shakti agreed to help and took the form of the goddess Parvati. Parvati was born to Himavan, the king of the mountains. Parvati means mountain as the Sanskrit word for “Parvati” is “Parvat”. An excerpt from Valmiki Ramayna describes the birth of Parvati ( Uma) and her marriage to Shiva. तस्याम् गंग इयम् अभवत् ज्येष्ठा हिमवतः सुता | उमा नाम द्वितीया अभूत् कन्या तस्य एव राघव || १-३५-१६ “From Mena, this Ganga is emerged as an elder daughter to Himavanta, and a second daughter, by her name she is Uma, is also begotten by Himavanta, oh, Raghava… [1-35-16] उग्रेण तपसा युक्ताम् ददौ शैलवरः सुताम् | रुद्राय अप्रतिरूपाय उमाम् लोक नमस्कृताम् || १-३५-२१ “And that Uma who is unified with her rigorous sacrament thus became a reverential to all the worlds, and that best one among mountains, Himavanta, gave such a daughter to Rudra, an unequalled one in His aspect… [1-35-21] Parvati’s Love for Shiva Even as a young girl Parvati was in love with Lord Shiva. As she grew older, Parvati blossomed into a stunning woman filled with grace and beauty. While she captured the hearts of many kings and princes, she only had eyes for Shiva. There is a story which mentions that in an effort to win his love and affection she decided to visit the cave where he was meditating and started cleaning and decorating it. However, he remained unmoved by her love and dedication. She also tried bringing fruits for him but he remained steadfast in his meditation. Not once did he open his eyes or acknowledge the presence of Parvati. It is said that Parvati then turned to the Goddesses of Love and Longing, Priti and Rati the consorts of Kama, the God of love and passion. They turned the cave that Shiva meditated in, into a garden of pleasure, filled with flowers, trees, birds and bees. Once the cave was packed with enchantments and wonders, they called upon Lord Kama. Upon his arrival Kama wasted no time in shooting Shiva with the arrow of desire. The arrow had no effect on Shiva, he was however intensely angered at being disturbed. Enraged, Shiva opened his third eye and reduced Kama to ashes. With the destruction of Kama, Parvati lamented to the others Gods that love has been lost to the world. She reassured them however that when Shiva accepts Parvati as his wife, Kama will be reborn. Parvati had tried everything in her power to make Shiva notice her, but nothing worked. Finally she decided to do what Sati had done to win over Shiva. Parvati left all the riches and comfort of her father’s palace and went to live in the forest as an ascetic. It is said that in her trials, Parvati surpassed even the greatest ascetics. What she went through was even greater than what Sati, Shiva’s first consort, had endured. She went through the most rigorous self-mortifications from walking in the winter snow without clothing to sitting under the hot summer sun for days, to standing on one foot motionless for long hours to eating nothing for days and surviving on the sun’s nourishment. In fact her asceticism was so intense that it is said to have been equal to that of the great Shiva. Following in his footsteps, Parvati soon had utter control over her body and her mind. Parvati’s Tapasya generated great amounts of energy and heat. This heat and energy finally reached Shiva who was shaken out of his meditation. When he was finally back in the world, Shiva wondered what or who it was that had wrenched him out of his intense tapasya. He then heard the story of how Parvati in order to have Shiva as her husband went through much rigorous self-mortification and achieved a state of asceticism almost akin to that of himself. So impressed was he by her self-sacrifice that he immediately agreed to make Parvati his consort. The excerpts ( 61-64) from the Prabhasa Khanda of the Skanda Purana gives a conversation between Shiva and Parvati, where Shiva tells Parvati : In this Varaha Kalpa, O goddess, you became Parvati obtained by Himavan through his penance, when the Chakshusha Manvantara has passed off. O beautiful lady, due to the anger of Daksha you had to be separated from me for the duration of a day of Brahma. Your span of life is the period of his six months. Marriage of Shiva and Parvati Shiva and Parvati were married in great pomp and celebration. The gods rejoiced to have Shiva back and married at the same time and the heavens blessed their union. After they were married Shiva and Parvati went back to Mount Kailash and made it their abode. It is said that once back at Mount Kailash, Shiva and Parvati proceeded to have such passionate love making that the Gods feared for the future of the world and were forced to go to Nandi and beg him to intervene! From this union, Lord Kama was reborn just as Parvati had foretold. Ever since then, Parvati and Shiva lived together in conjugal harmony, known to all as the perfect