SvtFoE Rhombulus Rewrite (Pt. 1)
So recently I made this post, and I am keeping the promise I made in said post. This is just part one, which is introducing the small, yet important change I have made to his character. Here it is (Warning: LONG):
A Small Character Change:
- First thing that is a small, yet major thing that I might want to change that would recontextualize some things but make a lot of things flow a bit easier; Rhombulus represents childhood and is the youngest of the MHC, so why not show that a little bit more?
- Might do a small redesign for this since I want to and no one can stop me. Plus it would work better with what I’m trying to do. Would definitely keep some of the major elements of his design the same, like his general head and also the two snakes.
- Might base him a bit more off a Chimera though, with some lion paws, goat legs, and two snake tails. IDK, tbh I came up with half the stuff on this at 1 am and am only writing it down now. Sorry if it’s terrible.
- But the most important and central part of this redesign is making him look slightly more like a child. This can add a lot more to his character and also give me more wiggle room to work with. He’s already basically the child of the MHC, why not portray that?
- He wouldn’t look too much younger, but still young/age ambiguous looking enough to portray the idea that he is the baby of the bunch and not very mature. Might even just keep his design the same, and later on reveal that his is not fully mentally developed. Basically like a child/teen trapped inside an adult’s body.
- But probably just gonna go with the mild redesign angle. Might make him seem somewhere around Star’s age in maturity.
- The more I think about it, the more I think about mixing the two ideas together actually. Basically, at first, it seems like Rhombulus is a capable adult and more physically/mentally mature than Star and equal to the rest of the MHC. But the more we see him interact with other characters that are supposed to be his equals or superiors, the more we realize that he is actually viewed as pretty young by those around him, basically a child.
- He is basically seen a lot how like some characters view Star. This can help both strengthen their bond and also draw even more parallels between them. The will probably have a bit of big brother-little sister relationship, as he technically has more experience than her and can give her occasional bits of advice, whether or not they are actually helpful bits of advice.
- Btw, I do have some plot related reasons for the whole “Rhombulus is developmentally a kid/early teen” thing, and it would help fit with some of the themes and ideas presented in the series. I shall explain some of these as we go, though, since will make sense with context.
- Rhombulus would act pretty much the same as he did in Season 2, and his personality wouldn’t be much different from how it initially was in canon. Don’t worry, I’m not changing our favorite crystal snakehanded himbo too much. He’s still impulsive, hot-headed, immature, caring, quick to make assumptions, childish, well meaning, and the quickest to admit wrongdoing when under enough pressure, then actually feel guilty for said wrongdoing.
- He shall also get character growth as time goes on. That is the whole point of this thing I am making.
I decided to split this in half, since the post actually explaining his whole arc and changing some of the events of the show are gonna need their own post, but this was pretty important to establish first. Stay tuned for more.

Pyrite's older brother Prince Ario! A demon of few words but a heart of gold.
Unlike his gifted younger sister, Ario is powerless! Instead he is one of the best swordsmen in the kingdom.
(This is because I liked to use black talon in destiny 2 with him for years.)
