Listen, don’t get me wrong. No one and I mean no one, will ever make a better Aoki than Michieda Shunsuke. He was perfect in every way, the most iconic disaster bi to hit our screens in a long time. But that does not mean that Fourth won’t bring his own twist and sense of humour and adorable personality to Atom in the Thai version of My Love Mix-Up. Much like the Thai version of Cherry Magic, I look forward to what the actors have to bring and how the change in both countries and companies will colour their versions. In fact let’s not call them remakes, because they aren’t. They are the Thai adaptations of Japanese mangas, not remakes of the Japanese adaptations of mangas. Those series stood on their own, I think allowing the Thai versions to stand on their own as well is the best thing we can do.

People have to understand that remakes from other countries are not gonna be anything like the original... They're just inspired in that plot, but the culture around it will change to adapt to it's new country... And if you don't want to watch it, that's okay. You are not obligated to it you know?!

Go watch the original again and again... Nobody's murdering it!!!

My Love Mix-Up! Vol. 9

It's ended today in NA, and I'm sad. But also fuming because of how Minekure sensei toyed with my heart. I nearly put this volume down and walked away from the story. But I'm glad I suffered through the hell because the other side is beautiful. Ending a romance series can always be a struggle because the story isn't ending, you're just choosing to bow out from it. But I think this finale does a great job of addressing that. It puts a lot of focus into the transitional period between high school and college, and uses that to separate the characters to signal the "end" of the story. I think it works really well because they tease you with some of the life afterwards as well. It's not just "oh we're done goodbye" but it shows that the story has continued despite us not experiencing it.

All in all, I have a lot of love for this series. It's funny, down to earth, romantic, and important in regards to the exploration of sexuality and love. This whole thing started from a dropped eraser with a name on it, and it's really something to remember that and see where we've ended up now. Like a drop of water becoming a wave, almost. It's sad to see it go, but much like the time capsule the cast buried, I'm sure many (myself included) will return to revisit this series with fond memories of it.

Thai adaptation of Kieta hatsukoi???? WITH GEMINIFOURTH?????????????? THIS IS EVERYTHING I'VE HOPED FOR AND MORE!!!!!!

a few notes on the kieta hatsukoi remake trailer:

it feels like they're using sound effects to compensate for lacking the og show's vibe, the filming angles and style could totally achieve that, i see the potentiall but they need to tone the old-fashioned sound effects for the actual show, hopefully they're an early trailer decision only

the mio and akkun counterparts resemble the og actors SO. MUCH. i absolutely love the casting as far as visuals go

i think gem could pull ida's character off and fourth - aoki's; however, as of rn fourth feels more like gun than disaster bi aoki; idk if he decided to do like the regina george in the mean girls musical did and not watch the og so it wouldn't influence his read on the character or maybe they didn't have much time ot film the trailer but i hope that changes - i'm all for an actor's unique portrayal, especially if the director views the whole show differently and expects smth else. however, the character just feels too close to gun and i hope fourth doesn't fall into a typecasting situation

some of the sets are so on point, it's a great way to make me feel the connection to the original without affecting the unique director's interpretation of the source material, which is great

from here on out, SPOILERS FOR THE OG! i can tell there are no mio-akkun scenes (i will learn the thai names soon, bare with me) because it's only the first trailer but also cause it'd be a spoiler, i am excited to see those two embody the characters cause they are everything

i wonder if we'd get the teacher subplot, what would be the ramen equivalent, who would they cast? also are we not getting cinderella atom?? omg the camping part, i hope we get that, in the manga it's a ski trip while in the show it's out in the woods, they could pull smth completely different but i hope we still get it

mio and aoki have the best friendship and i hope this show conveys that <3

gem's character has a cat in this one? instead of a big cute dog? which makes me think about what the director is trying to portray, i'm sure there's a reason for such seemingly irrelevant changes, i already have a few ideas