couple. Therefore, many know that Shiva and Parvati have the perfect marriage. The relationship of Shiva and Parvati has been depicted in many forms. Parvati is said to be the balancing factor in Shiva’s life only second to the intense meditation that he practices. When Shiva is angered and takes the form of Natraja, all the Gods worry that Shiva will destroy the entire cosmos, but it is Parvati who calms down the angry Lord by matching his fierce and destructive Tandava dance with her own slow, graceful steps thus complimenting him at his best and at his worst. Shiva’s personality is replete with dichotomies. On the one hand, Shiva is an ascetic who disappears from the mortal world, into Mount Kailash and meditates there. On the other hand, he is a fierce and angry God whose temper knows no bounds. He will destroy everything in his path. Through all this, Parvati brings him back to balance by pulling him towards the role of a householder. Shiv Parvati Mantra Swayamvar Parvati Mantra “Om Hreem Yoginim Yogini Yogeswari Yoga Bhayankari Sakala SthavaraJangamasya Mukha Hridayam Mama Vasam akarsha Akarshaya Namaha “ Meaning: In the first line, we praise Goddess Parvathi and in the second line, we request her to attract towards us. “Mama Vasam Akarsha” – means ‘attract towards me’. This is the first adored deity of Lord Ganesha Who physically ate the naivedyam offered by the SPH.This deity was worshiped by the Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism (SPH) since the age of 3. He chose Ganesha - the God Who is easily pleased - to inspire humanity to choose the same and experience Oneness through.Lord Ganesha is the Hindu God worshipped as the Lord of Completion and remover of all obstacles. At the tender age of three, SPH exemplified the subtle sacred teaching of "Practicing the Presence of God", through this deity, even in mundane daily activities such as bathing, eating, sleeping, thereby infusing the Superconscious energy of the deity into each and every moment of life, which is the Hindu or KAILASA lifestyle. It is through this deity that the SPH teaches how to manifest any desired reality through deep bhakti (devotion) and tyaga (blissful sacrifice). Once ,when offering naivedyam (food offering) to Ganesha, the SPH decided not to eat, sleep or even move until His beloved deity partook His food offering. Responding to His intense tapas, Ganesha, the Lord who holds the divine joy in His hands as modhaka (mudhakaraatha modhakah), appeared in front of the SPH and ate the food offered to him. At that moment, Ganesha incarnated in the form of the Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism, as the fruition of His penance and thenceforth, that tapas itself started serving the whole world with the science of enlightenment (sadā vimukthi-sadhakah). For this very reason, any spiritual seeker can experience this same transcendental experience of Ganesha just by listening or reading about his divine Manifestation in the life of SPH. Today, millions are initiated into this same power of manifesting Ganesha and demonstrating this Science of manifestation of Gods, which the Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism has revived. https://nithyanandapedia.org/wiki/1981_-_Lord_Ganesha_eats_the_food_offered_by_SPH Today,we will celebrate this auspicious leela through the MahaGanapati Homa and the Leela Alankara Laghu Puja. https://www.instagram.com/p/CXtlYpPrPs-/?utm_medium=tumblr

This offering is the most fruitful and spiritually elevating- it is the complete dedication of oneself to God. It is austere worship, the devotees forgetting their worldly worries and associating them maximum with whatever goes on within the temple-heavy bath in the temple pond, drinking water from its well and having the Prasadam as food. Married people follow strict brahmacharya (celibacy) during the bhajan. Apart from these main offerings, there are a variety of archanas, alankarams, and naivedyams that can be offered. Purport by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
The tongue is the most important sense within the body. Therefore it is recommended that if we want to control our senses we should first control the tongue. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura has emphasized this. He describes our present conditioned state as sarira avidya-jal: we are packed up in the network of this material body, and we are just like a fish caught within a net. And not only are we caught in this body; we are also changing this "net" life after life, through 8,400,000 species. In this way we stay caught in the network of ignorance. Then, jodendriya tahe kal: our imprisonment within this network of ignorance is being continued on account of our desire for sense enjoyment. And out of all the senses, Bhaktivinoda Thakura says, the tongue is the most dangerous.
