#it was weird experiencing the news of the new constitution over here in tumblr. where it was presented in a vaccuum#it's not that somehow the government decided to create a new constitution written by a diverse group of elected representatives#we fought for it. life in late 2019 was almost unbearable#i remember i stopped eating... my parents would sit down with me and be like 'whats going on?' and i was like idk! it's just the stress!#and that's a compromise reached by the government... a very lukewarm response no one was really satisfied with#and they spent 2021 writing the thing and now that it's finished people voted to reject it#60% of the entire electoral pool.... man#my parents included of course. my dear jw dad that does everything his way because of course#now maybe there are 10k people on tumblr who saw that post (and maybe know about the leftist president being chosen) and are able to-#-think positively about the changes made in our country#nah. there are no changes. politics remain the same if not the tiniest bit center-left#we have the same constitution created in a dictatorship. and the president ain't gonna change the world either#it was our only opportunity and of course misinformation won#it's hard trying to feel optimistic about all of this#i see all of my uni classmates claiming they still believe in the methods of democracy to achieve substantial change.... i don't anymore.#politics#personal