If we cannot control the tongue, then the tongue will oblige us to take different types of bodies, one after another. If a person is very much fond of satisfying his tongue by eating flesh and blood, then material nature will give him the facility to regularly taste fresh flesh and blood: he will get the body of a tiger or some other voracious meat-eating animal. And if one does not discriminate in his eating--if he eats all kinds of nonsense, everything and anything--then material nature will give him a hog's body, in which he will have to accept stool as his food. So much suffering is caused by the uncontrolled tongue.
There are six kinds of rasas (tastes), and if one is agitated by any one of them, he becomes controlled by the urges of the tongue. Some persons are attracted to the eating of meat, fish, crabs, eggs and other things produced by semina and blood and eaten in the form of dead bodies. Others are attracted by eating vegetables, creepers, spinach or milk products, but all for the satisfaction of the tongue's demands. Such eating for sense gratification-including the use of extra quantities of spices like chili and tamarind-is to be given up by Krishna conscious persons. The use of pan, haritaki, betel nuts, various spices used in pan-making, tobacco, LSD, marijuana, opium, liquor, coffee and tea is indulged in to fulfill illicit demands.
If we can practice accepting only remnants of food offered to Krishna, it is possible to get free from maya's victimization. Vegetables, grains, fruits, milk products and water are proper foods to offer to the Lord, as Lord Krishna Himself prescribes. However, if one accepts prasada only because of its palatable taste and thus eats too much, he also falls prey to trying to satisfy the demands of the tongue.
Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu taught us to avoid very palatable dishes even while eating prasada. If we offer palatable dishes to the Deity with the intention of eating such nice food, we are involved in trying to satisfy the demands of the tongue. If we accept the invitation of a rich man with the idea of receiving palatable food, we are also trying to satisfy the demands of the tongue. In Chaitanya-caritamrita (Antya 6.227) it is stated:
jihvara lalase yei iti-uti dhaya / shishnodara-parayana krishna nahi paya
"That person who runs here and there seeking to gratify his palate and who is always attached to the desires of his stomach and genitals is unable to attain Krishna."
As stated before, the tongue, belly and genitals are all situated in a straight line, and they fall in the same category. Lord Chaitanya has said, bhala na khaibe ara bhala na paribe: "Do not dress luxuriously and do not eat delicious foodstuffs." (Cc. Antya 6.236)
Those who suffer from diseases of the stomach must be unable to control the urges of the belly, at least according to this analysis. When we desire to eat more than necessary we automatically create many inconveniences in life. However, if we observe fasting days like Ekadashi and Janmashtami, we can restrain the demands of the belly.
As far as the urges of the genitals are concerned, there are two-proper and improper, or legal and illicit sex. When a man is properly mature, he can marry according to the rules and regulations of the shastras and use his genitals for begetting nice children. That is legal and religious. Otherwise, he may adopt many artificial means to satisfy the demands of the genitals, and he may not use any restraint. When one indulges in illicit sex life, as defined by the shastras, either by thinking, planning, talking about or actually having sexual intercourse, or by satisfying the genitals by artificial means, he is caught in the clutches of maya. These instructions apply not only to householders but also to tyagis, or those who are in the renounced order of life. (Nectar of Instruction)

HONOURING THE LORD'S PRASADA
One should respect the prasada of the Lord by first offering one's obeisances to it, then singing its glories, then chanting the maha-mantra and uttering the prema-dvani to the spiritual master, acaryas, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Sri Radha-Krsna and all the assembled Vaisnavas.
The Glorification of the Lord's Prasada
naivedyam jagadisasya anna-panadikam ca yat bhaksyabhaksya-vicaras ca nasti tad-bhaksane dvijah
brahmavan-nirvikaram hi yatha visnus tathaiva tat vikaram ye prakurvanti bhaksane tad dvijatayah
kustha-vyadhi-samayuktah putra-dara-vivarjitah nirayam yanti te vipras tasman navartate punah
"O brahmanas, in the eating of food such as rice and water, etc., which has been tasted by the Lord of the universe, Sri Krsna, there is no consideration of whether it is eatable or uneatable. Just as Lord Visnu is spiritual and is not subject to mundane transformation, so in the same way His prasada is spiritual and untransformable. Those brahmanas, who consider that in the eating of visnu-prasada there is some mundane transformation of its spiritual qualities and thus it can become contaminated by contact with someone's mouth or hands, become afflicted with leprosy, become bereft of their sons and wife, and go to hell, never again to return from that place." (Visnu Purana)
maha-prasade govinde nama-brahmani vaisnave svalpa-punya-vatam rajan visvaso naiva jayate (Mahabharata)
"O king, for those who have amassed very few pious activities, their faith in maha-prasada, in Sri Govinda, in the Holy Name and in the Vaisnava is never born."
Prasada-sevaya (from Bhaktivinoda Thakura's Gitavali)
1) bhai-re! sarira abidya-jal, jodendriya tahe kal, jibe phele bisaya-sagore ta'ra madhye jihva ati, lobhamoy sudurmati ta'ke jeta kathina somsare
2) krsna baro doyamoy, karibare jihva jay, swa-prasad-anna dilo bhai sei annamrta khao, radha-krsna-guna gao, preme dako caitanya-nitai
"O brothers! This material body is a place of ignorance, and the senses are a network of paths to death. The senses throw the soul into this ocean of material sense enjoyment and, of all the senses, the tongue is most voracious and uncontrol-lable; it is very difficult to conquer the tongue in this world. O brothers! Lord Krsna is very kind to us and has given us such nice prasada, just to control the tongue. Now let us take this prasada to our full satisfaction and glorify Their Lordships, Sri Sri Radha and Krsna and, in love, call for the help of Lord Caitanya and Prabhu Nityananda."
1) bhai-re! ek-dina santipure, prabhu advaitera ghare, dui prabhu bhojane bosilo sak kori' asvadana, prabhu bole bhakta-gana, ei sak krsna asvadilo
2) heno sak-asvadane, krsna-prema dise mane, sei preme koro asvadana jada-buddhi pari-hari', prasada bhojana kori', 'hari hari' bolo sarva-jan
"O brothers! One day at Santipura, in Sri Advaita's house, Lord Caitanya and Nityananda were seated at prasada. When Lord Caitanya tasted the green vegetables, He said, 'My devotees, this sak is so delicious! Lord Krsna has definitely tasted it. At the taste of such sak as this, love of Krsna arises in the heart. In such love of God you should take this prasada. Giving up all materialistic conceptions and taking the Lord's prasada, all of you just chant 'Hari! Hari!'"
1) bhai-re! sacir angane kabhu, madhavendra-puri prabhu, prasadanna koren bhojana khaite khaite ta'ra, ailo prema sudurbar bole, suno sannyasirf gana
2) moca-ghanta phula-bari, dali-dalna-caccari, saci-mata korilo randhana ta'ra suddha bhakti heri', bhojana korilo hari, sudha-sama e anna-byanjana
3) joge jogi pay jaha, bhoge aj ha'be taha 'hari boli' khao sabe bhai krsnera prasad-anna, tri-jagat kore dhanya, tripurari nace jaha pai'
"O brothers! Whenever Madhavendra Puri took prasada in the courtyard of Mother Saci, uncontrollable ecstatic symptoms of love of God overwhelmed him while he ate. O assembled sannyasis, just listen to this. Mother Saci cooked and prepared semi-solid preparations made with banana flowers, a special dahl preparation, baskets of fruits, small square cakes made of lentils and cooked-down milk and many other varieties of prasada. Seeing her pure devotion, Lord Krsna personally ate all these different vegetable preparations, which were just like nectar. All the results the mystic obtains in the execution of yoga will be obtained today in the taking of the prasada of the Lord. O brothers! Everyone simply eat the prasada of Lord Hari and chant His holy name. The entire universe glorifies and praises the prasada of Lord Krsna. Obtaining that prasada, Lord Siva dances in great joy."

They are taking puris made with white flour and sugar, khir, solid cream collected over yogurt, sweetmeats, sweet rice and many kinds of cakes and condensed milk preparations. Mahaprabhu, Sri Krsna Caitanya, gave the order to all His devotees, in whose minds there was transcendental bliss, to eat the prasada of the Lord. Becoming very ecstatic by eating the prasada of the Lord, everyone chanted 'Krsna! Krsna!'"

Lord Jagannatha gave to all of you varieties of extraordinary and wonderful prasada, such as khichuri and many kinds of cakes and condensed milk preparations. Therefore, take all of this prasada till you are filled up to the neck and chant 'Hari! Hari!' In such a transcendental atmosphere ignorance and sin will not remain. Offering of food items forms part of the 'Upacharas' or Services/Offerings offered to a deity who has had the Prana Prathistha ritual performed to it. Therefore the murthi or vigraha is revered as a living entity who is offered food, fruits, and betelnut among others Here in this picture Swamiji is enjoying the Naivedhyam, Being offered by our Youngest resident here at Shayamalapeetha Sarvajnapeetha, Sri Nithya Paramashivajnananda Maharaj. "Naivedyam" means food offered to a Hindu deity as part of a worship ritual, before eating it. As such, tasting during preparation or eating the food before offering it to God is strictly forbidden. The food is first placed before a deity and specific prayers are offered with accompanying rituals. Afterwards, the food is considered as having been Blessed by God, and has officially become the sanctified प्रसाद (prasāda). Prasāda is to be consumed by attendees as a Holy offering However, one needs to differentiate Naivedya from 'Prasad'. Prasad is what one gets from Bhagwan(God) The meaning of these words, respectively, is usually attributed to food that is first offered to God (naivedya), and ultimately received from God (prasad). The beauty of this ritual makes us realize everyday and everytime we offer naivedyam to the deities that they are very much alive and breathing with us enjoying the space of Meenakshi Devi, gracing this holy kshetram not just as deities but as living beings. So blessed Shayamalapeetha Sarvajnapeetha is to have soo many celestial being around filling the air with excitement and Bliss Such is the life of a practicing Hindu living in a spiritual ecosystem like this one ☝ here in Madurai. Under the feet of Devi Meenakshi. 😇 (at Madurai, India) https://www.instagram.com/p/ByR2qXxFpvr/?igshid=fxt019w9g709

🔸NAIVEDYAM: WILL #GOD EAT OUR OFFERINGS?🔸 Here is a very good explanation about Naivedyam to God. Will God come and eat our offerings? Many of us could not get proper explanation from our elders. An attempt is made here. A Guru-śișya conversation: The śișya who doesn't believe in God, asked his Guru thus: "Does God accept our 'naivedhyam'(offerings)? If God eats away the 'prasādam' then from where can we distribute it to others? Does God really consume the 'prasādam', Guruji?" The Guru did not say anything. Instead, asked the student to prepare for classes. That day, the Guru was teaching his class about the 'Upanishads'. He taught them the 'mantra': "pūrnamadham,..poornasya pūrnādāya...." and explained that: 'everything came out from "Pūrna or Totality." (#Īshavasya #Upanishad). Later, everyone was instructed to practice the mantra by-heart. So all the boys started practicing. After a while, the Guru came back and asked that very student who had raised his doubt about Naivedyam to recite the mantra without seeing the book, which he did. Now the Guru gave a smile and asked this particular śișya who didn't believe in God: 'Did you really memorize everything as it is in the book? The śișya said: "yes Guruji, I've recited whatever is written as in the book." The Guru asked: "If you have taken every word into your mind then how come the words are still there in the book?" "The words in your mind are in the SŪKSHMA STHITI (unseen form). The words in the book are there in the STŪLA STHITI (seen form). God too is in the 'sūkșma sthiti'.The offering made to Him is done in 'stūla sthiti'. Thus, God takes the food in 'sūkșmam', in sūkșma stithi. Hence the food doesn't become any less in quantity. While GOD takes it in the "sūkshma sthiti", we take it as 'prasādam' in 'sthūla sthiti'. Hearing this the śișya felt guilty for his disbelief in God and surrendered himself to his GURU. 🙏🙏🙏 #sanatadharma #bhakti #Gurusteachings #Guru #disciple # Prasadam #naivedyam #offering (at Amritapuri)
